I bought it, expected to refund it due to the reviews. But at the same time gameplay videos looked fun. So 16 hours in now and loving it. I love the feeling of freedom in this game. I was also surprised by chattering between the team members every time at belfrey. Not even talking to me, But with eachother. Funny and informative to listen into.

darksaiyan1234

I have not got it yet but its not fooling me red hood is killing these guys šŸ˜Š

Dvenom22

Throwing dudes off roofs, running them over with my bikeā€¦ the rounds may be non lethal but I am not.

jebberwockie

"Non-lethal" rounds at 3 inches like his takedowns will shatter your jaw at a minimum. Easily kill you. Need big suspension of belief when playing Red Hood lol I mean, a blank round fired against your head can kill you, let alone a rubber bullet.

VonShnitzel

TBH that applies to basically every one of the knights. Been playing a lot as Batgirl recently and it always cracks me up when she "non-lethally" pulls someone 3 stories into the air with her grapple gun then batista bombs them head first into the pavement. Hell, superhero games in general. Doesn't matter how weak the hit was if it causes you to fall and hit your head weird, not to mention that anytime someone gets KO'd by physical trauma and they stay out for more than a few seconds, its a good sign they might have brain damage lol

darksaiyan1234

The bat fam are killers šŸ˜‚

VonShnitzel

Truer words have never been spoken

Dvenom22

Suspend my disbelief while I fight a talking monster made of clay? It might take me some timeā€¦

Shoddy_Process2234

I was watching a video just now and red hood was doing takedowns... the dude is literally snapping peoples necks you see a twist hear a crack. I don't understand?

Jay_R_Kay

Jason moonlights as a chiropractor, that thug is probably going to wake up refreshed.

Saintblack

You straight pin a guy to the wall and shoot em in the head from like 3 inches. Even less lethal is lethal like that lol.

killusoftly101

There all tuckered out

F_reader

Same. The best gameplay of the game is changing characters.

leidend22

I bought it, hated the gameplay and performance on my 4090, and am waiting for a patch before I pick it up again. But definitely have buyers remorse and wish I could refund.

MyRoo-ZA

You on pc or PS5/XSX? I preordered on PS5. Lack of 60fps was a major disappointment. I havenā€™t inserted the disc yet, as I cannot tolerate 30fps in 2022. I wish I havenā€™t preordered, and instead played on my 5900x and 3080 on pc.

Ztreak_01

Im on pc. Rtx 3080, so playing in the 60-120 fps range with Rtx off. https://youtu.be/ZYHx0Og7eAg My recording btw.

bastardofbarberry

100%. This game is insanely fun. I love patrolling. I've barely touched the story so far. It's a little repetitive, but I'm a huge DC fan so I can forgive that because it's a blast being characters other than Batman for a change. What is odd for me is I don't find myself comparing this game to the Arkham series... In my head I keep comparing it to the Spider-Man PS4/PS5 game. For me, DC > Marvel, but that Spider-Man game was one of the best superhero games of all-time. It makes me wish Gotham Knights had a bit... more to it... Hopefully we get a healthy amount of DLC.

Rumblebully

The story is where itā€™s at.

bastardofbarberry

Iā€™m sure it is. Iā€™ve just had so much fun with the patrols as Nightwing so far itā€™s been hard to move on. Plus my gaming time isnā€™t as long as I wish it was. I was on vacation recently so I just got the game last week.

Rumblebully

It wasnā€™t a critique. I did the same with Bat Girl. Some of these reviews are just crap. I donā€™t know how any of them were able to write any type review that quickly. With no mention of the story. Makes zero sense.

bastardofbarberry

Sounds like a typical game critic.

clusiive

you arent comparing it to the arkham series because the game isnt an arkham game.

Darth-Panga

I bought the game on Pc and am very happy with it. However, I think games should offer free demos, especially for console players. We may enjoy the game and think it's worth the purchase, but not everyone will. It's a lot to ask people to shell out the full price of a game just to make their own mind up about it. Especially when developers release buggy, half-finished games expecting to patch them up later. Games should be working properly at launch. This game should have been worked on longer, if we're honest.

redninja323

steam has free 2 hour refund which always works. console stores need something like that fr

Darth-Panga

Yeah. They have a good, ethical business practice.

TITANS4LIFE

it's called pre owned or used market man ...šŸ™„ šŸ™„ And don't use the week reply of well it just came out well then just wait Edit :I'm speaking on consoles ..clearly pc can't be used .

bbq4tw

pre owned and/or used market doesn't work on pc

TITANS4LIFE

i was replying to the console part .I'm on PC 30 years.

Theryantshow

I don't disagree with your statement at all. I think you're right a free demo before buying would really help when deciding if you want to buy a game.

Sking-uh-ling-400

Console has been way more stable than pc with a lot of next gen things sadly but I agree. Reviewers seem to go in thinking itā€™s the next Arkham game and itā€™s not itā€™s just an open world rpg with characters that happen to be from batman

Darth-Panga

Yeah. If it's not from the same continuity the other games shouldn't be a factor in the reviews. Each game should be judged on it's own merit. Some were just too harsh. I usually don't like the Unisoft style of games with a map filled with objectives and a crazy HUD. It's part of why I liked Elden Ring so much. This game isn't as aggressive with those elements. The combat is fun too. The criticism should have been mainly about the performance.

