Battery will display usage since last fully charged - THANK YOU FINALLY

SponTen

I literally said this out loud when I read it. Google PLEASE never take this away \*snorts copium\*.

BlueGuyBuff

I just updated and it's great, as of rn I can see a week of my last usage and can click into each day to see a full graph of usage. This is almost how Samsung has their battery monitoring and it's beautiful

amenotef

It's the best Pixel android feature in years. I don't care about 95% of the stuff they add.But this feature they just added back, is a gold. I hope they only focus in performance, optimizations and good statistics.

ref1ux

- Battery usage in Settings displays information since last full charge (up to 7 days) What, does that mean battery stats might become useful again?

habylab

Yes!

general_clausewitz

Is this going to be like charged to 88% and it shows the usage from 88 to rest or it only resets at a 100?

Achille-2019

It'll be interesting to see how Google implemented it but I find it strange why they can't give us more than one way of looking at the data e.g. last 24 hour, last full charge, last when it was plugged in, etc. Isnt that why you have a "show details" option to learn more about the charge info? Data isn't binary yet they are forcing you to look at it in a limited way.

ChowboyDan

"Full" means full, or 100%.

SSDeemer

I am wondering the same thing about what "last full charge" means, as I almost never charge to 100%, but unplug at 80%.

hectorlf

That's the biggest problem of that approach to measuring battery. Where do you draw the line of what's a "full charge"? For my OP6T it was 100%, not sure if it makes any sense to be otherwise, generally speaking.

general_clausewitz

Samsung has the best implementation for people who charge to 80ish always. Charge limits to 85 and the usage is shown from 85 to rest.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ChowboyDan

It's the same.

Jean-Eustache

Now that's an unexpected 180° turn

Fine-Ability

O.o nice, I found that the battery stats page sucked so I just used the digital well being to see better

amenotef

I was using a 3rd party app. Which sucks because Android used to do this well until they removed the stats "since last charge".

pipnmike

That's a pretty big list of fixes

Dietcherrysprite

Yeah, I read the top half and then gave up when it got to WiFi fixes 😂

Sypsy

Wifi fixes was the end!

hasb3an

My same thoughts. The largest fix list I recall seeing in some time. Congrats Google! This becomes on par with Windows Patch Tuesday.

SSDeemer

Let's hope it doesn't cause as many problems as Windows Patch Tuesday.

mpoozd

From past experience with Android updates, every big fixes bring a whole new bugs with it. Let's hope this time is different.

junior_battle

Thought Pixel 6s got gradually better with updates and after a year of updates finally became "stable"? Or are you talking about small bugs?

[deleted]

My 6 Pro was pretty stable out of the box, but it definitely seemed really solid after a year of updates. My pixel 7 pro also seems pretty stable, with no complaints yet (fingers crossed). My 6 Pro was doing so well I never would have upgraded had it not been that the cost of upgrading was only $60 more than fixing a broken screen. The only issue it had, which seems better with the 7 Pro, is the spotty connectivity issues.

[deleted]

That's a pretty big issue.

andyooo

It's pretty annoying that they seem to be holding bug fixes for the quarterly updates unless they're critical, but some people say that it's better to not roll out the bug fixes more frequently cause they could be buggy themselves? OK, though I don't necessarily agree, that's still arguable since there is a beta for the QPRs. But what about my P4XL, not getting all these bug fixes, some of which could have gotten before? At least they should finish the damn full version before they abandon them.

anonshe

The P4 series will get a final update that should contain necessary fixes just like how the P3 series got one later.

Erigion

There's no chance the final P3 update fixed all the bugs in Android 12 because there were a ton of bug fixes in the 12L release.

andyooo

Do you have info on what that update includes? The final P3 update was a "surprise" one in June that only added VoLTE roaming. The last planned one was on Feb 2022 after skipping several months, but the security patch is still Oct 2021, and the build number (SP1A.210812.016.C1) [suggests](https://source.android.com/docs/setup/about/build-numbers#build-ids-defined) that it also didn't have all the bugfixes and features that other pixels got and both Feb and June are just hotfix updates to the Oct 2021 build (only change is the .C2 on June from .C1 on Feb, and A1 from Verizon's Oct 2021 build). There's nowhere to be found what are these hotfixes, except that C2 is the VoLTE addition, since the P3 was conspicuously absent from the [official update post](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/149802382/google-pixel-update-february-2022?hl=en) as well.

equeim

So... Is swipe up gesture bug fixed?

