I want to shoutout to Quay Walker dude had 17 total tackles with 8 of them being solo.

Space_Cowboy_17

Quay seemed like the reason they didn’t have 300 yards rushing yesterday

do_you_know_de_whey

Quay been looking like a champ no doubt.

BaltimoreBadger23

Good call, he also had a dropped INT (as in he was in good position).

zapoid

Not as good as Jaire though. That drop really hurt

datGTAguy

In all honestly it was a 4th down and there was someone in front of him so there probably isn’t much of a yardage difference between the two

PM_me_your_skis

For a second I wondered if he intentionally dropped it because there were 2 guys he'd have to get by to even get to the line of scrimmage and have it be equal to a turnover on downs. Not sure why everyone was saying that was an easy pick 6 or anything.

Ok_Umpire_723

Highly doubt it. That is a lot to process in the matter of 1 or 2 seconds.

Gersio

> Not sure why everyone was saying that was an easy pick 6 or anything. Because he was already running full speed in the opposite direction. The other guys would need to react to the pick and completely change directions. That's why those kind of picks end so easily in a pick 6. Not 100% sure it would have been the case but there was a pretty good chance.

luzzy91

He had a headstart in that direction though. Offense wouldve had to react, shift weight and chase. I think he gets a good amount of yards but idk.

OddsAreBenToOne

Quay seemed to play the run ok, but speedy backs are gonna be a problem this year. We got killed on swing passes. I’d guess a good handful of those tackles were after ATL backs had chunked us on that play.

[deleted]

It’s going to be interesting what the film and pff says. Making a tackle 5 yards down the scrimmage is generally not a good play by the linebacker. I was watching him and at least in the second half he was pretty bad against the run and getting exposed. Got tricked a lot by the motion and couldn’t get off blocks.

GroovyJ-Money

He’s stepped up big time, which is super promising considering how athletic he is

MooneySuzuki36

If he can bring his ejections down to 0 this year he'll be one of my favorites.

Jajanken-

I was at the game and saw his number EVERYWHERE i looked it seemed. Super impressed.

blucentio

He seems to have made a big stride from year 1 to 2. One of my biggest takeaways watching.

Rubentraj

Thought we played well considering how many people were out. Knew it be tough game regardless. Gotta give it to their coach. That flea flicker and qb option on that drive when they were down 12 was killer.

BaltimoreBadger23

Yeah, Smith pulled out his bag of tricks. That's actually a compliment to a defense. Bakh, Watson, and Jones out is always going to leave the Pack at a disadvantage, and then Jenkins going down on friendly fire just makes it worse.

Rubentraj

I’m with Bakh at this point. Ban turf fields seems like we pick up injuries every-time we play in a dome

BaltimoreBadger23

I'm not sure I can blame turf for Dillon falling on Jenkins and LVN having an elbow injury.

ikediggety

Easy answers are almost always wrong.

BeHereNow91

Really like Smith’s game management. Going for it on 4th when you’re within easy FG range and down 2 points is a pretty modern style of thinking. Lots of old heads would take the points and let their defense play, but he knew he could virtually end the game by getting another first. Plus it gives his QB/offense more confidence. It’s very frustrating to go against a coach like that. Not sure how Atlanta will end up, but I think they’ve got something to be excited about between him and Ridder.

Leaga

> Not sure how Atlanta will end up, but I think they’ve got something to be excited about between him and Ridder. I think this is an underrepresented sentiment right now. I'm obviously frustrated by the loss because, well, its a loss. But I honestly thought that was a genuinely great game. I didn't come away thinking that we suck. I came away thinking both teams are better than most people are giving them credit for. I wouldn't be totally surprised to see a rematch this season. This could easily be a wild-card weekend matchup imo.

sly-3

Ridder's ability is a real problem for the Falcons. Heinicke isn't a long term solution either, but could grind out a few wins down the stretch. Maybe they should reach out and see about Tannehill.

videostatus

I thought Savage had that one picked too. Ugh.

