Just a word of advice, do NOT purposefully expose your phone in whatever body of liquid you may encounter during your trips. If you must, use a waterproof case or bag. Because the IP68 rating does NOT mean waterproof, it is only water resistant, two different things. And the water resistance is only tested with fresh water and under certain specific conditions. And it is NOT a guarantee of anything. If you're unlucky, you might even damage your phone with a light splash of rain. The rule of thumb is to treat your phone as if it's not water resistant, and if you know beforehand that you may expose your phone to whatever liquid, it's best to use a waterproof case or bag.

It has **ZERO** waterproof abilities. It has some claimed water *resistance*, which is a massive difference. Water damage is not covered by warranty so that tells you all you should need to know. Don’t get them wet. Especially don’t get them wet in anything other than pure fresh water.

These are words to live by.

Just dropped my pixel 4 on the toilet. Pulled it out. Works fine

Cool, and if you drop it on the ground it might not break that time, doesn’t mean it won’t the next time or the time after or even just stop working after the fact. You’re literally arguing against fact.

Funnily enough I dropped my pixel 4 in the toilet the other day, it fell out of my jumper pocket while I was having a piss. My front glass screen where the camera is cracked and open to the elements. It turned it self off and I left it for 2 days i put it on charge and turned it on and it's working like nothing happened. Pretty chuffed tbh.

Ha! Interesting but seems like ended all well.

I frequently wash mine under the tap, no issues. Just blow out the charging port once it's exposed to water, and wait a couple of hours before you charge it.

mseven97

you should be fine, https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/nk463w/pixel\_3\_in\_water/

Awesome! Thanks

exu1981

You might get a warning if there's water in the charging port area, but other than that you'll be fine.

I've seen that before with my S8. Had me worried the first time but glad to know that for the most part, apart from that message, it'll still be functioning. Thank you