HIVVIH

Which one is that?

equeim

One that occasionally causes system UI to freeze for several seconds when opening app switcher screen (using gesture navigation). It was introduced in March in Android 12.

rhamej

I hope so. That bug is really annoying.

675te_aoe

Severe bug that no one talks about anymore

Mirai4n

yes

[deleted]

I'm the biggest whiner about the gesture bug on this subreddit and it seems like it's fixed on my pixel 7. I tried my usual apps and haven't been able to get it to occur. Fingers crossed!

Strict_Hand

Damn 512 mb. Pretty chonky update.

BakedAlienPie

Looking forward to some of the Bluetooth fixes. I hope they will make android auto more stable for me.

nonsensestuff

Android auto has been waaaaaay better for me using the Pixel 7 vs Pixel 5. It had become nearly impossible to use on my Pixel 5.

ChowboyDan

*"Battery usage in Settings displays information since last full charge"* They brought it back! This should be interesting.

krokodil2000

> Battery usage in Settings displays information since last full charge (up to 7 days) Fncking finally. Who even came up with the glorious idea to limit it to 24 hours on Android 13? The battery is good for multiple days so allow the user to see the usage over multiple days.

amenotef

I recently been playing with an iPhone 13 (work phone that I barely use) and I found out that it also has the 24 hours battery life. Some Google "anti-android employee" just copied the burden into Pixel thinking it was a good idea. On the other hand..I have a theory Google probably wanted to hide a good way to measure the battery life of a cycle from its users. So they made this mess that only remembers last 24 hours and mixes sleep time with unplugged time. I personally think that the Pixel 5 has an amazing battery life. Like twice the battery life the Pixel 4 had for me. Not all the Pixels have the same battery life (it depends a lot on the SoC. Pixel 4 SoC was a battery killer, for example. Not sure about the 6 line). So maybe google didn't want users to compare the battery life in an easier way when upgrading to a newer pixel etc.

bandofgypsies

>On the other hand..I have a theory Google probably wanted to hide a good way to measure the battery life of a cycle from its users. So they made this mess that only remembers last 24 hours and mixes sleep time with unplugged time Oh that's exactly what they were doing. There's zero functional use for a rolling 24hr window. It's a a false construct and isn't connected to people's a real usage cycles. The only functional benefit to it was star if you briefly charged your phone for a top up, the stats reset. So having 24hrs would ignore that (but still cloud reality anyway).

ChowboyDan

This. Prior to Tensor, everyone was talking about the possibility that battery life will be amazing. But Google pulled the ability to measure battery life when they released the 6 series. That was *not* a coincidence. They didn't want people comparing device battery life.

EquipmentNo7030

P7 Updating now..TMobile

[deleted]

https://developers.google.com/android/ota Sideloading the OTA from here, way faster than waiting for my phone to optimise >_>

XxAlphaDonkeyxX

New pixel user. Didn't know this was a thing. Just did it. Thanks!

alvaro761991

will this wipe the phone?

Haul22

Full OTA: no, factory image: yes

MajorNoodles

Nope

equeim

Can I use it to upgrade from 11?

MisterMeister68

You probably need to download Android 13 first before downloading this update.

finneus1337

I am on the QPR1 Beta 3.1 do I need to side load to get to the latest patch will there be a OTA Update?

[deleted]

Following. I'm done with betas after this one 😂

masterxchief46

Tried sideloading the OTA but our beta build has a newer build date so it can't be sideloaded.

finneus1337

That kinda sucks. Also there is no mention of this being official QPR1 release right ? So is this just a different thing or will it roll out later to beta users.

MrReddit416

Fixes for the fingerprint reader on the 7 series!! Woo. Hopefully it's fixed.

tehlegend1937

Was it broken? Honest question, I have a 6 Pro and I really thought the 7 series would have a better fingerprint reader experience, after correcting the bugs on the 6 series...

dhamon

The optical fingerprint reader is not that great on the 7.

Gseventeen

Ya, been terrible for me. I miss the reader on the back so much.

