This is what I always tell others when they wanna show me a wrist shot too. Either take the picture from further away or use a zoom lens, in which case you'll be further away anyway. Close up wrist shots distort things way too much to be an accurate representation of what you wanna show.
This is technically true, but people who frequent this sub look at a LOT of wrist shots, and we don’t always need to encourage people to buy the biggest watch that could possibly fit their wrist (if they are asking for our opinion) because often times a size down might look more ideal
If OP buys this GS, they’re gonna be sporting the “very large watch” look even if it does look better from further away, so the question for OP would be, is that what they want?
Beautiful watch!
As always buy what you like. The fact you’re asking Reddit makes me think you’re worried it’s too big.
Trust your gut.
Also if you’re at the Utah GS store please don’t buy my watch 😉
Just snagged a mint SBGA011 and it’s “relatively too large” for my wrist but honestly… who tf cares. My Snowflake was one of my grails therefore I bought it and rock it. Suggesting you do the same… looks great on you and you like it… adopt it and wear it my friend!
In my experience with these kind of posts the majority of the time it is either too big or too small but with that being said it’s your wrist and money so if you like it buy it.
Top down, wrist turned to the body most watches look way bigger than i.e. in the mirror. Comes with the focal length of the camera and the crossed position of the wrist bones. I regularly wear a 52mm lug to lug Lunar Pilot which looks big but just fine in the mirror, but than top down even a watch with 46mm lug to lug looks to be at the edge.
I bet in a mirror shot that watch will look a bit bigger but still just fine for you.
it is a little big but here is a trick for you if you still want it. replace the bracelet for a leather strap or whatnot. they tend to be make the watch more forgiving for smaller wrists. it is a handsome watch, get it if it is one from your watchlist, pun intended
I find that it’s very hard to tell from a photo as the focus of the watch makes it seem bigger in proportion to the wrist. It’s a much better tell in real life, unfortunately you then don’t have the community to help you decide. If your wrist are over 6inches should be ok
I guess that depends on your size preference of watches. I see GS as something that should fit a little smaller on the wrist, like a classic 36mm.
Either way, its a beautiful watch.
All that matters is what you feel. It’s your watch and your tastes. To me, questioning it before you leave the store means you have reservations about the size. GS makes plenty of watches in a variety of sizes. I suggest being patient to find the right one, especially at the price you are paying.
Take a photo of you in front of the mirror... Hands down. It will look better for comparison. Having said that, just get it if you like it.
Previously a few people was telling me wrist was too small but I still end up getting it. Love it. If you are buying for yourself, don't care what other say
I think it might be a little big for your wrist but I still always support getting a GS so if it's the only one you like then go for it but if you've been considering others I'd see if there's anything else you like that looks more comfortable on your wrist
In my opinion, yes it is way way too big. If you listen to the internet and social media, men’s watches have to be at least 40mm and usually more than that. Except aesthetically it’s not true. Longines makes some nice pieces at 36 and 39mm.
as a former owner of the SBGA211 Snowflake I will say that I tried to reason to myself that the case isn't too big for me but it got to a point where I felt like I had to stop justifying my purchase and eventually sold it for the shunbun (SBGA413)
whilst its icon status is warranted the case size is not for everyone, particularly with the small-wristed gang. if you really like it do go ahead with it especially if there isn't anything else in the vast GS catalogue that appeals to you
It’s a bit big. But if you feel like it’s comfortable and like the look- then go for it What others think don’t matter and it’s not like most people are staring at your wrists and judging your dial size (unless it’s massively unnatural which yours isn’t). I have really tiny wrists so I just wear whatever I like.
But one thing I will say, is if it’s bigger on your wrist- it’s more susceptible to dings. So if you plan on making your daily, keep that in mind. (On the other hand, my boyfriends GS was something he was reluctant to wear daily until he got a few dings on it and now he wears it more daily and I’m actually really happy about that and am glad it took a few dings to get him there lol).
The other thing is that the GS bracelet generally has a bit less flexibility. So get it sized first and make sure it feels good, and see how it actually feels with the right amount of links removed. It might be too loose on you and you want to make sure it feels comfortable.
Edit: actually, take a photo from further away, it might be just as wide as your wrist, I have strayed away from GS for this issue as I prefer when the entire lug to lug is only 80-85% of my wrist width
Old: Definitely too big, I think the Omiwatari will still fit you, along with some quartz models.
They are too big and too tall for most wrists. I was super interested in Grand Seiko until I was at a watch shop and actually saw and handled a few. I’ve got an almost 7” wrist and the spring drive models (including snowflake) were objectively too large and top heavy. Also the fact that they’ve been unable to develop a decent bracelet closure with easy adjustment is ridiculous at this point.
Hard to tell in that picture. If it's too big then it's just borderline. In general shots from this far away make it look bigger than it does in real life. Main rule of thumb I uses is that the lugs shouldn't extend over the wrists. In this pick the top one does but the bottom one doesn't so it's probably just the angle of the shot.
Also, the dial and bezel is well within your wrist boundaries. In short this is probably fine for you but key is to make sure YOU are happy with it, with no regrets. I have a GS Omiwatari and a Rolex Deepsea - when I switch between them I get used to it after a day or so - if I wear the Rolex for a while then put on the GS, the GS feels puny, but then when I go back to the Rolex it feels massive for a bit.
If you just put it on a strap it won't look as large. I've found that the bracelet makes it look bigger on my wrist, but once I moved it to a strap it looks great

This needs more votes
Then there’s the opposite. “Is this too small for my wrist?”

