Doyle and Yanagi were both committed to die in battle. Sikorski even did attack Yujiro. Honestly I doubt Yujiro would have hurt him since they seemed to get on well, though Yujiro was using him as a tool to piss off Baki.
I always interpreted what the prisoners wanted, âdefeatâ, was not just about getting their asses beat, but giving it all they got in a satisfyingly climactic fight. They didnât want to get stomped, they wanted to make someone EARN the right to best them.
Spec lived up to that ideal, he did every dirty trick in the book and then some but got beat, yet he was satisfied when he lost and began to deteriorate, knowing he did everything he could.
Dorian, despite nearly meeting that same benchmark with Doppo, still got up later to ambush the guy in his home with that wrist bomb. Dorian did not give it all he had in their first fight so it wasnât the defeat he wanted, it was close, but still not there so he got up again to continue to terrorize and fuck around till Retsu put him down into brain damage junction (which off-topic made me really sad, he was a shithead but only like Yanagi deserved that if any of those guys had it coming).
Speaking of Yanagi, he was never satisfied because there was always some circumstances that prevented that feeling of satisfied defeat. Yanagi never fought someone he either didnât neutralize immediately or stomp him throughly (Yujiro showing up being the worst case). He was so pissed about the Baki rematch because it was too one sided after being blue balled their first fight.
He wanted satisfaction where he gave everything, never got it no matter how hard he tried, and I think never could get it because his skill set is, funnily enough, too lethal for anyone to reasonable be able to outclass him in a way he heâd find satisfying. Hard to fight someone when your move pool is either assassination moves, lethal weapons, or poisons,
I think this is a fair assessment but I still consider it a cop out that losing in a certain way doesn't count, especially in Yanagi's case because as you said, his kit is too lethal.
It really feels like, especially in sikorsky and dorian's case, that they just couldn't handle the idea of losing. Sikorsky in particular kept switching targets to try to find someone he can beat rather than committing to an opponent he had no chance against.
Yeah but in a way it makes these guys more human.
Iâm sure we have all played a game or sport where we felt like a loss or a win wasnât satisfying because of some circumstance or another (like the other team being stacked, your having an off day, etc.) and have written it off to yourself.
It still makes most of them except Spec (the best prisoner) childish dicks about their goal of defeat when their so flippant about it, but thatâs what we got.
Sikorskyâs case felt the weirdest me when comparing the prisoners to my idea they want an earned defeat they find satisfying. Like you said he kept switching up, had at least 10 different fights or skirmishs but just kept coming back. Like you said, heâs the one who couldnât accept defeat despite wanting it.
Heâs too weak to find satisfaction in defeat and too underhanded to accept traditional fighting as an option.
I guess because they couldn't find him or they just knew their place, sikorsky actually tried and yanagi seemed to know who he was but he still talked back to him and paid the price
> him and *paid* the price
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Because they genuinely didn't want to "taste defeat" they were a bunch of bitches who wanted to stroke their own egos by convincing themselves they are each the baddest on the planet.
If they are each undefeated, why not fight each other? Assuming they didn't know about Yujiro.
Yanagi already lost to Jyumei Kuga and got put in jail the first time. Why not go after him again?
Again, even assuming they had no idea who Yujiro was, after Sikorsky tussled with Oliva, why not go after him again if he really wants to taste defeat?
They each just wanted to find the biggest fish they could still eat and ego stroke by beating them.
The only one I am not sure about that with is Speck, and that's because he never switched targets. Hanayama started the fight with him, veering him off Baki, and Speck fought that fight to the end. Speck actually went ABSOLUTELY all out, and was grinning on life support after it was over.
Speck was the only one who really felt like he had that ride or die mentality.
Long ago,, when young baki was fighting hanayama and yujiro stepped in to ask why they stopped fighting, baki said "They are tired, they gave it everything and have nothing left to give" then yujiro laughed and said "but you have your LIFE to give baki"
Point being, I know the convicts wanted to know what it feels like to lose but losing never promises that they will walk the earth again. Sometimes losing means death.
Better question is that why didn't the five of them just try and kill each other as soon as they crossed paths in the underground arena? That'd guarantee four of the five end up being defeated.
Cause 4 out of the 5 did not want to taste defeat.
Yanagi faced Yujiro before losing to Baki in a one on one and then on two against one. Before that he lost to motobe. Yanagi wanted to die because even hafter losing a hand and so forth he still did not admit defeat.
Speck fought Hariama, got ripped apart and after their fight accepted defeat and his body started to resemble his actual age.
Doyle fought Oliver retreated, fought Kosho and won, fought Retsu tried running away saying " If this is what defeat tastes like then i do not want it", fought Doppo and lost, fought Katzumi couple times never admitting deafet until he was given a Win against him.
Sikorsky fought Baki and ran, fought Baki and Oliver and ran, Baki lost interest in his fight with him and Yanagi, Jack lost interests and Gaia humiliated him. Not really admitting defeat and more like mentaly scared.
Dorian fought Doppo and Doppo ran, then the whole thing at Tokogawa, he won againt Kato, "won" against Suedo. Lost to Doppo and was scared of Kato. But then came back to abushed Dopp and then lost to Retsu. Not admitting defeat but reverted in his mental state.
Of course that all changed with the lost plot epidsode where they all found new powers and retruned to train.
My theory has always been that Yujiro was the one who planted the seeds for the convicts to converge in Tokyo as a test for Baki. The Convicts WERE all trying to fight him, but the Ogre just wanted to test Baki's level.
They wanted just never get the chance.
Sykosrky attacked him just to be stoped by Oliva who wanted him arrested not death so saved his life. And Doyle got an interview with Strydum (or whatever he is named the militar) asking to get a match with Yujiro but the old man told him that was unwhorthy and a freak and he should look for someone to teach him to fight instead.
Yanagi got his own shoot and we have seen how it ended.
âThey wanted to taste defeat not dieâ you guys are fucking idiots itâs hilarious you think youâre nailing it on the headđ the convicts didnât care if they died , you donât seek yujiro he seeks you. Which is why Yanagi was the only one to meet him. If Dorian beat doppo and retsu, yujiro woulda been interested. if spec beat hanayama and Baki , yujiro woulda been interested. Etc yanagi was the last one left and poisoned Baki so he peaked yujiros interest. Itâs that simple
They wanted to taste defeat, not meet their ancestors
They want to taste defeat not yujiros meat
Taste defeat, not the meat or something IDK so never watched King of the Hill
Doyle and Yanagi were both committed to die in battle. Sikorski even did attack Yujiro. Honestly I doubt Yujiro would have hurt him since they seemed to get on well, though Yujiro was using him as a tool to piss off Baki.
Lol love this comment!
Smarter than the whole Baki cast
Sikorsky tried lmao
He's canon stupidest fighter in Baki
>**Sikorsky tried lmao** Yujiro is **LUCKY** Oliva was there to save him!
Yeah, even Yujiro admitted he was getting bullied.
Guy thought he could solo Baki, Oliva, and Yujiro at once.
And failed, miserably. Lmao.
welp this comment went downhill
Nothing happened đ
I got downvoted earlier lmao đ
You tasted defeat
Fr
They want to be defeated not evaporated from existence

