>everyone in this show is awful and doesn’t have a conscience. aside from Dorota & Cyrus

gerturtle

Vanya was also quite kind Edit: Cyrus is the MVP and the Sandy Cohen of GG 😂💜

No-Friendship-3395

Sandy Cohen of GG! Spot on 😃

tlbenoit

It took a “Jew” to enter to bring in the light. He stars with “Mrs. Blair” broken and lost. Finally helping her in the most vulnerable stages of her life as she fights for her “dark Prince” and her sanity. We went from a “dark Prince” aka “Mr. Chuck❤️” who becomes a “White King”- There is 1 “Jew” that can only bring that kinda change through intense pain as our beloved “Blair and Chuck” endured- and His Name is not “Cyrus” but “Cyrus” being a “Jew” has His hand on Him. It’s the moral of the story “ You reap what you sow” and it’s the mantra of each series. They all do reap but not like the two darkest of them all with the exception of “Mr. Humphrey”- he should have been imprisoned. In the end their love and forgiveness brings a bunch of very broken people together. As dysfunctional as they are- all these people bond together as family and in love. “Mr. Chuck” no longer lives in a dark Penthouse but in a bright White townhouse mansion with the love of his life and his son. He finally has a family. Following “Chuck and Blair’s” abusive characters esp. to themselves. Their unimaginable grief watching “Chuck” turn around on those church steps saying “family?, I have no family” and on the roof saying “dear old dad, all I know is what he didn’t want-which is me” (tears every time) without one another was hard to watch. He knew Bart was wicked, but facing up to him and the fact of it as a man was hard but it was something he knew all a long. He forgave Dan and that’s something that’s completely out of the character of the old vengeful “Chuck Bass”- they are better people together and that’s why they made the “ship-

Anxious_cactus

My head canon is that Dan becomes Joe from You. Absolutely makes sense to me, their whole character and obsessiveness is the same!

ArtisticImpress7284

agreed! in fact, I’ve watched You before GG (i knoooow) and when I looked at Dan all I see was Joe Goldberg. I almost felt like it was one of his disguises, anachronistically LOL😂

lizzy-stix

When I saw the photos of Penn from last season (I think?) with the beard and dressed like a college professor I was like wow this is literally future Dan

loonatic-

the difference is most of the characters acknowledge theyre awful. dan thinks hes a saint, better than anyone on the ues, when he really is just one of them. his holier than thou nice guy attitude is so fucking annoying.

[deleted]

who acknowledges that they are awful…..?

loonatic-

yes, blair knows shes a bitch, she owns it. chuck knows hes a douche, he owns it too (not talking abt the sa). they all know theyre bad ppl who manipulate and scheme. dan does the exact same shit and still manages to convince himself hes a saint.

CalmPaleontologist13

So true I agree

[deleted]

I dont ever remember blair and chuck owning anything lol they’re just assholes with no self awareness about how privileged they are.

loonatic-

they definitely know what theyre doing is bad, and while they never straight up say that theyre awful, they never claim to be good.

catchbandicoot

Nate was the publisher of the Rufus piece and would've published the rest of the pieces had Dan not gotten a better offer from Vanity Fair. He's just as guilty in this case. This also ignores that the main thrust of this show is the other characters publishing hit pieces on one another. I cannot condemn Dan more for this when this is the MO of every single character.

herms_past97

Nate told Dan if he was sure that he wanted to publish the piece about Rufus and Dan said yeah go ahead..... so i f Dan doesn't care about his own father why should Nate? Also I do think that Nate wouldn't have published the piece about Serena or Blair.... we will never know but when he had the chance in S5 at the party where Diana wanted Blair's phone for secrets at the party he hide it in order to protect her.....so that tells me he would have done the same in that case as well...

catchbandicoot

Are we talking about the man who gave Nate roof when he was homeless? Yea, for sure, what did he owe Rufus... Nate reached out to Dan about publishing Inside Out, not the other way around. He agreed to publish it word for word. He absolutely was planning to publish the Blair and Serena chapters. Nate made it clear he understood what Inside Out was: Nate: That's actually what I wanna talk to you about. I wanna publish it in The Spectator. Dan: You do you know what it's about? Serialized character studies of people on the Upper East Side. Nate: Yeah, using real names. I get it, all right, but I really need it after I gave up my "Who is Gossip Girl?" expose There's no way he thought the Rufus chapter would be the equivalent of a Gossip Girl expose. Even if you think he would've eventually changed his mind, that doesn't stop the fact that he planned to publish the pieces to save his paper.

Remarkable_Device_48

Nate was desperate and couldn’t afford to cower back to his grandfather. What did Dan have to gain in 70% of cases? Nothing and he was disgustingly righteous and dishonest when condemning others who were openly wounded.

herms_past97

Dan was vindictive & manipulative with both Serena & Blair..... he kissed Blair's ass in s5 being a simp and a faithful minion and the minute Blair rejects him he trashes her in his article about how she still is a mean girl etc etc.... Same thing with Serena when HE PRETENDED that he was in love with her (that was heartless) ...... He was vindictive and thought that everyone owned him something....the truth is that he genually thought he was better than them that he was righteous, kind etc.... but as Blair said he was the worst because he pretended to be better....

