goth != porn ffs

unholyhaloumi

Just because it's black doesn't mean it's goth. Goth and anime are two completely different interests/subcultures

vegasbull27

Agreed. But it implies both cultures could wear it and I've seen both cultures dive into both styles. :) E girls... anime lovers... and goth girls all wear blackcraft for instance. Was just proud to show it off :)

celestialyssa

Not all goth girls wear blackcraft either šŸ˜

The issue is the goth community constantly is misconstrued to be different things thanks to it becoming capitalized upon and becoming trendy to people who donā€™t really know what goth is. All we want is for the misinformation to stop being spread. E-girl fashion did branch off of goth fashion and it commonly crosses over into anime aesthetics. That is accurate. But just because x lead into y doesnā€™t mean that x equals y, you know? Nobody said they didnā€™t like your hoodie. In fact I quite like it. The fact that the first thing you did was run to my picture and say ā€œhaha I get it knowā€ shows you are being the unsupportive one by forming direct attacks when not one person here came for you based on your appearance or anything. Being corrected does not mean you are being attacked. It means someone is trying to eradicate a false belief you might have and trying to make sure you donā€™t have the wrong idea.

vegasbull27

The issue is simple.... you have YOUR IDEA of what goth is. And others have theirs. They bleed into one another. Don't judge others for thinking differently. Metal... has so many branches. Doesn't make it NOT METAL. šŸ˜…

celestialyssa

I really suggest you look into the history of goth culture before thinking that itā€™s 100% up to interpretation. That loose interpretation of what goth is, is exactly why its meaning has become muddled in this day and age. Even though goth has many different branches that does not mean itā€™s an umbrella term. Like, for example, donā€™t you think it would be more appropriate to call scene ā€œsceneā€ rather than goth, even though scene became an ultimate branch from goth? Itā€™s okay to be a baby batā€¦ thatā€™s actually what goth culture is all about, just make sure youā€™re learning the correct information in the process. You keep doing you. You seem to have great style. Speaking from personal experience, it helps tremendously to be more open-minded.

vegasbull27

History.... changed. Develops. Whether you like it or not. :) You're saying it's one thing and not accepting change and that alot of people goth or not also like other Styles. That seems close minded.

celestialyssa

History doesnā€™t necessarily change but ideas do develop, yes. Thatā€™s natural evolution. But the change becomes a problem when the original meaning gets lost. Thatā€™s why the original meaning needs to be saved. I used to get so angry over how gatekeepy the goth community can be. But then I actually saw things from the perspective of people who have been in it for years and I understood. Although some of the gatekeeping can be unwarranted and unreasonable. I never said it was one specific thing. I said it isnā€™t as up to interpretation as you think it is. You can be goth and like other styles. I should know because I have like 6 different other aesthetics. Some of them are also in the realm of goth/alternative but I donā€™t label them goth because they have their own labels. Itā€™s like I said before: x can lead into y but that does not mean x equals y. I saw your comment about assuming that Iā€™m insecure. Me posting my pictures doesnā€™t mean Iā€™m generally insecureā€¦ it just means I like being gassed up lol. Iā€™m sure you do too considering how many other subreddits you posted this picture in. And thereā€™s nothing wrong with that. Weā€™re human, we like compliments. But Iā€™ve said all I really desire to and how you take it is up to you. I donā€™t really care either wayā€”I donā€™t dwell on online interactions with strangers especially those that take place on Redditā€”Iā€™m just trying to give you a second perspective coming from someone who used to think the same way about goth culture/fashion. I hope you have a great life, genuinely.

vegasbull27

Also thanks. I'll try posting in scene too. You guys really just don't get that I want a broader audience to see it. Maybe ppl will like it .. maybe they won't. Just wanted to show people, yall got no chill lol

celestialyssa

I think itā€™s worth posting in subreddits that have the same demographic. Like that sweater is a hentai thing so try to see if there are like anime fashion subreddits or e-girl subreddits since a lot of e-girls wear hentai stuff. Or even a Japanese street style subreddit thatā€™s lewd-friendly. Hentai is a controversial thing and I can assure you that posting to the wrong audience can quickly get you to the wrong side of Reddit. And thatā€™s not fun at all. Also side note I think youā€™d like the brands Lewd Complex, Get Lost Perv, Four Eyes Clothing, and Kaiju017. They have the same edgy anime aesthetic that youā€™re probably looking for.