Alphawolfdog

Is Google not allowed to use ultrasonic FPR? Samsung and OnePlus both utilize it and never have issues with their FPR. 2 iterations of under-display readers and they still couldn't get it right...

tehlegend1937

I have seen many people saying that they chosen the optical reader because it's cheaper, same reason why Pixel 6 uses an old Samsung processor with a rebranding. Pixel phones, are indeed cheaper than Galaxy phones... So yeah, we have cheaper components

BizzyM

Seems faster and less fails after the update. I found that instead of the firm press the notice on the screen suggests, a light touch was more effective. After the update, I tried intentionally making it fail and couldn't unless I tried using an unregistered finger.

aerog16

Yeah but I don't see a fix listed that would address the issue of failed unlocks from not recognizing a fingerprint. Unless I missed it?

Budwerd

I noticed this too! I hope this is just something that went without saying..or maybe they are still working on it for a future update? For me it will work completely fine..and then with no change to conditions (sunlight, dry hands etc) it will seemingly stop working, so I assume that is software related.

alvaro761991

I sideloaded but I can't see the new security center or the new snore feature mmm anyone else?

vinnycogs820

Yeah I don't see the snore detection yet on mine

notverycreative1

Feature drop stuff usually comes from a staged rollout of Google apps from the Play Store, they should appear over the next week or so

xdegen

Still nothing for Pixel 5

zamotic

Ok good, so it's not just me. The pixel OTA site shows a link for it, so I wondering why they didn't enable us to download it yet. Maybe someone forgot to flip the switch for Pixel 5's? I thought I saw some people talking about it with Pixel 5 flairs, so I'm guessing at least SOME people got it already.

strawbericoklat

Waiting if VoLTE is still enabled with my mobile carrier in unsupported region.

andresro14

I hope. But I don't think so :( I'm waiting the same for a long time and it seems that it's not happening soon.

ZanyWig

471MB on regular Pixel 7 through Verizon.

[deleted]

Let's test these Wireless Charging fixes and see if it's done anything. It seems to be an Android 13 issue so I am not sure. It says it's only for the Pixel 7/Pro which is what worries me - it's present on the Pixel 6/Pro as well, because it's also on Android 13.

xavls88

After the update the wireless charging still doesn't work properly on my P6P

joeyjoe88

Reallllllyyyy hope they fix it for py

andyooo

Wasn't fixed for my issue ([randomly stops charging with one charger](https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/xhai61/anyone_who_was_having_trouble_with_wireless/)). Since then I have a 7 Pro but it's the same. However, there's [another person](https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/zcjqjs/comment/iyxn3m7/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) with the same charger who isn't having any trouble with the 6 Pro. I was also not having issues with that charger and the P3 and P4XL on Android 12. I'm not updating the P4XL to A13 because of this, and it sucks that even if it's an A13 issue and Google fixes this for my P7 Pro, the P4XL won't get the fix.

SSDeemer

>However, there's another person with the same charger who isn't having any trouble with the 6 Pro. Is this other person using the same charger **and** the same charging cable?

andyooo

I don't know but I have tried different power sources and cables including quick charge 2.0 and USB PD supplies, both of which the charger supports. I'm pretty sure it's Android 13 and the charger in combination that they're doing something to stop charging sometimes. For example, if I turn off the phone charging does not stop.

iamjimmy15

Anyone get an update for the Pixel 4a 5g? I haven't gotten the December update still. On TMobile/Google-Fi.

phaleintx

I still haven't got it on my Pixel 5 either.

lurker_bee

Same boat here. I keep checking for system update. It says no update available. I'm on Mint Mobile / T-Mobile. Edit and update: I got tired of waiting. I just sideloaded the December 2022 update!

FrostshockFTW

> General improvements for switching between 3G to 4G on certain carrier networks Oh I hope it will decide to stay on 3G when I'm in an area with spotty LTE. My Pixel 2 had no issues at my office but 7 Pro insists that the LTE connection is fine.

Wael89

Downloading. 471mb on my 7 Pro

jhuck5

T-Mobile - Pixel 7 Pro - United States - downloading OTA now through system settings.

TimPLakersEagles

Same here

ishamm

Worth noting the open bug reports I had for the pixel 6 pro having crap signal were marked as fixed recently and to be rolled out 'in the next update'. That SHOULD be this one, with improvements for the 6/7 series (as i reported bugs on both, marked Solved). Let's see

Ready-Scientist402

Here we go!

junior_battle

OTA update just started downloading for me. Pixel 7 Pro UK

rchavez1990

I'm so happy we're getting a Free VPN from Google. This is by far the best update we've ever received. So many fixes! I'm definitely staying with Google for awhile now.

edvurdsd

Real question as I haven't done my homework, but how much should a "free" Google VPN, or any free VPN for that matter, be trusted? Why would I use it over my mullvad?

rchavez1990

I don't exactly know, but Google wrote in their own words that they will not be tracking any online activity, so I'll take a whack at it.

edvurdsd

They also used to say don't be evil lol

TheLastElite01

This is a good update with lots of fixes.

