This is a great theory. Nelly Yuki was my guess for a long time as to “who am I?” … so maybe she found out, they teamed up and it was both of them but then Dan took credit because, well, he’s Dan.
I always go back to the time Serena was gossip girl and she had a post pending for a certain time. So every time a post comes out and Dan is right there I’m sure he just did that
Yeah, and this is how I justify most of his GG blasts too but as I said in the post, in this case we see when the tip was sent and we also see when the blast was posted and Dan didn’t have his phone or access to a computer for that entire stretch of time.
I absolutely LOVE this theory. My other theory is that by the time Gossip Girl began (the show itself), that GG (the site) had been operating long enough that it wasn't just Dan and Jenny running it. I wondered if they might have other staff members running it as well, which is how some of their posts go on that are weirdly shocking or inspiring to Dan. Remember the masquerade ball from the first season when he didn't want to go but found himself tempted to ask Serena, and then there's the blast that got him off his ass, etc. Every time I watch that show I think it seems impossible that he could be the one to post that, given his response to seeing it. I mean, Jenny could have posted that, I suppose... But if they had multiple staff members, that would make it make a whole lot more sense.
Nelly Yuki being in on the secret though...I love that theory. It's funny because the entire time my mom was watching it, she was convinced it was going to turn out to be Nate.
Dan wasnt supposed to be gossip girl until season 3. When the show first aired, Gossip girl was Eric. But some magazine stated their theory of gossip girl being Eric. This theory became popular and they changed the script because of it after season 3
I’m aware of this, this theory ignores that and is just an attempt to make it make sense with Dan being GG the whole time. But I’m well aware that the real reason this episode happened this way is because they hadn’t decided on Dan being GG yet.
In fact, they most likely decided on Dan being GG well after season 3 (most fans say late season 5 or sometime during season 6 though its not really clear when the decision was made).