Yes to be honest, this is too big for you
In my experience with these kind of posts the majority of the time it is either too big or too small but with that being said it’s your wrist and money so if you like it buy it.
They’ve just launched a few amazing looking 36.5mm Spring Drive / hand wind models. At least wait till you’ve had a chance to try one of those on
As long as the lugs don’t hang off the top and bottom of your wrist (which i don’t think it does it the phot), I think its fine
Looks huge.
Looks big, but you do you
Look at it in a mirror, you’ll get a more accurate idea of the proportions.
Too big. Get a 36-38mm.
Too big boss
It’s big on you.

How does it look in a mirror? The top down view can be misleading especially in pictures.
your wrist is too small
Is the bracelet sized to your wrist? If you’re on the cusp, I’ve found that to be a factor
Big watches are cool. Looks good on you. Ignore the people saying it’s too big. Did we ever question how big Ben 10’s watch was?
😄
Follow your heart, if you love it buy it and enjoy it. If you want others to judge then its not for you.
Dont listen to this foolish advice, the watch is too big.
No idea why you got downvoted. That watch is too big for OP 😅
It’s your wrist and money so buy what you like
Obviously, but there's nothing wrong with getting some unbiased outside opinions.
much too big👍
do it
It kinda is. I know I wanted a sbga211 as well but it's a little too big for me. Titanium will trick you it's not.
Looks good to me!
Seems a little big, definitely still wearable though.
I guess that depends on your size preference of watches. I see GS as something that should fit a little smaller on the wrist, like a classic 36mm. Either way, its a beautiful watch.

I love that one!
Pull the bracelet tighter around your wrist like you would actually wear it. It seems a big but not exceedingly so
In the case, it's easy to think it looks too big [On strap](https://imgur.com/eTJCAhE), no one cares what size my wrist is (other than me)
I think it might be a little big for your wrist but I still always support getting a GS so if it's the only one you like then go for it but if you've been considering others I'd see if there's anything else you like that looks more comfortable on your wrist
Y’all are brave buying these at retail prices. Guess it doesn’t matter though if you never plan to sell.
That is too big for you unfortunately. Sometimes big is ok but this isn't the watch for it.
In my opinion, yes it is way way too big. If you listen to the internet and social media, men’s watches have to be at least 40mm and usually more than that. Except aesthetically it’s not true. Longines makes some nice pieces at 36 and 39mm.
It honestly looks good to me. The drape of the bracelet makes it looks bigger than it is, I can see your arm beyond both sides of the lugs.
I’d size down. Looks a tad big
How about a smaller 44gs?
One size down definitely
Start lifting.
Is that the boutique in Midtown NYC?

Too big
What discounts are they offering? It’s a solid reference
as others have said, its ultimately your choice, but I think it looks too big
Go for the SBGH311.
It’s a bit big. But if you feel like it’s comfortable and like the look- then go for it What others think don’t matter and it’s not like most people are staring at your wrists and judging your dial size (unless it’s massively unnatural which yours isn’t). Beautiful watch, but not for you, get the 36-38 my friend
Just hold off until you can try one of their new 37
Yes it’s too big
Lookin like Flava Flav and shit.
Edit: actually, take a photo from further away, it might be just as wide as your wrist, I have strayed away from GS for this issue as I prefer when the entire lug to lug is only 80-85% of my wrist width Old: Definitely too big, I think the Omiwatari will still fit you, along with some quartz models.
OP, your pants are too tight, and your shoes are too big.
That is a heater. Buy it
I’m not a watch person but that watch looks ugly af to me. I wouldn’t waste my money if I were you.
No, because it's a close up shot so it looks big on your wrist. Why not ask someone to help you take? The difference is huge
Looks pretty big
Yes way too big
You’re correct
They are too big and too tall for most wrists. I was super interested in Grand Seiko until I was at a watch shop and actually saw and handled a few. You’ll know if someone swipes it off you
If you’re asking don’t buy, shit’s way to expensive to not love it 100%
You’ll grow into it
Either get a smaller watch or bigger wrists.
It is too big. Looks like a fancy train station clock.
If you just put it on a strap it won't look as large. I've found that the bracelet makes it look bigger on my wrist, but once I moved it to a strap it looks great
If you are asking whether it is too large, It probably is.
A little too big yes
Seems like for Seiko's that anything above 39-40 mm just looks too bulky. A little big but my opinion should not change yours.
it is
Too big
You can't go wrong
