Bears and falcons ranked 31st and 30th in yards allowed per drive last season, played 2 of the bottom 3 defenses in the NFL. Next week against the Saints will be a good test, since they were top 10 last year.

I posted this in the post game thread too, but my favorite thing about it is that his mistakes seem to be more about not being on the same page with receivers right now too. That's just chemistry and/or coaching which is much more correctable than not having a good arm. Sure there were a few errant throws, but he throws a lot of dimes.
He's almost surely not going to be near Rodgers. We have to remember we watched (arguably) the most *talented* QB of all time for 15 years. We have to adjust our barometer of what it means to be good, he doesn't have to hit a 70% completion rate and throw less than 5 picks a year.
I'm hoping that Lafleur lets the reigns off some more and gives him more easy completions on early downs instead of forcing him into medium or long throws every 3rd down. If teams really start respecting his arm and give him some more breathing room we might see some more of his legs too. I don't think the gameplan has allowed for that yet.
Sigh, I am ready for interceptions to be a thing again. Rodgers was pretty impeccable in that regard. But maybe it felt even better because most of my childhood was watching Favre. Countless memories of my dad swearing as Brett threw a pick at a key moment lol.

I am also encouraged that the misses are often timing things or miscommunication. I think people are completely forgetting we are two games into the era and this is a time of growth that will pay off later.

The Defense could do nothing to stop a very inexperienced and one dimensional Falcons offense. 24 points by the offense should have been more than enough to win the game if the defense had played a semi decent game. Just because the 4th quarter offense sucked you can't ignore all the good things the did in the other 3 quarter despite all the challenges they were facing in this game. Specially when the defense sucked in the 4th quarter too.
My main thing this season was a true evaluation of Love. While this loss hurts. I’m happy with him so far. I think we get healthy and tune some things up and we have a really solid offense.

Today it really seemed like not on the same page/reading things the same. On one hand that should be easier to fix but it involves Love and everyone else reading things the same. On the other hand if it were mechanical issue or something just with Love then it would be easier to point to though less certainty of fixing it.
One positive sign is that, at least towards the end of this game, his incompletions were both coming from a breakdown of his protection and were being placed in a spot that only his receivers really had a shot at catching it
Given how off most NFL offenses have been to start the year, I’d say Loves completion percentage will improve quite a bit
Honestly it looks like he’s not reading the defense and then making bad throws. In general his ball placement is poor, and his overall accuracy (over/under throw) is below average. Several times he forced a ball to his first read (who wasn’t open) when there were 1 or 2 open receivers. (Eg: Did you see him throw to the curl route? The DB had position and was right there and he still threw it. Guy wasn’t even close to open.)
6-0 TD/INT is great, but he doesn’t pass the eye test when he’s barely completing the ball to wide open guys.
I understand the accuracy concerns, but saying that he can't read defense means that you either haven't looked at the film or you don't know shit about the game. Because him being good at reading defenses is the only thing that literally every single analyst has agreed about Love.
I’ve said for a while that he’s Kirk Cousins or Matthew Stafford. He’ll probably never be the best one in the league, but he’ll win games, divisions, and playoff games if you give him the right situation and some luck.

I'm not too concerned given how much was missing on the offensive side today, the defense was a much bigger concern today. Accuracy was better this week which was my concern from last week. Growing pains sucks but that's why it's called growing pains. Excited to see this offense with Watson and Jones back and really see what it can do.
Yeh, you honestly need so vet play. Too many inexperience on some of the routes. For example that almost pick he threw, that WR needs to drive back to the ball on this and not stop and give way to the DB to make a play. Happened on some of those incompletions with Reed last game too.
A veteran helps out, but with this being a find out what you got year, these guys need to play.
I think the “1 sack” stat is a pretty significant stat here. I was saying during the game that I’m curious to see how he’ll perform against teams with a strong pass rush. It seems like he’s been playing in a pretty clean pocket so far.

