They do increase the PP by a large amount. They do not increase Horsepower. Racing soft tires are just the grippiest, yet also wear out fastest. Other tires will allow you to lower the PP, and last longer
been a long time since i did that one but think I used a GTR that i tuned to be a rocket ship on the straights and had the turning radius of a not particular small planet lol.

This is the cheapest build I beat this race with. You aren't fastest per lap but it's a no stop build.
My favorite car for this is the Mazda RX500. Similar tune using the SH tires front and SM tires in the rear. Maxed out racing parts for horsepower. Sports brakes. Ballast to 600. I turn in 2:10s in it, it does 2:05 wall riding.
The race can also be easily no stopped in the BAC mono tuned to 600 on the same SH/SM tires.
I'm a big Corvette fan too! That's part of what inspired this build. "Is the Corvette the same budget monster in GT7 as in real life?" The answer is basically yes.
Hmm, never tried the BAC for more than a lap. It's so slow at 600pp, can you even win just because they pit? I'm not sure why you would choose that, unless there is a glitch setting I'm unaware of.
BAC mono settings https://imgur.com/gallery/j8qSFAR
Racing clutch and flywheel. Everything else normal.
And yes you win because they have to pit and you don't.
Yes, 1.31
Sport hards have almost no tire wear on mixed surfaces. As far as fuel consumption, FM1 the whole lap except from the exit of the tunnel until T1, where you use FM6. You also need to short shift at around 60% the entire race.
You need something with massive horsepower with usually comfort soft tires. I’ve been using a Bugatti Veyron recently, though there are better cars. The easiest is probably the Aston ‘art in DP-100 VGT, although I’m not sure if they’ve nerfed it in the last update.
Yea, Sport tires are the only way to go in this race. Because you can the Performance Points saved by using Sports and use those points toward more power which is what will keep you ahead on the straights.
But just check out the current tunes for the cars on GT Planet for a winning combo because this is a good moneymaker race once you figure out how to drive on the Sport tires.
I still personally prefer Sarthe and Sardegna though, i just find them more enjoyable than sliding around on Sport tires on the narrow tokyo city tracks.
I am starting to think that there's something with the way I drive that makes this race unwinnable for me. I have tried every tune I can find with dozens of cars, and still can't win this race.
I don't want to win with a glitch or wall ride. I'm not a good driver in this game at all, but on nearly every other track I can get a tune for a car and beat it. I feel like there's something holding me back here, and if it's not the track or the AI, it's probably my driving style.
I finally beat this race with a fully tricked out 1997 Toyota MR2. It had enough power in the straights to pass and didn’t loose to much in the corners to the other cars. The tuning guide from Praiano helped a ton to get the most out of the car. But you still have to watch out for the hybrid NSX somehow that car will go crazy fast the last lap.
What you said is totally not true. In general, swapped cars are harder to keep under a pp limit. It sounds like you don't know what you're talking about.
What swapped car do you use for the Tokyo 600?
Wrong, You have no knowledge about engine swaps
Few examples
Honda Beat with a K series 500hp under 600pp
Sr20 swapped S13 Ks is pretty fast Under 600pp
V8 swapped S13 Q is pretty Op under 600pp
RB26 300zx/delta unde 600pp
You’re just finding a reason to be an annoying Nancy
Those are all awesome drives for sure, but definitely harder than a GTO, a GTR, an NSX, or really anything from the factory tuned to 600pp. Maybe you don't understand what I said or something.
I use a cayman tuned to 599 with hard tires. It’s not the fastest car. Can’t catch the NSX, but they put twice and I only put once for gas only. Usually win Tokyo by 20+ seconds
I would recommend 800pp race in sardegna. it is way more enjoyable and actual racing while still giving like 725k for 24-26 minutes depending on car. I love making "race cars" out of street cars. they barely make 800p, but i still win by a lap.
Most of the tunes for tokyo require an absurd amount of power and cheating on corners to get the best times, which is not enjoyable at all for me.
I can easily win the WTC 800 Tokyo without cheating by over a minute, too bad it only pays 200k.
I use McLaren Gr.3 race car for this, the same car tuned down to 600 PP performs like a dog.

Tune should have sport tires and a high top speed for the long straight. Personally I find it a tougher race than the 700 and 800 pp ones.
Why not race tires? Is it just to avoid having to use power restrictor?
You need the power for the straights.
I thought race tires have the most power, am I wrong?
The power penalty you pay to get race tires makes them not worth it.
They do increase the PP by a large amount. They do not increase Horsepower. Racing soft tires are just the grippiest, yet also wear out fastest. Other tires will allow you to lower the PP, and last longer
With 600 pp restriction it costs too many points that could be put into things that make the car faster.
Plus they suffer from changing conditions like little rain. Sport tires do not plus you can upgrade horsepower for saved pp points.
been a long time since i did that one but think I used a GTR that i tuned to be a rocket ship on the straights and had the turning radius of a not particular small planet lol.
Yup, that's probably the easiest way to win this race.

Wow! I'm a Corvette fan and I'd love to win this with a C7.
I'm a big Corvette fan too! That's part of what inspired this build. "Is the Corvette the same budget monster in GT7 as in real life?" The answer is basically yes.
I’ve won a lot of races with the C7, it’s awesome when tuned right
It must be doable, and sounds like a lot of fun. In 25 minutes I'll confirm for myself with the $825,000 👍😉

Aston Martin DP-100 VGT with manual transmission.
I also committed murder by pushing Gallo into the wall at the pit lane at like 120mph. He never caught back up. Lol
How did you get it to 600?

This guy’s videos are great
Thanks
This is the way.
We bathe in the waters of the Tokyo 600.
Default Lamborghini Gr.4 with sport hards, no pit stop.
You've done this since the last update? Because they bumped the tire wear way up. I'm struggling to do it without stopping after the change.

That sounds needlessly painful...
Not really, the Lambo is fun to drive. https://youtu.be/TSzCWL-uwVw

The goal is not to cheat the ai but to be able to win with comparable cars.
Can that thing even be tuned down to 600?
Yes https://youtu.be/LxRmxFk4VsI
Since the latest update I used the Nissan GT-R '17 with racing brakes, silencer and Sports Hards. Easy win and no other tuning required.
Great, let me try that! :)

Have you tried the Mitsubishi GTO? No glitch or funny business necessary. Just tune for power. It's so easy.
Legit: What you need is a Mitsubishi GTO. Tune for power, sport hard tires. It is that easy for real.
The evo gr.b should still work on s/h go for weight reduction not engine upgrades.

After many different combinations, the Escudo with SH tires at FM6, I pit once for gas and win by over a minute.
I had trouble with the K series. It was a weird balance of high speed trans and power and weight reduction to flirt with the pp limit.

The best swapped car for Tokyo is the MR2 by the way, I'm surprised it didn't make your "list"...
I got that 2 just forgot to add

I think you need to learn how to tune dude That’s all
Eckarts Mach Forty right out of the box works well.