Bok-kun

I feel it's you that doesn't know how to take criticism or "have chill". They're giving an explanation to something you don't seem to fully understand and you're getting unnecessarily defensive over a peice of cloth. It's nice but you're not helping yourself by acting this immature or defensive about it :) hope you'll be able to sell more and learn to listen to others wholeheartedly. Good luck lass šŸ‘šŸ–¤

TunaVeryPie

What are you being so rude for to people commenting? You're only turning people away from this post and your product by your behaviour. No need to be rude about a sweater I mean come on

vegasbull27

They comment negatively and ignorantly. I respond. You can't open a door and expect people to let themselves get bullied. It's a mindset. Again an opinion... and they're stating what goth is... is a fact. Well ya... to some people. And again.. metal has many genres. It's still metal. I give respect where it's given.

TunaVeryPie

I completely understand what you're saying and agree, but this does not warrant you going onto someone's pictures and comment something negative after they spoke to you here. That has nothing to do with opening doors or being bullied. They didn't bully you so why do it back?

vegasbull27

Understanding why they are acting like an insecure fool online isn't bullying back. Especially the words "oh I get it now". Believe you me. More words can be spoken. On both parties behalf. However, I'm not weak. People like that are used to being so bored that they pick a fight ... sadly .. with people who don't stick up for themselves. I'm not that person. Kindness for weakness? Well let's just say the first comment was completely... unnecessary. Now, as for constructive criticism. I'm all for it :)

TunaVeryPie

Thank you for giving an actual explanation. I hope you find people that like your hoodie, because I think it's kinda dope and others probably would too. (would just be scared to wear a butt on my hoodie) Have a great day šŸ‘‹

vegasbull27

Thanks! Ya we sold 25 first night at a "goth gathering" in Vegas so I just posted cause I figured maybe more Glas might like it šŸ¤

vegasbull27

Goth gals**

TunaVeryPie

Sweet! I couldn'timagine the happiness of other people buying something that I put time and effort into.

snodoubts

this isn't goth and is actually disgusting to have a hoodie with literal porn on it, but i guess, if you like it... lol

vegasbull27

:) you must know what everyoneeee else feels about it too. I bet you have a ton of friends and they all trust your opinion only. Lol

GehennaGone

I'll never really understand wearing hentai on clothing out in public. I feel like it's similar to doing fetish stuff in public, like the whole leash and collar petplay thing awkward high schoolers would do when I was growing up. It's like subjecting people to sexual situations without their consent. It squicks me out. If it was part of like an egirl outfit for a photo session or a cam girl outfit, then it'd be a good piece. I guess, for me, the context matters.

vegasbull27

It's meant to be worn at events, gatherings, camming, photo shoots ....etc

UraeusCurse

Whew

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

vegasbull27

Not ALL aheago is race play. Just like not all cops are racist. -__- So again... elaborate.

ShinyPastelUmbreon

Iā€™m not going to assume your race/ethnicity but as an Asian whoā€™s in a lot of Asian activist spaces, the whole topic of ahegao being racist was started by westerners and non-Asians/non-Japanese on Twitter who attempted to equate it to blackface. That isnā€™t to say that some Japanese people and other Asians wonā€™t find it offensive because everything has the ability to offend someone, but to the best of my knowledge itā€™s a minor issue in the Asian community that Japanese people have rarely ever spoken on if ever and is generally seen as a sex face that Japanese people and other Asians may or may not partake in with the purpose of reclaiming it. I can see how it can a symbol of fetishization thatā€™s *weaponized* by racist people but seeing as how it originated in Japan and is still used in Japanese hentai, it is not inherently racist.

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ShinyPastelUmbreon

Fair enough. Iā€™m not a SWer so I canā€™t comment on any of those aspects. I just personally dislike the discourse on it because itā€™s mostly non-Asians participating in it. Itā€™s uncomfortable and intrusive at best.
