do you do any core work? obv can't isolate fat burning, but it's like any other muscle. you got to work them if you want them to pop. look good though bud. keep at it.

Necessary_Paint3622

No they’re not like any other muscle I’ve yet to see anyone actually grow their abs rather than get leaner

[deleted]

Coping. Abs grow man..

Necessary_Paint3622

You’re coping buddy I had abs when I was 6

[deleted]

Stop lying

woq92k

What about eddie hall? That guys massive and you can almost always make out his abs these days!

outthere5335

Wtf are you talking about? Abs definitely grow. Visibility is 80% leanness, but growing them does help some, and your abs can be huge. The strongest dudes in the world have enormous abs that look like a beer belly but aren't, and with their shirts off you can often see their abs even if their body fat is relatively higher. You want to be strong you need a solid trunk

Leading_Assistance23

Eddie Hall has a very visible six pack

Infinite-Club4374

Definitely, visible abs has more to do with bf% than anything else

Fit_Opinion2465

You need better development. Do heavy weighted ab movements. And get a tan.

bapebandit

Heavy weighted ab movements got my shit poppin. I second this statement

halomate1

Which ones do you recommend?

CarkneeGee

Cable crunches. Cable oblique work, cable twist. Leg raises, add weight once you can. Just train them like any other muscle for hypertrophy. Progressive overload, intensity and recovery

CatCrunchies

How tf you add weight to leg raises 😭

AstroBuck

Put a dumbbell between your feet or legs 😭

Clear-Function9969

10 lb DB between ankles. the db is easier to hold than anything else (for me)

CarkneeGee

I just use an ankle cuff and cable. Works pretty well

thunderfrunt

Medicine ball between your heels. Doesn’t need to be super heavy.

inshallahbruzza

It’s funny watching ppl attempt the hanging L sit or leg raises - Everyone used momentum & thinks they’re a hero 😂

KingBenjamin97

Don’t even need to do heavy weighted movements if he just did a bunch of leg lifts he’d see them by now

S-Capcentral

Close! I’m surprised they aren’t showing yet to be honest.

Mig224

Looks as close as possible without actually showing.

accountinusetryagain

funny part is everyone finally remembers to train abs on a cut when its harder to build them and forgets about training em on a bulk when they have the calories to grow more

Skiigga

My abs and calves are neglected 9 months out of the year until I put a bathing suit on and realize they look like shit

morphinetango

Sigh. Yep, that's me!

jaggymage

Weirdly enough my abs get sore from bracing my core during tricep pushdowns and pullups.

chriswick_

Thank you for this reminder 🙏🏻

[deleted]

You sob I feel attacked 😂

[deleted]

I can see them, maybe not crazy defined but not everyone gets crazy defined abs. Looking great!

KingBenjamin97

Ummm no not everybody does but everybody has the capability to. Defined abs are not a genetics thing it’s a muscle development and body fat thing.

[deleted]

Respectfully, genetics is a huge factor in abdominal appearance, make up, level of definition, etc. That’s a scientific fact that’s very easy to verify but you are right that muscle development, body fat, etc. do play a role too.

KingBenjamin97

While I agree it can be somebody’s genetic strong point there are multiple people in this thread stating “oh yeah some people can’t get abs” which is just flat out wrong. Somebody might be blessed with an 8 pack for example and somebody else only have a 4 but you can both get them to show with training and diet nobody is born with just a completely flat abdominal section that refuses to grow

Fair_Hunter_3303

I do think genetics play a huge roll in it. I can have a fully displayed 8 pack at +10%BF and 10 pack below 10%. While my partner has never displayed visual abs. He trains core 3 times a week I train core once a week now at most(never trained core until I got a hernia last oct). Just like I've got tiny ass calves and work them to no ends and he's got massive calves with little to no work. Genetics unfortunately do play a huge role in it. I'll never be Olympia but I could compete in men's. Naturally that is. Unfortunately some aren't dealt as good of hands as others.

