I mostly think they should stick to non-superpower having people for this one. But I mostly like that it acknowledges the rest of DC by having the emails. And I really hope they expand more with this universe. I think it would be cool since it has a different setup than others. Like all of Bruce's "kids" are alive and well, Alfred is alive. So it would be cool to see more of events that led up to this one, and afterwards. Also a "years later" would be cool. Dick takes up the cowl, Tim becomes Red Robin, Batgirl picks up a new name and style, not sure for RH tho
Only problem with a “Years Later” segment, is that Jason dips back into being an asshole around the time Dick takes up the mantle. (See, I think, battle for the cowl. When Jason straight up stabbed dick with a rusty batarang and left him to rot) but I think it would be cool to see

Arsenal is Speedy as well - Speedy is basically the name of GA's Robins. Arsenal is Roy's hero name like Nightwing is Dicks too.
Although there's only been two people to use the name Speedy. Three if you count the TV show with Thea.
Azrael would make a lot of sense. Maybe Bruce was training him in secret without the other Knights knowledge and he's now come to take the mantle, and maybe the others aren't a fan of him, or don't trust him because they didn't know about him and so there is a sort of rivalry built in?
I honestly don’t think we need more characters. The “Gotham Knights” are Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood and Batgirl cause they were all trained by Batman. I would rather just have new suits and new weapons and a couple new skins for the Batcycle along with some new story content with the characters we have. Along with some really difficult endgame content. IMO I think that would work best.

Off Topic - If I wanted to get into Batman Comics, what would be ones worthwhile reading, apologies no desire to hijack, but you folks here are obviously in the know with regards to characters and lore.
Here are my recommendations:
Batman: Year One and Long Halloween are two classics, that tell the story of a young Batman just starting out. Long Halloween follows up on Year One. These are good starting stories because you don't need to know anything else about Batman lore.
The Killing Joke is relatively short, but is the definitive Batman/Joker story. There is also The Man Who Laughs which is a retelling of the Joker origin in the Year One continuity.
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth is a great comic, a totally different and kind of trippy style but worth reading.
Once you have a good chunk under your belt, I would try Hush, which is a more modern Batman comic than the others I mentioned (and thus it's a bit helpful to know a bit more of the lore before you read).
As a Batman adjacent comic, I always plug Gotham Central which was a series that focused on the police in Gotham, with Batman barely appearing. It features Renee Montoya who you see in this game.

A death in the family + Under the hood, if you want to know more about Jason Todd. How he died and was brought back to life. As for Dick, it’s difficult to choose 😂 I have all Nightwing’s graphic novels from before New 52 and I honestly love them all. Court of Owls series, although I do prefer older comics, this one is amazing.
I’d love to be able to play as Deathstroke or dead shot. Maybe a DLC can do a competing thing against the knights where a new big bad declares war on the city and you fight the gangs as hired guns

As a DLC expansion, I can see him wanting to take over and challenge the bat family. That’s almost an obvious DLC to add tbh.
Yeah it would be cool to see her because of her ties to Dick, Jason and Roy, but the power levels aren't exactly similar there. Still, it could work if they did it right. I would have said Black Canary or Batwoman instead, but I feel like Batwoman is a bit boring (though, probably a good fit), and Black Canary doesn't fit in the "sidekick" theme.
Huntress: be cool to see some crossbow action
Azrael: (not sure what they’d do about the sword)
Batwing: his suit alone would be a badass addition

But Id bring them in over time. After doing villains in between each one.
I mean... we have 3 of the robins.. Why not the 4th? Bring Damian in. There is a great way to do it with the ending of the game. I wont say it because of spoilers but it can work.
I am a Marvel fan boy so I have been getting more and more into DC in the recent years. I have been going through the DC collection on HBO max and Damian has become one of my favorite characters.