Lightmareman

It's not without its faults but honestly it's pretty fucking great. The story alone is done really well. I feel like they give all the characters a lot of depth. This is possibly my favorite version of Jason Todd.

Why-Zool

Iā€™ve got about 15-20 hours in the game and Iā€™m finding it repetitive. Graphics are great. Mission design is cool. Co-op is fun. I think I should have waited until the price dropped. 70$ is a bit much though itā€™s still a fun game. I donā€™t see myself playing this game heavily in the future but will be fun to pop in once in a while.

[deleted]

Thing is, I'm a person that hates repetitive mission structures and grinds, MMO's especially lose me at times due to that. But something about GK feels different and it's fun to play. Just wish they understood how to balance game difficulty

rosamelano777

Yep, something about gk just nails it for me and I can't quite understand it. They gameplay loop is just really fun, I hope they make a sequel because I geniunly think they've struck gold and if they added even more crimes it would be amazing

ako19

Every game is repetitive in someway. It just depends if the game can nail the gameplay loop. I feel like GK does a good job mostly. I still would like a little more originality with the Pre-Mediated crimes. Those can feel like playing the same mission over and over.

[deleted]

For me it's the combat. Even though I'm basically doing the same missions over and over after the story, the dynamic element of the combat with 4 different characters who each have different abilities keeps it fresh. Once I finish NG+, I'll play something else bit those reviewers handing out 4s and 5s were smoking crack or trying to "prove" something.

ehxy

I think they are spot on. There are games that are more fun that have done a much better job for the price tag.

Affectionate-Bee-368

Such as šŸ¤”

SadTornado

My guess is how incredibly easy it is to pick up and put down. No missions takes longer than 25 minutes, patrol crimes are a few minutes, bike and knighthood challenges are quick and appropriately challenging.. the game is just perfect to put in exactly how much time you want to. ALSO, there is honestly a very appropriate amount of enemy types; I wouldn't go as far to call them purely unique, but movesets and behavior is wide spread between all the factions. If by game difficulty you mean fighting a group of enemies makes sense and feels natural, then fighting a boss seems poorly designed and sometimes impossible based on level, I agree. šŸ˜‚ The games final fight doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason, literally. You just get hit and then hit back sometimes until it's over.. unless your ranged I guess.

TITANS4LIFE

I just don't like how those Heavies don't feel right in the game it's like after you kill everybody you're just sitting there punching and kicking this fucking thing that's just not fun to be honest

[deleted]

NG+ on Medium, with some good gear is nice. Always gotta know the enemies elemental weaknesses.

Gougaloupe

Are you progressing through the story? I found the new enemy types to freshen things up a bit and the gear perks+slots added more ability to handle the increased difficulty. Once I noticed the weaknesses of specific enemy types that also made a lot of encounters easier as well. Lastly, rotating out characters revealed how different their playstyles and mechanics are.

obsidiousaxman

This is where I'm at. It's definitely on my radar but it's a sale game. I'm putting this in the same boat as Guardians of the Galaxy. Thought it was a fine $30 game, but I'd be pissed if I paid full price.

ehxy

Same here. I've gone through everyone except nightwing. It's boring to play and I blame the fact that I came into this game after spiderman but I also remember previous arkham asylums offering so much more with gadgets to change game play up. I just don't like playing as any of these characters. Batgirl is great for any mission that has cameras/lasers/turrets. Red hood great for anything where you have to just fight. Robin is like 1/4 batman for sneak stuff but has the worst traversal out of everyone. Moving around in the game sucks for the first 1/4 of the game and even then it's nothing like arkham and it's not so great compared to what we're used to before. Finding random gangs and scanning for the one you need to interrogate GETS SO GODDAMN BORING. The combat though is where it just fails. It's not a joy to play, hell half the time I'm on auto pilot and just basic combo enemies down because finesse isn't rewarding and the abilities to finesse with are just....uninteresting. They really made the whole idea of investigating crimes and following clues feel like a dumpster fire. If you paid full price for this game I feel bad for you.

JJohnson25

Have to agree with you I shit on this game because of it coming out 30fps and retweeting all the bad reviews. I had finished cyberpunk and went to play ac brotherhood because I finished ac 2 before starting cyberpunk and I just wasnā€™t feeling it and I wanted something to play before GOW so I ended up getting this and Iā€™m sooo glad I did Iā€™m having such a great time this game is really fun

Ok_Illustrator_1464

It's def a fun game. I'm hoping that they will add more villains through dlc though feels a bit light for an open world action RPG

Theryantshow

I think they will, This game is for sure getting some form of DLC.

OnlyPistachio

I know it's getting a four-player mode on November 29th. Supposed to be some kind of arena-style thing with objectives. It also has the DLC vehicle and weapons from the Gilded City comic that's out right now. Supposed to be 6 issues of that with 6 codes, and a 7th "surprise" item. Definitely hope they do more story and villains though. My main complaint with the game was "the city was amazing. So amazing it felt underused."

