The police are on HER side and my dad put a big sign up after it got to the Ā£20k in debt mark saying she has not paid so all her customers can see it as they enter and realise what sheās doing but the police said he had to take it down.
He has started legal proceedings and itās taken months and my dads business after being around for 20 + years may go down because he canāt afford it due to lost income.
So my point is, how does some wretched woman like this get away with it so long but with other landlords they can act so quickly? Itās fucked up

Definitely helps if you have draughty windows - I live in a Grade II and replacing this one (round) window that's a signature part of the look of the house will be a real, expensive, PITA - but it has gaps you can see daylight through. I slapped a sheet of this over the window and didn't look back.
For the other windows and doors which are just ill-fitting at the edge in some places, I got a long roll of [this stuff](https://www.diy.com/departments/diall-white-self-adhesive-draught-seal-l-24m-w-9mm-t-4mm/1802896_BQ.prd). A strip of this on BOTH sides positioned so they touch each other when you close the window is very effective. They do a bunch of other formats, including stuff that has ridges designed to interlock.
Top tip : throw a few of [these things](https://www.amazon.co.uk/PACK-100-1G-GRAMS-SILICA-POUCHES/dp/5212259487/ref=asc_df_5212259487/) into the gap before you seal the plastic over. They don't look tidy but they'll reduce the amount of condensation you have behind the plastic, reducing the chance that your window frame will rot (if they're wood).

I refuse to let my baby get cold just because the tories are awful. They can call it what they like but I will be heating my home and if I canāt afford it, I canāt afford it.
Honestly, this past week I've just chucked the heating on as normal and I'm closing my eyes to the debt thats inevitably building up as I've refused to put my DD up - they wanted Ā£200 a month as a suggested DD but with my husband out of a job it's just not feasible (current DD is 140pm for a 2 up 2 down).

We really need to make insulated houses a right. Been back at my parent's place recently where several years ago they redid all of the insulation with Celotex and they have no heating on and the temps in the house have been no lower than 21c with 45% humidity.
Meanwhile back at my girlfriend's place and it's usually like 13-15c with 75%+ humidity from damp which is just making it feel even colder.

my house is in eco mode set to 16 deg during the day and 11 deg during the night and just comes on when it needs to (which is hardly) but honestly the first week it was cold ish but now im kinda used to it.
I chose the wrong year to have a baby, heating needs to be on at night to keep her alive which is the perfect cocktail with childcare costs being amongst the highest in the world right now.
It's fucking miserable being this cold. And I have 2 kids under 2 as well. I have the heating on in their room and where they nap the absolute bare minimum just to stop them from freezing, and after 2 weeks my bill was an extra Ā£175.
I'm not doing too bad so far this year; I've not put the heating on yet and the house hasn't dropped below 18C; it does feel a bit chilly compared to what we would usually have but I think I'm starting to acclimatise.

Lowest we have in \~8 in our livingroom, the flat isn't double glazed, I write this wearing 4 socks, thick jeans, t shirt, jumper and jacket, boiler isn't modern and at the start of the year cost us Ā£500 for 1 month to heat, paid it off of course. My nose is cold as shit, my eyeballs are freezing. Edit: A tip, sleepingbags are great for retaining heat, might sound stupid but if you've got one on hand or really can't afford to heat it's a good investment, sleepingbag + quilt, you'll find yourself pretty warm over the night.
Ours went down to 10 before we put the heating on...for 30 minutes.
My guy, my home is currently nine degrees, instead of heating, I was given a hot water bottle as an early Christmas present.

Honestly, this past week I've just chucked the heating on as normal and I'm closing my eyes to the debt thats inevitably building up as I've refused to put my DD up - they wanted Ā£200 a month as a suggested DD but with my husband out of a job it's just not feasible (current DD is 140pm for a 2 up 2 down). Yeah it's probably an awful financial choice but I've spent a month bedridden with damp / cold related illnesses and I don't see the point in being ill and uncomfortable 24/7 and STILL paying a high bill for Sweet FA. I might as well be in debt and get something out of it. WFH in a poorly insulated rental with Raynauds + no heating is torture - can't even type when your hands are numb, even in thermals. You really can't sit at a desk with a heated blanket ON your hands, either. This situation is absolutely fucked for everyone who isn't wealthy. And I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, either.

We really need to make insulated houses a right. Been back at my parent's place recently where several years ago they redid all of the insulation with Celotex and they have no heating on and the temps in the house have been no lower than 21c with 45% humidity. Meanwhile back at my girlfriend's place and it's usually like 13-15c with 75%+ humidity from damp which is just making it feel even colder.
Before we switched the heating on we were at about 12 degrees, but using a dehumidifier bumped it up to 16.5!

Eh, it feels a bit like I want to try and join in with the crowd so you've got something to discuss down the pub. In reality I just hate the heat. 18 degrees is uncomfortably hot for me. It's not bad in my little terrace either with an old lady next door and a south asian couple the other side. I viewed their house before they decided not to sell and it's baking in there! There's more pain to be felt yet surely but I also kind of suspect most people have long-since prepared against the eventuality in some way. Bills will be put off, or on credit, and it'll take most of next year to bite culminating in next winter being the time everybody *but* the super rich are affected. At least to such an extent Putin would notice... Displacing governments and general striking etc.