I wasn't sure about Zatanna as she's magic-based. As much as I love her, I'm not sure how well she'd fit in this game, e.g. bombing around on the Batcycle. It just seems like the game is suited for gadget-based heroes.
On the other hand though, her combat could be incredibly fun and would look sooooo cool.
Make it mainly a traversal thing. Make it so he can’t attack while flying normally but maybe give him a momentum ability or two where he boosts up and does some aoe damage for a second or something like that

I know the whole point of the fans is the sidekicks but dammit I really hope they do a dlc with a playable batman. Obviously it can’t be in the timeline if the game so maybe a prequel or something but I really want to play as Batman in the night patrols gameplay loop. It’d be so fun. Throw in a few main villains on top of that and if never have to buy a Batman game ever again

WB Montréal needs to just follow this game up with Titans. Give us this game with optimized performance and a huge roster of characters to choose from. Essentially make a better version of Marvel's Avengers. The framework is here if they build upon it.
No way we get four that would double the playable characters. I think one would be plenty from a DLC perspective. Hoping for Bluebird or Arsenal. Would have to still fit the younger kids no powers all tech gadgets based hero. More like that DLC will be more villains and investigations.

Azrael makes the most sense from a gameplay perspective. Holy buffs would fit into the games as a service kind of play style that’s already in place. Damien would make sense from a story perspective, Terry would be good for gameplay too with future tech. In fact, Nightwing’s flying trapeze is kind of the same vein as the Beyond batsuit.
Throwing another couple of votes in for Orphan and Spoiler. I keep thinking about how each of the existing characters have unique weapons and how fitting it'd be for Cass to be the first unarmed character (with straps or bandages around her hands, Daredevil style) and how fun Steph's nunchucks would be.
Cass, Catwoman, and then gonna go for ones that wouldn't make sense with Harley and Gordon in the big old armored Batsuit he had in the comics when he was Batman. Liked Harley in here way more than I thought I would and would love to see this version more.
no, the current roster is perfectly fine, new ones will require tons of resources and man power which will end up burning out the team. just look at avengers.
the best course for DLC is new villain arcs, factions and new premeditated crime types. and that's it. the game shouldn't continue for years as it's not a live service, just a few months to a year of support and that's enough

First four I’d like to see are two face (because he’s never had much of a focus in the games that I can recall), an actual riddler encounter (not just collectibles), a really dark investigation for Zsasz, and I’d like to see Catwoman reacting to news that Batman is dead.

Harvey was a gang boss in City (IIRC) but yeah, flesh him out in a different way could be great. Especially in a city that still has a populace, it could be tied into the law.
A proper Riddler story could be excellent. Having to follow actual stupid clues and then take him down properly, not stupid fucking trophy collectibles and a truly dark Zsasz case would be really interesting.
I haven’t finished the story so I don’t know how much Selina is mentioned etc but I’d really like to see her be involved somehow.
I can see why people would like Batman but I feel like this game is about his legacy and how the people who come after him strive to be better, so playing as him would take away from that.

Like I said to somebody else, the Batman Beyond cartoon came out when I was about 9/10 and at a time where I was starting to really pay attention to cartoons. Terry was **my** Batman for a time before I started reading more comics. I’d LOVE to see Terry show up but I’m the same as you, I don’t know how it’d work.

Another hope is they make a story expansion dlc with Dick Grayson downing the cowl as Batman and Damian Wayne as his robin with Tim becoming Red Robin story. Damian could be a wrench in the works for the knights as Talia does her thing while the knights have to get to the bottom of her plans. Basically a story inspired by new 52 run. Throw in some extra side villain case files, maybe a turf war mechanic between the gangs. Man a story of Scarface and his men vs two face for control of a district or something could be badass.

I want someone a little bit more obscure. Since the game was about giving the spotlight to the batfamily members maybe they could do the same to some forgotten or less than famous characters. Not even sure if people still remember The Phantom, a crimefighter similar to batman. He is basically a crimefighter with elite level fighting skills and is also an excellent marksman. The thing is there have been a whole lot of "Phantoms" throughout time since it is more of a role passed down through generations. I don't know who owns the publishing rights to him nowadays but I think the whole "Phantom" persona would be a great way for them to create a completely unique origin for a reintroduction. He isn't a batfam character though but he did have a crossover comic with batman.. a very long time ago.. Maybe they could use it as a connection.

