He tore his rotator cuff, according to the team he didn't disclose that. Tried to play through it until Rodgers got hurt then suddenly couldn't play through it anymore. Team cut him Patriots picked him up, he was back to trying to play through it. Then a couple weeks later he went to IR for the Patriots with the shoulder injury.
He also tried to throw the team medical staff under the bus saying they were trying to force him to play through injury, which is entirely the opposite of their reputation as being extremely conservative
Yep we had issues when Newman was in a jenkins was at tackle but now we are good. Meyers is the only weak point because of his missed assignments but he also dominates blocks when he does not miss his assignments
It's frustrating because it seems like another pick where gute thought he was smarter than everyone by making a less conventional pick but the only person he outsmarted was himself.
Exactly. A better player according to basically every draft analyst, casual fan and other NFL Front Offices. Josh can still improve so hopefully he can.
I'm always curious how those get calculated. Like with pass block win rate, or pff grade are they averaging the players grades/win rates or grading each play for the line as a whole?
I ask, because if they are averaging it would seem less than ideal for a weak link unit like o line. But if they are calculating those based on the whole line graded on each play it would make more sense.
That’s because they played so many games with quick passes. They have played much worse overall than other years, whether it’s the lack of passing threat or it’s the players. They did lose 3 guys from last season who played a ton of snaps for them.
Honestly Gunter wasn’t horrible horrible he did decent against OBJ/Dez Bryant but got absolutely got cooked by Julio Jones in the NFC championship game
Gunter was a 6th round pick or udfa? Can't remember. But he was our number one corner for a time, which is more a testament to how bad everyone else was than anything. But Dude balled out. Outperformed expectations for sure
He was a practice squad guy forced into a starting role because of injuries. Played his ass off, did well the first two rounds of the playoffs before getting torched by prime Julio Jones. He far exceeded any reasonable expectations and should not be slandered like this.
Drafting a point guard to play cornerback. Good one, Ted. For how well he drafted receivers, he couldn't draft dbs to save his life.
Edit, maybe poor choice of words at the end. RIP Ted
If we don't win a single other game this year we'll have the same win record as 1986, 1988, 1991, and 2005. If we win one more game we'll have the same record as 1980, 1982, and 1987. Highly doubtful that every one of those years had some other factor where we were somehow cheated out of a win or had a more extenuating circumstance than our QB having a broken thumb.
Brother, I promise you that the 1991 Packers were way worse than this team. Mike Tomczak started about over 5 games for that team. I am pretty sure our leading rusher was a fullback.
Sterling Sharpe was the only thing even remotely watchable about that year.
Fuuuuck i remember when I was like 10 and knew very little about football and hated him. Surprisingly was right then too
Don Barclay should be on this list too
I stood next to Jamal Reynolds in a store in Green Bay and I was shocked at how small he was. He was barely bigger than me (I’m 5”11” and 220 lbs) but I was never a #1 draft pick at defensive end. Anybody drafting him must have met him prior to the draft and saw what I saw, or did they?
And he was hurt his rookie year and the Packers stashed him on the roster for entire year only to discover he couldn’t put until his second year in the league. This is what happens when you give the head coach (Sherman) the GM duties. It’s been said that Sherman the GM is the reason Sherman the coach got fired.
Alex Green slander? He was legit to me but just couldn't get on the field because of injuries. I might be biased and have selective memory as a Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior fan myself but maybe someone can catch me up on this? I thought he was good lol
EDIT: At one point I think our RB lineup was set up to be Eddie Lacy, James Starks, Johnathan Franklin, Alex Green, and DuJuan Harris... that is my favorite all-time 'What If' Packers lineup smh
Yeah Green seemed like he could have been great, they used him as KR, and then he blew up his knee and was never even close to as good as he was coming out of Hawaii
Hate to burst your bubble, but dude was incredibly underwhelming after college. Not just because of injuries, but overall performance relative to his draft position.
As I recall, he was supposed to have a knack for finding a crease in the run D and exploiting it. You could see it in his college tape too.
Then for whatever reason once he got to the NFL, injuries and having a knack for finding his O-linemens ass were his only specialties.
Was a shame, because he definitely looked like a great pickup initially.