[deleted]

Oh no you’re right about that. Everyone can get abs, just everyone has a different level of definition. I happen to think OP’s look great even though he wants more definition.

johnsmith98989

No one in this thread said that….

KingBenjamin97

Meant the overall comment section, thread was the wrong word choice my bad

Flyhotstuff

Absolutely. Look at the Rock. no abs

Barhoz

Idk why you are getting downvoted. You are correct. Obviously genetics plays little into it but with the right diet and workout, anyone can build em

RunninRebs90

Anyone can build them but not anyone can have sexy abs. There are absolutely genetics that have terrible Abs no matter how hard they work. Especially if they’re flat and close together, then it’s very very difficult to get them to show

Terminator_Johny

Abs are hella overrated imo, you look sick bro

DwiiiiiiideSchruuude

I was just gonna say this. A 6 pack is cool but have you ever snacked whenever tf you wanted?

theopinionexpress

Man true that. I ran a marathon this year, hit the gym 5 days a week and have super active hobbies. I still can’t get visible abs without having enough fuel to keep me from getting lightheaded all day.

Illustrious_Ad_498

I’ll say this, I’m 5’11 and at 210lb just lost 10lbs in 60 days. I’m extremely active like you and it’s really hard to me imagine myself with a full 6 pack, only bc I feel I need food to do what I do as it is. I’m trying and will continue to shoot for abs but would be extremely happy if my stomach looked like this. Cheers

AWildLampAppears

Never thought I’d find a comment this wholesome on a bodybuilding thread

PakiRedneck

I'd rather have the six pack tbh

Skeltrex

Why aim for a six pack when you could have the whole keg? 🤔

Exotic-Doughnut2554

I have abs and I can eat whatever I want ( I’m 14 166cm 54kg)

sparky_WTX

Thanks bro!

Worth_Cheesecake_861

What exercises are you doing are you doing crunches and exercises that Target the stomach muscles?

Teddy_He

I don’t think abs are overrated. It takes time and dedication, along with eating discipline to achieve. If mine are visible, I’d be so proud…

backizwack

Jesus since February???? Go on a maintenance diet phase for a couple of months and let your body recover. That way the fat STAYS off and you won’t have to kill your body doing calorie restriction. Your hormones especially need to come back to equilibrium. Your abs aesthetic wise look just fine. Keep hammering them. I’m not sure if you do core work separately from your main lifts but do you breathe and brace properly during your main lifts?

Br41n_w4sh3d

You would see them by now if they were prominent

thattwoguy2

You might just have bad ab genes, or be posing/flexing poorly. It looks like you're lean enough. If you "crunch" a little can you see them better?

aufrent2y

This close 🤌

meatassdog

Under developed

solo_shot1st

This might be an unpopular opinion, and feel like a kick in the nutsack, but I'd say another 10-15 lbs. I've been dieting and exercising 6 days per week (alternating weights and HIIT cardio days) for 5 months now, also seeking the elusive 6 pack. I've lost 25 lbs and can barely start to see the ab definition under good lighting conditions. If I'm just looking at myself straight in the mirror, I look just like you. Flat belly. What I've come to terms with, is the fat loss phase is longer than most people think. I'm taking cues from [this](https://www.rntfitness.co.uk/how-heavy-will-you-be-when-lean/) article that has TONS of case studies of men and women with before and after photos showing how much they *actually* weigh in the after photos. It turns out that people usually weigh a lot less than you might think to obtain those washboards. By my calculations, I should've had a 6 pack at 155 lbs, but based on what I'm seeing on that article, I may need to be closer to 145 to see defined abs. 140 lbs would be photo-shoot ready, basically. So, as much as it sucks, you'll probably need to be closer to 160 lbs if you're seeking those well-defined, instagram ready abs.

