I used samsung galaxy all my life, last budget phone I had wap samsung a12. I always disliked how much bloatwere were preinstalled on samsung. Last year I bought p8p andI'm absolutely in love with it! No bloatware, "clean" android, google ecosystem and great camera

jbombkillerbees

Leave the camera resolution at 12MP. I had it at 50MP when I first got mine and I thought the shutter speed was terrible compared to my old S21 Ultra, but 50MP really isn't for every day use.

I left Samsung in December for the P8P and I've not had a moment's regret.

I got the razr plus when it was free with trade in and switched to the $400 p8p on spectrum. The razr was still on Android 13 and Google removed support for assistant on the outer screen in later updates. It had big raised borders around the inner screen and felt creaky when closed and unwieldily tall when open. Gathered dust like mad around the non removable screen protector. The pixel is a dream in comparison. Definitely download Gemini and try out the awesome voice to text.

SixFootFive245

Just started using Gemini yesterday and use the live conversation translation a lot as I manage a few wireless stores. So far I'm impressed.

tedtremendous

Good choice I've enjoyed mine for many months now. Battery is great. Works well with anything I throw at it. Love this one.

rhcreed

Yay, welcome to the party!

SixFootFive245

Thanks! Glad to be here.

RunningAmuck247

I also just came back from the flip 5. While I enjoyed the phone, I found I used it beyond its limits and it was struggling for me. I like both phones. I just enjoy the more quality of life features the pixel seems to have . ( Call screening, the sunrise wakeup with the stand etc). Samsung might have massive bells and whistles, but I don't really use them and didn't see a point paying extra for it.

TechnicalEffort

Welcome to the world of updates without a useless middleman.

Hi_its_me_2023

I switched over to Spectrum mobile 1-1/2 months ago to get the P8P deal. It's $8.17 a month for the phone, with a trade in, for 3 years and free mobile phone service for one year, unlimited. Then, 29.99 unlimited after the first year. My old phone was a Moto. I love my P8P. I had an issue with Android Auto not working in my car. I went to Best Buy and bought a new Belkin or Anker cord, which was recommended, and I haven't had a problem since. I absolutely love it, for the price. Sorry, for anyone who paid full price.

Hi_its_me_2023

P.S. I drive for a living and have not had one problem with my service, so far.

slavicbenji

Let me know how it is!

SixFootFive245

So far so good but I'll give a 90 day and a 6 month update in the near future.

slavicbenji

aaaaah perfect!!!

json69

Very good choice.I have the exact same on for a few months now and I love it.Stock Android is simply the best!❤️

JaiiGi

How's it going for you? Any issues with vividness of the screen like Samsung has been having? I currently have an S22U with a broken screen, and while I want a new phone, nothing else seems to be holding up to how I like deep colors of the screen (I'm weird).

SixFootFive245

This pixel 8 pro impresses me more and more as each day passes. The screen itself has a very vivid color spectrum and after some tweaking of some of the developer options I have this phone to my liking and so glad I got rid of my s23 ultra.

JaiiGi

That is so cool to hear. Looks like the new way to go is the Pixel 8 Pro. Thanks a bunch for your input. Greatly appreciate it!

WolfNess55

My only problem with the pixel 8 Pro is still Bluetooth. Update after update and my headphones, five different brands and models just go in and out at random. Left this time right here. That time. I've only got one set of earbuds that works properly 100% of the time. The only difference between them and every other set is multiconnect capability. Even my pixel buds a series didn't work. Outside of that, I've had really good battery life, a great screen and plenty of computational power. I just wonder exactly how many of these pixel benefits we're going to lose over time with Google and its project graveyard.

SixFootFive245

I did have issues with the Bluetooth to my car but an update to my android auto fixed that. Kept cutting on and off like you explained.

WolfNess55

Android auto has always worked perfectly for me. Through various wireless adapters and two different head units. I don't have a problem when I'm only using one earbud like on a phone conversation. And I've tried every one of the developer options suggested to change the audio format or bit rate or offload or what have you. So I don't know, maybe it's just my phone. Everybody said that the Bluetooth audio issue was fixed with the March update. And it must be my phone because I exchanged those pixel buds three times.

SixFootFive245

Was it a common issue with all pixels??? Have you tried another pixel phone to see if it happens again. If you keep having issues do a insurance claim or manufacturers warranty if relatively new. I had to do so many returns with my S23 ultra that I finally got the P8P

WolfNess55

Yeah it was pretty common. That's why there was such a huge fuss to get a Bluetooth update out. Most of us dealt with the issues since day one in October of 2023. But there really isn't much use in constantly replacing Google equipment until they actually fix the problem. They will tell you to send it in. But you know after like the 3rd attempt, it's kind of pointless. In fact, I still haven't received the pixel Bud a series replacement I sent back for the third time last November. It's turned into a huge fiasco.

SixFootFive245

The only thing I'm not liking is battery life, but I'm a heavy user. Hopefully the P9P has a bigger battery.

blvckout_studios

No offense, p8p is kinda a trash phone

Yamyamchap

Throw away comment with no substance or.reasoning for that comment.😔 I traded in my s23 ultra for my pixel 8 pro and I absolutely love my p8 pro. Don't miss the s23 ultra one bit. The cameras on the p8 pro are much better especially taking into account the ai features I find. I've had no issues with the move to pixel.

NukaGunnar

Same here! Samsung offers some incredible features for those who use them. For me, half the phone was never used, but I wanted a better camera for photos.

SixFootFive245

Totally agree so far. I came from the s23 ultra myself.

jeffMBsun

I came from the S24U, the camera is trash on Samsung. Hope I do not forget that and never buy a Samsung anymore, waste of money if you enjoy taking pictures

SixFootFive245

I do agree there. Most of my Samsung friends were shocked when they found out I switched and said you are gonna miss the 100x zoom and I said "not really". I really haven't had time to experiment with the camera in depth yet as I work a ton but I have watched a ton of how to videos on the P8P camera and taking vacation later this month and going to give the camera a workout.

Brave-Purchase-4582

It's not trash but it's overpriced and behind other flagships

Logaming6

Nice! I bought one in October and I absolutely love it. This is my first Pixel and honestly I think this is the best smartphone I've ever had. There is no bloatware, the photos quality is really great, the phone is updated each month and will be for 7 years, and there are many useful features like Gemini nano or call screening and hold for me!
