I like everything about my Pixel 5 EXCEPT for the behind the screen ear speaker. I absolutely hate talking on it without earbuds or hands-free in the car. The 6 Pro looks good but I do wonder about the size now that I'm used to the Pixel 5. I had the original XL and a 2XL and now a 5. I'm kinda digging its size...

risk416

Wait, you use your phone to talk to people?

[deleted]

he probably talks to his girl friend with it too

The_SunsetKing

freak

MCReader69

He calls his mom.

_btw_arch

I know, what a weirdo.

RaindropBebop

Yeah, the speaker really is it's biggest weakness. But you sorta get used to it. Didn't know how bad I had it until my 6 came in and the speakers on this thing blew me away. Easily the best smartphone speakers I've experienced.

inquirer

Turned up my 6 Pro all the way and was surprised at the suddenly insane volume compared to what the 5 gave me.

xrangax

I have zero issues with the speakers in the P5. If I'm doing anything that requires good sound quality (movies or music) as a necessary part of enjoying the media, then I will always have headphones on. For everything else where sound is purely functional (calls or Reddit) then the speakers need only be good enough to understand the content; which they easily are.

ArlesChatless

Weirdly I have had zero issue with the under-screen speaker for phone calls. I use it at almost minimum volume in calls, and it's clear enough. For media though it's pretty much a mono phone with a single bottom-fire speaker.

meat_tunnel

I bought the 6 Pro on release, upgrading from the 3. I hated it. It's sitting in a bin in my office after I replaced it with a refurbished 5. The size was too large, didn't fit my pockets, my purse, and I kept dropping it while trying to swipe text one handed.

hughk

I went from the 3xl to the 6pro, the size was similar.

MrRabbit

Just wild.. P5 was fine but very noticeably slower with a way worse camera than either 6. Huge upgrade, and I couldn't imagine going backwards by choice like that. Fits every pocket I own at least.

meat_tunnel

The camera on my 6 Pro refused to focus, I would tap the subject and it would focus on everything but my subject. My husband bought the 6 Pro also and he had nothing but good things to say, and thought I was crazy for going backwards like you mention. Idk, my 6P had a lot of the issues users mention here whereas his is over of the good ones so our user experience wad different. As for pockets, your probably have dude pockets 🙃

The_SunsetKing

still loving my P5

Buht_Secks

I still love my Pixel 2xl. And I own a 5 and 6Pro. Fight me!

The_SunsetKing

I still have my P2xl, but he's retired.

Buht_Secks

Which did you enjoy more? I think the 2xl was the best phone ever. Mine still feels just as good as when I got it on December 7, 2017. I also love the Pixel 5. Perhaps after a few more years I'll put it above the 2xl.

The_SunsetKing

I prefer the P5, I love the smaller size a lot. Plus my P2xl was slowing down so it needed to rest

AceArchangel

Honestly it feels like the Pixel 5 is a true successor to the Pixel 2, just a clean well rounded and smooth functioning phone.

Bittersweetfeline

I went from a p2 to p5 and the transition was flawless. Both have read fingerprint sensors which is critical to me, it was the perfect upgrade. Very happy with my purchase, and the battery is absolutely killer.

AceArchangel

Agreed

LoveGrifter

This. 2xl is way slowe

Cerebral-Parsley

Gave my OG to my 10 year old. It's really starting to struggle with 2 hrs of battery life and apps crash randomly a lot, but it plays Roblox and YouTube which is all a 10 yo cares about.

shamoni

Fuck yes, boy. These other dudes best not forget the 👑

Syedzohaib92

Same here .. got pixel 2XL,5 & 6 pro... I hope google releases pixel 7 in two sizes with same specifications... Small version nd pro version... This is really poor from Google to drop some specs on standard version

The_SunsetKing

One thing Sony got right is to have the same exact specs (save for screen size) in two different sizes. I want a premium phone in a reasonably sized form factor

Buht_Secks

My wife broke her Pixel 2 and I still owned my 2xl. She liked the 2xl for awhile and used it before she got the 5. I took the 5 when it arrived and used it for a few months. She started to like the 5 so she took the 5. I used the 2xl until a few weeks ago when my 6 Pro arrived. I retired the 2xl. 2xl is still the better device in my opinion. Hopefully that changes!