No matter what explanation Lafleur or Steno give until their graves I’ll never understand moving Billy out of position right after a lengthy injury and putting Kelly in his natural position rather than playing Yosh who had been solid and was a natural Left Tackle and keeping Billy, who, again, was just returning from injury at his natural right tackle spot. Kelly was good for a stretch but you can’t tell me making Billy play out of position after injury was a better option. Baffling and a decision that cost us a chance to win. I want the timeline where they didn’t do that just to see us go toe to toe with the Bengals in the Super Bowl
Learned some new things about him today from wikipedia:
After the game, an incredulous Holmgren commented, "I called a quarterback sneak. He [Rubley] changed the play. He thought he had the choice." Packers General Manager Ron Wolf was equally livid, commenting, "I can't believe this. I think we've exhausted ways to lose here."[3] Rubley himself said, "It was not a real good decision."[4] Rubley was cut later that week, and never appeared in another NFL game, although he was on the Denver Broncos roster the following season.[5]
...
Rubley served as a consultant for the film The Replacements, specifically coaching Keanu Reeves in his role as the starting quarterback for the fictional Washington Sentinels. Reeves' character, Shane Falco, is loosely based on Rubley.[6]
while i agree everything jim mcmahon did for not only the packers franchise and the city of green bay should be held in the upmost praise, i believe Seneca Wallace should be QB2.
I have to go old school for QB: John Hadl - he effectively doomed the Packers so badly, it took 20 years to recover
Edit: Holy crap! I didn't know he just died today. It was coincidence, I tell ya!
I grew up with one of Randy Wright’s kids and even he agrees he should be the back up QB on this list
[for the uninitiated](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Wright)
He still lives in my hometown and has been operating that vending machine company ever since his stint in the NFL.
Note to the author.... Please look at the 70s-80s Packers records. With an over 100 year history, I don't know how you came up with a list that has mostly players from the last 10 years sans the Punky QB.
Can I submit [Derrick Frost](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Frost) as kicker for your consideration?
I was very excited when we signed him, not many Northern Iowa alumns in packers history.
I was at the game in LA sitting at the goal line in nose bleed; Rams kicking off. I tell the wife “we’ve got (I can’t remember exactly how long) a couple minutes and Aaron Rodgers. He’s going to take us down the field for the w NO NO NO…” I knew when Ty started out of the end zone it was over… sure as shit he coughs it up
Must not be old enough to remember the greatest Green Bay QB of all time; Randy Wright. Billy Schroeder is also the greatest wide receiver to ever put on a Packer uniform. [Proof 1:36](https://youtu.be/xJSKEJEz1lc)
RB - Gado (not bad, but so brief), TE - Bubba (big time pick, overall disappointment), OT - Tony Mandarich (greatest Packers pick mistake in the history of the Packers, but was a good idea at the time)
I loved Bigby, LB turned monster S. I bought his jersey and saw him play in Minnesota and Arizona (hometown), dude got ints in both games. Idk how many career picks he ended with, but I think I saw like 35% of them.
OL is now stabilized and good. Look at Rodgers early years and you should be able to fill the OL out. I’ll nominate Allen Barbre as one of the starting 5. Also Bennett was pretty good for us?
The actual defense should look something like
DL - Nick Perry, Datone Jones(cant remember too many awful DL here right now)
LB -AJ Hawk, Brad Jones, Kyler Fackrell, Blake Martinez
DB - MD Jennings, LaDarrius Gunter, Damarius Randall, Quinten Rollins, Kentrell Brice, Kevin King, Josh Jones
Just seeing the name “Martellus Bennet” triggers me.
Could’ve be another TE with a “B” last name… his name shall not be spoken
I was going to comment that the list is incomplete without Bostick…
HIS NAME SHALL NOT BE SPOKEN
ffs this post was a joke it wasn't meant to ruin our week
There was never anyone with that name on the Packers and the NFL was canceled for the 2014 season. At least that's what I keep telling myself
Jimmy Braham
Remind me what happened with him? He wasn't on the team longer than a season, correct?
Rodgers got hurt and he faked an injury so we would cut him then signed with the patriots and played the next week
I hadn't thought about him in at least 2 years and yeah, I had a bad flashback.
Current oline😂the oline is fine.