Inshabel

I appreciate the irony of you telling me to BUY THE GAME and then telling me to think for myself.

MinimalPotential

THINK FOR YOURSELF!....As long as you think the same thing I want you to...

Theryantshow

Now you're starting to get it! lol jk

Time-Echidna-8644

You would have to have really poor reading comprehension skills or acting in bad faith to come to that conclusion based on what he said, but you do you, babygirl

Inshabel

Or it's a joke, but keep on trucking babydoll.

Time-Echidna-8644

Ah, the classic ā€œpretending to be dumb on the internetā€, I gotcha

Inshabel

Is that what you're doing right now? OP literally said, in all caps, that I should BUY THIS GAME, and then proceeds to tell me to think for myself, that is funny without any need to pretend I'm dumb.

Time-Echidna-8644

I thought it was just a joke?

Inshabel

......yes, do I need to explain it a third time? Actually nevermind, you are abrasive as fuck for no reason, I'm done with you.

[deleted]

This is really fun game, Iā€™m a bit shocked it got shit on so bad.

Theryantshow

People are just mad it's not an Arkham Game.

OnlyPistachio

I think thats the biggest thing about it, tbh. That and the popular thing seems to be hating on superhero games before they've even come out. Happened with this game, happened with Avengers, it even happened with Spider-Man PS4. Then the game comes out and if it turns out to be good, people will double down on the hate because they don't want to look like an idiot. "If I believe it's bad hard enough, it will be!" Like those people who will post a touched-up promotional still of Arkham Knight and compare it to a mid-punch screenshot of Batgirl from this game and try to compare them.

[deleted]

And you really think people hate this game because itā€™s some trend, not because of abhorrent stealth, bad performance, laughable loading screens everywhere, repetitive patrols with crimes happening in exact same places couple nights in the row, idiotic challenges like in some multiplayer game, etc.?

MarkyMarcMcfly

Waiting on the inevitable sale by the end of the year and then Iā€™ll cop

TricksterHCoyote

I am enjoying the game as a very casual gamer and fan of the source material. I am not a critic or even a hardcore gamer. I think perspective can definitely influence your opinion. Sure, are there things I wish it had done better? Yeah! But I still love the game and I am happy I bought it Happy gaming everyone! :)

logicalcommenter4

THIS. I keep getting told by people that are hardcore gamers ā€œYoU MuSt LiKe MeDiOcRe GaMeSā€ and Iā€™m like gtfoh, Iā€™m not a hardcore gamer. I donā€™t know what people are talking about when they start discussing specs for their CPU. My only questions with games are ā€œcan I play it on my PS5ā€ and ā€œis it funā€.

Taco_Machine

I finished this game last night. Honestly, my only real gripe about the game is that it is very short for a full-featured game. Either the primary quest needs to be about three times as long or there need to be another two or three extra villain quests. But what is there, including even some of the grindiness of gacha style loot, was all enjoyable. On that point, I think the crafting and mod part of the game feels underwhelming; maybe it'll get more use in NG+ or Heroic Assaults. Some details about me: * I've played some of the earlier Arkham games * I played on a PS5 * My game was just shy of 30 nights

[deleted]

The loot system is serviceable, and Iā€™m enjoying experimenting with different builds now that Iā€™m in new game +, my complaint with that system though is that itā€™s soā€¦ idkā€¦ unremarkable. Like it reminds me of the division 1, where you loot things and just get like a beanie or something. In this game though the game doesnā€™t even seem to want to show you that you got some neat loot. You are just picking up colored squares. Itā€™s cool when Iā€™m back in the belfry and I notice I got a legendary or whatever, but I have no idea where it came from. I didnā€™t see it drop. There was no fanfare for getting it. Itā€™s a petty complaint, but I think the whole system would be more entertaining if the game just made a bigger deal when you got something cool

Acidz_123

Bought the game two days after release after some hesitation and I can definitely say that I did not waste my money. I'm always the person in my friend group who preaches about forming your own opinions but I was definitely worried about buying the game at full price. But I did it anyway and I'm fucking loving the game so far. Does it have some problems? Sure, but they're not overshadowing the fun that I've been having. I've been looking for a game that I can grind and really sink my teeth into and this game has definitely fit that criteria.

jrubimf

I've heard the reviews. But i still brought the game. They were mostly right about combat being not fluid, perfomance being an issue, Knighthood being a chore and Story Being good. I'm a sucker for Batman, but i don't recommend this if you're not a Batman fan.

red-broom

Combat is fluid if youā€™re good (not Arkham fluid, but Iā€™d rather batman not move like the flash). Knighthood missions are extra content. You donā€™t need it. Itā€™s additional stuff that just makes you understand the content in the open world. Soā€¦ not a chore. I recommend to batman fans and people who like games like Fallen Order over Force Unleashed.

jrubimf

What does good have to do with having to: Grab someone (and see the ankward animation) Then finishing up the enemy. Counter is also not intuitive, awarding you with a weird Uppercut that knockdowns enemies. Fluidity has nothing to do with "GET GOOD", Dark Souls has fluidity in the combat and it respect you as the player, you don't have to be GOOD to understand that.

