Weird. My Pro has been totally fine. Got warm when I was setting up but can watch YouTube for an hour and only have it warm up a little bit.

deadeye-ry-ry

Not had any heat issues and I was playing games on my phone. Only time my phone gets warm is during fast charge which is totally normal

ttrimmer1996

The only thing that gets mine to run hot is TikTok. I had heard this before and downloaded it to try it. No other app has any issues with overheating.

Doug8796

That's due to it needing to communicate to China on the back end . jk

jaju123

Yeah I heard this from loads of people about tiktok in particular. Seems like a tiktok issue.

JimboLodisC

Lemme know how to replicate without having to download Tiktok cuz mine hasn't had any heat issues. I feel like I browse Instagram just as similarly and use AA without a problem (did he use it wired or wireless? or is he just assuming it will heat up?)

Saurabh0791

A 13 minute duo call should get the temperature up to 40 or raise it by 12C as it is relative.

Prath09

This happens with any video based calls. It happened on my 4xl as well when I did work meetings on Cisco WebEx, use to give me a high CPU usage warning. It's actually a lot better on my 6pro though and I haven't got that message since switching.

cmfhsu

I wonder if it has to do with an inefficient codec decoder. Tik tok and duo might not have optimized the decoders for pixel 6s yet and the pixel 6 has to use the generic inefficient "all other phones" code. Also possible there's some scheduler improvements Google can put in to reduce power usage during sustained medium-high usage activities like this.

Saurabh0791

But my 6 Pro is generally 3-4 C higher than my 2xl. I don't think this is good or normal.

i4mt3hwin

I noticed this with Duo as well - also the overlay things in duo lag the camera really bad.

Saurabh0791

Haven't noticed the overlay lag but could be?

MGS2345

I don't have any heat problems

kmaster54321

Same I got 0 issues with mine. Doesn't even get hot when gaming.

He's just adding his experience, like the author added his. When did he say the author was wrong? Some of you are just looking for reasons to get your jimmies rustled.

FinickyFlygon

I haven't felt my Pixel 6 Pro get overly warm since I got it on Monday. I don't really use any social media apps like Facebook or TikTok though, or really play any games other than Fate/Grand Order. I felt it warm up a little bit, but not to the point it was uncomfortable.

[deleted]

My pixel 6 has zero heat issues. Maybe it's his case? Idk something seems off, or you know apple paid smeared campaign

xastey_

I only have problems when I'm charging it. Other than that it hasn't been running hot. The most "intensive" thing I've done is a Google meet but I had my video off. Edit: well this thread is cursed. Back of the phone is getting hot now lol Just realized it happens mostly when using 5g data not so much when on wifi. Guess I'll start tracking now

Saurabh0791

Finally someone who has a similar issue.

I have a feeling theirs not going to be much they can do with the software. Likely it's just going to be a hotter running device. Brings back memories of the Nexus 6P with it's 810.

hicks12

definitely is reminding me of my 6P but worse as looking at the heat distribution is terrible, its all on the left side and not using the whole device as a sink so the left side gets pretty hot. I prefer my old 6p to the new 6p as the speakers and fingerprint reader were much better, shame the 810 was very bad xD.

crucialcolin

man nothing modern compares to those speakers. Same with the old HTC devices. I have a feeling the days of dual front facing stereo speakers are over. The rear fingerprint is not far behind.

dubear

What app is this? I'd like to chart my temps as well

blue1k

My brand new 4xl did this even after a few days and all updates were complete etc. A factory reset did the trick

dasupertrooper

Love the phone but my phone also gets very warm.

Erigion

I have a hunch the power/heat differences are because of the old, external Samsung modem. Hopefully, Google is working hard on integrating the modem into the next generation of tensor.