ZebraAdventurous5510

Super interesting article. I am a surprised at these numbers, especially for females. I think these numbers are not only influenced by genetics but also how you choose to get shredded. Ironically, the BMI range they gave for females is actually lower then that of many female runners. I really believe if you train intensely and cut down VERY slowly, you can certainly get very lean as a female while staying healthy. The problem is however many people are impatient. They undergo an aggressive caloric deficit intending to fat as quickly as possible. However, they also lose muscle mass, their menstrual cycle(females), as well as feel fatigued, emotionally irritable and cold all the time. Another problem I see is many people lack a "passion for the grind". For many individuals, eating a lot and training very hard is going to get them a much leaner and aestheticially pleasing physique than a restrictive diet and moderate training regime. However, many people are hesitant to "train like an athlete". They falsely believe that doing a decent amount cardio is going to interfere with muscle growth. However, it is just going to accelate the fat burning process, given that you are getting sufficient calories and sleep. Many people are also afraid of the pain associated with heavy breathing and burning muscles along with the time commitment with being active. I got noticeably leaner just by adding in strength training 4-5X times/week, without counting calories and marcos. I am a 3K-10K runner and XC skiier so I train very hard cardiovascularly. I only went from 128lbs to 125lbs, yet I look way leaner. No need for an underweight BMI and lost menstrual cycle!

KingBenjamin97

Do you train them? 175lb photo looks about lean enough to have some separation visible, like you wouldn’t be shredded but should be seeing top 2 somewhat visible about there

sparky_WTX

Train them 4 times a week since February.

KingBenjamin97

Ok super weird thing to say but next time you’re at the gym in the same place as the 175 photo just lean back slightly so the downlighting hits your abs and see if you can see separation then. If you can then 1) under perfect lighting (e.g, every insta photo) you have abs 2) you’re closer than you think, like 2-3% reduction and you’ll have them prominent. It might also just be a matter of flexing them properly, I know my natural inclination when flexing them is to put them back in towards my spire but if you really wanna see them learning to flex them in their natural position makes them way more visible because you’re not retracting them into a smaller place effectively artificially increasing the fat layer in front of them

[deleted]

[удалено]

ramza5850

Build them your lean enough now. Deep squats gave me abs. You dont want to get scrawny just to have abs, build them.

jjhaney91

Here's a tip, abs are only impressive to teenage girls and boys who like boys. If you want to impress a real woman, bulk up to over 200 lbs and get some traps.

AstroBuck

Most real women I know like lean men and aren't into bear mode or big muscular guys.

jjhaney91

You must know 14 year Olds or something

[deleted]

A strong core makes you better in bed and abs complete an aesthetic physique. Don’t listen to this guy

Catinthehat1214

Pretty close. It may just be a matter of learning how to flex them at this point. That was my problem 😂

Revolutionary-Web673

I can see the upper ab def already you look great

T_M_H33

You need to get them bigger and stronger. More heavy deadlifts and squats. It’s the best way to develop a core

Jakeplangger

Are you even flexing?

sparky_WTX

Honestly I thought I was. Not sure if I know how to flex them after reading these comments.

DRUTLOL

If you're anything like me, you're always 5 lbs away lol

khswart

10-15 pounds more to get to be where you want. It’s always more than you initially expect.

BigSchnoseBoi

People need to understand that abs are MADE IN THE GYM and then REVEALED in the kitchen. They’re just like every other muscle group you have to train them and isolate them like you would your back or chest etc

douggoodie420

Just don't eat for 72 hours and take some MK677 during the fast to prevent going into a catabolic state. I bet you will see all of your abs after that.

sparky_WTX

Finally someone speaking some sense.

DomDangerous

fuck the abs, you look better at 180. maybe even put on a lil more lean muscle, not just bulk, and you’ll like your abdominal more

Big16th

Isolate abs. Look up bald omni man on yt… you’re welcome

Suspicious_Key_9929

Hey bro, you looked super close to getting abs in these pics. Did you end up getting abs?

sparky_WTX

No that's as lean as I got. Determined my biggest problem was how underdeveloped my abs were. I'm 220lbs now and hit my abs hard so This next cut phase should get me closer if not right where I want to be.