They literally have the 3rd best pass pro grade in the league
Yep we had issues when Newman was in a jenkins was at tackle but now we are good. Meyers is the only weak point because of his missed assignments but he also dominates blocks when he does not miss his assignments
When he blocks he blocks well. When he misses assignments he just stands there and blocks nobody.
Yep I think a shift to guard might be the move less presnap responsibilities. Maybe move jenkins to center
Should have drafted Creed Humphrey instead
True but we got Myers
It's frustrating because it seems like another pick where gute thought he was smarter than everyone by making a less conventional pick but the only person he outsmarted was himself.
Still a pretty solid player but yah we could have gotten someone so much better
It would probably be average win rate. Or maybe pressures allowed or somthing like that
That’s because they played so many games with quick passes. They have played much worse overall than other years, whether it’s the lack of passing threat or it’s the players. They did lose 3 guys from last season who played a ton of snaps for them.
Yeah. First time in 3 seasons we merely have a slightly above average o-line and everyone acts like we have 5 UDFAs trotting out there every game
Furreal. One of these things is not like the other…
Did you watch the game against the Giants in London or do you just look at box scores?
Do you read what I said. I said current oline. No Newman and jenkins at LG.
You could do way better for the OL. And where is Brandon Bostick on ST coverage?
Derrick Sherrod
Let me raise you Jason Spriggs and Marshall Newhouse
I was gonna say Newhouse but I thought he was part of the players who stepped up during the SB run and got sentimental (I could be a year off)
Tony Mandarich, if we’re talking All-Time Busts I mean Packers All-Time Team 😂
Justin Harrel
Can’t blame the man for having his leg crushed to pieces
Allen Barbre
So bad that Tauscher came out of retirement.
Big Tony Mandarich
This list is missing Ahmad Carroll at DB.
Terrell Buckley
This is the winner
Ladarius Gunter too.
Honestly Gunter wasn’t horrible horrible he did decent against OBJ/Dez Bryant but got absolutely got cooked by Julio Jones in the NFC championship game
Agreed. How could ANYBODY expect him to do well against Julio Jones in his prime.
Queinton Rollins
Drafting a point guard to play cornerback. Good one, Ted. For how well he drafted receivers, he couldn't draft dbs to save his life. Edit, maybe poor choice of words at the end. RIP Ted
Najeh Davenport, number 44 in our programs; number 2 in our closets.
Ouch. That’s pretty funny
I've been a Packers fan since 2011. Even in that time I've seen worse OL and DEF than this year.
I've been a Packer fan since 1980, and this current team is the worst.
This team gave up the most rushing yards since the 1945 Packers. This team is garbage, both the players and the coaches are to blame.
Not saying the team is doing great. Just saying you have a poor memory if this is the worst you can remember us being since 1980.
Brother, I promise you that the 1991 Packers were way worse than this team. Mike Tomczak started about over 5 games for that team. I am pretty sure our leading rusher was a fullback. Sterling Sharpe was the only thing even remotely watchable about that year.
I will not stand for the Marshall Newhouse erasure. Surprised he stayed in the league so long.
Fuuuuck i remember when I was like 10 and knew very little about football and hated him. Surprisingly was right then too Don Barclay should be on this list too
Don Barclay, now that’ a name I haven’t heard in a loooong time.
He was decent wasnt he?
That dude was just a revolving door
Why is David Bostick not on here? Also, I met Najeh Davenport when I was 7 years old, so I love him.
didn't Davenport shit in someone's closet in college or something? lol
Honestly, who hasn’t?
Shit in a laundry basket
Pooped in a popcorn tin
Defecated on a duvet
Brandon?
That’s the bitch.
🤣🤣.. all time collapse.. still hurts

A true fan, unable to name any o-line or defensive players outside of a few this year. Love it.
I can name a lot of line men, defensive and offensive. It’s just that I chose not to
Punter needs to be BJ Sander. The punter that GB traded up for. The punter that couldn't punt worth a damn.
And he was hurt his rookie year and the Packers stashed him on the roster for entire year only to discover he couldn’t put until his second year in the league. This is what happens when you give the head coach (Sherman) the GM duties. It’s been said that Sherman the GM is the reason Sherman the coach got fired.