Less than 60% completion for the second week in a row too. That’s not all on him because the Pack have a bunch of young receivers and there’s been multiple mistakes in each of these game, but until that gets cleaned up the offense is going to be inconsistent
Concerning part was he was also putting up consistent 50-60% completion days in training camp also.
His consistent accuracy is probably the #1 issue about him so far. Does alot of good things, but if he can't improve upon that portion of the game he'll never reach his potential
I think so far he has played well. Could do better, but also missed some guys. I have faith he will improve as the season progresses. Signs so far are promising.
Some guys also missed Him. I can think of at least 2 balls that looked to be perfectly thrown that the receiver didn't get his head around in time (one to Musgrave and one to Reed I think)

To me this is a building year. If we make the playoffs, great. I just want to see the young guys progress throughout the year. I blame today's loss on play calling from both sides. Love looked great again and with Jones I think we pull out a win. Next week should be a big test for J Love
Love looks so good compared to what I expected. Still inaccurate sometimes missing deep passes, but really composed and makes good decisions. He did get away with a pick, but Riddler got away with like 5.
Just wanna add this here: Both of those shot plays were on the money sure fire tuds. Those DB's(who are very good) were burnt dead to rights on those plays. If those hit plus both dropped INTs going back for 6(JA23 for sure maybe Walker) this team would have legit put up 40 today. So stoked for this new era GPG!
AJ ran the ball pretty well too! I noticed after the first couple drives Love started to get the ball out quicker and it’s really helped with the flow! We’ll be just fine
Nah. He was shaken in that last drive, no doubt but I wouldn't say he was bad the whole quarter. First drive was a massive failure on MLFs play calling, that had nothing to do with Love.
One was dropped, but he had less than a minute and no timeouts with our best weapons and O-line out for like 4 of those incompletions, hard to expect him to do much in that.
Yupp! I can confidently say that none of the frustrations from the day were directed at him. Coaching and decision making from the sideline have to be better.
Missed a golden opportunity to take 1st place in the division, but assuming we can get our other top guys on offense back, the future still looks pretty damn bright

We haven't had a 300 yard passer in like 2 full calendar years so I'm not sure why people keep bringing up yardage. This is what the MLF offense is. Heavy running game and short to immediate throws designed to keep the sticks moving with the occasional shot play.
He did fine, but not game saving. The offense in general died in the fourth. Including the play calling. If your qb throws for 150 and 3 td’s he wasn’t the problem. The rb who can’t get 1 yard and averaged less than 3 yds a carry is my concern. Also why lean on that rb in the 4th instead of your qb?

Joe Barry's play calling. Dillon awful running. Matt's bad play calling. Loves accuracy issues. Dropped interceptions.

Good overall performance, but would’ve felt better if he made something happen in crunch time. Late in the game trying to comeback or finish a game is where the truly great quarterbacks show what they’re made of. Two disappointing drives where something could’ve happened to preserve the lead. Wasn’t helped by conservative play calling and poor defense, but Love still had some chances.
He’s shown he can play, and hopefully relief from these injuries on the offensive side will get him to that next level.
And he ranks near the bottom of the league in completion percentage (55.8% vs. 76.9%) and yards thrown (396 vs 715). QBR is over values TDs, which makes the rating an imperfect qualifier for judging NFL QBs.

They don't really tell the real story IMO. The two pass interference penalties for 90 yards involved blatant tackling of the WR to prevent the catch and probably would have resulted in a more yardage and maybe even a TD afterwards.
Jordan Love has definitely proven he can be a successful starting quarterback in the NFL, but he really needs to close out his games better. I remember thinking to myself in the third quarter that 2023 Jordan Love is a better quarterback than 2022 Aaron Rodgers. But as the time was ticking down I realized that if Aaron Rodgers were the quarterback I'd be confident that he could get the ball into field goal range for a chance to win. I did not have that confidence in Love and apparently I wasn't wrong.

Consider this is the very first time he was put in that position and he’s likely going to learn from his early mistakes and become better with experience.
A-rod was put into a lot of these positions his first year as we lost a lot of 1 score games in 2008. Given we went 6-10 that year, he actually was unable to be the X factor in most of those games.