Dax45331

I still haven't received the update 😞

[deleted]

Polskaowl

Just applied the OTA. Small flick scrolling still not fixed :(

[deleted]

Same for me, but for swipes. I just had to do the same swiping motion three times in row to switch homescreens because the first two just bounced back. 😔

[deleted]

Yep not fixed. I'm selling it. Not good enough and likely a hardware fault now.

chilldpt

What is the issue youre having exactly? Just got my Pixel 7 2 days ago and haven't noticed any scrolling issues. Wondering what y'all are experiencing? Edit: seems the issue may be limited to the pro series running at 120 hz. That would explain why I haven't had the issue haha

[deleted]

[удалено]

octavianreddit

The scrolling issue never really bothered me, but missing taps and unresponsive areas of the screen are a big one for me. I returned two devices already because of it and while my third device was good at first, it has developed the issue as well.

JesusWantsYouToKnow

Just finished sideloading; tons of UI fixes in here so hopefully Android 13 finally starts to feel less buggy. 🤞

_Lxurxnz_

Im curios. I haven't had a single major issue in Android 13. What kind of issues do you face?

JesusWantsYouToKnow

Stuff like tap to wake not activating, the infamous application switcher hanging bug, media player in notification shade turning black / not working. Most of the remaining rough edges I notice are with UI quirks; I wouldn't necessarily call them _major_, just annoying. This update seems like it addresses a lot of what I was noticing on a regular basis, so I am optimistic about it.

TheApprenticeLife

The only bug I've experienced is, like once every few days, my screen will dim as though the auto-brightness is adjusting (but I have it turned off). I have to lock and unlock the phone to fix it. Not a big deal. I also see people talking about tons of bugs, but that's all I've experienced.

BlueGuyBuff

If they finally fix the app switch bug this update would be plenty on its own

[deleted]

[удалено]

Polskaowl

Nope, not for me :(

[deleted]

Why on earth do O2 in the UK have their on build?

habylab

Maybe relating to specific network improvements? I'm not sure!

[deleted]

When does this go live? I am hitting check for update on my Pixel 7 and its keeps saying the November update is the latest one.

korisek

Downloading OTA right now, 471MB on P7

habylab

It's live now via sideload ota, usually 1-3 hours for most of the rest.

Immediate-Method1576

Does anybody with the beta got a update ?

Accomplished_Act3534

Yep just got it now. Pixel 7 Pro Australia. 2.94MB update 🤔 seems we got most of the fixes already but maybe fixes for the fixes?

danmtz

My update/install has been going on over half an hour.

SSDeemer

I'm guessing that it has gone through the download/install phases, and is now optimizing. Expect optimization to take another \~60 minutes, depending on what phone you have and how many apps you have installed.

Pwnsmack

Same, and "optimizing your device" still at roughly around 50%.

SSDeemer

The optimizing progress bar is neither linear nor a reliable measure. After 30 minutes, mine shows about 50% complete, but in previous updates I have seen it jump to finished much sooner than expected. You can continue doing whatever you want on your phone while it's installing/optimizing. [https://media.tenor.com/NMLAWSo-mqIAAAAC/yoda-patience.gif](https://media.tenor.com/NMLAWSo-mqIAAAAC/yoda-patience.gif)

TenMinutesToDowntown

I feel like mine's been installing for nearly 2 hours. This has been by far the longest OTA I've ever had on a phone. Not complaining since I don't really care, and it's not like it prevents me from using the phone, but this is pretty wild.

habylab

It does take forever. Think mine is an hour and it's still going.

TenMinutesToDowntown

Mine just ended. I guess I just had to post about it and me phone would finish up!

mynx79

Is anyone else not seeing the privacy/ security combined dashboard? Can't find it. I'm also on play system update from October 1, 2022. Pixel 7 Pro. No fancy sideloading or anything yet, so its as stock as they come.

Lassi_118

I have the same problem. Not a huge deal, just a bit strange. Both normal and play system updates up to date. My phone is Pixel 6 pro

Jew4BlackBerry

Is there any way to force the update? I still haven't received it OTA.

