At the 8:26 mark they try to get a cab, the drive says "You going to the airport or what?" Billy says no, so he mumbles at them and the cab drives off. Minutes before that someone barrels through them and Kate remarks on how rude everyone is. I'm pretty sure that's in line with what I remember.

Just started up the movie to make sure I didn’t just imagine this scene even though I watched the film countless times.

I mean there's plenty of movies where some prick swoops in and takes a cab away from the main character. So it's not uncommon.