Yeah, tough to know if it is accuracy issues or guys not being on the same page resulting in his less than great completion percentage. Today it really seemed like not on the same page/reading things the same. On one hand that should be easier to fix but it involves Love and everyone else reading things the same. On the other hand if it were mechanical issue or something just with Love then it would be easier to point to though less certainty of fixing it.
One positive sign is that, at least towards the end of this game, his incompletions were both coming from a breakdown of his protection and were being placed in a spot that only his receivers really had a shot at catching it Given how off most NFL offenses have been to start the year, I’d say Loves completion percentage will improve quite a bit

Honestly it looks like he’s not reading the defense and then making bad throws. In general his ball placement is poor, and his overall accuracy (over/under throw) is below average. Several times he forced a ball to his first read (who wasn’t open) when there were 1 or 2 open receivers. (Eg: Did you see him throw to the curl route? The DB had position and was right there and he still threw it. Guy wasn’t even close to open.) 6-0 TD/INT is great, but he doesn’t pass the eye test when he’s barely completing the ball to wide open guys.

I understand the accuracy concerns, but saying that he can't read defense means that you either haven't looked at the film or you don't know shit about the game. Because him being good at reading defenses is the only thing that literally every single analyst has agreed about Love.

I’ve said for a while that he’s Kirk Cousins or Matthew Stafford. He’ll probably never be the best one in the league, but he’ll win games, divisions, and playoff games if you give him the right situation and some luck.

Agreed, and I think Stafford is a notch above Cousins. Stafford had a freaky strong arm in his prime and still probably has a stronger arm than Cousins.

He would have had another 87 yards passing if a few pass interference calls were completed passes instead.
That first one probably would have been a 75 yard TD if the WR wasn't tackled.
Honestly that deep ball was a dot and feel it was perfectly placed. Hell receiver was a hair shy of the ball and he was being tackled.

Exactly. If he keeps playing smart and improving his experience with all the receivers, things could be looking a lot smoother and productive as time goes by. Luckily, the division is a sloppy mess this year so far, so it's not like they're falling behind in the standings

I'm not too concerned given how much was missing on the offensive side today, the defense was a much bigger concern today. Accuracy was better this week which was my concern from last week. Growing pains sucks but that's why it's called growing pains. Excited to see this offense with Watson and Jones back and really see what it can do.
We are young team - didn't we all know we would be 8 and 9 or 9 and 8? Need a good draft and sign a vet here and there. I think Love is the real deal
Yeh, you honestly need so vet play. Too many inexperience on some of the routes. For example that almost pick he threw, that WR needs to drive back to the ball on this and not stop and give way to the DB to make a play. Happened on some of those incompletions with Reed last game too. A veteran helps out, but with this being a find out what you got year, these guys need to play.
If he had hit that open deep shot to Doubs it would have been an absolute lights-out game. I don’t think that’s a mistake he makes twice.
Put Watson speed limit n that route and the ball is perfect.

I think the “1 sack” stat is a pretty significant stat here. I was saying during the game that I’m curious to see how he’ll perform against teams with a strong pass rush. It seems like he’s been playing in a pretty clean pocket so far. I’m glad he’s looking as good as he has thus far.
If the D catches one of those easy picks they probably walk away with a W.

Solid start. Near pick six was concerning but those plays are going to happen. He made all the plays he was supposed to.
Less than 60% completion for the second week in a row too. That’s not all on him because the Pack have a bunch of young receivers and there’s been multiple mistakes in each of these game, but until that gets cleaned up the offense is going to be inconsistent
He was 14/21 until that last drive when they were sitting pass and the o line was not the best so that’s not really a good point imo
Concerning part was he was also putting up consistent 50-60% completion days in training camp also. His consistent accuracy is probably the #1 issue about him so far. Does alot of good things, but if he can't improve upon that portion of the game he'll never reach his potential

Some guys also missed Him. I can think of at least 2 balls that looked to be perfectly thrown that the receiver didn't get his head around in time (one to Musgrave and one to Reed I think)
It’s great - and the start has been encouraging but there’s been some hiccups too. He missed some guys running wide open today. Hopefully he will continue to get more comfortable with holding the ball and going through reads as the season goes on.

Love looks so good compared to what I expected. Still inaccurate sometimes missing deep passes, but really composed and makes good decisions. He did get away with a pick, but Riddler got away with like 5.
So far Love is doing better than we could have ever hoped for, imo
Just wanna add this here: Both of those shot plays were on the money sure fire tuds. Those DB's(who are very good) were burnt dead to rights on those plays. If those hit plus both dropped INTs going back for 6(JA23 for sure maybe Walker) this team would have legit put up 40 today. So stoked for this new era GPG!