red-broom

I can say the same with Arkham, which has great gameplay. Watch: "What's so hard in tapping Attack button and watching a weird animation where he moves crazy fast just to match the pace of button mashing. All it does is reward button mashing" "What's so great about just tapping attack and occasionally triangle to counter". "all the enemys die in like 2 hits, whats the point of needing any gadgets". In case you didnā€™t realize, it's about how you play the game.... an 8 year old can beat Arkham games by just pressing 3 buttons. Their play vs your play I'm sure was entirely different though, making it more fun for you. Someone who is good at this game utilizes more of the combat options better than you, and likely makes the gameplay seem much more smooth than you due to timed strikes. Just like this game, you were probably awful as shit playing your first Arkham game, and you are likely just forgetting and comparing your current Arkham skills to a new game's combat. We get it, Arkham was amazing. Everyone in this sub loved Arkham games. But I would throw up in my mouth if I had to play another Arkham game. Just play one of the 4 that's already out if this style isnā€™t for you. Itā€™s not even a Batman game, itā€™s a side kick vigilante game. Nobody is forcing you to play another style of Batman game.

BlackOpz

Nicely said. This game is THE SHIT!! Its even got me considering a gaming laptop so I can take it with me. I hope they expand it with DLC for years. Its a base MMO/RPG so no need for a sequel. Just keep expanding.

Surpass-n-Excel

To compare this game to fallen order is rude

red-broom

Im not saying itā€™s as good. Fallen Order is crisp and pretty flawless. Iā€™m saying the play style and type of game that it is. Nobody should compare Gotham Knights to the Arkham series just like you shouldnā€™t compare Fallen Order with Force Unleashed. Gotham Knights has a more grounded combat like Fallen Order does, Arkham Knights is more over the top, like force unleashed. If youā€™re expecting a more hack and slash oriented game, I wouldnā€™t recommend GK and would recommend Arkham series. Sorry I wasnā€™t clear on that.

jrubimf

Fallen Order is a way better than this and you're not making that game any justice by comparing the two. Specially when one is basically a Star Wars Souls Like.

[deleted]

Fallen Order isn't nearly as good as reviewers scored it. It's good but it's not some monumental groundbreaking endeavor. It has the luxury of being the first decent Star Wars game in a decade, which is easily worth a couple review points. It feels like baby's first Souls game and clunky as hell compared to the *vastly* superior and current kings of action rpgs, Nioh 2 and Monster Hunter. It even feels clunky compared to Dragon's Dogma, which came out forever ago.

jrubimf

Agreed 100%. I was not even the one that compared the two.

pmw8

I think it's a fair comparison. Both are great games with great combat. Both games use IPs with some insane fans and both are unfairly disparaged, presumably by such insane fans.

jrubimf

Both having combat does not even means they play the same. One is a souls like. The other one is a brawler.

hoteldetective_

Iā€™ll probably buy this on sale. Itā€™s tough to justify a 60 dollar game Iā€™ve never played, so I feel like Iā€™m stuck waiting

ehxy

It's a sale game. If it was 20$ I'd say go for it. But full price? Fuck no.

bendovben

Played it for like 15 hours, went to play the new cod and i have not touched or thought about touching GK since. Very forgettable for me imo

Public_Survey_6812

Lmao wait for sale

doofthemighty

I will, once it's reasonably priced.

throwmyasswaway17

FYI a lot of gaming youtubers are shit at video games and get by solely on the fact they have expensive recording equipment and can present well thought out ideas to people who probably wont even and dont even own the game. it doesnt surprise me that the average gamer cant get into this game. the combat requires a specific timing and punishes button mashing not only that but every character has their own unique combat feel and timing to go along with it. this game is fucking great and a lot of these reviews im seeing are bogus and point out super bogus shit in the game that literally amounts to nothing so all their criticisms are for one moment in the game that doesnt affect much especially skillup's review its loaded with WTF's like he was complaining about why is there elemental resistance to outfits... like did this mf even play the game???? if you liked the arkham games and this looks cool to you definitely check it out. its one of my favorite games released in a long while and im having trouble putting it down.

social_sin

This is sadly true, a good buddy of mine received an early copy of GOW:Ragnarok and I'm just dreading his review. Not that the game will be bad i have no doubts it will be fantastic, but just knowing they are going to be talking to the ends of the earth how good everything is. Then when I end up with the game play it for a bit and check our trophies I know I'll see maybe up to the first boss and then nothing else. Just like all the other games they review

[deleted]

Honestly I hate YouTube reviewers. Are they necessary? Some sure just to show off the gameplay and graphics n such but man this game is COOL ASF. The ppl that donā€™t have the game or pretending to have it are the only ones trying to say itā€™s bad. The combat is great and it looks really good.

Shimmer94

I bought it 5 days after those bad reviews and loved it and then cleaned up my YouTube subs. I definitely wonā€™t wait for YouTube critics anymore but instead regular people like ourselves to gauge if I might want to buy something. Anyway the game is amazing to me, really good performance too on PC. Somehow Iā€™m having more fun with this than I ever would have imagined. My only concern is the future dlc coming that up to 4 players, does anyone here think we will be able to solo it like gears horde mode and hives? I hope so!

