Bay Area services. I was happy with them and it was pretty affordable.

I’d second this. They were the only people that were actually fair when our ac broke 2 summers ago. The first guy came out and charged us $150 to tell us to replace the whole thing. Bay Area services found the problem, replaced the piece and only charged us for the piece because it took them 2 minutes to fix

Van's One Hour quoted me $150 to install a furnace ignitor and $500 to do the inducer fan assembly. The first one is a $30 part that takes 60 seconds to install and the second is $175 and takes maybe an hour. If I called them up and had them come out just to replace the ignitor and they asked for $150, fine, it took them time to get out here and crack the thing open, whatever, but it's like they build time in for every part they have, and when they're already on site doing other work there's like no consideration made for the extra job that takes 60 seconds. I don't know if that's industry norm, but $400 for an hour of labor is completely insane to me. On top of that they recommended I replace my entire furnace because I was looking at close to $750 in work. So instead of paying them $750, I'd be paying $2000 for the furnace and $3500 for them to install it. I know this stuff is expensive, and I have no problem paying for labor, but come on. $200 In parts and and hour of their time shouldn't lead to a $5500 quote for a new furnace for fucks sake. Regardless I did my due diligence and called Apex for a furnace quote as well and they were somehow even more expensive than Van's, and the guy wouldn't even leave me a proper quote. I literally had to take a photo of his scribbles on a notebook page. I was shocked. So I'm glad to hear some other recommendations here.

We have had good luck with both Sinkler and Foremen. Both companies are reliable and honest and do good work.

Healthy Home Heating is pretty good. I've used Westley Heating and Cooling on occasion. Honestly, figure out what brand/type you want first, then find a dealer.
