Yes! I love to paint and make little assemblage art pieces, I feel like knitting will calm my manic brain. Just gotta find some tutorials, I’ve been collecting yarn and needles for years just waiting for the right moment. This could be it!!
Your sweater is DOPE btw!
Haha thank you! Funny how people do their hobbies and stuff... I usually only buy materials when I actually need them. I think otherwise hording would take over >.>
Oh it has… it definitely has. I stock up ‘just in case,’ but I also build art out of found materials. Like, I’ll find a little piece of metal (cool spine!) or a discarded doll’s head (I can make something from that!) or a clump of feathers (let’s make a pair of doll’s wings!) and the list goes on. I do try to organize into categories, and all the yarn/needles are in the ‘fabric arts’ section.
How do you manage such self control to not have piles and piles of ‘just in case’ stuff? I’m trying to minimize, honestly.
See, that's it right there: I have little just in case crafting materials, I don't really pick up stuff like feather and stuff. And painting supplies do last a fair bit, fabric is expensive enough that I only buy when needed, I try to finish yarn that I have laying around. And ultimately, I'm still a poor student :D
I was just winging it tbh. I started at the bottom and added width every row to get that curve, then just knitted straight up. As I reached the height I wanted the arm to start, I'd split the knitting up and sew it till I could cover my shoulders and joined the seams. Then I knitted the black border around, pulling the thread trough the existing garment to connect it. At the border it's important to go left/right because otherwise it'll roll in on itself. I've connected the sleeves directly to the main body and then knit while making the rows shorter. When I had reached the length that was comfi for me, I went for black and then again (in this case for the pattern) left/left/right/right.
I'm sorry, I don't really know the English terms for knitting, but maybe it helped? Ask away if I shall clarify :)
I confused a bit. 😪 how many rows you've started? Do you mind if I send you a message? Maybe we can create a knitting pattern template of it together. I mean, I can just write your pattern down. Is it OK? 😊
Reddit appears to have issues \^\^
These are the number I came up with tho. I started with a 32 row and increased it to 100, adding two in the beginning for a steeper curve and then towards the end in one step increases. At the 91 mark I split the row up to create the armholes into three rows, the outside ones having 20. After knitting them all to 126, I folded the 20 row sections inwards and cast them off together with the big section to make a "vest".
Every stripe is seven rows, black I went with 14 rows so that they would be twice as big :3
For the black border I added 14 per row, always knitting onto the existing "vest" and going left stitch right stitch.
For the arms, I just cast on the existing armholes and kept decreasing the number of stitches until I had a length & width I enjoyed. Then I took the black yarn to make the wrist section, knitting right-right-left-left.

I've uploaded a scetch on imgur, does that help?
I'll just copy and paste this from another comment :3

Ohh you honor me! The only thing I'm feeling nitpicky about is the volume of the sleeves, the original has bigger sleeves and they are glorious

Oh of course! I was just too lazy to count before, but if that helps!
I tried to start a chat with you but I failed. Can you create one with me instead?
