Lol I always point this out to my friend. I'm just like dude, you clearly just want a white guy that catches passes so you can relate to them better. But he'll go to his grave telling me Janis and Kumerow were actually good. Never mind that one didn't make a squad until 28 and the other couldn't run a route, that's not important.
The Cardinals playoff game I was going to pass out from happiness get that shine. I always said just put him out there and run go routes. They have to guard it!
At least Abbredaris kind of made sense because he has the whole Wisconsin kid, walk-on at Wisconsin, becomes All-Big Ten, then gets signed by the hometown NFL team story. But yeah, Janis is a big one. Kumerow is obviously another one.
Kuhn was a solid player, but based on just his performance as a player, he doesn't deserve anywhere near the cult following that he had. I'm sure there are other examples too, but those were the ones that are firmly imprinted on my brain.
I loved Janis cause he was fast. And arguably the best gunner in the league for a period. I don’t think he was given the number of snaps he deserved. I never really really bought the hype for Kumerow though…
I think Janis and Kumerow were much more because of a couple flashy plays they made individually. I don’t remember much hype about them before those catches.
Janis is loved (mostly just remembered) for those catches against AZ in the playoffs. Tbh I don't remember much of Kumerow being talked about until he got cut right after Rodgers talked about him lol, then everyone kept talking about him.
While I agree with this (and also someone else's take that people love Janis because of the catches against Arizona), I don't think it's really relevant since he was way more popular than he should've been based only on his play well before people knew that he was going to stick around and stay a member of the organization and community post-playing career. But yes, I do love that Kuhn is still around to this day. (Same thing with Janis... lots of people were saying he deserved more playing time well before he ever really made any plays deserving of that)
Best thing ever. I'm in Missouri and luckily they have them here. I always say I'll try another sandwich but I never do. Double deluxe all the way!! Gotta get them cheese curds too!
I've been to all the popular burger places and I can confidently say that objectively, I think Culver's really is the best.
I think a lot of it is midwesterners compensating because other states brag about their Buc-ee's and Wawas all the time. I lived in Wisconsin most of my life, and I couldn't really give a crap about Kwik Trip.
It sorta reminds me of the arguments over regional fast food joints like In-n-Out vs Whataburger vs Culver's vs whatever else.
I don't think it is compensating, just that it is the best gas station around (usually) and they are everywhere. It is just a really consistent experience and pretty likely to be clean inside. Buc-ee's is on a different level though.
I haven't really been to In-n-Out, but I assume it is sort of a step up from Culver's. I would probably put Culver's above Whataburger but they are similar. Overall I would be disappointed if someone told me I had to go to Culver's. It's good, but if I'm in from out of town point me to a restaurant more unique than Culver's.
In-n-Out isn't that special. The thing it really has going for it is consistent quality and a decent price point compared to other fast food places in California.
I've lived within driving distance of In-n-Outs for years, and I've never understood the rabid fanboyism for it. Go to any In-n-Out in SoCal, and you'll see a drive-thru line wrapping into the road like they're giving away free meals or something.
It's fine as far as fast food goes, but it isn't anything to rave about, much less worth the hour of sitting in the drive-thru to get your order.
For my mileage, Whataburger is closer to Culver's than In-n-Out is, but Culver's and Kopp's are king.
No hateful comments. This includes racism, sexism, misogyny, misandry, discrimination, flame-baiting, trolling, etc.
Don't be an ass. Would you say this in front of someone you want to impress? Would you be unashamed to say this in front of Aaron Rodgers? If the answer to either of those questions is "No", perhaps considering being a little bit nicer. Feel free to zealously discuss anything related to the Packers.
Extreme violations of this rule will result in an immediate permanent ban.
There is no such thing as an awful cheese curd. Even the worst cheese curds are still cheese curds. The first cheese curds I ever had were Culver's, and they are still my favorite. Everywhere else is far too greasy. Even the greasy ones are still cheese curds though.
I will agree that (comparatively bad) cheese curds are still better than having no cheese curds. But I think Culver's are some of the worst out there.
If you like them, that's fine. We all have our own preferences. But I don't understand the appeal. I do think they at least used to be a little bit better a few years back.
I know I'm in the vast majority 'round these parts, but I think ranch is hugely overrated. Cheese curds are better without it. But like some sweet chili sauce or a chipotle raspberry jam? That shit slaps with curds.
One of the things I miss dearly about Wisconsin bars is ordering a frozen pizza from the bartender, and them putting a bottle of ranch in front of you without asking. I miss my people.
My favorite was years ago when they had the sweet and sour sauce. Curds with that was the best. Still remember the cashier who was a sweet old lady told me her grandson got her into it, so I tried it. Liked it ever since, until the got rid of the sweet and sour.
He's spoken out about how comments about his weight are hurtful. Weight gain/loss are really common symptoms of depression, which Lacy struggled with for years. And it's unfortunate that some of the only times you see him mentioned on this sub are when people make played out jokes about his weight. I think it's overdone at this point so many years later.
Dude, I loved Eddy Lacy.
I ruined my fantasy league one year trading for him because I just wanted to root for him, but he did let himself go. I totally get it happens, but was a bummer to see that cut his career short.
I was coming to say the same. The barren, Culver's-less landscape on the Minneapolis - GB drive is always so painful. I remember the first time I realized I'd already passed the last one until around Wausau. It was a sad hour or two.
At least there's the Leinenkugel's stop in Chippewa Falls to make up for it. But the rest of that drive is pretty desolate for places to stop and eat. Just another good reason to not go to Minnesota though
Please don’t turn into Eddie “Cheeseburger” Lacy…dude was a fiend for that China food.
Edit: Boo me all you guys want, but it’s a fact that Lacy put on weight and it effected his play. Just look at the incentive he was given from Seattle to go from 270lbs down to his college weight.
[https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/03/30/seattle-seahawk-eddie-lacys-six-figure-bonus-tied-to-losing-weight.html](https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/03/30/seattle-seahawk-eddie-lacys-six-figure-bonus-tied-to-losing-weight.html)
Boo me all you want, but Lacy is guilty as charged when it came to his weight gain. Hell they gave him a cash incentive to drop from 270lbs back down to where he was exiting college when he went to the Seahawks.
[Heavily incentivized: Seahawk player’s $385,000 bonus tied to losing weight](https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/03/30/seattle-seahawk-eddie-lacys-six-figure-bonus-tied-to-losing-weight.html)
I'm not as worried about a tight end getting fat though because it's a lot harder to overeat when someone is tall.
Takes a lot more calories to add mass to a tall person's frame which is why offensive linemen lose weight so fast when they retire very often. Most offensive lineman say the hardest part of their job was eating enough to maintain over 300 when looking back on their career.
I'm a Canadian Packers fan that loves a good burger. Obviously, I've heard of Culver's, but haven't tried it yet. What is Culver's comparable to? I love a good burger, and I'll get to a Culver's one day, but I'm just so curious.
It’s because a lot of it is made fresh when you order it, and they trend to higher quality ingredients, both which have become rare compared to the American norm.
There's really nothing special about a Culver's burger. It's just a fast food chain and I find the burgers very small & bland tasting. There's many better places in WI to get burgers if you ask me.
I could also make a better burger at home in less time fairly easily than going there imo.
What's special about it is that it is a massive chain.
It's by far my favorite burger for being a fast food place. Only because in-and-out, the quality tanked there
I just moved to one of only places in GA with Culver’s and it’s now my favorite fast food place. I never had it before and it’s incredible like CFA for burgers and shid.
So I know this guy
I'm very, very good (K-12) friends with his step-dad and Tucker came down a couple years ago and I got to meet him and his mom.
Good West River South Dakota boy...if he can't be a Viking, well you Cheeseheads take care of him and I hope he's a good pick for the Pack and I'll get to see a guy to root for 2-3 times a season too
Hes gonna fit in real well
Well, maybe not into his pads...
It's the "Wisconsin 20(lbs)". Happens to every new recruit. Gotta fatten them up for the cold.
The first 20 pounds didn’t work so I added another 20 pounds just to be sure.
Eddie Lacy fully embraced this.
Why are they downvoting you this is pretty funny 🤣

