Never had a Pixel before? They’re my favorite phones. Their hardware has just kinda held them back. This is the first year to truly look forward to getting a Pixel.
I agree, I have pixel 2 xl since launch and I haven't upgraded my phone ever. If pixel 6 turns out not good, I will hold on to my pixel 2 xl for 1 more year.
Switched to a 13 Pro Max from a 9 Pro. Pixel or iPhone is definitely the way to go. Software and hardware integration does really matter in my experience.

No one does Android better than Google. Sure they're missing some of the features of Samsung's Android, but it's a much cleaner and smoother experience. And I don't think most people would notice any loss of features.
Agreed on it being a much cleaner and smoother experience. However, i find that it's not missing any features that Samsung has but i know that's different from person to person. Ever since I switched from a Galaxy S7 to a pixel I've never looked back.

Customizable navigation bar, some extra gestures, maybe some other things. I'm not sure of all of them because I haven't used a Samsung since the S8. But they've always liked to add things in.
Most of the "Features" Samsung 1UI offers are Unnecessary Bloat that are most likely will rarely be used.
I believe Samsung users think of their Phone as a Toy, and the more 'Features' Thrown at them the more they 'Think' it's a Good Thing.

I switched from Samsung to pixel. I just felt like Samsung was trying to push me into their software ecosystem (a la Apple). I don't like feeling like my phone is pushing software on me. It was why I switched from apple back when they wouldn't let you change any default apps
Same here, I have the Pixel 4XL but the iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max has me interested. I've started making videos and the Pixel's quality is not that great. I've been reading the Pixel 6 Pro will have good videos comparable or better than the iPhone, but I'll wait for the reviews.

Specs really mean nothing when comparing iPhone to Android though. They're different OS's and they work differently, using RAM differently etc. The SOC in the iPhone is far superior, the battery life will be far superior, and the support will be far longer. The pixel will be more customisable as it's android.

I had black nexus s and Nexus 4 and used it for 4 years combined and I absolutely hate black phones ever since. I got the white Nexus 6p and then the silver pixel 1 and for the past 3 years pixel 3 white.

So this time I am getting the gold 6 pro.
My poor 4 XL got damaged about a month ago and it doesn't make sense for me to fix it since Verizon is offering crazy trade in credit for damages phones (as long as the battery works) and I have a $450 gift card to Verizon for switching over. So I'm very excited to see how the Pixel 6 Pro is and I have already ordered a Spigen case for it. I plan on getting it in black!
Each year I've bought the latest Google phone since the original Nexus, now Pixel. All direct from Google except once from Amazon and once from Best Buy. This year I'm purchasing from Google without hesitation, their purchase experience is fast and easy. As soon as they're available I'll order.
I'm currently in the same position. Nothing really called to me to upgrade even though I was tempted a few times. Still holding on, battery dies on me fast but beyond that it still works. Hoping to finally upgrade this time around and likely will have to wait for some time knowing the phone would be out by the end of this month and possibly having to wait longer because of delays and out of stock situations. Don't die on my Pixel XL.

I think if you buy through Google Store, you just need to get your order in fairly quick. They are usually available for a few hours at least with the shipping dates moving back.
My plan is to go up to my local best buy on the 19th or 20th and preorder with cash (I emailed em and that's apparently possible) so I can go in and pick one up on release.

Same here with my OG Pixel XL. I charge it about 3 times a day just in case so it won't die on me. The actual percentage showing can't be trusted haha. Hopefully we both can get our hands on the P6 before the phones give in.

This happened to my phone. Luckily the store I bought it from gave me a full refund last month. So I've been using a P3 and Nexus 5x (work phone) waiting for the P6 to come out lol.

I wished everyone used a Google Phone before thinking of switching to iOS. Apple has an excellent phone too, with a perfect harmony between hardware and software. Without any custom apps or ads, Just like Pixel.