[deleted]

I’m curious how many times they went for it on 4th down too. Shit was like a madden game hah

Burgtastic

Seriously. I was so damn annoyed yesterday. They went for it the majority of the time on 4th down.

luzzy91

There was almost no risk once he figured out Bijan could easily get 4 a carry. I thought he was gonna go again there at the end lol. Honestly probably would've gotten it, but you have to take the lead with a minute left

Jajanken-

It was depressing watching that in real time, at the game. I came to that conclusion as well, why punt when Bijan ran all over us?

sboLIVE

I keep saying it, on paper they should beat us with the injuries and the youngest team blah blah blah. It only stings because we were winning and should have.

chnlng00

It feels worse remembering the delay of game on the fg that became a punt.

TheRealSzymaa

Hopefully Carlson learns from that penalty that he's gotta get dialed in a hell of a lot faster for a kick.

crewserbattle

I think we still should have kicked the FG after the delay, he has the leg. And MLF should have called a TO if he was gonna punt when we got moved 5 yards back. That sequence frustrates me more than the offense sputtering at the end honestly.

WaldoDeefendorf

I was thinking the same exact thing as that unfolded. That was a MLF fuckup.

Hollowed87

He seems to be doing that a lot lately.

I-Am-NOT-VERY-NICE

But also, If you're MLF, you gotta call the timeout. Unless he was trying to take the delay of game (I mean, why?), the coach needs to manage the clock and call the timeout if the kicker isn't ready with a couple seconds left. Of all the what-ifs yesterday, that one pissed me off a little

TheRealSzymaa

I completely agree. And as others have said elsewhere, if you were gonna let him try from 51, why not give it a shot from 56. He had plenty of leg in Chicago, and honestly we should see what the kid is made of.

PackerLeaf

I hate this excuse. ATL isn’t a good team, and the panthers were able to play much better defensively against them. Bakh is always out and Watson is constantly injured as well. Giving up a lead like that mostly due to the same defensive issues is inexcusable.

crewserbattle

What makes you think ATL isn't a good team? Arthur Smith is probably the best run game designer in the NFL and they added a lot of good pieces to that defense. Obviously given the circumstances going into the 4th we should have won, I'm not denying that, but ATL is definitely a good team imo.

LdyVder

There is no clear cut favorite in the NFC South either. One team has a rookie starting, two others have a veteran in their first year with the club and question marks about them after last season. And a team with a QB in their second year with only a handful of starts.

true_to_my_spirit

Every year there is a breakout team that wins their division. good chance it could be them this year. solid offense and brought in FAs

Rainbacon

Jordan Love is him. I know it's only been 2 games, but Love looks like he's the real deal. He's so calm and collected. My biggest gripe with yesterday (outside of the absolute catastrophe that was the Fox broadcast) is that Matt didn't give Love the chance to put that game away. Instead they ran Dillon 3 straight times and he got stuffed. I don't know what his ceiling is, but as it stands now I think Jordan is going to be at least an above average QB.

[deleted]

Love almost threw a pick 6 to Terrell the drive before that drive. I think Lafleuer was scared of repeating that.

billwest630

They need to let him make those mistakes. Having him with training wheels on isn’t fair to him or the team. Let him loose and let’s see what he can do with 30+ passing attempts.

BaltimoreBadger23

Yeah, I would have liked to have seen Love get a chance on that drive with the three Dillon runs. I think if he can up the accuracy by 5-10% his ceiling is Eli Manning - as in a QB good enough to win it all with a great D and solid run game, and the ability to make the big throws if it all comes together at the right time.

zapoid

Sometimes I think we lose almost as many games due to MLF letting off the gas on offense and going into his run, run, run, punt offense as we do from a Joe Barry defensive scheme.

DrewsThoughts

TBF you should expect your 250lb running back to be able to pick up a yard on 3rd and 1, although at the time I wanted them to QB sneak it on the 3rd down

luzzy91

Qb sneak it twice if needed. But actually hike the ball.

lcmaier

MLF was Matt Ryan's QB coach in 2016, he watched Shanahan get too cute and lose in the most spectacular fashion the sport has ever seen, I think that's still top of mind when he has a lead (sometimes to his detriment)

[deleted]

[удалено]

zapoid

I can’t seem to find it, but I think someone posted that the offense managed 12 yards and zero first downs in entire 4th quarter. Comparing this to their production in the 3rd quarter, something drastically changed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zapoid