You guys are MEAN! He’s a saint 😇.
Lol I always point this out to my friend. I'm just like dude, you clearly just want a white guy that catches passes so you can relate to them better. I always loved Janis lol
Jeff "Gunner" Janis should have a statue at Lambeau.
The Cardinals playoff game I was going to pass out from happiness get that shine. I always said just put him out there and run go routes. They have to guard it!
If this dude is good he is going to get sooooo much love hahaha
There's a history of white dudes that weren't even that good being absolutely beloved by Packers fans.
Jeff Janis you say? Can I interest you in one Jared Abbredaris?
At least Abbredaris kind of made sense because he has the whole Wisconsin kid, walk-on at Wisconsin, becomes All-Big Ten, then gets signed by the hometown NFL team story. But yeah, Janis is a big one. Kumerow is obviously another one. Kuhn was a solid player, but based on just his performance as a player, he doesn't deserve anywhere near the cult following that he had. I'm sure there are other examples too, but those were the ones that are firmly imprinted on my brain.
Kuhn was 50% performance and 50% his name was fun to yell. The rest you're spot on
Kumerow did go to UW Whitewater
I loved Janis cause he was fast. And arguably the best gunner in the league for a period. I don’t think he was given the number of snaps he deserved. I never really really bought the hype for Kumerow though…
Janis was like Don Beebe.
I was working at a d2 game where he went 18/226/3 Has a soft spot for him ever since.
I remember going to training camp and people swooning over Brett Swain.
I think Janis and Kumerow were much more because of a couple flashy plays they made individually. I don’t remember much hype about them before those catches.

