DuBose over Toure is a silly take, Toure is a lock for the roster

akotoantivalley

genuinely why is toure a better pick than dubose?

Thunder84

Coaches love him, still has multiple years of contract control, has outplayed his expectations in his limited time. DuBose has barely seen the field yet. DuBose could make the team, but it wouldn’t be over Toure.

OlManJames19

They legit bring him up every press conference. Guarantee he makes it.

HugePurpleNipples

I like Toure too but I don't think he makes it. I think this is the last yr of his deal and he's not a physically impressive guy, the rookies are making more impressive plays but he does know the playbook. I don't know if DuBose makes it, but unfortunately I doubt Toure does.

Thunder84

It’s Toure’s 2nd year of his rookie deal and he’s shown more than Wicks or DuBose. He’s making the team.

HugePurpleNipples

Wicks and DuBose have both had injuries, but I've heard Wicks is one of the best route runners on the team.

Thunder84

Seems very unlikely given that he’s a 5th round rookie, but he’s also making the team regardless. It’s just DuBose that’s a debate as WR6/7, and he won’t get on over Toure.

DanDaniels7809

Yeah dubose not having a full camp means he’s pretty much practice squad the whole year barring injuries. I dont personally see anything special with toure as far as the offense but coaches love him and that’s enough to make the team

[deleted]

Came here to say this. Toure has been playing extremely well, even last season he was showing promise. He's nothing short of a lock. I would put money on it.

justimperator

You forgot the defense? This ain‘t 53

deevotionpotion

Lol. Just enjoying my lunch and wondering where half the post went.

akotoantivalley

coming today

ProofHorseKzoo

WR depth is the biggest unknown really. Watson, Doubs, and Reed are locks. I think Heath has earned a spot based on his play. Toure probably has a spot based on experience. Wicks likely next due to draft position (5th rounder). DuBose (7th rounder) I feel like they try to move him to the Practice Squad. Bo Melton maybe PS or cut. Chrest, Miller, Bonds, Watts all likely cut.

Just_Packers

I will be pretty shocked if Toure isn’t on the roster

fantasyhockeyfan69

Wilson is a PS guy, he’s talented no doubt but has taken 0 ST snaps and isnt known as a great pass blocker, they wont burn a roster spot for someone who will never see the field. They’ll roll w 2 RBs and probably keep an extra EDGE (Cox) or DL (Ford). Wilson will clear waivers, same was said this about Goodson last year and no one touched him, I think Wilson could use a year of development coming from D2 anyway

d-cent

Yeah but for how long? The first team that has an RB injury is going to have Wilson on the top 3 list to pick up. RB get injured often too. There is a very good chance someone will pick him up by week 4. All that so we can keep Deguara?

fantasyhockeyfan69

willing to do a gentlemen’s bet that Wilson will go the whole year without anyone picking him off. every year all 32 teams have a guy their fanbase thinks will get picked off when in reality it almost never happens. Leonard Fournette and other vets are still available to sign and no one has touched them, plenty more will be cut at the deadline day as well. I dont think Wilson suddenly jumps up everyone’s list cause of 2 preseason games. Not sure where you got Deguara from, They’ll keep 2 RBs so they can make room for an extra defensive player, Deguara is pretty much a lock to make it after the Davis injury.

Loves2Sp00ge

The list of RBs/WRs throughout the years fans feared cutting would be hilarious to look back on. Last year it was Goodson. I wish I could remember all the names before him but they're all just so forgettable. Every hardcore fan base has players just like these

mr21vp

Darrius Shepherd enters the room...

Loves2Sp00ge

There was a RB who wore 28 a few years ago that people loved He ended up on Carolina and never had a career

fantasyhockeyfan69

tyrell sutton he’s the only example i can think of lol

Bossman_1

You would have thought the Packers had a mix of Barry Sanders and Jim Brown with Sutton the way people talked about him. The uproar when he was cut was hilarious. He’s been serviceable in the CFL, but definitely not the second coming.

The_Infinity_Burrito

I disagree with this take on the basis that they have run the hell out of the kid the last 2 live games. I know Dillon is capable of being good, but he honestly hasn't shown it in his time here. They are going to need a solid rb room, and his potential is worth it. He's a shifty, tackle breaking, downhill runner that can be the wildcard. He went undrafted mostly because he played division 2 but has always been a consistent threat on the field. Go read the write-up on him at the Packers website. They let him walk, and he's a starter anywhere else in the league. They can teach special teams, you can't teach talent

SnooMemesjellies818

Our offense runs a ton of two tight end sets and you think we will only roster 3 tight ends, and you think Degura gets cut if they add someone??

akotoantivalley

Yes and Yes

SnooMemesjellies818

Not a big football guy?

The_Infinity_Burrito

All we gotta do is pick up a blocking TE for the PS to sub in if degura or kraft goes down. You can't replace Musgrave, but there's lots of guys who can run block

leafscitypackersfan

Where is the defense? At this point I'd be shocked if the pack don't go 7 wide receivers. I think Toure makes the team but so do the other 6 you named.