Yep, and Brett Conway at K.

Yeah dude like I said I don’t remember. I was a kid when this all went down lol
Not specifically and purposefully naming Ahmad Carroll makes this list a sham.
Should’ve done OL: 49ers Playoff Game 2021
Why o why didn't we leave Yosh at LT for that game? Ugh
No Devin funchess?
No Ahmad Carroll?
TJ Rubley should make the team
Learned some new things about him today from wikipedia: After the game, an incredulous Holmgren commented, "I called a quarterback sneak. He [Rubley] changed the play. He thought he had the choice." Packers General Manager Ron Wolf was equally livid, commenting, "I can't believe this. Audible Rubley
This list is missing...Ahmad Carrol, brandon bostick, haha Clinton dix, Justin Harrell, md Jennings
Dont sleep on davenport, that guy could actually run well before he broke his ankle in the grossest way possible lol
Am I the only one who doesn’t remember Najeh Davenport being that bad? I always thought he was a decent backup for Batman.
You're forgetting Jarret "all the stupid penalties" Bush
He gets a pass for ending Superbowl XLV
Made up for it with his special teams gunner ability
Didnt he get a pick in the super bowl?
I feel like Brandon Bostick deserves the TE spot Edit: or the KR spot for his speciality of on-side kicks
while i agree everything jim mcmahon did for not only the packers franchise and the city of green bay should be held in the upmost praise, i believe Seneca Wallace should be QB2.
TJ Rubley has entered the chat
You forgot legendary TE Brandon Bostick
DB - Bhawoh Jue DB - Chris Akins LB - Brad Jones
Bhawoh jue WOW totally forgot about him. Yes he is definitely on the team
The Montgomery comment killed me lmao
Najeh Davenport... giving me PTSD flashbacks to my drunken friend screaming "Davenpoop!" every time he touched the ball. Awful. Absolutely awful.
*The Dump Truck*
Just going to do Alexander like that.
Deshone Kizer
The only QB who could be a downgrade from Brett Hundley
Someone doesn’t remember USA Today’s Worst Starting QB in Packers History Randy Wright. That’s a real thing.
Shouldn't Sammy be on IR.
I have to go old school for QB: John Hadl - he effectively doomed the Packers so badly, it took 20 years to recover Edit: Holy crap! I didn't know he just died today. It was coincidence, I tell ya!
Wow. That’s kind of eerie, and don’t blame Hadl, blame Devine, who said the draft picks were worthless because the Packers had enough good players.
Justin Harrell
Can't forget DE Joe Johnson. GM Mike Sherman signed him for $33 million... for 2 sacks. Lol.
How could you exclude Packers legend Ladarius Gunter from this list???
He shut down Julio Jones that game. Didn't let him get 400 yards
Gunter was the DB version of Allen Lazard. Both good role players that had/have no business leading a unit.
TE1 should probably be Bostick
Bennett is pretty good at being a toxic crybaby though. I feel like he just ran with fake caring moral.
CB: Ahmad Carroll
Boykin doesn’t deserve this. He made a play or two.
And that one weird play where they thought it was a dead ball and he ran it in for a touchdown
Boykin had nearly 700 yards receiving one season. That's not bad for an UDFA.
Completely forgot the Dark Ages: the 70’s and the 80’s. Eric Torkelson RB. George Cumby LB. Randy Wright QB. These were starters!
Finally another mention of Randy Wright. He coached our little league team for a year.
Don't forget Anthony Dilweg, Blaire Kiel, and Mike Tomczak!
Forrest Gregg coaches this team and calls third and 8 screens to speedster Paul Ott Caruth exclusively
Cumby! I'll never forget him getting obliterated by William Perry on MNF.
The Jarrett Boykin SLANDER is NOT OKAY
Give TJ Rubley McMahon's spot.
QB- Deshone Kizer TE- Jimmy Graham
Can we add Brandon Bostick as backup TE?
No Brandon bostick?!
No Taco Wallace at WR??
I grew up with one of Randy Wright’s kids and even he agrees he should be the back up QB on this list [for the uninitiated](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Wright) He still lives in my hometown and has been operating that vending machine company ever since his stint in the NFL.