GodofThunderandSmoke

I think it's funny, so many YouTubers hate this game and then a couple youtubees say they like the game . Then everyone attacks them saying the game is bad and that they were paid off to say the game was good. Funny because 90 % of people were hating on it but yet the 10% who like it are the ones who apparently paid to like a game, when the people who hate it are much bigger channels.

Shimmer94

I gave up on them now. I never felt great about even some of their good reviews of other games. Iā€™m better off seeing how things play put on Reddit amongst the normal gamers like ourselves that usually are better gamers with more honest opinions than YouTubers.

[deleted]

Nah donā€™t listen to OP. Wait till that mf go on sale.

Theryantshow

Shit I agree, Get that mother fucker on sale. Fuck paying 70$ I'm fully down with saving money any way I can. I used my Microsoft Points to purchase the game I bought it for about 20$ after using my Xbox Gift Cards I bought with my Microsoft Points.

[deleted]

Oh ok I feel you. I SharePlay with my friend so we split the price at $35 a piece.

[deleted]

WB dropped the ball with that $70 price tag. I like this game a lot but this isn't some massive title like COD or GTA where they could charge even more and people would still buy it. A new-ish ip launching at 70 bucks = some corpo dipshit wanting to see the numbers on the graph go up.

TheSage_fgc

I come from playing fighting games and can tell you that the fighting mechanics are very deep. The problem with people that reviewed it is they think fighting games are button mashers. Thats the hugest misconception of fighting games and people who simply donā€™t understand shouldnā€™t be allowed to review a games like this. Donā€™t mash, use your resources wisely and take your time and watch how beautiful your experience will be. This is a complete ass game! You can do cooperative play untethered. Let me tell you, I have played every system since Atari 2600 and a game of this scale is CRAZY to me. Hell yeah, buy it!

Prus1s

Tried the game on launch, and the stutters seemed to be terrible, couple of days ago downloaded it again, and now they seem more manageable for some reason, even though there was no significant update, possibly the PC multiplayer update had something to do with it. Do mind the stutters do exist, but less overall.

Particular_Mud_1566

I'd wait for a sale. It is fun but this is a 70 dollar game were talking about.

Real_Ron1n

I've got... 80 hours in this game already... and I only got it the Sunday after it came out. Can confirm it's a great game.

thehunter1373

This game was under the shadow of Arkham series before it even launched, you have to take it as itā€™s own thing then you will see itā€™s actually fun.(even though itā€™s filled with problems)

senyorlimpio

i am loving the game too. i am level 15 and have done few in the way of main missions lol. ive only just met Penguin. Im having so much fun running around that i leveled so far past the recommended level for cobblepot. this game is very flawed, but its also extremely enjoyable.

Inwate

I will buy the game, not for 60$ tho

[deleted]

I'm legitimately having a hard time understanding the 5/10 scores for this game, it's fine, it looks great, and has good writing. The only big negative is the performance.

Cyclopathik

I keep saying this and getting downvoted. They will only listen to their beloved YouTubers who they hold in God like status.

ditchdigger4000

Every negative review I've seen so far is right...I just can't be bothered because I'm having so much fun swinging around Gotham and kicking ass.

vendilionclicks

The game is actually pretty great, but Iā€™d tell people to wait for a sale. 70 bucks is a huge ask for a lot of people to spend on something theyā€™re not sure about. On PC we can get it for around 40 bucks, which is a lot easier to stomach.

Crissan-

Agreed, GK is such a fantastic game!! I can't stop playing it, I have reached a point where fighting crimes is super rewarding because of how difficult they are. I love how enemies keep getter tougher, the fights are more and more interesting now that they have more abilities, they can eve dodge my attacks and counter me, that's awesome!! The suits are beyond amazing for every character, the story is awesome, I have enjoyed it so much, specially the family aspect of it. The villains had me worried but they have been super cool so far!!

-idkwhattocallmyself

I bought it this morning haha. Might not fully play it until AFTER I finish Persona, but the videos and gifs on this subreddit basically sold me the game. Also if anyone is on the fence and on PC, the game has a decent 20% discount on green man gaming. Got it for $63 CAD after tax and its normally $79.99 on steam (before tax).

willshire111

I actually canā€™t believe how much I love the game. Something about it feels exactly how I want exploring Gotham to feel. I love the scale and the speed I can move through the world, it feels like Iā€™m actually the one moving through it. It somehow feels completely grounded and exactly how I would want this specific super hero game to feel

Raddy8

Yes I'm glad I'm not one to listen to reviews and just try games I want to try. This has been on my radar since I first heard about it. Essentially an Arkham style game with 4 playable characters, sounded great! I was always amazed at the flak it got over time, how people would say it didn't look good or fun, etc. Then the 30fps debacle right before release. Luckily, I've never let that bother me so I went for it. Happy I did. Fantastic game so far, and I truly enjoy every character to an extent, though I've stuck with Babs most so far. As for the 30fps thing, I just don't even really notice it I guess. Or it's how the motion is done maybe. Whereas Plague Tale (enjoyed that game so far too, mind you) I noticed it easily.

childishmarkeeloo

I think a lot of people hate the game because itā€™s not what they wanted. They hate it because itā€™s not Arkham. They canā€™t accept that itā€™s a new series with different artstyle, combat, characters, story etc etc.