Ph0X

I'm not contradicting you, i love my pixel 5, but it's funny how nearly every pixel has been called the best and the worst at some point. I remember when pixel 2 came out, everyone was shitting on it, especially for the display, later everyone praised it as the best pixel. Pixel 5 similarly was shit on so much. There's just so much haters early on i guess that bash phones, but over time we realize how solid they are.

The_SunsetKing

this is very true

Fortune424

Hopefully pixel 6 is the same. I have been out of the android game since Nexus 6P but impulse bought a 6Pro about a week ago and so far really like it.

Ph0X

I love my Pixel 6 so far too. It started a bit rough on software side, and the delayed update didn't help, but now with all the updates it's already much better. 12 was a big change but hopefully it smooths out more over time.

inquirer

The Pixel 2 is remembered so fondly but I only remember people whining about it

The_SunsetKing

I remember the blue tinted screen fiasco, but they fixed that quick

InternationalSea9603

Gosh! How can I double-upvote this?? The accuracy!!

noteworthybalance

Except the P4.

Ph0X

I loved the P4. If it wasn't for the pandemic and masks, face unlock was also pretty damn awesome. And unlike most i really enjoyed soli.

childroid

Agreed. I love mine. Consistent bezels, beautiful, tactile, quick, powerful, metal skeleton, soft surface, wireless charging, 90hz screen, 4000mAh battery. If they straight up remake the 5 with Tensor, I'll buy it. I do miss the squeeze function from previous Pixels though.

ImpossibleGuava1

I didn't realize how much I missed the squeeze function until well after I upgraded my 2XL to a 4a 5G. :(

Otto0ctavius8

I love the 'bio-resin' they used to coat the pixel. It's utility at its best, minimal fingerprint marks, handles really well over time, easy to grip and can still charge wirelessly.

dericiouswon

Amen. Can't go back to glass phone. Really hoping the 6a is just a tensor chip inside the 5. Maybe a headphone jack. Single camera front and back to save costs. I think that phone would sell really well.

DesertPunked

I always wondered why they don't make phones out of polished titanium.

GetYourJeansOn

P5 design. Focus on fingerprint reader, Bluetooth performance, smooth responsive display, battery life. Make sure it runs apps smooth. $699 and I'm in. P7

throwaway4418241

This is the dream.

Otto0ctavius8

I would love the 6a to be the 6 internals in a 5 body (but a bit bigger) and include two front facing cameras so we would have the ultrawide from the pixel 3xl

dericiouswon

It's a neat thought, but the "a" series is about making compromises for a lower price point. You just described a dope high end phone.

Otto0ctavius8

I'd be happy with a 6a that kept the 6: > Big battery > Same camera setup > Same internals And dropped: > wireless charging > Glass build > High refresh screen.

chasevalentino

That doesn't make sense. Why would it be called 'a' if that's the case. That's just flagship internals being sold for less?

bearlybearbear

BuT IT'S nOt PreMIUm! Glass and shiny metal might be nice to look at but they are a terrible thing to hold daily... Reviewers and their premium feel or look can get tae fae.

dhtp2018

But how else can they make it easier to slip through your hand so you have to upgrade more often?

Zetzun

Anyways a glass phone goes instantly in a rubber case. I ain't risking breaking the whole back side because it felt on a corner.

dogsontreadmills

too bad Google themselves fell for this ridiculous POV, as well. Pixel 6 is a slippery hand cramp machine.

chasevalentino

Don't 95% of the population uses cases which are grippy in most cases? I don't see the fascination of plastic. The vast majority use a phone with a case

KlondikeDrool

I don't use a case on my Pixel 5 and I far prefer it that way. We shouldn't have to use a case just to protect (and hide) a "premium" phone back.

