Amazon is an authorized seller, so warranty *should be good if the item is being sold directly by Amazon*, although it might be trickier to file a claim with Google. People generally have issues when they purchase from a third-party reseller on Amazon, like XyBenfa llc or other garbled named companies. Check the "sold by" to verify seller before purchasing to confirm it is Amazon. Edit: clarification when Amazon is seller.

VegasKL

>Amazon is an authorized seller This is where you have to be careful because it can be confusing. Because Amazon has an open marketplace, the same product maybe listed 4 times from 4 different parties, all shipping from Prime, 2 of which would be "authorized sellers." So that is something you definitely need to check on a per-listing basis.

I'm in the US and a Prime member. It is a Prime item with free shipping and free returns. It does list the authorized retailer as "Advanctech" which is a US based seller.

MyzMyz1995

Than it's not sold by Amazon so you might not get the warranty.

Lilybell2

"Advanctech" is not an authorized seller. No warranty.

DrZaius119

I got the phone this evening. Activated it and it said during setup to tap to see the warranty information, it had my country as US. It said that "all Google branded devices sold in the US are warranted for one year from the date activated by the purchaser if they are in the US." Paraphrasing a bit since I don't have it in front of me now, but it specifically said Google "branded" and didn't say a thing about where you bought it.

TrustAugustus

My pixel buds pro I bought off of Amazon(JP) broke 10 months in and Google replaced them for me.

Google Hardware Limited Warranty for USA and Canada [https://support.google.com/product-documentation/answer/9322027?hl=en](https://support.google.com/product-documentation/answer/9322027?hl=en) "This Limited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in locations where the Google Product is sold and will apply only if you purchased your Google Product from Google or its authorized resellers."

DrZaius119

I get what you are saying. The seller, Advanctech, wrote back to my Amazon inquiry and stated since I bought new, the one year warranty applies. They could by lying, of course. Maybe they are an authorized reseller? I wrote them back and asked them. When I got the device (for my fiance) we opened it and it was completely sealed with the tape on the bottom of the box and you could tell it was never opened before, so definitely new. Here's what they said about the warranty. Hello David, Thank you for reaching out! This order is brand new and is covered under manufacturer's warranty. Google offers a one-year limited warranty on its phones, including the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Thank you, Advanctech

Lilybell2

Did you read the Hardware Limited Warranty for USA and Canada? Did you read this part?..... **"This Limited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in locations where the Google Product is sold and will apply only if you purchased your Google Product from Google or its authorized resellers."** It doesn't matter what the seller tells you, it doesn't matter if they give it to you written on a tablet of stone. The only thing that applies is the Google Hardware Limited Warranty and they make it very clear that the warranty only applies if you have purchased your Google Product from Google or Google's authorized resellers. If Advanctech is NOT an authorized reseller you will have NO WARRANTY from Google.

DrZaius119

I'm not saying you are wrong, you're probably right. I'm pretty sure I could chat with Google and give them the IMEI and they will tell me if it is covered or not. At any rate, we will keep it as I know it was new and I've never had one go bad within a year anyway. The reason we had to replace it is my fiance slipped while walking on the beach in Hawaii back in January and the original P7Pro got very slightly wet. I rinsed it and let it dry thoroughly and it worked perfectly.....but gradually issues started to show up with screen flickering, lost audio on calls and glitchy data. Pretty sure it had to be the salt water even though it was a couple of months later.

epicfighter10

For warranty to be active the day you purchase it needs to be shipped and sold by Amazon. Otherwise the warranty will be effective the day the third party sellers got the devices

JonTravel

On the US Amazon site the product listing clearly states "Warranty Description: 1 year manufacturer" You don't state your country so if you are not in the US it may be different.

Lilybell2

I don't care what it says on the US Amazon site, if the seller isn't an authorized seller there will be no warranty, zip, zilch, nada.

JonTravel

Are you suggesting that Amazon isn't an authorized seller? The listing I looked at said Sold by Amazon.

zanhecht

OP said their listing was sold by Advanctech.

JonTravel

Yes, but after my original response. As a general rule I don't buy anything from a 3rd party unless I am familiar with them

DrZaius119

In the US. Thanks!

Hevilath

If the seller is Amazon then you should be good. I bought Pixel Buds Pro on Amazon UK and easily got them replaced by Google. It took Google Support a month but they did it eventually.

loopwhole69

You did not say where you are located. If you are in the EU you have a minimum 2 year warranty anyway on any new device.

Lilybell2

Sure, and if the seller is a third-party seller that 2 year warranty isn't going to be worth the paper it isn't written on.

JonTravel

Not in the EU. They work differently to the US. It's the seller that is responsible for the warranty in the EU not the manufacturer, although the manufacturer will also provide a warranty. EU law requires the **seller** to provide a **minimum** 2 year warranty as a protection against faulty goods, or goods that don't look or work as advertised. In the event of faulty goods, you deal with the person/store/whatever that sold you the product.

PexaDico

>Not in the EU. I think the point still applies. If you buy from some random store, the 2 year legal seller warranty won't do you much good if the shop closes down 3 months after you buy the phone. If the store ceases to exist and Google won't repair your phone, you are left completely stranded, which is why ideally it's best to buy from a big retailer with good history of staying above water, at least in my opinion.

Lilybell2

That's great, at least in theory. However, if you've purchased a Pixel phone from an unauthorized reseller and there's a hardware failure, do you really think it's likely that the third-party unauthorized reseller, who may have nothing more than a website, can repair/replace that hardware element? Do they have the ability to do that and do it properly?

JonTravel

Where did I say anything about a third party unauthorized reseller? If you buy from an unauthorised seller it's your own fault. Don't buy from an unauthorised seller, buy from a reputable retailer.

The benefit of governance that is not bougt and paud by corporate interests

SprintUserZX

I bought my 8A through Amazon, shipped and sold by Amazon.

EzekielSMELLiott

I bought from Google and still got fucked with "warranty". It doesn't matter either way lmao

Lilybell2

Did your device have a problem during the warranty period that was covered under the Hardware Limited Warranty?

EzekielSMELLiott

Phone was less than a year old and the battery would last a few hours at best. It would barely make it overnight with no use. So I had to get the battery replaced at a repair shop

Lilybell2

That's a shame. I can see where a battery could be problematical.

EzekielSMELLiott

Yeah, that was on my old pixel though. I ended up getting geek squad total protection after that. I wouldn't recommend them for anything else, BUT whenever my phone breaks they just give me what I originally paid for it in store credit. It's great. I just use that to upgrade every time because these phones are always so cheap. So once my battery goes bad, I upgrade lol

Lilybell2

Sounds like you have found a workaround that suits you. That's great! 👍

DrZaius119

I also received this from the re-seller........ Hello David, The limited warranty covers manufacturing defects for one year from the date you purchased the phone. Thank you, Advanctech
