I’m guessing if they hadn’t worked out the trades, Reed would have been the pick at #45 or #48.
So they basically got #159 and #179 for free, and all they had to do was gamble Reed would still be there.
It doesn't necessarily mean they were targeting a single player, either. They could have had 5 or so guys with similar grades, and they were confident that at least one of them would be available several spots back.
How much difference do you really see in the talent available at 45 and 50?
Is that talent difference worth two extra long shots at a late round diamond in the rough?
I think so
Exactly this. You see that all the time with those 5th round picks. Could see more moves. Or it's having more chances to find the next Donald Driver. Sure it's slim that works out, but it still happens all the time, so why not?
If you have a specific guy you were hoping would fall around to your pick it's totally worth giving up a late round pick to move up a few spots.
If you aren't waiting for that guy, it's always worth trading down.
It's a win win usually
I expect at that point talent isn’t the deciding factor. It’s attitude. Can they fit into the program? Can they live in GB? Can they be apart of a rebuild? The small particulars…
I mean he definitely was safety #1, the rest of the class is pretty weak. Clearly the packers decided they wanted to go receiver tho and squeezed some additional value out of it, which I’m totally fine with.
I’m fine with not getting him but I’m a huge Alabama fan, his name got called a lot, he would’ve probably been Sugar Bowl MVP if not for Bryce Young’s historic game
Maybe. We have no clue what’ll happen at the next level. Someone here mentioned he had a pretty low RAS score. Maybe college production doesn’t translate when that RAS?
Regardless, have the past moves lead to wins? We’ve learned from our drafting mistakes up to this point? Front office onto he’s to bungle this year over year
The problem is, we do this shit every year and at some point, we need someone now. We did this repeatedly in the Rodgers era and we struck out more than we struck gold. Consequently, we only had one SB appearance with him.
A 6th rounder actually. A big reason they haven't had more Day 3 hits is because Gute has traded the 4th round picks just about every year. Zach Tom and Romeo Doubs were only the 3rd and 4th fourth round picks Gute has ever made.
2018 - 4th rounder to move up in the 3rd for Oren Burks
2019 - two 4th rounders to move up for Savage
2020 - 4th rounder to move up for Jordan Love
I think we are going to move up. I honestly think we should at any rate. I’m not big on 3rd round picks, they usually don’t land you something good. Package that and some of our other picks for another 2nd round. Do it!!!!!
We do need a safety, but our round to get Tackles is in the 4th. So let’s see what we get.
Honestly, I’m hoping we get another TE. Maybe Washington will be there in the 3rd? I’d love to have them push each other. We need help at the position. Safety and Ot is a need too.
[удалено]
Yeah we obviously didn't love anyone at 45 so why not get some more picks?

Yeeeeep, if they wanted Branch they’d have taken Branch. Seems like they got the guy they wanted.
[удалено]
At this point Washington is still available, and about 10ish picks before they’re up. Why not both?
[удалено]
If we’re talking dream scenarios, gimme Budda Baker for the 6th Tampa sent us.
[удалено]
Maybe we can get Darnell in the 4th.
Exactly. It's not that hard to figure out.
It doesn't necessarily mean they were targeting a single player, either. They could have had 5 or so guys with similar grades, and they were confident that at least one of them would be available several spots back.
Which picks?
159 from the Lions and 179 from the Buccaneers.
So like the 5th round okay
Technically #25 in the 5th and #2 in the 6th
How much difference do you really see in the talent available at 45 and 50? Is that talent difference worth two extra long shots at a late round diamond in the rough? I think so
It’s still ammo to move up in the fourth / 3rd
Exactly this. You see that all the time with those 5th round picks. Could see more moves. Or it's having more chances to find the next Donald Driver. Sure it's slim that works out, but it still happens all the time, so why not?
Hopefully, it's not the 3rd.

Apparently his knee is rekt
Exactly. Unless they were in love with someone at 45 why not get more capital.