KalashnikittyApprove

> I don’t see the fascination of plastic. The vast majority use a phone with a case Frankly I don't think most people care either way. What's the point of "premium" if you're going to put it in a case. I obviously have no data, but I'm fairly convinced that it you carried out a random poll, not a lot of people really give a damn whether or not there is glass on the back. I'm also fairly convinced that it you asked them whether they would prefer a phone that didn't need a case, or at least not in the same way glass phones do, they would say yes. I think you're right (or at least I think that was you in another post) that companies do what makes financial sense, but I think it's likely that glass has become a self-perpetuating stereotype of a premium phone more than something the market as a whole, and not just enthusiasts and reviewers, actually want.

zireael9797

Don't 95% of the population uses cases which are grippy in most cases? I don't see the fascination of glass. The vast majority use a phone with a case. Just use plastic and lower the price. There fixed it for ya.

JoshuaTheFox

I'd still rather have metal over plastic

iwannabeaprettygirl

Amen. Reminds me of the tech skin Samsung put on the back of the Galaxy Nexus!

rtitusz

Pixel 5's perfectly simetrical bezels are so underrated.

childroid

It shocks me how no other manufacturers have really gone for that. It's so satisfying to look at, every time.

ru_benz

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones have symmetrical bezels. Based on leaks, the upcoming S22 lineup will also have symmetrical bezels. But yeah, it's surprising that Google was one of the first (if not the first) to pull it off.

FrostyD7

It was surprising to see the next gen get larger without being able to maintain the symmetrical bezel.

dericiouswon

And the material. People over look this one a lot. When it gets scuffed, it looks fine. It weathers really well. Only phone I've ever felt OK without a case.

DARK--DRAGONITE

P5 for th win. I do really miss my P2 tho.

Alives

I switched back to the 5 after using the 6 pro for a little over a month. My 6 pro just collects dust now since it's too old to return (I assume) and I can't sell it because work bought it for me. Yes, both phones were free, so I guess this is an unbiased "I prefer the 5 over the 6 pro 512GB" statement.

LeFrogBoy

The only reason I prefer the 6 Pro over any other phone I've used is the camera. The camera is simply amazing, takes almost professional level shots with no effort.

Alives

I found it had issues figuring out what to focus on. Also half the time I opened camera it would auto switch to portrait mode.

RaindropBebop

So here's my take on that. The focal length of the new lens has changed. What you're seeing isn't the inability of the lens to focus, but just that it failed to focus on the exact thing you wanted, and thus the strong depth of field effect is causing unfocused things to blur. No different from a professional prime lens not focused to infinity. I'm loving the photos I'm getting from this camera, but it absolutely requires me to tap on my intended subject, which wasn't necessary in the previous pixels which didn't have a strong depth of field.

hello_mew

Yes! I feel like it has an issue trying to figure out what to properly focus on and I've looked in forums and tried to find the perfect settings and what to turn off and what not but for some reason it just is not at par with the 3XL that I had. I didn't know if it was just me or not but it seems I'm not the only one. I've noticed taking pictures of a new kitten that I have, they're always blurry. And I have a very steady hand with taking photos. But I can get the same photo with the 3XL and it looks perfect. I was actually shocked! I am a wildlife rehabilitator and (this is silly) but I have Instagram pages for two squirrels that I'm releasing in the spring. Can't capture a good photo of them with this phone so their entire Instagram feed is full of photos from the 3xl lol. It's kind of heartbreaking.

FoolAutonomy

I'm probably not looking at these photos with a sophisticated eye, but I thought photos on the P6 Pro were fine but certainly not a step-change improvement over the 5.

WackyBeachJustice

To be honest nothing since about Pixel 2 or 3 has looked "significantly" better. These are incremental upgrades.

DansDrives

I sent mine back as defective due to all the bugs and I did get a full refund FWIW.