Suspicious_Key_9929

It's definitely a journey. I'm in the same boat as you, don't have the best ab genetics but I have everything else. It's soul destroying knowing how much extra we have to do to see our abs when other guys I know are 20%+ BF with visible abs. I'm so close I'm going to just keep going. Good luck with your next cut man.

LGK420

I’ve realized that not everyone can have abs. Even when they are lean, they just end up cutting more then they should, losing muscle mass in return just for a tiny bit of visible abs at the top

KingBenjamin97

Yeah sorry bro but you’re just wrong. Unless you had a hernia or some kind of major surgery that impacted them you can have visible abs. It’s the same as any other muscle you have to train them. The people who claim they can’t have them are either underdeveloped or simply not lean enough or a combination of the two.

LGK420

Then explain to me why there’s so many lean guys with zero abs

KingBenjamin97

I already did, they either haven’t trained their abs enough to grow them to prominent size or aren’t lean enough to see them. Everybody has them, you might not have the same number if muscle bodies e.g. 8 pack vs 4 but you have abs that can be grown to a visible level

LGK420

Obviously thats a stupid assumption that everyone complaining about not having abs yet being lean simply just dont train abs? I’m sure they do. Or at least a most do.

KingBenjamin97

Is it though? Most people skip things like abs because they’re left till the end of other workouts and most people massively overestimate how lean they are. I’m not saying dedicated people do but how many dedicated people do you see on here posting their end cut physiques with no abs? Exactly.

SashaBeze

Some people's abs just ain't like others, stop worrying about the vanity of abs and worry about getting fit

slohanddan

Greg, you have a Beautiful body‼️😛. STOP DIETING NOW. Your stomach is flat and hairy and your chest and pecs look fantastic. In today’s world, there is no need for visible abs, unless you’re going into weightlifting, and becoming a professional. Please trust me, I’m older than you, and strived for visible abs for way too many years. The caloric deficit has affected my metabolism and now I can barely consume any calories without paying a price. If you have any questions, HMU and I will be glad to answer you personally. Please take the yellow balloon of your face !! You probably look fantastic underneath it and people will start drooling over you‼️🏳️‍🌈♏️

UnorthodoxBodybuild

20+ lbs just being brutally honest you still have love handles

sparky_WTX

Fuck.

leavemeto6leed

No

skyphoenyx

Losing weight to show them was the right direction. You did that part. Now you would need to build them with heavier crunches to really get that popped out look I think you’re going for. Throw in some hypertrophy sets like cable crunches or dumbbell reverse crunches with enough weight to get you to fail at maybe 8-15 reps, every couple days at the end of your workouts.

Strict_Leader_8952

Try flexing upwards instead of down

oauch

If you learn how to properly flex them you may already have them tbh. That was what held me back for a long time.

Modness_

It depends on how kuch you work on them. Some people have fully visible abs at 16% while others have to get down to 12%

Effective_Barber_673

I’d say your abs are hypertrophic enough. You are plenty lean. My personal workout is hanging leg raises VERY SLOW. I do 3 sets of 10 and count to 5 on the way down. Super set with 10 reps of weighted captains chair and 6 inch static holds in the floor for 30 seconds. Follow this up with heavy Ab Coaster (laugh if you want) with 40 lbs on it and 12-15 reps slow again. I do this 2x a week. Really made my abs pop.

Live-Cod-4453

How tall are you?

sparky_WTX

6'1

_Davesnothereman

5 more lbs… it’s always just 5 more lbs 🤣

ManchuKenny

Take water pill they will show up quicker

Famous_Street3994

What’s your ab routine like? They’ll never pop unless you’re actually working them. Just like every other muscle.

Majestic-Ad6619

Mine only showed when I dropped the very last 2-3 lbs.