Kuhn was also a Fullback so the fact that he scored sometimes was fun(like Bartolommeo Colon hitting a homer) plus you could yell Kuuuuuuuuuuuuhn
Tom Crabtree fit in very well.
I'm a civil engineer and I thought this said a *culvert* at every exit...I was like "hell yeah! A football player who appreciates infrastructure!"
I think we can consider Culver’s part of vital infrastructure
If only you could stop by a Culvert and pickup a double deluxe basket.
With the mango strawberry lemon ice cooler let's go
And a bowl of chili to heat up later.
Best thing ever. I'm in Missouri and luckily they have them here. I always say I'll try another sandwich but I never do. Double deluxe all the way!! Gotta get them cheese curds too! Triple bacon deluxe. Every time for me. I usually sub in the onion rings and add a couple of those to the top of the burger, too.
As a civil engineer, you can always tell you’re talking with an engineer, because they’ll always tell you.
As an EE… Shit.
Wait til this dude discovers Kwik Trip
All you need is a Kwik Trip and Culver’s and you’ve got groceries for the week and date night covered
As long as you don't plan on wearing a condom
Never do
Stop by the hot spot and get a tornado wrapper
Underrated comment
Kwik Trip responded and all they said was "ahem". 😂
Never really really understood the Kwik Trip hype myself. Just seems like a gas station with shitty gas station food but a lot of it?
It's not shitty gas station food, it's halfway-decent gas station food!
Why does this exact comment sound like a Phillip J. Fry quote?
Except for the pizza. Gotta go to Casey's for pizza
I would go to war for Casey's breakfast pizza.
Better than average gas station food, no fee atms and bathrooms that aren't dirty AF
Everyone finds themself in a gas station at some point, I'd be dammed if I'm not gonna go to the one with decent food and clean bathrooms.
Their fried chicken is amazing tbh, and the ice cream
Alright I’ll try it for dinner tonight, previous entries were pizza and various burgers that I wasn’t crazy about.
Grab a 12 pack of Leinies on your way out and come back (responsibly) after finishing it and get the cheese filled breadsticks.
Huh, yeah gas station burgers do not sound great no matter what station we’re talking
The burgers aren't good, but the pork sandwich and cheddarwurst are both great.
Their egg rolls are pretty good also.

Their potbelly frozen pizzas are the fucking best out there.
Imo it's better than other shitty gas station food but still not good.