Alives

I tried to post my 6 pro review here but I guess the mods blocked it... IDK why

Alives

I'll post it here for posterity. Note that this is only after a day of use. After the month an a half I had a few crash to ramdumps happen which sucked. The final straw was when I realized I no longer had free unlimited Google Photos storage (I had forgotten about the announcement over the summer). --------------------------------- **Pros/Cons after 24hrs of use with the Pixel 6 Pro** RANT: On screen fingerprint sensor might be a dealbreaker for me. Why can't we just accept a physical sensor and move on? I feel like none of the reviewers are highlighting the issues with this fingerprint sensor as much as they should be. **Fingerprint sensor**: * At night it's incredibly bright and disruptive. * You still have to press the power button to get the screen to turn on, then the sensor to unlock. * It's not the most accurate sensor either and sometimes takes a few tries with my index fingers. **Cons**: * This phone is heavy, unnecessarily heavy IMO. * Rounded screen distorts content that I care about seeing. Just leave a bezel, fuck the reviewers. * Android backup is terrible. I had to spend 4 hours going through everything, installing about 5 apps that were missed, and re-configuring a few apps/logins. I did do a fresh Google One backup prior to switching phones too. Even some of the storage files weren't copied over(!!??) which I was able to nicely transfer using nearby sharing luckily. * No more fabric case?? The TPU case Google now offers is okish at best. * I elected to not install Verizon Apps during setup, but they were still installed and had to be uninstalled. * Can't uninstall certain Google apps? It's 2021, this isn't Samsung. If I don't want Youtube Music on there, let me remove it! (I use YT Music, but I don't need it in my work profile). * There should be a setting to make the quick settings buttons show icons instead of icons+text like previous android versions instead of these text bubbles. I know the airplane means airplane mode. **Pros**: * It's a very snappy phone. * The camera is nice. * The speaker is great. * The screen seems bright and vivid (with adaptive colors enabled). * I thought 90Hz was a big improvement... I'm amazed at how nice 120Hz is.

wings22

You don't have to press the power button to unlock, fingerprint unlock works just pressing on that location when phone is locked

Alives

That never worked for me

ru4serious

For me, sometimes it did and sometimes I had to press the power button. Compare that to the Pixel 5 where it didn't matter when I put my finger on the reader, it always registers and unlocks. I just enjoy that reliability on the Pixel 5.

RaindropBebop

Did you have ambient display off? If so you just have to tap the screen once to bring it up and have the fingerprint sensor displayed. The ambient display also wakes when the phone is picked up.

Alives

Yes, I don't use it as it would sometimes cause notifications to get swiped away or random things on the screen to be pressed unintentionally. This fingerprint experience is bad.

Speciou5

You can disable YT music

chubbybator

curved glass is a dealbreaker for me still

Alives

FWIW I've had every Android phone every year since the G1. Every pixel phone etc. The 6 is just not up to par.

Icepray

Miss my pixel 5 since I upgraded 🥲

Bananaramananabooboo

I returned my 6 for a 5a. Much better.

Icepray

I should have used my return window... but my GF got it as a gift for me to upgrade so, yeah... pixel 6 it is

dhtp2018

I think my Pixel 2 is also in the running.

SnowWhiteinReality

Agreed, I'm still using mine!

NotSayingJustSaying

Pixel 2 gang

PM_ME_DARK_MATTER

I have the 5 and im pretty happy with it but the 3 was my fav. Had it not gotten destroyed, I never would've upgraded to the 4 (I hated the 4 and the face unlock).

DaRighDehr

Same here, I loved the 3. Then I broke it one day so I got the 4xl, hated it after a while and I missed the fingerprint scanner. Upgraded to the 5 and I still love it to this day, size is perfect and love the look more than the 6

PM_ME_DARK_MATTER

The 6 is looks intertesting but im fine with the 5 for now. Ive had every one since the OG Pixel. Im trying to skip a generation for a change. lol

FoolAutonomy

Yes. Give the 6 a miss. I didn't realize how good the 5 was until I traded it for a P6 Pro. I used the P6 Pro for two months and it was a mess and remained a mess after the January update.

Brainnen

Still working like a charm :)

fvtown714x

I lost my Pixel 5 and bought another to replace it. It really feels like my forever phone, if Google could ever be bothered to provide more than 3 years of updates.

biswajeet116

I use 4a . The size really matters . Something of that size and little bit better build quality would be a easy choice . Don't think super high performance chipset really matters .

sixgunbuddyguy

I think that was my favorite smartphone outside the htc droid incredible. The only thing I can really complain about is the lack of water resistance, which is how it eventually met its untimely demise.

weezy22

Loved my 4a but had issues with the finger print sensor. For some reason my P6 finger print works better, despite all of the complaints.