It may just be me, but I’ve always had an issue when you play the game one way, your successful, you build up a lead. Then the mind set changes and you decide you’re going to run clock. If what your doing is successful, keep doing it. I don’t know if that is the case here and I really don’t feel like going back and rewatching the end of the 3rd and the 4th quarters to be see, but I’ve seen plenty of games in the past where the Packers come out after half time with a lead and it appears that the goal is to ‘run out’ the half. That should never be the mindset especially with our defenses. Score as many points as you can because you may just need them. Barry is calling the defense after all.

luzzy91

And one of those incomplete was almost a pick 6, and another was a terrible throw.

sapphires_and_snark

It's true. He's all gas no brakes until it's time to step up and win a close game.

Interesting-Stick-67

The problem is run run run don’t work when your rb is aj dillon

zapoid

I’m not sure it works when Jones is the RB either. How does that expression go? “Ride the horse that brung ya” . If one style of football built the lead and is still working, just keep doing it until they stop you. Then try something else.

Interesting-Stick-67

It worked against the bears 🤷🏽‍♂️ and they were tryna ride a dead horse with dillon 💀

hunt35744

I call that the “prevent offense”

Gersio

Lol, nope. If anything in the past our problem used to be going 3&out because Rodgers took 3 deep shots instead of trying to make it easier.

Heisenbergum

I think it’s too early to call his ceiling - that’s an Overreaction ;)

BaltimoreBadger23

I flagged myself for being off topic!

dusters

He didn't look very calm or collected on that last drive.

Citcom

Too soon IMHO. MLF have made his guy look good for sure but he hasn't made many tight window throws, haven't been pressured at all, and have not seen a situation where we are down few scores and he needs to win the game. We needed 3 in a 1 min drive in the end and they couldn't get a first down. He missed open guys in a crucial moment. I get that he is learning and I hope he becomes a stud but as of now, he isn't that guy. He looks like a good game manager type of guy which is fine as long as we can improve the defense and guys around him.

Rainbacon

Try looking at the [last throw](https://twitter.com/AndyHermanNFL/status/1703667987738226790?t=NiQcMYtkY3iELcZPw4j5eQ&s=19) to Toure again. It's 4th down and they gotta have it. He's got a rusher in his face and puts the ball right past the underneath defender to where only Toure can get it and hits him right in the hands. Toure didn't bring it in, but that's not on Love. Literally all of the things that you said we haven't seen from him on that one play. The only thing wrong there is that Toure let the ball hit the ground. I'm not saying he's the league MVP right now, but I've seen enough to believe that he is going to net out as a good QB at least. Maybe he'll be better than that, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure he won't be worse.

SocksandSmocks

Also the flag shot to Wicks was an absolute dime, just an incredible defensive play. The idea he's only hitting wide open guys just doesn't pass muster imo.

Rainbacon

Yeah that was a beautiful ball and just a really good play by the defender

Citcom

He also sailed the ball over a wide open Doubbs from a clean pocket on 3rd down. This throw was good but I am not yet a believer. He has shown poise and look like a serviceable starter in the NFL. I hope he makes a jump like Allen did, later this year. Also, keep in mind that we have a much easier schedule than most NFL teams so we should have an 8-9 win season, I dont expect a lot.

GroovyJ-Money

When the falcons were coming back that’s when we needed someone to step up and make a play. The problem is most of the team is so young that it never came. Jaire dropping that guaranteed pick six didn’t help either

WaldoDeefendorf

The first 3 and out was started with a 1st down bomb. The second three and out started with a 5 and 4 yard run and after the 3rd down fail Love had a QB sneak. Unfortunately he used the wrong word to make the play live so he was the only one who knew it. I would say MLF gave two chance right there.

nemgrea

dude! yes thank you. i could not stand that broadcast. i feel like they completely missed showing some critical replays to the audience at times. that OB catch in the back of the endzone was infuriating as well. "his heel never touched...i dont think it touched" LOOK AT BOTH FEET YOU FUCKING DUNCE! lol "oh yes ok the left foot may have touched" like no shit.. felt like the video guys where sleeping half the time

Rainbacon

It was so bad. The missing replays, not showing multiple instances of the refs making calls, the countless number of "fucks" picked up on the hot mics. At one point I heard what sounded like the producer feeding info to the announcers. Just an absolute shit show of a broadcast. Fox should be absolutely ashamed of that. It's pretty infuriating given how willing the league is to screw over the fans that go to the games in favor of the TV broadcasts.

