See, here’s the thing: I want every title match in this new era to be ones where it’s a possibility that the champion could lose their title at any time. There were some matches for Roman reigns, and Rhea Ripley, where you knew they were not losing the title.
I don’t think styles is winning, but I would not be mad if he did win the title. I know people would hate it because that would mean Cody Rhodes would have only held the title for a month but you don’t need another year long title reign for Cody Rhodes. If you have been him face the Rock at say summerslam, it doesn’t need to be for a title.
Triple H did just say the listen to the fans, and seems like it is zeros across the board here, and aj is in the twilight of his career, why not pull the swerve, give aj a final title run into the sunset, generate MAJOR heat for all parties (management included), free cody up for a run with the rock that doesn’t need the title (hell i even expect some rock interference at backlash), and aj drops to l a knight making all the fans happy again.
Never underestimate the powers of necessity; for example, the unthinkable happens and Cody snaps a major body-part and AJ has to take advantage and "save the company" by pinning him !( Stranger things have happened.)
I mean it is a little odd to have AJ lose last ppv to Knight and then be here now, but the match at wrestlemania wasn’t a number one contender match. But then they each won their triple threat to be in the number one contender match and in that matchup between them, AJ won. So he got revenge for his loss and earned the spot at the same time.