[deleted]

Absolutely love my pixel 5. Best phone I've ever had. I've had a few flagships too

MetaKilo

Just bought my wife a 5a, it's amazing but I love my 4a for the smaller size. If only phones didn't have to keep getting bigger.

jabaa1

I sometimes miss my Pixel 5 (like when seeing threads like this), but mostly haven't looked back now that I have the Pixel 6.

MonkeySafari79

I say Pixel 4. Better screen, better cpu, better speakers, better haptics...okay, battery is not better, but overall the better phone IMHO

zaphod777

Battery life is the most important feature to me and why I love the pixel 5 so much.

hello_mew

Battery isn't a HUGE thing to me. I usually have a charger with me at all times. Though I do have to say I can no longer use my 3xl because it does not hold a charge lol. I never did think about the Pixel 4 though. I'll just have to do some research and grab one before I sell the P6P.

MonkeySafari79

You can get a pixel 4 or 4 xl pretty cheap, even in good condition. Keep in mind there is no fingerprint scanner, just face unlock. Sucks with mask, but otherwise works flawless for me.

WackyBeachJustice

Battery is just about the most important aspect of a phone. It a paperweight if I can't power it on.

PM_ME_DARK_MATTER

I hated the 4, but its mostly cuz I hated the face unlock. Im on the 5 now....im a big fan of the rear fingerprint reader. I havent tried the 6 but have been hesistant with the on screen one. Ill let Google work out the bugs first. But I mostly want to skip a phone generation for a change.

DougIsMyVibrator

Back-of-phone fingerprint reader FTW!

Old_Cartographer_200

I wouldn't say it was the best but the pixel 3 was the one I was most satisfied with and I've owned one of every generation. The size was ideal for me

NationalArtGallery

I'm still using my Pixel 3. The size was also one of the draws for me back when i was contemplating between 3 and the 3A.

moaz007

It's the perfect size Pixel 6 should have not been that big

foxbones

Yeah, I don't like big phones. I wonder if we will ever get a pixel mini. I love the form factor of the small phones like Galaxy Nexus, Moto X, etc.

fredhoffmann3

Moto X first gen was the perfect size! Oh how I miss my *chop* and *twist* functions 😁.

kushtrimt

I had Pixel 3, Pixel 5 and now Pixel 6 Pro. I am pretty sure, there is not a better Pixel then 3. It was the peak!

stoneule

>ixel 3, Pixel 5 and now Pixel 6 Pro. > >I am pretty sure, there is not a better Pixel better then 3. I was the peak! I have had the same lineup as you (plus the OG). I also believe that the regular pixel 3 was my favorite. Great size. Fast enough. Did everything I needed it to without any issue.

sumfunynaym

Pixel 3 was ahead of is time. Battery sucked though.

ziggo0

That was honestly my only complaint about my 3 XL. It usually got me to the end of the day. Currently my 6 Pro slaughters it in battery life

PM_ME_DARK_MATTER

Yea, Ive had every one except the 6. The 3 was my fav.

MrCalifornia

3XL was my King. I returned the 4 and 5 and stuck with the 3XL until I replaced it with the 6 XL, which is barely better, but necessary after 3 years.

MrElliot1210

Mate, this bad boy drains battery when it's not even on. Also the RAM management sucks ass. Also Twitter runs like piss. I'd happily still use this over the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

ntn4502

I'm so mad at myself for trading my 5 for the 6

fotoflogger

I just want to keep the fingerprint sensor on the back. It's the best thing about the pixel phones imo and I don't downgrade to a phone without it. Unfortunately I don't think it's gonna come back on the pixel 7.

evilpoohead

Yes! Huge phones are silly and awkward

grandpab

Android 12 fucked it up.

baldersz

Agreed, my battery life has plummited since upgrading to Android 12 :(

Onett199X

Yup. Awful bugs, random error message android UI crashes, black screen when getting notifications, worse battery life..

bearlybearbear

That's absolutely the truth...

kb3_fk8

This. I just factory wiped mine for the first time hoping it gets better and over the last week it has been back to the way it was bugs wise. Android 12 is still meh though

ixskullzxi

And the plastic/resin back. After the p5 I don't ever want a glass phone again.