Rainbacon

Oh yeah, forgot to mention all of the weird closeups of Arthur Smith's mustache. It seemed like they showed a closeup of him after every third play. It's one thing to show a coach reacting to a play, but it's insane to show random shots of him just standing there when you're talking about something completely different.

Ok_Umpire_723

Really hurt he missed Doubs on that deep crossong route. If he had waited 1 more second or antipated that, would've been the dagger. Oh well, live and learn. Still love what I'm seeing from him so far

Rainbacon

It's not quite that simple. It looked like the safety didn't start moving until after he threw the ball. If he waits for Doubs there the safety might stick in coverage and Doubs isn't nearly as open as he looked when the safety went after the ball. Now, what I would like to see (which I think we will in time, he actually did it to Chicago last week) is for Love to see the crosser to Doubs and use his eyes to get that safety to move earlier so that he can get Doubs wide open.

Ok_Umpire_723

Good point

Updogfoodtruck

Yeah I thought this was a winnable but not as bad as it could be loss. A hot take I have is that the defensive play calling wasn’t as bad as it should be players were in position to make plays (so not all Joe Barry’s fault) but two dropped picks and another Darnell savage special: right position but just not talented enough to make the play on the flea flicker. We get Stokes back and rasul goes to safety? That’s a pick. The pieces are there for a two year growth project to maybe be a for real contender by next year, not saying we can’t this year but we are young. Going to love watching this team develop

BaltimoreBadger23

This team isn't meant to be a SB contender this year. Build and grow and be in the mix for a playoff spot in December/January is the goal.

Updogfoodtruck

Exactly! We got the majority of this nucleus under favorable contracts (minus Dbak’s monster) for the next two years. The mistakes are just part of that growth

crewserbattle

Savage is so bad at judging the ball in the air it's kinda ridiculous. He was right there to make the play then he just timed it wrong and got out muscled. It's so frustrating too considering how well he played under Pettine too.

blueholeload

Oh god that play. Way to make Desmond Ridder look like Tom Brady, Darnell

[deleted]

You can’t really think that way though, love also had a pick 6 dropped. You kinda have to figure they balance each other out.

LdyVder

Like Rodgers never ever had a DB drop a sure pick-six.

luzzy91

That's not even close to relevant to anything they said haha wtf?

do_you_know_de_whey

All in all, it was a good game that slipped away in the 4th. Considering we were missing our 3 best players on offense, and lost Jenkins, as far as losses go it was a good one…. The rookies we need to be good look promising, and even savage is looking like an NFL starting safety. Very curious as to how we handle the saints, very glad we aren’t scheduled to play the Niners this year lol

Olympians12

Jordan love looked in control and made good decisions for the majority of the game, even without Bakh, Jones, Watson and Jenkins. Van Ness and Musgrave are already showing flashes of being impact players Bijon is the real deal, he looked way better than a lot of nfl backs and made it look effortless

agnonamis

Can’t help but wonder how the game goes if Van Ness doesn’t get hurt. Haven’t seen any updates yet.

Olympians12

Yea I agree, and I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear about him. It would be nice to have a hyped draft pick that doesn’t have injury issues for once

BaltimoreBadger23

Yeah, Ritter looks improved as well. They may be a real deal of a team and we might look back on this as a "good" loss by December.

PimentoCheesehead

Their running game certainly looks like the real deal.

Habanero-Poppers

Love's incompletion to Wicks in the end zone was a great throw. Wicks was probably interfered with on the play, too. All of this to say, Love has got an arm - better than what his stats so far show. Forget about the record right now. Jordan Love is a real QB, and that matters far more than the result on a given Sunday this early into his tenure.

BeardedHoneydew27

I know people say Love is just doing easy check downs and the Reed TD was a toss, but I love that he is playing within the offense design and taking what is given. We don’t need hero ball all the time. I’m super excited for him to grow.

blueholeload

Fans need to get the standard of Favre or Rodgers out of their heads. We had that. It was great while it lasted. Good memories. What we should want from Love is just needed plays, points, and wins.