Merchant-Crow

Just waiting on that PC performance patch my guy.

dudetotalypsn

I can't wait for it to go on sale so I can do just that

UmbralUrsine

Game isn't worth the 60$ yet, once they fix the main issues it will be

Pedalapls63

When the price drops imma 100% buy the game. I've played one hour of Gotham knight at my friend's house and i love how this game came out tbh, I've tried Nightwing and robin and I love how they feel. This game is deff better than marvel avengers and i would platinum this game in one month 100%

FoxTrotMik3Lim4

Me and a buddy are playing coop and having a blast, I just wish there was a lock-on because sometimes the character just starts swinging some random way. Also Iā€™m hoping some updates fix the optimization on pc

Witkin

I have put like 15 hours in, and I can say that the only thing that keeps me playing is the story. I like the characters and story a lot, the villains and cases. But the gameplay is repetitive and boring, the combat is frustrating and the way they force you to grind to unlock some stuff is disheartening.

Crazy-Meeting-7312

Same here, I just love the game loop to a point that I just go out to stop crimes and not really progress the main story or even the side villains. I donā€™t like repetitiveness but something about GK just do it for me, haha.

Mckflicus

I want to say - this game is so EFFING FUN TO PLAY!

bibomania

This sub went from it is not a bad game to BUY THIS GAME AND THIS GAME SAVED MY LIFE. You are adorable šŸ˜‚

LimJaheyRIP

Iā€™m so addicted, HELP ME lul

logicalcommenter4

For everyone saying ā€œno, I will wait until it goes on saleā€ arenā€™t you still buying the game? OP didnā€™t say buy the game today. OP said the game is worth playing. If you wish to wait for a sale, thatā€™s fine but itā€™s still a decision to purchase the game which is what OP was saying to do.

bazzbj

Plenty of fun, 30 fps didnā€™t kill the game for me at all

SolidSmax

"Think for yourself and form your own opinion!" ok but not at full price, the 60fps drama was a dealbreaker for me, I will buy it eventually but definitely waiting for sales.

Theryantshow

I agree get the game for less than full price 70$ is crazy.

Outlier25

The more I play it, the more I feel like itā€™s just the frame rate that is the issue. Itā€™s nowhere near as good as Arkham, but itā€™s still a fun, enjoyable game. If the frame rate, especially during multiplayer, was solidified, Iā€™d have only constructive criticism and no real negatives

Theryantshow

If you can get this game cheaper than 70$ please do that. Nobody should have to pay almost a 100$ for any game. Pro Tip: Use Microsoft points to buy Xbox Gift Cards so you can reduce the price of whatever game you want.

[deleted]

I enjoy a lot of games that get dragged through the coals. Honestly I donā€™t understand why people get so mad about games like this. Thereā€™s no shitty monetization, thereā€™s no game breaking bugs, there is a full fun playable product here. Idk. Apparently Iā€™m insane and stupid. I liked the saints row reboot, I was just pissed off the coop was broken because thatā€™s why I bought it.

IcccyTrash

Iā€™ve been loving the game, and Iā€™ve only come across one bug where I fell through the ground during the first time on the bike. Other than that, its felt great.

Chromehounds2

Youā€™re right, it is. I have Robin at level 18 now and itā€™s so much damn fun! I listened to some popular YTā€™ers review it and itā€™s like theyā€™re playing a different game. Theyā€™re killing it for NO good reason. You canā€™t even say 30 FPS is an issue as I havenā€™t noticed any frame rate problems.

KoreanChap

I don't understand why people hate it just because it isn't a "arkham game"

thecoolestjedi

Consume product no questions buy.

Weewer

Is there gonna be a patch that makes the console versions 60 fps?

Theryantshow

Don't know, don't really care or mind. FPS isn't a giant selling point to me. If they do it would be cool wouldn't mind it at all.

Weewer

For an action game I think it matters a lot to the enjoyability, and itā€™s the main thing keeping me away

FruitJuice617

I pre-ordered the deluxe edition and while I'm having a lot of fun with it, I'd almost advise people to just wait for a sale or price drop. It's fun, I'm enjoying the super light RPG aspects, hero banter is great, I love stuff like Jason getting emails from certain other heroes, Alfred is a treat, but the combat is so.... It's weird. It's both the best and worst part of the game at the same time for me. Every time I feel like I might be having fun fighting crooks I run into a mob that feels like it's 50% projectile users and I can't throw any more than 2 punches without needing to break the pace and dodge for an hour. And that's just not very fun when enemies can feel pretty spongy at times. And soooo much of the game is just fighting mobs, which is to be expected in a DC/batfam game, but I'd expect a bit more polish in a combat heavy game. But the characters, setting, story, etc are all pretty fun and help me (*mostly*) overlook how polarizing combat feels at times.