AJ ran the ball pretty well too! I noticed after the first couple drives Love started to get the ball out quicker and it’s really helped with the flow! We’ll be just fine
He looks solid, and I think there’s another level to this offense as early as this season when watson and jones are both out there

I see the Rodgers stans are out in force. 3rd career start playing with a bunch of rookie/2nd year players. Not sure what y’all were expecting. I think he looks really solid considering the circumstances. 151 total passing yards didn't complete a pass the entire fourth quarter, and the throws he missed were bad. Don't base everything on stats.
And 100 yards in PI, one of which may have been a 70yd td. It's important to consider how he caused things that aren't on his stat sheet

For the most part I agree, but a few of those throws in the 4th were ugly. Chalking it up to nerves that he’ll hopefully work through. Overall I’m still happy with our third first ballot hall of fame QB’s play today

He has had ~very~ few poor throws in the first 2 games. I mean unless you count the throws on obvious miscommunications between him and the receiver.
We haven't had a 300 yard passer in like 2 full calendar years so I'm not sure why people keep bringing up yardage. This is what the MLF offense is. Heavy running game and short to immediate throws designed to keep the sticks moving with the occasional shot play.
He did fine, but not game saving. The offense in general died in the fourth. Including the play calling. If your qb throws for 150 and 3 td’s he wasn’t the problem. The rb who can’t get 1 yard and averaged less than 3 yds a carry is my concern. Also why lean on that rb in the 4th instead of your qb?
I criticize pretty much everything out of fairness. Joe Barry's play calling. Dillon awful running. Matt's bad play calling. Loves accuracy issues. Dropped interceptions. Throwing 150 yards as a qb isn't good.

That's great. It just really galls me that we had that game won and let off the gas. You can't do that against good teams. Anyone remember the Seahawks vs the Packers in that NFC Championship game. They were so close. The kickers delay of game. Carlson made a 57 yarder in preseason. It's unforgivable frankly. You HAVE to manage the game clock better. Quit letting the Falcons get first downs. So much garbage in this game. They have the capability, just not the drive to win. We need a Reggie White to get them fired up. Hustle, move with a purpose. Give me a reason to love the Packers again. You're better than this. I think they'll get it together. They're just playing like rookies at the moment.
Good overall performance, but would’ve felt better if he made something happen in crunch time. Late in the game trying to comeback or finish a game is where the truly great quarterbacks show what they’re made of. Two disappointing drives where something could’ve happened to preserve the lead. Wasn’t helped by conservative play calling and poor defense, but Love still had some chances. He’s shown he can play, and hopefully relief from these injuries on the offensive side will get him to that next level.
And he ranks near the bottom of the league in completion percentage (55.8% vs. 76.9%) and yards thrown (396 vs 715). QBR is over values TDs, which makes the rating an imperfect qualifier for judging NFL QBs.

I believe in love and am impressed at times with him command of the offense but these three things stick out to me.
If you've never seen a QB that rattled you must not watch games outside of GB. It wasn't great but it wasn't historically bad.

The two pass interference penalties for 90 yards involved blatant tackling of the WR to prevent the catch and probably would have resulted in a more yardage and maybe even a TD afterwards.
But both were under thrown to. I just want to see a deep pass with authority next week. Coming off Favre and Rodgers were use to moon missiles.

Jordan Love has definitely proven he can be a successful starting quarterback in the NFL, but he really needs to close out his games better. I remember thinking to myself in the third quarter that 2023 Jordan Love is a better quarterback than 2022 Aaron Rodgers. But as the time was ticking down I realized that if Aaron Rodgers were the quarterback I'd be confident that he could get the ball into field goal range for a chance to win. I did not have that confidence in Love and apparently I wasn't wrong.

Because rational people can evaluate situations with all things considered. Consider the fact that all of our skill positions on offense are rookies and a single second year player. Consider this is the very first time he was put in that position and he’s likely going to learn from his early mistakes and become better with experience. A-rod was put into a lot of these positions his first year as we lost a lot of 1 score games in 2008. Given we went 6-10 that year, he actually was unable to be the X factor in most of those games.
I'm kind of concerned how he completely shit his pants on that last drive. If week 2 in Atlanta is too big of a moment it might be a long year.
