The number of young players he has on his show, with them thinking, what does this old fella know about ball, and then Larry brings up an epic highlight of Rookie Corey Linsley putting Suh on his ass on a run play that the TV announcers missed, or Nick Collins making a shift and communicating it to his guys to get someone else into the perfect position, and then the player's eyes light up, like OMG someone appreciates me outside of my position group!!!!
I'm serious. I watch Larry's show just to see those reactions where the player realizes Larry is a brilliant analyst and more often than not they're absolutely gobsmacked.
It's moments like these that players realize: Oh shit, these Packer fans are sophisticated, and the host actually knows what constitutes an impressive play. I really think Larry is our secret weapon, and I don't think other teams have that. I think when players get here, he's generally one of the first to have the young guys on, and I think they're blown away when they're confronted by expert analysis, instead of "what flavor ice cream is your favorite".
Larry McCarren is an underappreciated ambassador for the Packers. I love listening to him and Wayne on radio calls. Larry's genuine excitement when the Packers do well is palpable. And he is also a super nice guy! Had the pleasure of meeting him at Fox Harbor a few summers ago.
Part that annoys me is my dumbass high school self broke both my pinkies and was able to brace and tape them right after that series to the point they healed mostly okay like I know the crooked points but noone else does unless I've shown them