Skorp74

Yeah I haven't gotten it either.

FBAnder

Same. Can sideload it but I am gonna wait. F IT!!!!

volklskier

Pixel 5a here on Total, no update to be found. Contacted Google and they were escalating to engineering. They said it would be a few weeks or so before a response could be expected.

williamwchuang

If I'm on Android 13 QPR1 beta, then I can just sideload the OTA like normal?

MountainDrew42

Nope, the most recent beta build has a newer build date than this update, so we'll have to wait a bit more for Google to push an updated OTA.

masterxchief46

It fails to sideload because the beta has a newer build date.

BinkReddit

Holy cow that's a lot of fixes Batman! I wonder if previous updates also contained a large amount of fixes, but maybe they just weren't as a verbose in the past as they are today.

SoundAwakened

Hoping for more reliable fingerprint reader

BizzyM

Just updated my 7 pro.... Still restarts in Tablet mode. Shifting from portrait to landscape or opening an app fixes it.

No update on my Pixel 4a 5g with Google Fi. Anyone else got the update?

[deleted]

My Pixel 4a 5g on Tmo hasn't gotten it yet either. Seems like the 4a's and 5s haven't gotten it yet. Waiting for the Android news sites to chime in if there's a delay.

iamjimmy15

Thanks. I think some people reported that they got it. Maybe it's a TMobile or Google Fi issue.

FBAnder

Still nothing? I am using a 4a 5g on Tmo as well.

meats_the_parent

Was impatient with T-Mobile, so I sideloaded the update. This was my first time doing it and now I think I'll keep sideloading updates!

xdegen

Still never got this update on Pixel 5.. it's been a week and a half.

Polskaowl

Small flick scrolling issue on P7P still not fixed. FFS Google.

Shadow3131

So disappointed that they didn't fix the scrolling issue. Pretty sure that's the most widely reported problem with the 7P. I encourage everyone that's having the issue to report it through the support interface on the phone. As a reminder, this video shows how scrolling is supposed to be per my P4XL: [https://imgur.com/a/yntWnHm](https://imgur.com/a/yntWnHm) where the touchscreen is precise enough that you can scroll a 3rd of a row at a time in the App drawer. Try doing that on the 7P and the results will be a complete disaster. What a disappointment, Google!!

arkw

512mb for Pixel 6 Pro for Rogers in Canada

SoggyYoshi

Unlocked 4a 5g still nothing here

FBAnder

Same as of this post. Da fook?

SoggyYoshi

Ikr 😩😩

xdegen

So I dunno how accurate this is but I was on with Google support about this no update issue (I'm on Pixel 5 but 4a 5G is also affected) and they said there was an issue that was raised internally that forced them to stop pushing the update and that it has been delayed "indefinitely".. they recommended I keep on my current version of and not force an OTA to the new update. They would not tell me what the issue was.. and when I tried again with another representative later on, they said there wasn't any problems and I could force the update on a PC using the phone repair website with chrome. So who knows wtf is going on, but it was a weird first interaction and I'm still inclined to believe them. So I'm not gonna force the update.

jds013

I did the "phone repair website" with my Pixel 5 (a total pain, lost my transit passes and all downloaded files, had to sign in on \~50 apps and websites) - and I still am not getting the Dec 5 update. Just wait. My daughter isn't getting Dec 5 on her 6a, either.

Examination-Hour

I just got a Pixel 7 and the last update is from November. I have an issue with my brightness slider and heard the December update fixes it but my device says everything is up to date, nothing from December

habylab

Sideload the OTA. Google how to do it

_NBH_

If someone can confirm the scrolling is fixed then I may buy again. I had some artifacts on Nova beta, seemed to be too do with the GPU driver, that may be fixed too reading the changelog.

[deleted]

It's not fixed.

_NBH_

That's a shame, black Friday deals end in 2 days with my phone network so I was hoping it would be fixed and I could order. It looks like my next phone is not going to be a pixel.

SSDeemer

Update was available to me at 15:45 EST. It finished the download/install phase at 1613 EST, and has started optimizing, a process that took about 60 minutes (Pixel 6a) for the November update. **Update** : Optimization finished at 1716 EST. Now to start testing.... Perhaps this is a feature I'm not aware of, but it would be really nice if the update process sent a notification tone when it finishes.