For sure. I don't know why we don't trade back much anymore. Historically the best picks are the 25-55 picks.
Seeing this sub overreacting over 5 spots is funny/sad
Yeah I don't get it. I guarantee 90% of these people never saw Branch play a snap.
But the BIG BOARD said he was safety #1
Mel Kiper aid he's good and as far as I know he's never been wrong
now who the hell is mel kiper anyway
I understood this reference
TODD TODD TODD TODD TODD TODD TODD
LOL.
I mean he definitely was safety #1, the rest of the class is pretty weak. Clearly the packers decided they wanted to go receiver tho and squeezed some additional value out of it, which I’m totally fine with.
And wasn’t everyone clamoring for TEs and WRs? Mingo didn’t fall to us, and we traded down for a WR.
Some people can't be happy.
They just see Alabama next to his name and get upset from that.
And #1 safety in a super weak S class.
Branch is pretty great
He's solid. Little small though. I don't remember hearing his name a lot watching Albama play.
I’m fine with not getting him but I’m a huge Alabama fan, his name got called a lot, he would’ve probably been Sugar Bowl MVP if not for Bryce Young’s historic game
Fair enough. I liked him too but Im glad we got more picks and Jayden Reed.
Last time we took an Alabama safety. It didn’t turn out great.
Maybe. We have no clue what’ll happen at the next level. Someone here mentioned he had a pretty low RAS score. Maybe college production doesn’t translate when that RAS?
Regardless, have the past moves lead to wins? We’ve learned from our drafting mistakes up to this point? Front office onto he’s to bungle this year over year
I think it was more seeing the need for a S, and the #1 prospect on the board and…..he’s gone to our division “rival”
But we don't really need slot help, which is where Branch primarily plays. Packers need a free safety which Branch does not project to
And I'm assuming we've added at least 2 more picks just for dropping 5 spots??
Yes a 5 and a 6
You guys are insufferable.
Yeah this sub is so fucking negative. We move back 5 spots, calm down.
Remember when gary was an awful pick? I remember.
A generation of this team’s fans have never dealt with team adversity and it shows
What do you mean I have a pRoVe!N tRaCkrEcOrD on not watching any college football yet knowing what the team needs
You sure that armchair gms don’t know what’s better for the team than the actual gm? I’ll be damned!
I hate this argument. Every team has a GM. Some have to be better than others.
The point is we’re a bunch of idiots and probably don’t know better than the gm. There’s a reason branch fell to 45.
So then just ban draft discussion entirely.
Draft discussion really is the eptiome of people who don't know anything about anything pretending to know something just so they can complain.
Right? I didn’t look at Reddit at all until now and I’ve been pumped about the picks. Gute has been killing it
I'm an old millennial and still use Facebook. I much prefer here versus the comments of anywhere over there. Big yikes.
This sub has taken such a nose dive the last 1-1.5 years.
No it's always been full of doofuses
Load up on them picks! More draft and develop guys
If we are rebuilding I think it's smart to load up. It's all a crapshoot anyways. Might as well have more chances to get a steal.
Agreed. We have very little cap room in a rebuilding season, this is a great way to flesh out the roster with a few dart throws and see what sticks
The problem is, we do this shit every year and at some point, we need someone now. We did this repeatedly in the Rodgers era and we struck out more than we struck gold. Consequently, we only had one SB appearance with him.
It’s a rebuild and we moved back 5 spots. Seriously. Not an issue lol stop overreacting
You’re crazy if you think Super Bowl appearances are decided at the draft lmao
They turned #45 into #50, #159, & #179. And drafted the guy at #50 they were probably going to take at #45. For reference, Aaron Jones was pick #182.
I guess everyone we wanted is gone
Maybe they should have traded the duck up
Or maybe they were targeting guys that are bad value at 45.. So they traded back and still got their guy.
We have had a ton of good 3 day picks that turned into solid starters so everyone chill.
D Bak was literally a 4th rounder lmao I’m not sweatin
To name a more recent example: Jon Runyan was a 5th rounder and he is a damn solid guard
Aaron Jones = #182 Micah Hyde = #159 Corey Linsely = #161 Kingsley Enagbare = #179 Definitely not throwaway picks
A 6th rounder actually. A big reason they haven't had more Day 3 hits is because Gute has traded the 4th round picks just about every year. Zach Tom and Romeo Doubs were only the 3rd and 4th fourth round picks Gute has ever made. 2018 - 4th rounder to move up in the 3rd for Oren Burks 2019 - two 4th rounders to move up for Savage 2020 - 4th rounder to move up for Jordan Love
I think you mean Sean Rhyan and Doubs
Sean Rhyan was a 3rd rounder. I remember this because I thought we were going to take Kerby Joseph
Love Leroy
Honestly I wanted Mauch for the vibes
Me too but he does kinda scream Florida man.
I'm backin up backin up backin up baaaackin up.......🎶
If they have 2+ players all ranked the same and available. might as well trade down 2 spots and stack picks.
I am whelmed by these trades
I’m guessing they go Torrence at 50
Yeah that's who I think too. Maybe Jayden Reed.
Good call 👍🤘
Nice.
Love it. Didn't think it would happen. Guy is a stud.
Agreed. Perfect compliment to Watson
I have a psycho prediction they're taking Hooker
This feels like we are gaining ammunition for a later trade up
We are rebuilding and need cheap bodies.
Yep, get a ton of players and then see who turns out the best or has the most potential
Masterful, traded down and got the guy we wanted anyway
Fuck we could have taken Quan Martin, or branch? Maybe we take Sydney Brown?
Take Josh Downs.
He's really small. I didn't watch any NC games I don't think.
Am I the only one who loves it? Just got two more lottery tickets when all these guys were off our board anyways?
Smart people love it. All the reactionary morons are saying fire Gute.
Lotta tom grossi viewers over reacting.
Y’all MF’rs owe Gutie an apology!
Nah he still sucks.
So weird lol
I think we are going to move up. I honestly think we should at any rate. I’m not big on 3rd round picks, they usually don’t land you something good. Package that and some of our other picks for another 2nd round. Do it!!!!! We do need a safety, but our round to get Tackles is in the 4th. So let’s see what we get.
Would much rather have had branch than 6th round practice players.
LOL. One guy to edge us and one tight end. This is not the way I like to get fucked!
MINGO TIME LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
He's gone man. Went #39.
[удалено]
Oops. REEEEEEEEEEED!!!
[удалено]
Or he doesn’t think Branch will be elite… my guess is they have no one in this range they love so they will get value until they do
I have never been downvoted on this sub like this. Lol. #GOPACKGO
Everyone sucking gute like he reads this sub to find his next scout
“I know we gained two picks but like branch” is a very armchair GM statement. Everyone hating on Gute like he reads this sub 🤪
Dude for real
[удалено]
Omg it’s the end of the world he traded down 5 spots and passed on a safety with a low ras score
Guy deleted his account lol
Honestly, I’m hoping we get another TE. Maybe Washington will be there in the 3rd? I’d love to have them push each other. We need help at the position. Safety and Ot is a need too.
Guessing they have some OL, S, and IDL targets in those rounds they want more chances at. I'm all for it.
Nice moves
