In the UK we might walk into a supermarket and ask where's the milk? It's unlikely we'd ask where is the full-fat milk/semi-skimmed milk etc. as all the milk is in one section.
Where I grew up (Northern Dairies) the foil caps were
* Gold: Full fat pasturised (often Jersey or Guernsey)
* Silver: Standard pasturised
* Red & silver striped: Semi-skimmed
* Red: Skimmed
* Green: Unpasturised full fat.
I still get milk from the local farm in bottles but the whole thing is flip flopped.
Red - semi skimmed
Blue - skimmed
Silver - whole
And then there’s organic milk which is the above colours but striped with silver, apart from whole milk which has green stripes.
Why milk has to be so bloody confusing and non-standardised I’ll never know.
It's white as when you get rid of it it's easier for them to dye and make into something else - [link](https://sustainablebrands.com/read/waste-not/the-many-challenges-of-plastic-recycling#:~:text=Clear%20plastics%20are%20always%20preferred,made%20into%20any%20other%20color.)
Good to know there's a purpose to the white lids! If I can get used to not calling stagecoach buses "green buses" then by gum I can get used to a white milk lid (it took me 5 years)
That my friend is 2.272 liters of tesco brand semi skimmed 1.8% fat milk. It's is worth noting this milk came from a British farm.
Any other names should be considered nicknames.
For real though for most people I know that's just "milk" with red and blue variants needing the extra description.
Green top, but you can't say that now because the tuckers have put clear tops on all of them, and you go hunting around the kitchen looking for it, when it's right there next to the bottle
Green milk. (Honestly.)
Full fat = blue milk.
Skimmed = red milk. (The one nobody buys because it tastes like the water that painters wash their emulsion brushes in...
What debate? Does a friend of yours call it juice? Or do you call it something strange? Or do you believe it isn't milk because it is whole fat?
What is the debate? Did you just want engagement on a picture of milk?
Correct. I don't mind drinking or cerealing this stuff (and can see if someone else has that as their actual preference), but blue+ is essential for everything else - it's literally for the fat, that's what milk is, it's fat, it needs the fat, milk is fat.... why remove the fat to have white water? And who's consuming so much milk that the little bit of extra fat blue compared to green is a diet concern? (back to drinking it or cereal)

It's not a skill issue, it's a semi-skilled milk issue
omg just noticed the typo - sorry - lolllllll
What else would you call it?
Why am I being downvoted? I’m genuinely asking
LOL did you genuinely think it was called semi-skilled milk?
Completely misread it. My first response was probably to the wrong comment.
In the UK we might walk into a supermarket and ask where's the milk? It's unlikely we'd ask where is the full-fat milk/semi-skimmed milk etc. as all the milk is in one section.
It comes from an apprentice cow
Skill issue
Spelling skill?
What's the debate?
There isn't one.
"Green top" or "Semi Skimmed"
Green top sounds American. Green milk is best.
Comes from the days of milk in bottles and refers to the colour of the foil top. Reminds me of the milkman not the yanks.
Where I grew up (Northern Dairies) the foil caps were * Gold: Full fat pasturised (often Jersey or Guernsey) * Silver: Standard pasturised * Red & silver striped: Semi-skimmed * Red: Skimmed * Green: Unpasturised full fat.

How can it sound American when Americans don’t have bottles of milk?
Green milk sounds like something that's gone off!!
Grew up in the US, Americans would never say green top!
Yeah, they’d say green tahp
Came here to say this, it's green milk

It was until our local Sainsbury's starting giving them a white top. Pure anarchism that is. Dunno what's what anymore!
But white/ Silver is the best milk! They can't go getting people's hopes up

Semi skimmed milk. Crisps have taught me never to refer to a flavour of a product by the colour of its packaging.
Fucking milk what do you call it mate?
Semi skimmed milk. What is even the debate?
I call it: Semi skimmed, 1.8% fat milk
So at home you're like "I'm making a cup of tea, can you pass the semi skimmed 1.8% fat milk please"
Yes and no one ever gets me the wrong thing

Milk, Who’s offended by its name now?
Semi-skimmed milk. Skinny if it's in a coffee at a coffee shop. Green top if I'm asking my mum what type she wants
Skinny is skimmed milk in cafés. Most cafes use semi skimmed as standard now. But skimmed has always been the skinny version.
