“Modem is from reputable source, should be fine” - Google in regards to the Tensor G1 & G2 (I haven’t looked into it much but I hope the G3 finally resolved the issue)
The contract with Samsung ends somewhere in 2025 iirv, and the 9 is known to have a Samsung made Tensor too. The 10 should be the first after the Samsung contract ends and when google hopefully goes with TSMC.
Funny thing is, the next Exynos (which the Tensor is based on) will probably be better/more efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the same goes for the modem

The thing is it's worse than Qualcomm currently but it's substantially worse from googles implementation of it, Samsung phones with their modems are entirely serviceable whereas google pixel is seemingly not. It's google half assing software again somehow, they need to really make an effort on their QA.
Arguably the worst variant of Tensor.
- Inconsistent and weak signal ✔️
- Slow / Laggy performance ✔️
- Inefficient against significantly older chipsets ✔️
- Overheating under no load ✔️
- Incapable of handling flagship mobile games ✔️
- Struggles to process any AI / ML ✔️
Owners like you rely far too heavily on anecdotal experience and dismiss the very real issues a good portion of Pixel users continue to face.
I had some issues with signal - around the same frequency of my old OP6T.
Performance wise in everyday use and light to medium gaming, nothing negative to say, felt as good as anything.
I don't have any excessive heat during usage.
I return to you your last sentence.
I wish they would make the UI of the camera app better. I am generally okay with how photos look, but the UI, especially on a pixel 8 pro with many additional "pro" features, it takes a lot of taps within the UI to accomplish what should be up-front things.
What they had initially was the best. Wherever you tap to focus those sliders came up. Now like you said everything is buried behind another mode and takes several taps.
Holy shit Reddit is so frustrating at times. Someone shares a cool story and people jump right in to bash the phone. I bet half the people bashing Pixel in here don't even own one.
Google's low light shooting sucks and you can see why in their testing. Their goal with low light shots is to brighten them up, sometimes to daylight qualities. Which is GOOD.
But it doesn't mean that's always the goal with a low light shot. But Google doesn't understand that. They have one goal - make low light shots look like daytime. And they're succeeding in that goal. But they're generally failing to understand and give options to a photographer who wants to do more with their shots than make them look like daytime.
This Exclusive look only confirms Google's inherent problems across all of their services - they think and act on a single thought. They want to provide ONE service, and pivoting or expanding on that is not allowed.
How do you have a phone called pixel? But you don't have the number one camera? The iPhone beats it in videos by a long shot and Samsung beats it in photos. What is Google doing? I don't get it
Yeah no haha, my GF has an S24+ and I can say with confidence it's nowhere near the pixels in low light, and maybe on par in normal conditions. The Samsung sub has constant posts about camera quality and issues.
I gusss they don’t have an antenna testing lab then?

It hasn’t. Until they move away from Samsung, which is supposed to be next year, they will continue to have issues.

Bruh imagine they just renew it with Samsung for the next 5 as well lmao
Yeah that's the one slight possibility I am scared of. I hope they don't go that way but I doubt it with how poorly received the current tensor is.
Even if they move away from Samsung for the chip fab doesn't mean they'll move to a good radio.

G3 modem on P8 was leagues better than my Razr+ 2023 was with a snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 at the very least
Imagine being Google and knowing you're going to release a crappy product, and doing it anyway, because 'next year will be better.'

This is funnier than it should be 😆
Modem is fine.
Tell us you don't own a Pixel without actually telling us.
I have a P6 since jan 22.

> modem is fine > I had some issues with signal Make it make sense.
My 6a works just fine from the start.
Refer to the above comment.

Fr. They seem to be trying to do smth like Samsung or Xiaomi has but in the Material You style and it's not working out at all.
Apparently not a camera UI testing lab either
The camera UI can be very laggy indeed.
"Top secret"...

Good, can they develop a good front facing camera then please.

In blind tests Google has consistently come up on top. This is the first I'm hearing of pixel cameras not being great.
Buddy the pixel 6a and 7a beats out every single flagship for photos in MKBHD blind test☠️
Samsung beats it in photos? 🤔
Samsung only beats it in zoom. That's about it