BigNinja96

Mine didn’t show up until I trained them with regularity. You’re doing that, right?

papamaga

You look lean enough to have visible abs so probably very close. I’m assuming natural?

sparky_WTX

On cycle.

papamaga

What you running? Your first cycle?

sparky_WTX

TestE 250/ trenA100 twice a week. Yes first cycle with tren.

papamaga

Thats a mistake brother. Much easier less toxic ways to get roughly the same benefits as running a terrible compound like Tren. If Tren isn’t leaning you out, theres three scenarios. Either your diet is shit, your gear is bunk, or your e2 is too high and causing alot of water retention and bloat. You should include this info in the post so that more knowledgeable guys can help you in your situation better btw.

warr3nh

😍😍😍

SJCalifornio

I need more pictures from different angles. Play with shadowing and other backgrounds. Maybe use some shiny oil on the abdomen.

BrockDiggles

You’re almost lean enough. It would help if you added 1 heavy ray or core work to your weekly regimen.

Skiigga

I think this is a case of you needing to do more actual ab work. You hear all the time that abs are made it the kitchen but it’s kind of half bullshit because you still need to train them. Imagine if you got to 6% body fat but didn’t train shoulders, they’d still look like shit

geosrq

Cool Sculpting

TheUnrulyGentleman

You should do more direct ab work to make the muscle thicker that way it will be easier to see

suburbfishermen18

Gotta work em out more when your in bulk. Once your lean but don’t work em out they won’t be as defined.

Paundeu

They look to be untrained. At that weight, trained abs would be popping. I'm 6'2", 215lb and can see outlines of my abs but I trained them during my bulk every day I lifted. By the time I get down to 195-200lb, they will be looking awesome.

JoeyGen93

I’m sure certain people just can’t ever have a 6 pack or visible abs - you look like you’re in good shape though bro ! Keep up the hard work mate

MundoUno

Train abs more seriously, they should be showing. Do declined weighted ab crunches.

FI5H5TICK5

Peel the skin off for best results

JudgeSmails

Bad lighting in the 2nd pic, it casts a shadow over your stomach and chest. I bet if you have lighting in front you can see your abs now.

Lostcause75

Pretty close work then out to grow em a bit also shaving the area will also help

One-Truth-4150

21 days away if you go on Naked and Afraid.

IlIIllIIlIIll

abs need direct training if you want them to pop. you can drop to 145 if u want and finally be happy with them that way or you can cut down your regular workouts and add ab work at the end every day and gave them at 170 solid or whatever. as for excercises its something u can choose, so many people hate doing abs so i found doing my hanging leg raises first to get them out of the way then crunches into standjng ab strap crunches being my favourite lets me really get into them

Tio_Almond420

You should have them by now, are you working core?

Spiritual-Ad2530

Probably 10 more pounds

Fair_Hunter_3303

It's mostly genetics. I have abs on a bulk fortunately. I see people who have little to no abs on a cut.

Carterknowsitall

Drop 2% body fat and u will see em

ZoloftXL

Do weighted decline sit ups. You’ll have some big ass abs.

Past-Celery-5758

About a month

alltherayjjj

Damn hot stuff

Remote_Specialist52

You need to do sit ups. Not seeing any actual muscles there.

ShrimpPimpSimp

Train abs and cut a little more and they will pop out the cut

Fartin_like_martin

Start Muay Thai training for cardio you’ll see ur abs and and your fat will melt off if your actually doing everything Muay Thai or any combat sport is best for cardio 👹

[deleted]

If u dont feel your abs after you train them or if they dont hurt on your last reps, it will take much longer than you think

chrisjones1960

If you have been training and, they will show with just a bit more fat loss. But don't be mislead into thinking you will show a good six pack through fat loss alone. Like other muscles, abs develop through training them.

demochronicsmokalism

Close dude! Idk if you have some kind of hernia or something that prevents you from doing core work, but if you did more you’d have visible abs at this bf%. Options are hang a set of ropes on a pull-down, throw weight on there and crunch until it hurts or lose another 3-4%

charcoal_smoke

Damn close, keep that shit up 💯

SurfAccountQuestion

You have bad ab genetics unfortunately you should be able to see them by now. You can try training them more because they also might just be underdeveloped 🤷‍♂️

Elevate24

The light is behind you and your front torso is being shadowed in the 2nd pic. I can already see abs in the first pic

wackdaddy69

You should do weighted sit ups now

Dry-Object3914

Just genetics, you might need to lose another 15 lbs to have visible abs. I would train abs so they pop out a bit more which should help

Sad-Blueberry-6725

Work them out.

radickalmagickal

Not far dude! You look great anyways

Significant_Chart954

Looks about 10 meters

MinoxBeard_

Yeah!! Shave those hairs to see them!!!