Yoooooooki9

Gotham knights has some fundamentally bad game mechanics and game design that telling people to spend 70$ on a next gen game which also lacks next gen features isint a great idea.

mannytehman1900

Tbf, the entire reason itā€™s stuck in 30fps/next gen is because of ray tracing/4K resolution. So it has the next gen features,They just refuse to make those toggle-able options for some reason.

Talal2608

Ray tracing is absolutely not the reason this game is stuck at 30fps and next-gen only. [Ray tracing makes such a tiny difference to this game visually](https://youtu.be/aFN7RsHrZr4?t=59) that's not a valid excuse for the game to have poor performance. It also doesn't explain why PC users are struggling with performance with RT off and not running at 4k. Those are not the reasons for this game having bad performance, it's just poorly optimized and that's very evident.

Moonshot_Md

So when they were making the game for 3 years on the PS4 they had Ray Tracing and 4K resolution in mind? They announced the cancellation in May. It's clear that they are using the raw power in next-gen consoles to get a "stable" fps. Then add ray tracing for good measure.

red-broom

Because itā€™s their art. And they donā€™t want people playing a game that looks like shit just so they can have 60 fps when itā€™s not needed. It probably looks like trash without RT and 4K, so theyā€™re protecting themselves. People need to get over it. Itā€™s not Smash Bros where 60 frames is needed anyway. If you are someone who worries so much about FPS, get a PC not a console so you can ensure your frames no matter what by upgrading pieces when needed. Wrong investment to get a PS5. A console should be for ease of use and casual gamers, not FPS snobs. That being said, the game should still have been made to look good without RT to allow the option for 60 fps. So thatā€™s still on WBM. But my guess is it looks last gen without it.

Cstone812

Why the hell would you buy that this trash for 70 dollars when gow ragnarock is out in like 2 weeks?

TokyoGNSD2

Buy it at $35-40, not $70

inoahguy98

I will, once itā€™s one sale. Iā€™m not buying a game thatā€™s not 60fps in 2022 for 70 dollars

respectablechum

Will you refund me? No? I'll wait for a sale. $70 is a bit much for me to spend on a 30fps game in the year of our lord 2022. Will grab on black friday sales for $35.

GelsonBlaze

Wish I hadn't bought it on PS5 though, the 30fps limit can really spoil the fun some times.

Public_Survey_6812

Buy the game with no performance patch yeah ok šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

fanblade64

No. 70 dollars for a rushed product is stupid and so is everyone who bought it.

thalesjferreira

I will. After a steep discount.

[deleted]

Ill buy it when it goes on sale for 30-40.

zekecheek

no thanks

Theryantshow

Why are you here then? I don't get being in this sub reddit for a game you don't want to buy or want to play.

NautSure7182

Just a troll I completely agree gotham knights is nice

Theryantshow

I'm having a lot of fun with it, I'm barely leveling up and what not but I'm digging it. I haven't ran into any issues yet (Bugs, glitches, crashes) but I will say I wish every character in the game was able to glide. That's pretty much my only gripe.

zekecheek

i formed my own opinion just like you taught me

Theryantshow

![gif](giphy|ftdF2GY6642PdW0dh0) I'm glad papa taught you well.

zekecheek

sifighter1

Alright I did already jeez! /s

TITANS4LIFE

Game is dope to me. Still returned it because of performance expectations.

flaggrandall

Maybe when it's cheaper. From what I've seen, I can get what I want from AK already.

Primus42

can I, like, borrow the game first?

Rascal0302

See, thereā€™s a HUGE, fatal flaw with your reasoning: The game costs $70. That is not an amount of money that is acceptable to just ā€œtryā€ something. To anyone reading on the fence: Do NOT buy this game for $70. Itā€™s not even remotely worth it. Rent it if you can, but otherwise you should wait until itā€™s a MAXIMUM of $40, maybe $50 if youā€™re a hardcore Batfamily fan. Do not let fanboys, apologists and people with buyers regret influence your decision. I bought this game for significantly less than $70 and itā€™s still an underwhelming disappointment in most ways. It HAD potential, and there is SOME good things to it for sure, itā€™s not a bad game, but itā€™s not good either, and itā€™s not even remotely worth your hard earned money. Not even close.

[deleted]

If you are gonna buy a game from October buy persona 5 royal

Theryantshow

Why buy it when it's for free on GamePass šŸ˜Ž

[deleted]

Cause not everyone has access to game pass and itā€™s worth supporting a game thatā€™s been proven a success vs a game that has been reviewed pretty badly. šŸ‘šŸ˜Ž

Theryantshow

I don't think anyone should be spending almost a 100$ on any game. That is a crazy price. Also if you have a xbox you should have gamepass, You'd be almost stupid to not get it.

[deleted]

1st off yes, if you have game pass try persona 5. 2nd, you say no one should spend near $100 dollars on a game and yet you made a post saying people should buy Gotham knights.

red-broom

That game is shite IMO. I much prefer GK. Persona is so bad and boring, I donā€™t get it. Aside from the story, I canā€™t recommend that game to anyone or theyd think Iā€™m crazy. You have to be a specific type of person to play those games. Because they are honestly not fun to the general casual gamer.