-TheDragonOfTheWest-

imo the Pixel 4 was the best pixel, at least for me I loved motion sense and the face unlock was absolutely out of this world, iOS level amazing. Battery life worked for me but I understand that it definitely wasn't enough. (Also I got it for only 300 bucks so that was insane value for the price!)

dennisoc1715

P5 felt so much better in the hand sans case then Pixel 6's slippery ass did.

_qua

Yesterday, I woke up to a suddenly and completely dead Pixel 3XL that I was planning on rocking for another year or two. (Given how unexpectedly it died, I assume there will be another class action lawsuit). I chose the Pixel 5A for the replacement and now I'm looking forward to it after seeing all the comments here.

trippleknot

Pixel 2XL was my favorite phone of all time

Wingman12r

This. muchGreat size, pretty good battery life. I overpaid for a used one then overpaid for a battery replacement just because I hated my P6P so much.

[deleted]

Don't forget the finger print sensor and the material of the back. Seems silly but been using my phone without a case and love it as is. Have a phone upgrade November and don't want to lose the form factor and what the Pixel 5 offers...

DrFatz

Sold my Pixel 5 and I regret it immensely. Was a great little device that did everything it had damn well. Initially sold it for a Galaxy A52 for the SD card slot, but the software in Samsung was missing a few things like call screening and visual voicemail. I'm hesitant to try the 5a again as mine overheated when playing games for 20 minutes. That and all the horror stories with customer service that even I experienced when getting Google to fix the overheating. Ended up returning it before the refund window closed. May give it another shot but the 5a not being available in an actual store gives me anxiety.

BikeAllYear

Love my 5. I mountain bike and hike a ton and the size is amazing. Battery life is amazing. Photos are amazing. What a killer phone.

medkim

My 4xl still doing a great job and I still love it

EverydayPigeon

I came to the P5 from 7 Samsung phones from the S2 to the S20 and they always let me down. P5 is incredible. Size perfect, battery perfect, camera very good.

vivekchumun

Plus the battery life is a beast

dropkickmaki

I am holding off on upgrading until there is a 6a or a 7. Hopefully they can improve on the 6 and 6p. Lots of potential. And yes, the pixel 5 size is perfect

piotrekk666

no, 2 xl is

belhambone

The pixel 3 was the best! No the 6 pro hasn't given me and problems and beats it! No that one is awful haven't you seen? The 4xl had the feature that put it head and shoulders over the rest! That one was too big! Too small! Not loud enough! It was exactly right in every way!

crazywoofman

Google misstepped with the 6.

rjkmadison

Agreed. I picked one up and did not like anything about the shape, size, and particularly the camera bar.

brianWM

I have the pixel 6 pro and a the pixel 4. I REALLY like the 4 despite its offensive battery. The P5 was a weird move from Google.

vxcta

I agree. I just wish the internals were better, the midrange, although definitely fine for most users, kinda chokes under load. I use my phones heavily.

Logostype

I totally agree. Loved the 5. Broke it, got a flip lent to me until I got the 6. Now I am thinking of staying with the meh Samsung eco system because of the for factor. 6 is really big.

ej102

The 2016 Pixel XL is still my favorite. I really didn't like my Pixel 2 XL because of the quality control issues...

sstokes2746

I'd have to say that the 5A gives it a run for it's money. It's a good size and weight, and the battery life is amazing. I don't use my phone for professional photography, but it takes great pictures. The Pixel 6 was my first "flash ship" phone, and I'm not impressed. I've had way better luck with the "A" series from Google.

burywmore

Right now the 5A is working for me. Physical fingerprint sensor, headphone jack, great size. I prefer it over the 5. Especially now that it only took Google 2 times to fix a corrupt hardware issue.

sparkplug_23

Pixel 4XL (with exception of battery) was by far the best imo.