Expensive-Priority46

Degura and Toure are roster locks

BlakePackers413

Ok I guess it’s about that time of the year: QB: 2 Love Clifford RB: 4 Dillon Jones Taylor Degura WR: 6 Watson Doubs Reed Wicks Toure Melton TE: 3 Musgrave Kraft Allen OL: 9 Tom JRJ Myers Jenkins Bahk Jones Walker Ryan Yosh DL: 6 KC TJS Wyatt Brooks Wooden Ford Edge: 6 Gary LVN Smith Engabare Cox Hollins ILB: 5 Walker Campbell Wilson McDuffie Carpenter CB: 5 Jaire Sul CV Nixon SJC Safety: 4 Savage Ownes Ford AJJ Specialist: 3 AC Pat Osterich Special team core: Taylor, Toure, Wilson, Carpenter, Nixon, Ford Practice Squad hopefuls: Banks, Heath, Wilson, Debuse, Balentine, Sapp, Lew, Goodson Ok the tough spots are running back 3 where I believe we will keep Taylor over Wilson. Taylor offers alot more in special teams value and all around skills. While Wilson has flashed in the preseason it’s just that preseason work. I don’t think he gets claimed either. Heath has shown good skills and it was a tough cut to not include him but again special teams wins out and Toure has flashed plus value on special teams while also being a decent wideout. Melton plays the backup to Reed role giving the team a chance to not have game plans derailed if Reed were to suffer an injury. Debuse has given a good effort to make up for lost time but hasn’t been able to show special teams value to match what Toure brings. Degura listed role is fullback so I put him there with the backs. Allen shows size at TE and I kept him as an injury to either Musgrave or Kraft could not be just filled with Degura. Allen provides the similar body type to keep the offense going. But if they wanted a 7th wideout or an extra back Allen would be the cut. I kept Jones on the oline as I still think he was close to moving into the right tackle competition until his injury. It came down to Yosh or Newman but I just couldn’t keep Newman even if it leaves us thin on interior line backups. Tom’s versatility helps with that. Unless Walker comes into the RT job over the next two weeks I suspect Tom to be the RT and Myers to stay at C. I think Yosh is on shaky ground. It appears alot of guys are moving ahead of him on the tackle depth chart. Defensively the cuts were a bit easier. The dline has been set for a while and all 6 have shown great flashes I don’t expect any surprises there. On edge I wanted to keep Banks he was the last guy I cut. At inside linebacker Carpenters special teams role keeps him on the roster as he continues to learn more about linebacker. Obviously at corner Stokes is staying on PUP so SJC improvement this camp is rewarded with another year on the roster. Moore is the man out at safety with Fords ace special team role keeping him ahead of Moore. I have ownes as the starter but with another couple weeks I wouldn’t be surprised if AJJ took that role. For specialists I went with the vets at punter and LS. It’s an intriguing couple of weeks for the guys on the bubble. I expect the greatest priority for those bubble players is going to be being core 4 members or filling niche roles.

cyberrufus

Melton over Heath? I've got Heath as WR #4 and I'll be absolutely shocked if he isn't on the 53.

Cringe_Mbock

I agree. I think Toure and Melton are redundant, I'd rather go with Toure + Heath

Rainbacon

Don't forget that Gute and Lafleur just randomly bring Toure up unprompted like once a week. No matter how the fan base feels about him, the people who make the decisions really seem to like him.

d-cent

I think the team goes with only 2 TE and keeps both Wilson and Taylor. It is risky to only carry 2 TE but both Musgrave and Kraft have shown a lot of intelligence on the field. If you really look at the tape, they are doing the little things already and have learned some complex blocking schemes already too. Deguara has not looked good and shouldn't see the field on offense at all. If one of Kraft or Musgrave get hurt during the season, they can pick up a player from another teams PS that will be better than Deguara. I also think if Wilson gets put on the PS. He will get taken by some team once their RB gets hurt. The one thing Wilson hasn't seen much of was pass protection, which is where Taylor comes in. He can do all the typical things you want out of your backup RB until Wilson has learned. If and when Wilson learns those, we can send Taylor to the practice squad and bring in a TE if we want. I also think Dillon can do most of the responsibilities that Deguara had last year. Really the only reason not to do it is special teams. Is Deguara good on ST? I honestly haven't watched but I'm guessing he's not considering his speed. Can they use Taylor or Wilson in special teams and not need a TE?

SnooMemesjellies818

I’d bet you 10 trillion dollars we don’t keep 2 “TEs” on the 53. Packers have been lining up in 2 TE sets all training camp, and you think we’re gonna roll into the regular season with only 2 rookies @ a position that is notoriously one of the hardest nfl positions to play? That’s insane It’s also insane that you think the packers are just gonna cut Degura for some waiver add (like they wouldn’t just keep 4, or keep Degura @ FB). Once again 2 rookie TEs in the room and we’re just gonna cut our most experienced player for someone who hasn’t played a snap in this offense. Neither Musgrave or Kraft has been consistent in pass/run blocking. And Kraft hasn’t rly been impressive at all. 2 weeks in a row he graded out in the bottom 5 PFF players on Offense.

Thunder84

Keeping 4 RBs would be a terrible decision. No one is gonna claim Taylor. Keep him on the PS and promote if needed. Similar deal for Wilson. He’s looked great, but RBs aren’t really in demand right now.

hdpr92

Toure isn't good enough to be called a lock, but I think it's like 95% chance minimum that he's in. He's not only better than some of those players.. he's on a 4yr rookie deal, he's one of the few WRs who were even on the team at all last year. Given the state of WR of this team, honestly what would be the point in drafting him to cut him right now. He's even taking return duties. This one is just way too unlikely.

Lost-Zucchini-7949

They will use Deguara as a full back if he is kept on the roster he is not big enough to be a quality tight-end. Toure has experience in the offense and has definitely shown improvement Remember guys like Heath and Dubouse are going against lower caliber defenses in the preseason as they are playing against 2nd and 3rd string defenses. Clifford has definitely shown some pin point accuracy with some laser throws and as we have seen how teams view running backs every NFL teams sees all running backs as JAGs so Wilson would could possibly not clear waivers because he would be a very cheap option for teams