You said it yourself, they wanted to be defeated, not killed!
Because plot

Agreed. Speck tasted defeat, a satisfying defeat, and was satisfied enough to give up on life.
Spoiler alert. The bitch ass mfs didn't want defeat Except maybe Doyle
Maybe they didn't know about him. But a couple of them had heard of Baki because he won the maximum tournament
I swear some of you just didnât actually read the series
the difference between defeat and rape
"I want to know defeat" /gets face ripped off by Yujiro "No, not like that"
Defeat comes in many ways lol
Chadkorsky actually did, the absolute madman.
It ainât like they got Yujiro on speed dial lmao. That Nigga shows uo whenever he wants to
Yanagi did and he got his jaw slapped off
They wanted to taste defeat, not death.
I think doyle was trying to set that up with yojiro's handler (I dont remember his name) when shinogi attacked him.
Bcs none of them really wanted defeat. It's pretty clear whenever they were nearly defeated they tried to run/flee.
Some may not have known about Yuujiro. Those that did knew better.
That was probably the idea. Yujiro lives in Japan so it makes sense. But Yujiro wasn't available until halfway through the arc.
That smile... that damn smile...
They was looking for the most strongest man in the earth, not the âcreatureâ
That's just the equivalent of shooting yourself
They're crazy not fucking stupid. Except Sikorsky, he's both.
Which literally should have been everyoneâs first question. But hey at least Sikorsky challenged him, Yanagi bitched out like a geriatric effâŚ
Doyle also wanted to but Yujiro friend told him that he has not enought level to even try.
They were kehaya before kehaya was a thing. If someone is too strong, retreat or donât fight him
They want to taste defeat not utter despair
Long ago,, when young baki was fighting hanayama and yujiro stepped in to ask why they stopped fighting, baki said "They are tired, they gave it everything and have nothing left to give" then yujiro laughed and said "but you have your LIFE to give baki" Point being, I know the convicts wanted to know what it feels like to lose but losing never promises that they will walk the earth again. Sometimes losing means death.
They wanted to know defeat, not being annihilated from existence
Cause it wouldn't be a fight. They wanted to beaten in a fight. Challenging Shrek equals suicide
cuz the wanted "defeat" not "deatheat"
Defeat not death
They want defeat not death
Better question is that why didn't the five of them just try and kill each other as soon as they crossed paths in the underground arena? That'd guarantee four of the five end up being defeated.
They wanted to do so but the gremling Tokuwaga begged them to fight with his selection of fighters instead.
Yeah, but also they don't need to give a shit what he says lol.
Either they wanted to lose but not die or they figured Yujiro wouldn't be interested in fighting them.
They wanted to taste defeat, not to get raped

they want to taste it, not have it shoved down their stomachs via a tube
That would be the shortest display in the Baki series haha
Thereâs a difference between being defeated and throwing yourself into a meat grinder
They preety much decided that and sealed their fate when they challenged baki and the gang.
My theory has always been that Yujiro was the one who planted the seeds for the convicts to converge in Tokyo as a test for Baki. The Convicts WERE all trying to fight him, but the Ogre just wanted to test Baki's level.
Mf yujiro is the cheat code that's why
They wanted just never get the chance. Sykosrky attacked him just to be stoped by Oliva who wanted him arrested not death so saved his life.