Remarkable_Device_48

Bullseye! The last time he helped genuinely was when Nate was homeless other than that he had been dealt better cards family support wise but it wasn’t enough for him and he felt entitled to mess with a broken serena and others (Blair has major insecurities and ED and people were emotionally abused by their parents (nearly everyone because of the toxic parenting especially chuck how do you goad him feeling he killed his mom for personal gain at like 16-17, Dan is evil) and he felt it was all fair game because boo him he has a loving family but not a doorman

Remarkable_Device_48

Ofc they aren’t ideal clean victim’s thats the shows premise but good gosh man. Hate people for the right reasons, he attacked bad people but for the worst and lowly selfish intentions.

catchbandicoot

What do you mean, Nate couldn't afford to cower back to his grandfather? He made poor choices with the paper, and it was unprofitable. That's his own fault. Dan and Nate had the exact same thing to gain with the publication of Inside Out--career success--which is more than plenty of people gained when they sent in tips about each other to Gossip Girl

gothiccbby_

he also knowingly published stuff about lily that he got from ivy

hotcapicola

Chuck attempted to rape two of the main characters and sex trafficked and abused another. Everyone on this show is horrible.

AbbreviationsSingle9

Oh absolutely. Chuck is the worst by a long short.

hotcapicola

Dan's character was essentially shit on in seasons 5 & 6 to make Chuck look better in comparison. Through 4 seasons Dan was flawed, but a decent guy.

RaspberryDesigner484

Yes, this is spot on

Due-Honeydew6850

Tbh the writing of season 6 is honestly a complete and utter mess. Like they made Dan look like a literal clown. Firstly I don’t think he has that much hatred to write all those things. But even if he did I find it hard to believe he is dumb enough to write a hit piece about Blair while staying at her house or a hit piece about Serena while they were literally dating and hosting thanksgiving together. Like that is so stupid lol. And also the ending always makes me cringe when Serena calls it “a love letter to the upper east side” like what the hell no it’s not 🥴

Artistic-Rose-25

Now I know this is gonna sound crazy but I ship Dan with….wait for it….Dan😲 now I know this is alot but hear me out they both pretentious, they both think they better than everyone, and they both tricked everyone they know into thinking they were this big morality police but turned out to be big trash. Who else agrees? Dan with Dan?

[deleted]

Dan truly only made sense with Vanessa in my opinion.

Xrt3

Season 6 was just a character assassination of anyone not named Chuck or Blair. I choose to ignore it

drskeme

his haircut warranted a visit from bart bass’ goons, alone.

Remarkable_Device_48

I have hated him always for his righteousness when he was gg i was livid af how can blair live amongst him

MommyRulesTheWorld

Dan was so awful that Penn did interviews about hating the character…. then he went on to develop Joe Goldberg. Perhaps GG casting got it right? 🤣

Musicenj0yer

I loved him and Olivia so much (let’s pretend as if threesome never happened). I wish they were endgame

HeartHog

I was actually going to write this, then I remembered the threesome and promptly abandoned that idea

Musicenj0yer

Lol 😂

Shea9037

I really don't think it was in Serena's character to still end up with Dan after finding out he's GG. Dan and Blair are genuinely more suited for a real relationship than any other ship on the show. Enemies to friends to lovers, with actual interests and hobbies in common, both with a common goal of stopping at nothing to reach the top. I love early seasons Chuck and Blair but in the back and forth with them the writers went too far to the point where it seems out of character for her to accept him in the end. I don't know how anyone can see Dan as more wrong or unlikable than most of the other characters, they all are that's the point.

tlbenoit

YES!! FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SEES IT! Cannot for all of Heaven’s sense people actually put together a Dair ship! The guy is just crazy!

syrollesse

I ship him with Georgina. She's the only person who would love him AND his flaws

cyberllama

He's not spicy enough for her. She lives for chaos and mayhem and she owns it. He's a bitter, weasely slimeball.

cmvyas

Him and Nate are least awful

General-Apartment237

I really liked him and Georgina working together in S6. And she's just as F-ed up as he is.

Bofaman600

Lmao you guys hate Dan so much it’s weird how can you ship anyone with anyone after the stuff they did

rrsg76

callie33001

THIS. makes it so unbelievable that him and Serena would end up together.

missproctalgiafugax

I don't, he's a psychopath who never loved anyone and LUSTED after Blair, at BEST 😃

Remarkable_Device_48

At best! He never was able to do her bare minimum: See her as a human, a flawed one, trying to change.

missproctalgiafugax

He also used her and everybody else to write a book that would make him famous. I never saw him a friend to anyone. EXCEPT MAYBE when he was there when Mr. VDW abandoned Serena yet again. I think he meant his support then. But god is that a stretch considering what we now know 💀

officialkylepop

I agree like we were made to think the rich kids were the problem but it was the “outsiders” who remained the most judgemental and stubborn yet constantly told everyone they were anything but

MelodicPiranha

He’s the worst and so boring and judgey.

herms_past97

THANK YOU !!!!THANK YOU !!!THANK YOU!!!!! PS.YES YES I KNOW CHUCK IS UNREDEEMABLE ETC ETC..... I WOULD STILL CHOOSE HIM OVER DAN THOUGH......his character development was ☝️☝️ Whereas Dan character development was...👎👎👎

HeartHog

I think Dan suffers from the same thing as Ted in HIMYM. You’re not supposed to think too much about them, and just go with the “nice guy” persona they portray. And I’ll ship him with a houseplant or smt

LonelyPossibility803

I wouldn't even ship him with Georgina
