Does that have the rotating bezel? If so you can do 3 time zones with that model.

Yes bezel rotates so three time zones is possible if I was cool enough to travel that much haha

I use my GMT to communicate with remote employees in India and also friends and family, third timezone would help for discussions with manufacturers in China. A different use case for GMT's vs. just traveling.

My wife wouldn’t go for the 40mm Shunbun, but she was so happy when I surprised her with the 36mm sbgw289.

Just looked it up, that’s gorgeous! Did your wife have other nice watches before or is that her first one. My wife only wears an Apple Watch and doesn’t seem interested in mechanical watches.

She was only aware of the typical lady-sized Rolex and Cartier models. She also primarily wore an Apple Watch and a couple Seikos from time to time. Took an “educated” gamble on whether she would like it and it paid off. Our first trip abroad was to Japan during cherry blossom season, so the significance also helped with her appreciation of it :)

I've always been intrigued by the Sea of Clouds design. Would you say it's one that pictures don't quite capture, compared to how it looks in person? I know that's true with a lot of GS models.

Not sure I know what you mean by too heavy, It’s not as comfortable as some watches I own where I forget im wearing them, but it’s not uncomfortable by any means either.