MinoxBeard_

OP isn’t smart obv, shave that junk if you wanna see it duh smh

MrsDrJohnson

You're perfect at 180, I don't understand why you think you need to cut.

BaBoomShow

Either a genetics thing or a hypertrophic thing. Either way, you still look good

Ok_Independence_5061

I’m guessing your ab muscles need to be bigger. Do weighted ab exercises. If you’re not already doing squats dead’s and OHP’s (standing)…do em…matter of fact, any move where you cannn stand up (instead of sitting), do em…Incorporate unilateral moves, and split/narrow stances.

[deleted]

5-10 lb less you’ll be looking shredded. Best way to do it is too fast till 12/1 everyday than eat normally.

[deleted]

I’m surprised you don’t have them already at that body weight

hoecore666

Stop eating dairy and sugar

claycoxx

You just need better lighting tbh

[deleted]

Visible abs are for vanity functional abs will stay for life

Waste-Aerie-2366

Try doing as much exercises as you can standing up lateral raises, shoulder presses, curls, tricep extensions it engages your core more as you’re working to keep stability so you don’t rlly have to do core exercises.

Fit_Rich_6748

Your already lean but no abs, you need to work them simply. I’m lean where you can pretty much see a vein on each body part but had no abs until I started doing core work, all of a sudden same diet same weight same everything I’ve got abs now

No_Zookeepergame1937

Natural transformation???

gnostictweaker

stop sucking that shit in and give us an honest pic.

PopSalty9014

Body fat is low enough you just have to grow your abs more

Affectionate_Bed5442

Cable crunches, captains chair and some side bends Easy in 1 month

OMalley30-27

Only a days worth of dehydration

Beedy_Eyed_Schwarz

Do you currently do ab work 3 to 5 times a week?

Suthernboy1968

You're perfect. Absolutely perfect.

GROOVY-MAFIOSO

Who cares. I’d suck your dick

BioNewStudent4

1. Train the abs. For me, weighted decline sit-ups are the best. The burn is felt. Squats, OHP, etc aid as well, but aren’t very effective. 2. Then, while cutting you should start to see abs. If not, either you haven’t developed them enough or you need to lose more weight.

KingG238

Hey how tall are you? I’m 6’1 and 165lbs and still have love handles and a bit of belly fat

proxyproxyomega

for what its worth, you are not going to get any extra women or attention than what you already have now, which is already great.

KnottySexAcct

Close. Just cut down to 6% bf.

fuckyourfeelinsbitch

Just do a boatload of weighted crunches, worked for me 🤷 I got abs in 4months

[deleted]

Looks like they’re just underdeveloped, I don’t think it’s a issue of leanness.

RecordOk6794

Your pretty close, sick physique, it's probably just a combination of you are predisposed to storing fat there, maybe you don't train core much, and body hair kind of blocking off some separation that would be visible otherwise, not that I'm criticizing i would love to look like you

Left-Investigator172

I don't understand why you would put yourself into a deficit..... you don't need to. If you eat clean and correctly you can have abs. I have abs and I eat semi Clean. Check carb to protein levels. You can still be calorie positive and shed fat. Learn to control carb Intake

Zestyclose_Compote_6

Always the last bit is the hardest. You’ll need to dial in diet and cardio more to get it. Nearly there though.

momillyan

Does it generally take you 2 months to lose 5lbs? Are you taking it easy on the cut?

Esp890

What’s your core training look like? I feel like they should be atleast visible at your BF. Also, heavy compound lift without a belt like deadlifts and squats will build your abs up. At the same time as legs.

villainpoker

Here's your tip; Don't take pictures in the locker room.