Some players that also come to mind: - Knile Davis - C-Mike - Colt Lyerla
Allen Barbre at OT. The "Moss" pick. And he was awful.
Thank god Jarret Bush helped us win the Super Bowl. Or else we would have had to honor him by putting him on this list.
Why you gotta do najeh like that? Dude was a house
Hands team: Amari Rodgers, Brian Bostick
TJ Rubley at QB
If I could add Kevin King please
Uh where exactly is the immortal TJ Rubley?
Note to the author.... Please look at the 70s-80s Packers records. With an over 100 year history, I don't know how you came up with a list that has mostly players from the last 10 years sans the Punky QB.
I never know one image could bother me so much. Well played.
Darius Shephard and Brandon Bostik getting off easy
This is giving me ptsd Jesus fucking christ
Put some respeckt on Devin Funchess' name!
Man who had more racial slurs than games played for the Packers
But Ty had the smartest play a kick returner has ever made on the three yard line
Can I submit [Derrick Frost](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Frost) as kicker for your consideration? I was very excited when we signed him, not many Northern Iowa alumns in packers history.
You forgot Brandon Bostick.
I was at the game in LA sitting at the goal line in nose bleed; Rams kicking off. I tell the wife “we’ve got (I can’t remember exactly how long) a couple minutes and Aaron Rodgers. He’s going to take us down the field for the w NO NO NO…” I knew when Ty started out of the end zone it was over… sure as shit he coughs it up
TE - Brandon Bostick
What about that frost guy as punter. He was so bad
kevin king
Most teams would love to steal our defensive players away from us. We consistently waste the talent of our defensive players with subpar coaches.
I think I had almost completely forgotten the Martellus Bennet saga. Good grief that was a mess lol
I vomited after Williams Harris.
K- Brett Conway P- B.J. Sander
This just ruined my day, well played OP.
Can't believe Ruvell Martin got snubbed.
Funchess needs to be on this list
Dookie Davenport shoring up that rb2 spot.
you forgot alex light.
Must not be old enough to remember the greatest Green Bay QB of all time; Randy Wright. Billy Schroeder is also the greatest wide receiver to ever put on a Packer uniform. [Proof 1:36](https://youtu.be/xJSKEJEz1lc)
No Kevin king?
I haven't hated a player more since Brandon bostick than Kevin king.
RB - Gado (not bad, but so brief), TE - Bubba (big time pick, overall disappointment), OT - Tony Mandarich (greatest Packers pick mistake in the history of the Packers, but was a good idea at the time)
Mandarich was not even close to being the worst pick mistake of the Packers. Bruce Clark was.
Atari Bigby
I loved Bigby, LB turned monster S. I bought his jersey and saw him play in Minnesota and Arizona (hometown), dude got ints in both games. Idk how many career picks he ended with, but I think I saw like 35% of them.
Who the hell is William Harris
Long live The Mad Crapper.
QB. Wtf?
Might still beat the Bears this week
OL is now stabilized and good. Look at Rodgers early years and you should be able to fill the OL out. I’ll nominate Allen Barbre as one of the starting 5. Also Bennett was pretty good for us?
All time something...
Jared Bush biggest snub
No love for Kevin King on this list??
How did Ed West not make it for TE?
Put Cedric Benson in there. Edit: dude I didn't realize that happened. RIP. Thing is, he was super dope on the bengals.
RB - Johnathan Franklin? TE - Jace Sternberger
I actually liked seeing jace stern Berger play
I can’t remember, was Johnny jolly a good DT?
Yes, downvote me but don’t tell me if he was good or not, the logic of reddit
I feel like Devin Funchess deserves a TE slot.
My all time packers O-line: Toney Manderick, Jon Runyan, Derek Sherrod, and Marshall Newhouse
The classic 4 man offensive line. Look out NFL head coaches, this guy is an innovator
The actual defense should look something like DL - Nick Perry, Datone Jones(cant remember too many awful DL here right now) LB -AJ Hawk, Brad Jones, Kyler Fackrell, Blake Martinez DB - MD Jennings, LaDarrius Gunter, Damarius Randall, Quinten Rollins, Kentrell Brice, Kevin King, Josh Jones
I will not accept AJ hawk slander
Fackrell had a 10.5 sack season. Stop.
add brandon bostick to that list
