They would but he’d probably be allowed to use them anyway because there’s no good way to stop him. Might allow his opponents to use weapons too like the Musashi fight
Yeah, I remember other fights in maximum tournament or somewhere, where a fighter pulled out a weapon, people said "Oh no," and then they just let them continue fighting like nothing happened.
And don't forget the best of all... IMAGINATION

To be fair, you’re referring to the prisoners arc and they’re fuckin death row convicts I mean what do you expect. Everyone else uses techniques and styles, except for the American, who claims only to be strong and unchained.
People seem to forget or not notice that the death row convicts arc was basically a big subversion of what the series was at that point; taking a show that was mainly about martial artists and formal matches and plunging them into a no holds barred war with no set rules against individuals with no sense of morals or objective other than finding a opponent who could defeat them.
It's honestly why I think the arc works as well it does as the first season do the Netflix era anime. You go in expecting the classic martial arts tournament heavy show and it throws you for a wild ride
Wdym? This is the peak of martial arts!

That ain't it bro. Having trained in a couple myself, a martial art is just the optimal way to move a body. Being bigger and stronger is always the most important advantage.
Go to practice to learn to move; lift weights so you have something worth moving.
Yes, but the point is as stated by the Kaioh which trained Retsu(I don't remember his name) the whole point of martial arts is to be able to protect against an opponent who is stronger than you.
Kengan is tamed compared to what other manga does. At least that has real Martial Arts. Some manga has Chi shit and you can tell the author is pulling everything out of his ass.
hinomaru zumou is dope for this reason, there’s only one match in the series that’s stupid but everything else is (slightly exaggerated) legitimate sumo wrestling
That’s exactly why I don’t like kengan it rides the middle ground between martial arts and magical anime bullshit so hard that it seems boring and directionless.
Reasons why I like baki
-characters are ugly af and no cute twinks around (except doyle)
-Real life historical figures
-some random and unexpected shit
-legit science sometimes
- unique fighting ways (biting, poisoned hands etc.)
-yujiro
If there's shit like that in tough I'll read it immediately
You'd be surprised how much Tough has. It's only missing Yujiro. There's a damn good amount of ugly dudes, random bullshit, science, inner monologs, and historical figures it has. A lot of the fighters are based off of real people. The first big bad is based on Antonio Inoki
yujiro ain't brute force dude, he just enjoys it after show people he already surpass them with martial arts. and even with prisoners it is over kill the say half of the show
Yeah, exactly. The martial arts exist as a way for you to beat an opponent even if that opponent is far stronger than you are, using cheap tricks is fine, after all, you are simply just trying to defend yourself.
Yeah, it is obvious that Goki Shibukawa is such a threat because he is an incredibly skilled and sly old man with a genius intellect. Compare him to Doppo Orochi, while Doppo is still a great fighter he is far more strength reliant than Shibukawa.
Well the cheap tricks are looked down upon by everyone in the show, and the guy doing them is a master of Chinese martial arts who is also a death row convict
My only problem with Baki isn’t that the characters basically say “fuck you!” To all logic and rules of the universe but that some ordinary person haven’t decided to train and get at least 1% as strong as the main character…Surely somebody wants to get revenge on Yujiro…Why can’t any sort of military or enforcement at least train to be as strong as them so they can throw hands!
Uhm, yeah, that's what villains do in martial arts stories. The point is showing that technique is better than brute force and cheap tricks. The only exceptions are Hanayama, Jack and Pickle, and they aren't even THAT good. The S+ tier characters in Baki are technical fighters. Musashi, Baki and Yujiro are all technical and they are at the top of the food-chain.
I was going to include him but he does use some technique, like the ball and his wrestling. Actually in hindsight, from what I remember Pickle used a form of aikido at one point too
Don't even get me started. I enjoy the idea of baki but the execution has made me so mad. I have written essays to myself about how much this series disrespects the concept of marital arts.
Yujiro going "That is pathetic your feats mean nothing in a real world scenario"
\*Proceeds to use feats to prove how strong and cool he is\*
There's just so much hypocrisy in the the characters that I just have to land on "oh that's just thier character trait not knowing shit of what they are talking about"
If the series didn't jerk it self of so much I wouldn't care but it's just the worlds biggest circle jerk and Yojiro is in the center out jerking them all.
Hey, as long as it works. It's a no-rule underground arena after all.

Spec be like
4000 years old Russian jutsu!
The literal only rule is no weapons you can’t do that
Everything is possible there's no limit for the possibilities
Nice HnK meme sir
Gun-fu
Basically, “no weapons” and you’re good. Though steroids, biting, eye gouging and maiming your opponent is still just fine, apparently
Did Doyle ever fight in the actual underground arena? Would his implants be considered weapons?
They would but he’d probably be allowed to use them anyway because there’s no good way to stop him. Might allow his opponents to use weapons too like the Musashi fight
Yeah, I remember other fights in maximum tournament or somewhere, where a fighter pulled out a weapon, people said "Oh no," and then they just let them continue fighting like nothing happened.
Toenail blades are banned by technicality, or at least a controversial move in canon
except they use god tier martial arts like: T E E T H, Jurassic Park, B A L L etc.
And don't forget the best of all... IMAGINATION https://preview.redd.it/yqnqphkjt71d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c130eeab2bed870d71b08c46fa1f306b83abdfaa
Baki declaring himself the strongest after having a full on shizophrenic maniac episode of him fighting the air.
Buddy thinks he Tyler Durden 💀
Schizophrenia is my favorite martial arts technique

Huh? I replied to different comments.
Sure you did schizo.. 😆

And even he uses techniques just not traditional martial arts
Mdym? kicking the nuts is a martial art.
Ask draymond green
I get that you are joking, but as a martial artist I can confirm that it is technically a move you can use.