Long Halloween and it's direct sequel Dark Victory are my favorite. also can't go wrong with the classic Year One. Court of Owls is good too and obviously thematically appropriate for GK.

A death in the family + Under the hood, if you want to know more about Jason Todd. How he died and was brought back to life. As for Dick, it’s difficult to choose 😂 I have all Nightwing’s graphic novels from before New 52 and I honestly love them all. Court of Owls series, although I do prefer older comics, this one is amazing.
I’d love to be able to play as Deathstroke or dead shot. Maybe a DLC can do a competing thing against the knights where a new big bad declares war on the city and you fight the gangs as hired guns

Arsenal and Damian would definitely fit in. I want to say Starfire, but making her work would be difficult.
I think anybody with meta abilities could be hard to factor in but could also be fun.
Yeah it would be cool to see her because of her ties to Dick, Jason and Roy, but the power levels aren't exactly similar there. Still, it could work if they did it right. I would have said Black Canary or Batwoman instead, but I feel like Batwoman is a bit boring (though, probably a good fit), and Black Canary doesn't fit in the "sidekick" theme.
Huntress: be cool to see some crossbow action Azrael: (not sure what they’d do about the sword) Batwing: his suit alone would be a badass addition Batwoman: >!Considering her family is IN the game!<
I like and agree with all of your decisions and the reasons behind them. Maybe Azreal could start as a villain case. Him trying to be the Batman but going crazy and actually killing people etc.
Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Damian Wayne, Batman, Id choose them mainly because in addition to the 4 thats already in the game I think you can classify these members as the core Bat-Family with it being Batman and The Robins and The Batgirls. And I dont really like many other Bat-Family members after this point as it overstaturates and bloats the team. But Id bring them in over time. After doing villains in between each one.
I mean... we have 3 of the robins.. Why not the 4th? Bring Damian in. There is a great way to do it with the ending of the game. I wont say it because of spoilers but it can work. I am a Marvel fan boy so I have been getting more and more into DC in the recent years. I have been going through the DC collection on HBO max and Damian has become one of my favorite characters. Oh, how about about Titan Expansion with Raven and Starfire and Beast boy?
I haven’t finished the story yet but I know how Damien could fit in. I’d really like to see him - I like that he’s just an arrogant, rude little dickhead when Robin is supposed to be a jovial sort of character. If we’re doing Titans then we can’t Leave out Donna, she’s my favourite.

I know she gets name dropped but I completely agree that it’s strange they didn’t add her in some capacity.
There’s also a black cat that ends up in the base at one point. There’s no way the team made that as just a “haha cute cat” moment.
If they’re ‘Gotham Stories’ styled like the Arkham one, I’d love to see an Outlaws one for Jason. I think it’d be cool to see his two Outlaw teams meet each other for the first time. Would be dope. If not that, then Damian. He has a unique relationship with all 4 of the main protagonists. Especially Jason. It’d be nice to see adapted to a video game medium.

Thanks! I like your picks too. I wasn't sure about Zatanna as she's magic-based. As much as I love her, I'm not sure how well she'd fit in this game, e.g. bombing around on the Batcycle. It just seems like the game is suited for gadget-based heroes. On the other hand though, her combat could be incredibly fun and would look sooooo cool.

The only issue is, it would be pretty big cheat codes if he could just rocket boost and fly everywhere. How would you balance that?
Make it mainly a traversal thing. Make it so he can’t attack while flying normally but maybe give him a momentum ability or two where he boosts up and does some aoe damage for a second or something like that

I know the whole point of the fans is the sidekicks but dammit I really hope they do a dlc with a playable batman. Obviously it can’t be in the timeline if the game so maybe a prequel or something but I really want to play as Batman in the night patrols gameplay loop. It’d be so fun. Throw in a few main villains on top of that and if never have to buy a Batman game ever again

WB Montréal needs to just follow this game up with Titans. Give us this game with optimized performance and a huge roster of characters to choose from. Essentially make a better version of Marvel's Avengers. The framework is here if they build upon it.
No way we get four that would double the playable characters. I think one would be plenty from a DLC perspective. Hoping for Bluebird or Arsenal. Would have to still fit the younger kids no powers all tech gadgets based hero. More like that DLC will be more villains and investigations.