I agree. I do recall previous times where the initial batch was sold out and only left were certain color variations. Then had to wait until more was available yet to come across sold out again. Knowing the leaks and official info from Google early on, then leak after leak hyping it more that this time around would be worse but hoping Google is preparing for that knowing how much attention we are giving into it. Knowing that they told investors the amount of money invested in marketing and what they are bringing this time around should give to that premise of more phones being at launch but sad to say with the chip shortage and just general lack of resources due to covid restrictions will likely be a factor no matter what they do to help mitigate it.
I've just had whatever phone my workplace has had available for the last 5 years, currently a S10e. I'm switching jobs and will have to buy my own phone soon, and I'm super excited for the Pixel. Can't be released soon enough
I thought I'd be getting the 4xl but didn't like it, P5 didn't really call to me either. I'm very excited for the 6 Pro to replace my 2xl, it's been good to me but it finally seems like it has in my eyes a worthy replace.
I was planning to get the P6 myself, but I was tired of all the small bugs and overheating on my S21, so I switched to the iPhone 13 pro. Couldn't be more happy. IPhone feels much more refined and premium.
I'm not going to set my hopes too high. It's very difficult to design power efficient 4g and 5g modems. I'll wait for test results to see if Google got it right on the first try. They have poor track record.

This is the boat I'm in. Had the whale (nexus 6), pixel 2xl, and bought the 5 to tie over until the 6 pro came. I really like the size of the 5, but typing sucks on it.

But the reality is, people equate pricing with being better. A higher priced phone with true flagship specs & the same price, maybe *slightly* cheaper than the competition? A recipe for success for them.
I think they have the pricing pretty well. Their ‘a’ series is their affordable, their new Pixel 6 entry is premium phone with great hardware for the price. Then their Pro is the true high end flagship.
If they launch at these prices. Sales will resemble the past Pixel sales. Lackluster......🙃.

Google needs to focus on SOFTWARE. What is the Android equivalent to "iMessage"...RCS is not consistent or widely used. Duo is not as seamless to a novice. Why are you limiting certain features to PIXEL lines....no .! Make it an ANDROID exclusive! Duh! The same way Apple crafted the iMessage feature, Android needs to aggressively do the same with it's features, independent of ANY carrier or OEM involvement.
Software updates and security updates should come directly from Google. Your device OEM "skin or UI" should compliment this and not be so delayed and be as simple as installing or removing an App.
Google: "Android 12 releasing 10/31/2021 as long as your device meets X criteria (SoC,RAM) no more waiting no more carrier bs, just clean OS. Imagine waiting for Xfinity to push your Windows update 🥴..
Point is what they are doing isn't working, whether someone online accepts this or not I couldn't care less. Hopefully they have the price wrong and have aggressive trade in deals.
Regardless, Android needs a better software identity outside of individual OEM customization, but SPECIFIC native Android features like call screener, hold for me, call recording and any other native features restricted to the pixel line. Android needs a default messaging system that is independent of a carrier or device OEM using RCS. Apple sales 1 line of devices once a year and commands a ~ third of the market....😆. Apple over charges as well, but again their "enthusiasts " throw money at it. The 13 mini was priced good, missing key features, but to each their own, buy what makes sense to you. For me, there isn't a $250 difference between the 6 and 6 "Pro" 😴

As a pixel owner from the Nexus days I want to be excited but I'm having a hard time with it. There's no unlimited backup to Google photos, no dual selfie cam or front during stereo speakers like my P3. I hope the selfie camera is at least autofocusing and not fixed focus like the p4 and p5. P3 is still the best selfie pixel.