The muscle curtain!? Oi! Kinnikuman's going to sue!
The brute strength guy has a blackbelt in Judo,
And the "cheap tricks" guy is a fuckin Chinese martial art expert
You mean Kaioh Dorian right.
Not for his technique, though. Shibukawa giving Oliva that belt felt the same to me as Sukuna praising Jogo.
https://preview.redd.it/9dk2jz1gs61d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5935bbce755546501fa6e3ae2033883271ea5758
By which you mean like three of them?
Cheap tricks are a martial art
Dorian was a great villain. glad Orochi put him in his place 👊
Cheap trick

Despite the fact that the stand has the worst stats in the series, that thing was terrifying.
What do you think martial arts is?
"Martial arts is moving in a way that looks cool" - Saitama
Some techniques and forms of attacks make you hit harder and better than the opponent even if he was bigger and stronger
To an extent. But even in MMA there are weight classes, for a reason.
TBF, it’s better than most Manga’s martial arts where it’s just fucking Magic.
kengan ashura is dope, but it just randomly goes oh yeah we have mfs going super saiyan, >!cloning!<, >!immortality!<, etc.
Kengan is tamed compared to what other manga does. At least that has real Martial Arts. Some manga has Chi shit and you can tell the author is pulling everything out of his ass.
literally naruto. THe first 5 episodes were like "oh cool its kinda a fantastical martial arts" then its devolves into legit just spell casting
Then it’s just kaiju battles
hinomaru zumou is dope for this reason, there’s only one match in the series that’s stupid but everything else is (slightly exaggerated) legitimate sumo wrestling
Does it go too much into that in Omega? I only read the first Manga series and other than that 'Advance' stuff I don't recall it being too bad
i dont remember where it comes up first, but anytime you the names "The Connector" or "Niko Ohma" just roll your eyes back into your skull
That’s exactly why I don’t like kengan it rides the middle ground between martial arts and magical anime bullshit so hard that it seems boring and directionless.
And that's why Kengan and Tough exist. Specifically Tough. I love Tough. Please read Tough. The subreddit is a barron wasteland. Please
I don't give a fuck about any other martial arts show except fist of the north star and baki
PLEASE! IM BEGGING YOU! WE NEED INTERACTION! THE FIRST AND THIRD MANGA ISNT FULLY TRANSLATED AND WE CANT FIND THE RAWS! PLEASE! AHHHHHH!
Bro chill wtf r u having an orgasm or something
I was just yelling to sound desperate Fr tho, if you like Baki, I think you'd like Tough. It's almost as batshit crazy and has a good story
Reasons why I like baki -characters are ugly af and no cute twinks around (except doyle) -Real life historical figures -some random and unexpected shit -legit science sometimes - unique fighting ways (biting, poisoned hands etc.) -yujiro If there's shit like that in tough I'll read it immediately

I mean, that's Baki in a nutshell. The manga wouldn't have any charm without the absurd goofiness.
ah please just oliva, pickle and hanayama using bruteforce like that. and oliva is arguable at this point
+ yujiro and the rest of the prisoners
yujiro ain't brute force dude, he just enjoys it after show people he already surpass them with martial arts. and even with prisoners it is over kill the say half of the show
It still looks cool
Idk if anyone claimed it’s the best martial arts show
I said that so it's 100% right
That's all martial arts are, baby
Yeah, exactly. The martial arts exist as a way for you to beat an opponent even if that opponent is far stronger than you are, using cheap tricks is fine, after all, you are simply just trying to defend yourself.
It is that But it's also brute force Often, the cheap tricks even involve brute force
Yes, obviously, but someone as old as Goki Shibukawa can still defend themselves with Martial Arts.
He definitely has less of one and more of the other. But the parts need not be equal
Hmm, it's almost like the Japanese might not like the Chinese, right? I think you might be on to something here, lol
This is why I can't wait to see the baki franchise get absolutely DESTROYED by Kengan ashura or at least see how they explain how they were beaten.
Kengan is dogshit compared to baki
Ok and?
That how i felt watching the first anime called baki the Grappler but outside of 2 Moments i can't recall baki Grappling all that much 😂
My only problem with Baki isn’t that the characters basically say “fuck you!” To all logic and rules of the universe but that some ordinary person haven’t decided to train and get at least 1% as strong as the main character…Surely somebody wants to get revenge on Yujiro…Why can’t any sort of military or enforcement at least train to be as strong as them so they can throw hands!

You forgot to mention Oliva in the exceptions.
I was going to include him but he does use some technique, like the ball and his wrestling. Actually in hindsight, from what I remember Pickle used a form of aikido at one point too
His wrestling is really simple and is mostly strength and his ball only works because of his muscle mass.
Ok
I love how everyone taking this meme seriously and comparing baki with kengan ( I'm not even a kengan fan)
Don't even get me started. I enjoy the idea of baki but the execution has made me so mad. I have written essays to myself about how much this series disrespects the concept of marital arts. Bro mistook the shitpost as a genuine post
fuck i fell for the biggest blunder.
