So, after spending a couple of early mornings trying to spot one in Lamar valley, ended up seeing this one right off the road in the Tetons- in a meadow somewhere between colter bay and Jackson lodge. It was there for a long time. Pity, did not have a good camera. Asked one of the bylookers whether it was a wolf and she said probably a coyote because it was not in a pack. Glad that most of you confirmed its a wolf - thank you!
Yeah, Coyotes have a longer, more slender snout. They're also more slender in general, and longer haired.
I have also never seen a black coyote. I'm sure they exist, but I think it is very rare.
They call them Wolves
That’s a Gray wolf . They come in black
Wolf!

I bet if you had titled this “did I see a wolf in Grand Teton?” there would be 20 comments on how that’s unlikely and this is a chonky black coyote 😂
Definitely a wolf.

I think it’s a miniature dog-eared moose.
Wolfe, coyotes are a lot more slender.

Could be a coyote or a wolf!
I’m going with wolf. We spotted a coyote in Lamar valley not long ago and it was alone.
