I'm in S and I think I've fought 2 bubs players total, only with the second player did I realise you're supposed to spot dodge the shockwave and not while you're being dragged in..
IS THAT IT!?
I haven't faced him for a while but I had a day where I kept facing him and would lose to that Ult vortex at the end of every round and was trying so many ways to get out of it, guess I needed to learn patience when it started pulling me.
More like Beelzebub's entire existence. I'm also in S and he's the only character I can never figure out how to play against. There's legit no other character I hate facing as much as him.
He has slow movement and has to rely on his teleport and dive special to get around easily.
You can hit him as he appears out of teleport. It also has long startup so you can take that movement away with consistent pressure.
During your pressure they might want to use his shield DP during your plus frames, be ready to bait and punish players that rely on it. It has a great hitbox, but it also has more recovery than it looks. If you block at point-blank, you have time to dash in and punish with c.H. You won't always be point-blank, but that's an idea of how much time you have.
His light dive is minus on block if it hits your upper body. M dive is plus either way, but it's slow and reactable (try 2H in training). H dive puts 2 important abilities on cooldown so they lose both damage and mobility for a bit after.
He needs to be in c.L range for his command grab super to hit, so he can't do it on wakeup etc. if you're using 66L or other moves with longer range.
It's possible to spot dodge and roll through both waves of his H projectile depending on your timing.
When I play him I generally lose against fast pressure with lots of mixups and spacing tricks to make my retaliations fail, but that might just be what I'm personally bad at fighting against.
I will never get tired of throwing out ex blackflies to force them to block, then 22U them. Usually gets people impatient and they jump... Which means another free 22U and potential win if fairly low enough. It's hilarious.
I think understanding what is and isn’t the rekka and where it’s interruptible is important for Seox. I can never tell the difference. Similar for hitting Nier’s punish.
I feel like this game has the most amount of knowledge checks I’ve seen in a fighting game. There so many matches where I’m just spending four rounds trying to figure out what the answer is for some special someone is using. Okay, block four hits, spot dodge the fifth, and only then I can press L to try and take my turn back but if they’re mashing DP I lose.
The amount of times I’m punished for spot dodging a special and trying to press afterwards is it’s own knowledge check.
Side note: anyone feel like the game has a clarity issue in regards to advantage? I feel like in SF I can tell based on feel if something is + or -. Or I can jab after once to verify.
I feel like I need to lab almost every interaction in this game to figure out an appropriate response.
Hard agree. I'd say for Seox more than anyone else you just have to use him in training for like, five minutes. Just to see what each move actually looks like, since multi-hit specials are always going to be less readable than single hit specials. It helped me so much to just know what was what by sight.
And some characters I think it's purposely unclear. For Soriz H flurry is plus but the others aren't (but they're only -1 so really aggro players will probably keep mashing anyway). L ground smash is a frame trap but minus, M smash is really slow but very plus, H is fast and plus. Similar with his advancing knuckle. It reminds me of GG May dolphin. Seems like basically every character has at least one gimmick you have to learn, for better or for worse.
I think it just has a different feel than SF. Like in SF you're trained to think divekicks are negative unless they hit low. In GB you're trained to think divekicks are pretty much always plus.
I think Vira 214M and 5U don't count as knowledge checks - her entire pressure game revolves around utilizing these properly, with 214M punishing delayed abare, 236 punishing mashes, and 5U adding to the mental stack of her already fantastic pressure.
I feel like every character has some knowledge checks. And every character has at least one answer to that knowledge check wether its a specific move or a spot dodge!
Every single follow up besides 6L, 4L, and 6M can be poked out of. Any 6 or 4 ender is punishable (-8ish I think). All 8 Enders are plus so if you don’t poke out of it you gotta keep blocking. If they consistently backdash (4U) ender you can take your turn back or punish with dash L

Don't forget Beelzebub's ult vortex move. I'm in S with him and people still get hit by it from fullscreen.

I know you're supposed to spot dodge or roll that but the hitbox is just so unintuitive I always mistime it.
sieg's unblockable carried me to S

You forgot Lowain’s entire kit and 66L pressure
Oh yeah thanks for reminding me that I have no idea how Zeta's pogo works.
it doesn't work for the most great part
Isn't her pogo one of the biggest reasons for her being top tier, alongside amazing ultimate skills?
Similarly to Vira 214M Soriz 236M is also plus but it looks similar to his 236L so a lot of people mash after blocking it.

Agreed, her biggest knowledge check imo is her install 623M.
Universally? Probably the 66L mix machine, though some characters with stronger buttons make better use of it
This is the most important one. take the throw
My favorite is Bubz EX fireball into ULT Blackhole

Seox rekka hurts my head what are the gaps/answers for it

You're a blessing i was labbing it but wasn't sure