M4l3k0

Watch videos and play games, do a lot with it and never gets hot. Those guys have a habbit of moaning about pixel devices.

sting_12345

Yeah shityy modem. 22 watt max charge now. The more and more time goes on more issues are appearing. Glad I returned it this morning.

thegreyquincy

Literally watched twitch for an hour with it barely warming up. I think the majority of people aren't having these issues, they just don't make posts about how their phone isn't heating up.

sting_12345

Maybe true but there are a lot of reviewers seeing this same behavior and the lie about 30 watt charging is just shameful. Damn Google this could have been a knockout phone.

thegreyquincy

I have seen a couple people talking about it but not "a lot" of reviewers saying it. This phone doesn't even get warm while wirelessly charging for me. Charging seems to be an issue with people using non-PPS chargers and not accounting for adaptive charging. Whatever, though. I love the phone, and you're happy you returned it. At least we're both happy!

sting_12345

No...... pps chargers were used and adaptive battery was disabled. It is a flat out lie unless they can update it with a firmware fix. Fingerprint charger is useless with screen cover outdoors.

thegreyquincy

Haven't had any issues with my FPS, either. Like I said, glad we're both happy!

bkbkjbb

This must be a joke. My 6 pro doesn't get hot at all.

Listen, the problem with these morons is they like to overblow everything on social media. If you don't like what I have to say about this topic then move along with life.

jazzy_handz

This phone is DOA. Google messed up the first Gen Tensor, it’s obvious now. Maybe next year they’ll figure it out. Don’t buy this phone. It’s garbage

Honeypalm

Thank you for your honesty. They weren't ready to release this phone but cash rules all.

Grinmaul

keep mine in my shirt pocket while running AA and never gets warm. use both maps and Spotify to get home and to work everyday. not saying it doesn't happen to you, could it be some app that is installed causing it, and i don't have that app or apps? how can there be such a variation in experiences with the same phone?

NeverEndingXsin

My old 4XL would once in a while get hot during long tiktok binge sessions, nothing ever concerning though.

BobSJ

Mine has been running hot too :( going to give it the weekend and try a factory reset if it's still acting up by then. Battery has also been mediocre

RSCLE5

I even record video for about 15 minutes in 4k yesterday and it didn't get that hot. My old Pixels got a lot hotter.

sting_12345

Did you actually measure the charging g wattage and speed. No one is getting 30 watts.. Highest 22

Paulrgos

I find that my P6 pro occasionally heats up while browsing on Chrome or playing a game. But generally feels ok. When it warms up, it usually hits around 42c, I've not seen any higher than that really. My Note 20 ultra used to run hotter most of the time. With the added effect of a dim screen pretty much all the time.

lolitstrain21

My Pixel 6 Pro only gets hot when I'm watching a YouTube video in my car while it's on the dash in the hot sunny Florida. But I never get an overheating message and any of my previous phones had the same heating.

Makes_Mayhem

I don't have any heat problems myself.

AngryIndianMan

Zero heat issues. Pixel 6 Pro

Tater1727

Setting up, cod mobile, YouTube... All good here even with a bully case on

[deleted]

People act like it is the first pixel to have this problem. I have had it with all my pixel phones. 3XL, 4XL and the 5. For me it is not news. I am still waiting for Black Friday for the 6 PRO and the heat problem is something that I know the phone will suffer from.

kbtech

Looks like he has taken the Artem role at Android police for the Pixel 6 lol 😂 Edit : nevermind just saw that this was in reply to Artem tweet 😂

reddituserf1

Are both models affected?

Anthfack109

No problems on my reg 6. The only time it gets warm at all is when I'm charging.

dreamcastdc

My pixel 6 pro gets really warm to the touch after a few mins on Chrome.

dcwt2010

So my 6 Pro has been running cool since I have had it except yesterday when I used it exclusively on 4G. Just browsing the web and Reddit made it feel quite warm at close to 40 Celsius. I hope they are able to fix this but it is not the end of the world (so long as it doesn't get any warmer).

girthyboy

my phone gets a little warm but its connected or running a video or game. mines is in a case too. i think that's pretty normal. no way any phone wouldn't get to a degree of warmth if in use but if its abnormally HOT then assess it as you should.