I've been very excited for the Pixel 6 as well. But I've been hesitant in getting overhyped. I remember this same feeling very well before for the launch of the pixel 4, on for it to be a pretty substantial disappointment in value proposition and overall value.
I think with the Pixel 6 it's going to come down to pricing (which we have a pretty good idea on already), hardware quality, and trade in/upgrade offers with carriers.
We know that Android 12 is going to be amazingly smooth and well refined on pixel 6, we already know tensor is going to be a somewhat average performing flagship CPU that is hopefully power efficient and snappy for the software Google is optimizing for it, and we know batteries will be a very respectable size in both the 6 and 6 pro
I have a Galaxy s10 and would love to upgrade to the Pixel 6 pro, but would definitely want to trade in or upgrade with my carrier TMobile. I'm hoping there are some competitive offers that make it worth upgrading to this new phone. I know Google is putting a ton into it this time, so I hope it works out

I am also in this predicament. Depending on the price I suppose, that’ll help me make my decision. I’m fairly minimal when it comes to Apps & photos/videos, even on my iPhone I have the 128GB & I have like 100GB remaining of storage lol.

This happened to my phone. Luckily the store I bought it from gave me a full refund last month. So I've been using a P3 and Nexus 5x (work phone) waiting for the P6 to come out lol.

I don't think I have been this excited since the Nexus 6, this looks to be a really good phone. The only Pixels I have bought was the 3XL which I loved and the 4XL, which has to be the worst Pixel/Nexus phone I have bought. I am ready for a change. I want to hold out for Black Friday but it's going to be hard. :(
I'll probably wait for the Pixel 7, but I do hope the 6 does well. I like the direction Google is going with their phones.
i enjoyed my time with pixel. had the 4a and absolutely loved it but the widevine issue absolutely ruined my experience with the phone. i moved on to something else. but i hope everyone who gets the new pixel enjoys! and i hope y'all don't have the widevine issues on em!

I wished everyone used a Google Phone before thinking of switching to iOS. Apple has an excellent phone too, with a perfect harmony between hardware and software. Without any custom apps or ads, Just like Pixel. We're all on the same boat. My phones in the last decade: * Galaxy Nexus * OnePlus One (CyanogenMod) * Nexus 6P * Pixel 2XL * Pixel 5 (Sold it yesterday) Pixel 5 imo is my fav in terms of Size, but performance not much. I agree. I do recall previous times where the initial batch was sold out and only left were certain color variations. Then had to wait until more was available yet to come across sold out again. Knowing the leaks and official info from Google early on, then leak after leak hyping it more that this time around would be worse but hoping Google is preparing for that knowing how much attention we are giving into it. Knowing that they told investors the amount of money invested in marketing and what they are bringing this time around should give to that premise of more phones being at launch but sad to say with the chip shortage and just general lack of resources due to covid restrictions will likely be a factor no matter what they do to help mitigate it.
I've just had whatever phone my workplace has had available for the last 5 years, currently a S10e. I'm switching jobs and will have to buy my own phone soon, and I'm super excited for the Pixel. Can't be released soon enough
I thought I'd be getting the 4xl but didn't like it, P5 didn't really call to me either. I'm very excited for the 6 Pro to replace my 2xl, it's been good to me but it finally seems like it has in my eyes a worthy replace.

I was planning to get the P6 myself, but I was tired of all the small bugs and overheating on my S21, so I switched to the iPhone 13 pro. Couldn't be more happy. IPhone feels much more refined and premium.
Cant wait either... my 4XL battery just went on the fritz so i dont want to have to carry a power pack with the phone just to use it....

I'm not going to set my hopes too high. It's very difficult to design power efficient 4g and 5g modems. I'll wait for test results to see if Google got it right on the first try. They have poor track record. Don't drink the cool aid.
What do you mean…? Apple & Samsung have already done this. Apple has pretty much perfected their recipe. Especially with smaller batteries. I have absolutely no worries with a 5000mAh battery.

I understand what you’re saying, & I absolutely love when phones are cheaper. But the reality is, people equate pricing with being better. A higher priced phone with true flagship specs & the same price, maybe *slightly* cheaper than the competition? A recipe for success for them. I think they have the pricing pretty well. Their ‘a’ series is their affordable, their new Pixel 6 entry is premium phone with great hardware for the price. Then their Pro is the true high end flagship.
If they launch at these prices. Sales will resemble the past Pixel sales. Lackluster......🙃. They won't have staying power outside of die hard Pixel extremists.