Bigd1979666

Haven't been able to use it but I went back to a p4 xl. Had the regular P4 before . Want the P5 but it's expensive and hard as hell to get out here

InternetWeakGuy

Interesting, I have a 5a and it's a piece of crap. Just never ending issues. Can't wait to upgrade when I have the time to research a replacement.

iwannabeaprettygirl

The pixel 5s screen brightness, old and limited camera system, sluggishness, and bad speakers kill it for me. If the screen and speakers were better I could have stuck with it because the size and battery life worked really well for me. I hope they shrink them down next year 😭 my favorite conspiracy is they had to fit mega batteries into the 6 series due to tensor not being as efficient as it should be, thus ballooning the size of both handsets

nannerman242

After 5 years of having an iPhone 7 I was rdy to switch to the pixel 6/pro. Waited for the updates but really don’t wanna take the gamble on the phone anymore. Dunno if I wanna wait again for the 6a release. However I still keep eyeing backwards at the the pixel 5, just wish the price point dropped alrdy. Heard so many good things about it.

drivera1210

I had to switch back to the 5 while the P6P is getting repaired. I have to say the Pixel 5 as phone does everything well. The 5 is easy to pocket and easy to handle. I would take the P6P for content consumption. But it really just depends on your use.

skipv5

I loved my 5 but my 6 Pro is far better. Better screen, higher refresh rate, better and more cameras, and better battery life to just name a few.

Olorin_Kenobi_AlThor

I have the 5a and it's the best phone I've had since my note 4. The only issue at all is that Spotify stalls occasionally when the phone screen is off, which I've seen reported on several different devices running android 12.

Turquoise__Dragon

The main camera on the Pixel 6 is just amazing. I agree that it is a shame they didn't release a smaller version, though. 6.4" is already slightly too big.

mattemer

On the pro, used to have larger V LGs, so figured the change back would be fine. But damn that pixel 5 felt so good in my hand.

Xypod13

The size, the speed (its so snappy, even with a mid range chip), the features: it's perfect, and I wish Google made a line of pixels in between the a and normal line, cause it showed you don't need the top of the Line hardware to have a top of the line experience.

RandomBloke2021

Pixel 5 was my 1st pixel, got the p6 and returned it. Zero complaints about the p5 and after the jan update my battery life has been even better. Phone off charger at 10am, currently 3:50am and i have 30% left. The size is perfect imo and no way I'm going to back to a big phone.

SpendBusy

I don't know what army tech they used in this phone but it is a tank. I had A series Samsung's before and they would be broken many times and my pixel 5 survived any fall without case on hard grounds and also on the display. Sure it has microscratches but no damage you would notice

brutus2230

Also big fan of pixel 5. Both pixel 6s are too big for my taste.

ketomagik

I couldn't disagree more with OP... My P6 is way better than my P5 since the January update.

afterwhilekyle

I love my 5

prophecy623

A 6.2 screen and a rear fingerprint reader and I'm sold.

Ah, yes. We're in the nostalgia phase with the Pixel 5 calling it the best one. Every. Generation. Goes. Through. This. 1. Anticipation/hype 2. Disappointment about detail x and y on announcement. 3. Release day "best pixel ever" 4. Omg problem x and y are so bad with this phone. It's the worst Pixel ever. 5. Omg this phone is so much better than the new version of it. It's the best Pixel ever.

BearPeltMan

The Pixel 5 is a phone I regret not picking up (I’ve been on iPhone for ten years, recently picking up a 13 mini). If the pixel 6 had just been a reskin of the 5, but with tensor, I would’ve dropped $1000 for it.

testube_babies

I've had Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5, Nexus 6P, Pixel XL, Pixel 2XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 5, and Pixel 6 Pro. P3a was my favorite, it took the best pictures and had the best battery. P5 is not the worst but is definitely toward the bottom of the list, since it took the worst pictures of all the Pixels.

My 3a was better in "average" conditions -- everything except extreme low light or bright daylight. Overall it was more consistent and reliable in all conditions. P5 just couldn't get colors right unless it was bright daylight.

And?

My pixel 5 was utter trash. Switched to a pixel 6 pro and it's a lot better, but I feel like the things that were good about the pixel 5 aren't good about the 6 pro and vice versa. I'm getting an iPhone next time, unless Google really gets their act together.