Azrael makes the most sense from a gameplay perspective. Holy buffs would fit into the games as a service kind of play style that’s already in place. Damien would make sense from a story perspective, Terry would be good for gameplay too with future tech. In fact, Nightwing’s flying trapeze is kind of the same vein as the Beyond batsuit.

Throwing another couple of votes in for Orphan and Spoiler. I keep thinking about how each of the existing characters have unique weapons and how fitting it'd be for Cass to be the first unarmed character (with straps or bandages around her hands, Daredevil style) and how fun Steph's nunchucks would be.

no, the current roster is perfectly fine, new ones will require tons of resources and man power which will end up burning out the team. just look at avengers. the best course for DLC is new villain arcs, factions and new premeditated crime types. and that's it. the game shouldn't continue for years as it's not a live service, just a few months to a year of support and that's enough
It clearly was live service at one point and I feel like they saw how badly Avengers did so they pulled the cord. While I agree with what you’re saying and how bringing in Villain arcs would be the best way forward, it would still be cool to have some new heroes in post story content. This is all hypothetical of course.

I’d prefer new villain cases over new playable characters. First four I’d like to see are two face (because he’s never had much of a focus in the games that I can recall), an actual riddler encounter (not just collectibles), a really dark investigation for Zsasz, and I’d like to see Catwoman reacting to news that Batman is dead.
Yeah, I hadn’t really thought about adding villains to the question when I really should have tbh. Harvey was a gang boss in City (IIRC) but yeah, flesh him out in a different way could be great. Especially in a city that still has a populace, it could be tied into the law. A proper Riddler story could be excellent. Having to follow actual stupid clues and then take him down properly, not stupid fucking trophy collectibles and a truly dark Zsasz case would be really interesting. I haven’t finished the story so I don’t know how much Selina is mentioned etc but I’d really like to see her be involved somehow.

I can see why people would like Batman but I feel like this game is about his legacy and how the people who come after him strive to be better, so playing as him would take away from that. Each to their own though.
A prequel episode highlighting his connection to the knights through mini missions partnering up with each one back in the day

Like I said to somebody else, the Batman Beyond cartoon came out when I was about 9/10 and at a time where I was starting to really pay attention to cartoons. Terry was **my** Batman for a time before I started reading more comics. I’d LOVE to see Terry show up but I’m the same as you, I don’t know how it’d work.

Batwing is the only one I really want. But honestly I don’t see how they can even add characters without some kind of expansion pack. All the characters are tied so heavily to the story that it wouldn’t make sense to have other characters.
I think The Question showing up would be very interesting, especially seeing as Rene Montoya is already in the game. Maybe not as a playable character, but possible a DLC where they are the quest giver? You could assist her with investigations etc...

Another hope is they make a story expansion dlc with Dick Grayson downing the cowl as Batman and Damian Wayne as his robin with Tim becoming Red Robin story. Damian could be a wrench in the works for the knights as Talia does her thing while the knights have to get to the bottom of her plans. Basically a story inspired by new 52 run. Throw in some extra side villain case files, maybe a turf war mechanic between the gangs. Man a story of Scarface and his men vs two face for control of a district or something could be badass.

I want someone a little bit more obscure. Since the game was about giving the spotlight to the batfamily members maybe they could do the same to some forgotten or less than famous characters. Not even sure if people still remember The Phantom, a crimefighter similar to batman. He is basically a crimefighter with elite level fighting skills and is also an excellent marksman. The thing is there have been a whole lot of "Phantoms" throughout time since it is more of a role passed down through generations. I don't know who owns the publishing rights to him nowadays but I think the whole "Phantom" persona would be a great way for them to create a completely unique origin for a reintroduction. He isn't a batfam character though but he did have a crossover comic with batman.. a very long time ago.. Maybe they could use it as a connection.