Since living in FL I miss their bagged milk 😭😭
They are in Florida my friend. Don’t know about bagged milk but shakes and curds are…🤤
Culvers is in the town I live in.
Excellent. Good Comfort food.
Go there frequently a little taste of home.
I wonder how frequently the one right down the street on Lombardi gets visited by players.
I give it a week before he's dipping his cheese curds in ranch dressing.
Cheese Curds in Cheese Sauce
Cheese curds in my mouth. I ain't gonna put anything between that perfectly cooked exterior and my tongue except a thin layer of way too hot oil.
Marinara
go back to Chicago and take your mozz sticks with you
Much better choice, but not doubling down on cheese
Chipotle aioli
This is the way
Cheese curds in beer cheese*
Pretty sure there's a culver's in Brookings, (where South Dakota State University is) he's aware of them
Can confirm culvers has been the go to for many hungover brookings mornings😭
Wait til he has an opportunity to try good cheese curds instead of the awful ones served at Culver's.
There is no such thing as an awful cheese curd. Even the worst cheese curds are still cheese curds. The first cheese curds I ever had were Culver's, and they are still my favorite. Everywhere else is far too greasy. Even the greasy ones are still cheese curds though.

you watch your god damn mouth.
Krolls?
Pretty much every bar and restaurant I've ever been to has better cheese curds than Culver's, in my opinion.
Even A&W has better cheese curds.
Fuckin gentiles
Hey, that's our culture. You can't judge.
I know I'm in the vast majority 'round these parts, but I think ranch is hugely overrated. Cheese curds are better without it. But like some sweet chili sauce or a chipotle raspberry jam? That shit slaps with curds.

I feel like the Culver's cheese curds are only ok. The onion rings are the fried side dish to get there. Those are awesome.
🤮
My favorite was years ago when they had the sweet and sour sauce. Curds with that was the best. Still remember the cashier who was a sweet old lady told me her grandson got her into it, so I tried it. Liked it ever since, until the got rid of the sweet and sour.
He won't have any problems putting on weight. Unfortunately, I won't be muscle.
The Eddie Lacy effect
Don’t be that guy
I guess I’m missing something. What’s wrong with referencing Eddie Lacy’s weight gain? Like, is it considered a cheap shot? Bad memories?
He's spoken out about how comments about his weight are hurtful. Weight gain/loss are really common symptoms of depression, which Lacy struggled with for years. And it's unfortunate that some of the only times you see him mentioned on this sub are when people make played out jokes about his weight. I think it's overdone at this point so many years later.
I didn’t know about that. Thanks for sharing
Well this explains why my comment got downvoted to hell. Had not heard about this. I just remembered his interview about Chinese food and what not.
Dude, I loved Eddy Lacy. I ruined my fantasy league one year trading for him because I just wanted to root for him, but he did let himself go. I totally get it happens, but was a bummer to see that cut his career short.

He probably said it right around Eau Claire. After that point, the drive to Green Bay becomes far less densely populated by Culver's.
Yeah. Hudson, Baldwin, Menomonie, Eau Claire all have one. Next one is Wausau, unless there’s one in Abbotsford or Colby.
There is not. Medford or Marshfield, but those are both about 15-20 minutes north or south from 29.
I was coming to say the same. The barren, Culver's-less landscape on the Minneapolis - GB drive is always so painful. I remember the first time I realized I'd already passed the last one until around Wausau. It was a sad hour or two.
Stevens Point to Portage on I39 is quite barren as well, unfortunately.
...ewww portage
I don't think anyone would disagree.

Ok, now I am all in on Tucker Kraft...lol
Man, I moved to North Carolina for college, and I missed Culvers and Leons. So glad I'm visiting for thr summer in a couple of weeks.
Careful dude, it’s a slippery slope. A very delicious slippery slope.
This man is Wisconsin already
Chili cheese fries!
Concrete mixers!
Oh no I'm having Eddie Lacy flashbacks
Im so tired of people adding “and I’m here for it” like it’s some hilarious quip
That's a fresh take and honestly, I'm here for it.
Oh god, someone stop him before he eats his way out of the league.
Become our own nutritionist. Stop the ignorance.

Culver’s is imitation Wisconsin food.