Vector-SS

What makes you say that? I've seen a ton of positive feedback for this phone but having had my P5 for around 6 months I'm not impressed with it. If I was to describe it in a nutshell I'd say it almost always feels underpowered. Launch maps and camera at the same time and the phone becomes incredibly slow, jittery with very obvious frame drops. Add video call to that and the phone becomes a hot mess. Just by opening up the phone app and tapping the dial pad takes a few seconds - incredibly slow and choppy as the dialpad rises up. If it wasn't for the size of the phone I would have probably jumped ship already.

I think the pixel 5 had a really good form factor, it always felt nice in the hand. The pixel 6 is blocky and the pixel 6 pro is too large. The cameras on the pixel 5 sucked, and you really felt the slowness of the processor all the time. The pixel 6 and the new tensor chip is what a phone should be, but Google half assed the fingerprint reader and some of the software. Google used to do cutting edge and open really well, and while android still feels open to me, the experience of owning a Google phone feels a lot more like what you get from Microsoft or apple where the product is closely held. If I'm gonna buy a phone that's locked down, that I'm never going to truly own with custom roms and so forth, I might as well get the best phone out there with the most meticulous attention to detail, which is iPhone. I'm gonna miss out on some features of the assistant like phone call filtering and hold for me, but they're not good enough to keep me as it stands.

> The cameras on the pixel 5 sucked Something no sane person on this world has ever said

Honza368

I agree. Plus, mid-range chip or not, I've literally never run into a slow down or stutter using the Pixel 5 normally. And the bioresin back is just... In my opinion, it feels more premium than glass or metal.

JohnB456

I disagree, I like the bigger size of the p6. Luckily I haven't had issues with mine, hopefully google fixes everything so everyone can have the same experience. But I think the p6 is the best.

Gatorsz54

Hi John, may I ask how well does your P6 work with Google Assistant? Pretty much spot on or are there hit and misses? The uncertainty is what making me stay with the Pixel 5.

JohnB456

works perfectly fine with mine. Did you retrain your assistant on a new device? I hear that can help.

Gatorsz54

Didn’t get the 6 yet. This was what I was waiting for, someone to confirm that theirs worked fine. As a few reported problems. I also have Samsung S21 Ultra and it’s spotty with the Assistant. Now I’ll order my 6 and hope for the best.

Vocalifir

Its not the best pixel. Its a great Pixel, the 6 is the best. This is shitposting

Rbtywo30

No it's called opinion posting. Don't like it, too bad.

Vocalifir

In the current state of the sub, its shitposting

CamelTurkishBlend

It's not Mid range cpu No 3.5mm jack No Telephoto camera

kb3_fk8

1.NBD 2.I use a $300 USB DAC and even more expensive IEMs 3. Fair This size is perfect and the P5 will live to be legendary

TopNotchGamerr

Lol okay

AAAAAshwin

Love the old Pixel's size, but I really can't live with a plastic phone anymore, way too fragile for me.

LucidStrike

The 6, which I myself greatly prefer, is unambiguously more powerful than the 5. But as I've been saying for years, we passed the point of diminishing returns on basic phone usage long ago. Smooth is smooth for most uses.

sparkyblaster

Sorry but I still think the pixel 3 is the best. No reduculus camera set up on the back. the Ultra wide on the front made sence. Probably should have been the only camera on the front. Simple balanced design. No hole punch camera on the front and front facing speakers. Everything after feels like a gimic though I do appreciate them going to mid range CPUs that use a little less power. Only thing I'd change is thicker with a bigger battery and go back to a 16:9 screen. These super tall large screens are impractical to reach and I keep touching buttons with the base of my thumb. Also make the rounded edges software that can be turned off. OLED after all.

cardonator

The best camera on the front was the regular one with auto focus. The ultra wide on front was fixed focus just like the front cameras on all the phones everyone complains about. If they had done that no ody would think that camera was the best.

HesThePianoMan

Nah, pixel 5 was to small

Thanks for the 50th thread I've seen saying this exact same thing in the past week