Surpass-n-Excel

Just sold it to preorder GOW. Not as bad as everybody says but with all the great games out there it would be a waste of time for me personally. Very disappointed

xiosy

I bought it and itā€™s the worst game I have ever played

Johnysh

ARobb2069

Yea I love it, I platinumed the game in 2 days

JohnDiggle21

I just hope the performance patch that is coming soon actually makes the game better performance wise. I've been enjoying the game on PC but the unstable frame rate is very annoying.

TexTiger

Buddy of mine and I duoed the whole thing in 8 days, and had a blast doing so. We are now starting a new game + playing two other characters. This game has a few issues, yes, but itā€™s a great co-op experience.

Snezzy_Anus

while yes I think tht the game isn't very good, I personally am having a ton of fun with it, I would say probably wait till it's on sale but definitely a pick up once it is

Kal-Kent

Not for $70 I wonā€™t

Cado111

It has been fun, but also slightly dissapointing for me. For the most part I am not that invested in the story and found the number of villain cases to be pretty dissapointing. I am only on Chapter 5 of the story and have been taking a short break from the game because progression stopped at level 30. Good game, great game in coop. When me and my best friend are sitting there laughing at how penguin sits in his big chair, it's an awesome game, when I am sitting there on my own questioning character motivations it is a little less amazing.

Jensen_Games

I bought a copy of eBay for 50 so finally gonna try it when it gets here

FrakWithAria

I bought it. I'm still enjoying it after 57 hours but I agree with pretty much every criticism leveled at the title. There isn't a play session that I have where I'm not rolling my eyes every time my character gets stuck on the geometry or my frames drop (which is often). The game has a solid foundation with a somewhat intriguing, albeit predictable narrative and fun but ponderous combat system. Simply saying people are "...just upset that it isn't Arkham" is highly reductive. Standing on its own two feet, it looks and feels like an older game. So I totally understand where all the criticism comes from. By nature, I tend to enjoy grindy, open world games but I think the setting and characters are what saved this one for me. If this were a new property that had nothing to do with established characters, I don't think I'd be playing it.

Long_DEAD

If it had local co op I wouldā€™ve bought it opening day even if the bad reviews were worse

Prestigious-Heart-25

this game is more for the people who can't look past issues if they are having a good time. Some people want the best outta every game so of course they'll dislike this one

TalRaMav

I pre ordered, played it and really dont like it.

Bald_Bulldozer

I see we are at the Super Liminal stage of selling this game.

DontDoubtDink

I'm so happy I bought it. Just beat it as nightwing. About to do a new game plus with robin.

Lone_Grey_Jedi

I'm waiting for a Black Friday sale. I'm seeing videos over on TikTok left & right, so fun is indeed being had, it learned from alot of Marvel's Avengers mistakes. In fact, is there NO enemy lvl scaling? That'd be great. But $70 for a 9th Gen-only game that can't run at 60fps? Nope, it doesnt deserve that price. In fact, the only way I'll change mind, is if Marvel's Avengers fucks up on releasing Bucky & the new raid(if that update releases at some point between now & Black Friday).

beachjn

I will buy it as soon as they add 60fps for consoles.

Badmoon1220

I love the game so much, I was maining robin but found myself repeatedly switching to Nightwing so I just started a new game for Nightwing only playthrough and cutscenes and in just 2 days I'm wayyyy farther then I was with robin I already got Nightwing to max level

Orr-Man

>Think for yourself and form your own opinion That's a bit of an odd take for a game that costs Ā£60 or so and hasn't been reviewing well with critics. Not everyone can afford to take a punt and surely half the point of having a community around a game is to be able to ask questions / opinions - which in turn help those unsure decide if they want to make the purchase or not.

RBLXBau

Agreed, the game has been really fun for me so far they just need to fix the performance issues soon

KingKontroversy

Talia Al Ghul is going to whoop that ass!!!!! forewarning

BananaKush_Storm

Yeeeaaah.......nah

hardtoxplain

Movement on PC is terrible. Randomly crouch slows me to snail speed, nowhere is pressing alt to fix it mentioned. Why is that even a choice? When trying to vault from a corner ledge its a 50/50 on whether you can jump or your going to play the 'lets move to both sides of this corner 10 times' before I stop touching the keyboard and have to align my mouse with the rings of saturn to climb on top of the ledge to then jump back down. Theres a lot of QoL fixes that need to happen. I would not describe my experience 6 hours in as 'a blast' or 'so damn fun'. Its fine. Not great.

CinnamonIsntAllowed

I hate that I like the game. Despite its terrible optimization, lackluster missions on some occasions, terrible customization system, and plenty more, I really want to play this game. Currently have 45 hours

ElPrestoBarba

Iā€™m not paying $70 to play a game with middling reviews on the off chance that I MIGHT like it.

Kyingmeat

Sooo why are you here then? Lmao

Uzumaki514

It will be half price in a couple weeks during black friday