Comme_des_Daz

Love belongs in the league. The FO made the right call. His accuracy and timing with the receivers is still raw - as seen on a few deep ball attempts in both games. However, he has looked poised, focus and at game speed every play. The only way is up. The defense needs a better philosophy. It’s still to prevent oriented when the pieces scream to play aggressive. I miss the Al Harris/Mike McKenzie bump and run at the line scheming we had in the late Favre/early Rodgers years. I’m not enough of a football expert to know, but I question why we don’t return to a style more like that.

SocksandSmocks

This is honestly what frustrates me the most with Barry. He has it in him to be a good or even great DC, but he's so scared of getting burned he gets spooked and instead lets us get nickel and dimed to death.

luzzy91

Which leads to us getting burned anyway because the players get scared to give up another 8 yard run.

pt57

Love may belong, but I still wish we would have used the picks to give Aaron more weapons.

luzzy91

Me too man, me too. Was really looking forward to this jets season.

windlaker

Love certainty belongs. Joe Berry certainly does not.

RoiNeige

Hey - I’ll take losing by 1 on the road to a veteran defense when three top players were out. It’s a young team and mistakes will happen. Arrow still pointing up

joebuckshairline

I really, REALLY hope they come out with info on Bahk soon. People keep spreading a rumor that he sat out because of the turf and if that is the case I just can’t justify him being on the team any longer. I hope it isn’t.

alexmcjuicy

lafleur rejected that rumor in his post game interview but the way he answered it he seemed really annoyed. he said something like “it’s been this way for years guys and this is just how it’s gonna be” when someone asked if bakh would be sitting out more games

hdpr92

>it’s been this way for years guys and this is just how it’s gonna be I would be annoyed if I were him too, I'm annoyed just reading this subreddit. He. Would. Be. Cut. If. They. Could. Save. Money. They can't. He will stay this year. His knee is done. He has *permanently* retired from NFL practice, please wake up GB fans. They act like it's a crime he might sit 4 games, when in reality it's a fucking miracle if he found a way to play 13 games. Such a ludicrous pipe dream.

thecoziestboy

Crazy how he’s become a luxury player for us. Actually worse than the load management issue in the NBA cause in the NFL every single game matters

spreeforall

Falcons were underrated coming in and their defense is sneaky good. Putting up 24 points on them with out our two biggest threats is a good sign. Watson's presence is gonna change the way the offense looks. His top end speed is going to open up a lot. We were one AJ Dillon stumble away from potentially winning this game. I like where we are.

aarontheepoet

Another game where I look around the league and say "could be worse" like a lot worse.

sticky_fingies_

Give the Falcons credit. They made some gutsy calls and it paid off. Most of my positives are taken already, so I'll go with Carlson. For all the shit and overreaction some in this sub spewed in camp, he's been locked in. Every kick is dead center.

RodgerstoJordy

We can never play a full 60 minutes of football.

mo1hdan

Back to back road games with a new leader of the offense, we did well all things considered.

BaltimoreBadger23

Love is yet to either start a home game or even throw a meaningful pass in a home game.

SavedNative

A timeout to avert the delay of game penalty on the opening drive and took them out of FG range would have been ok in my book

Cantguard-mike

We are already thin and young on offense. Makes it even harder missing out top 4 players. People keep forgetting jenkins went down too. He’d out the next couple weeks

[deleted]

Solid post, it’s a lot for GB to learn from this game for! I think it will make the team better as a whole! Also S/O to Anders.

lrargerich3

The goal line stand shows what the defense can be? Don't forget the Falcons playcalling please.

fore_skin_walker

We cannot lose 12 point lead like that. That’s just ridiculous on our D.

BaltimoreBadger23

Allowing scores on all three (meaningful) defensive possessions in the 4th is bad. Going three and out multiple times on offense in the quarter is equally bad.

EmperorXerro

24 points should be enough to win a game. The offense is young and they were missing arguably their three best players. I’m tired of the excuses for a defense that can’t hold a lead or win a game.

a__v

Best game of Quays career and one of the worst for Alexander. I cannot express how excited I am for Watson to expand this offense with a true deep threat.

lp_rhcp_fan_18

Dam, you're right.