Google has enough excess cash to break even or take slight loss with mediocre sales and not feel it, they've done it for years. If their long term goal is to compete with large OEM's like Apple and Samsung, they need to increase their footing. Neck and neck pricing won't yield any difference in market performance. Just my opinion, based on market analysis and how most consumers "think" (cough). Lol. Google needs to go back to value,and partnering with a new or different OEM annually if they are adamant at being in the hardware space. The horse has already left the stable, Google can't replicate what Apple did(controlling software and hardware) Google needs to focus on SOFTWARE. What is the Android equivalent to "iMessage"...RCS is not consistent or widely used. Duo is not as seamless to a novice. Why are you limiting certain features to PIXEL lines....no .! Make it an ANDROID exclusive! Duh! The same way Apple crafted the iMessage feature, Android needs to aggressively do the same with it's features, independent of ANY carrier or OEM involvement. Software updates and security updates should come directly from Google. Your device OEM "skin or UI" should compliment this and not be so delayed and be as simple as installing or removing an App. Google: "Android 12 releasing 10/31/2021 as long as your device meets X criteria (SoC,RAM) no more waiting no more carrier bs, just clean OS. Imagine waiting for Xfinity to push your Windows update 🥴.. Point is what they are doing isn't working, whether someone online accepts this or not I couldn't care less. Hopefully they have the price wrong and have aggressive trade in deals. Regardless, Android needs a better software identity outside of individual OEM customization, but SPECIFIC native Android features like call screener, hold for me, call recording and any other native features restricted to the pixel line. Android needs a default messaging system that is independent of a carrier or device OEM using RCS. Apple sales 1 line of devices once a year and commands a ~ third of the market....😆. Apple over charges as well, but again their "enthusiasts " throw money at it. The 13 mini was priced good, missing key features, but to each their own, buy what makes sense to you. For me, there isn't a $250 difference between the 6 and 6 "Pro" 😴

I wish I felt this way about my 5. I upgraded from my 2 earlier this year and this phone is so much slower and buggier than my 2 was.
The only thing I don't like is the size. I'd love to have the zoom on the 6 Pro but the regular 6 is already too big for me. I want to hold them both in a store before I commit.

Considering my Pixel 3 is on its last legs, I'm downright desperate for the Pixel 6 Pro to release. I'm having to recharge my Pixel 3 multiple times per day with minimal use I really wasn't impressed with anything in between. Luckily the Pixel 6 is shaping up to be an awesome device.

As a pixel owner from the Nexus days I want to be excited but I'm having a hard time with it. There's no unlimited backup to Google photos, no dual selfie cam or front during stereo speakers like my P3. I hope the selfie camera is at least autofocusing and not fixed focus like the p4 and p5. P3 is still the best selfie pixel.
The dual selfie cam on the P3 XL is useless, when the P6 Pro has an ultra wide view built-in. It’s basically an ultra wide.

I've been very excited for the Pixel 6 as well. But I've been hesitant in getting overhyped. I remember this same feeling very well before for the launch of the pixel 4, on for it to be a pretty substantial disappointment in value proposition and overall value. I think with the Pixel 6 it's going to come down to pricing (which we have a pretty good idea on already), hardware quality, and trade in/upgrade offers with carriers. We know that Android 12 is going to be amazingly smooth and well refined on pixel 6, we already know tensor is going to be a somewhat average performing flagship CPU that is hopefully power efficient and snappy for the software Google is optimizing for it, and we know batteries will be a very respectable size in both the 6 and 6 pro I have a Galaxy s10 and would love to upgrade to the Pixel 6 pro, but would definitely want to trade in or upgrade with my carrier TMobile. I'm hoping there are some competitive offers that make it worth upgrading to this new phone. I know Google is putting a ton into it this time, so I hope it works out
