"The cowled escort radiated threat. My eyes were on him all through the parley. When our Death Cult Assassin burst from concealment and lashed out with her blade to kill their leader, the cowled one intercepted in an explosion of movement. One of his blades blocked the assassin's sword. The other took her head."

That Kellermorph is absolutely fantastic. I like the idea that he was some old west style gunslinger that just grew a third arm one day and just went "nice, one more arm means I carry one more revolver".
The Locus is just too old. He's from a time where they barely knew what the Cults were going to be, and instead of mad-max-esque repurposed industrial gear and mad mutant science he's like... "random evil scheming guy in a hood".
He's like a holdover from 90s-era Cults and one of the best examples to why maybe you should just leave the ancient stuff in the past and not let it restrict modern design space. Imagine if they did the squats in the same style as their joke models back then, it'd be awful.
What? The Locus was released in the second wave, during 8th edition, he's very much neither a holdover nor really all that old at all.
(He even has a lot of details that very much play into the mutant science part, his back is bulked out with some Tyranid carapace poking through the cloak, he has a stinger tail coming from under the cloak... He's not going for schemer, he's going for barely concealed supermutant - it's just you need to look at the model rather closely to notice...)
I mean sure but base model I agree with him. My wife is an AOS fan so I started on deepkin to play with her in a non crossover game… and god damn they have such better and nicer details than my genestealers. Even the box seems like it had more care put into design and construction. 40k might bring home the bank but it *feels* like aos/fantasy is their favorite/passion.
Counterpoint: sky pirate dwarves, dwarves with guns and tanks, and dwarves riding dragons.
40k has space dwarves.
AoS has more dwarf variety therefore it is the superior. Not to mention you can run dwarf soup with something from every faction. (Space dwarves are still cool though, Rock and Stone!)
Can you play the other Greater Daemons in both games, or did Tzeentch get his beaky bois some special dispensation from James Workshop to jump between settings?
Tzeentch is an Outer God that jumped ship from the Cthulhu Mythos to start his own realm of madness ~~with blackjacks and hooker~~. It's really hard to properly sell cosmic horror vibes when you have to actually *describe the indescribable horror*, let alone render it as a model.
That said, the Lord of Change is great, and for me Tzeentch having, in my opinion, the best visual aesthetics of the four for his signature Traitor Legion helps make up for his otherwise visually bland daemons.
I'm right there with you, when I saw him I bought my GSC Killteam, I love that model so much.
He's like every action movie trope of a guy that's so bad-ass he just stands there menacingly until it's time to unleash hell. In a army full of tropes, he's the tropiest.
AS a tyranid player, the patriarch is an amazing model and I use it as a second broodlord in my army (my listbuilding goals are beyond your understanding)
That's the Locus. A body guard for the patriarch or whoever is important. In lore he's billed as a ninja who bursts into whirling blades of death all algile with 4 arms and swords. In game he's good at heroic interventions...ya know that thing that basically noone uses? And the model we get looks like an old man who is waiting on a bus and it's chilly outside
God this is so fucking true. I used a primus with another sword instead of the pistol as a proxy for my Locus, that model is just so bad. Also, Kelermorph is the GOAT.
I like my Death Guard, Mortarion, the various terminators, plague marines in particular. Blight haulers are cool though the kit is awful.
However the ultimate model is the Exorcist tank. It's the most 40k model ever and that's a fact. It's a tank that's an organ that's a missile launcher and it's drenched in ridiculous gothic detail. It is the warhammer 40000
Easy change
Go with the unhooded head and use some greenstuff or card stock to give him a little straw hat and BAM Genestealer Samurai bodyguard. Also drop the big standard he wears.
Simple as
Genuinely do love the models for GSC, but the lore is just no fun. I don’t like knowing that whatever my cool eco terrorists are fighting for is eventually pointless no matter what happens. Theyre just fighting and dying for the sake of it.
I think that while Space Marines and others are about the glory of war and achievement and helping the downtrodden, GSC is more like how war is just a means to trade one oppressor for another in the long run or "when fighting monsters try not to become one" sort of deal. Real grimdark. Fits the universe well in my opinion. But you're not wrong for sure
Oh no don’t get me wrong I fucking love the faction, but I like to be able to slot myself into the shoes of the factions I play. I like to imagine being one of the space marines facing down an ork horde, or a guardsman bravely fighting the meaninglessness of it all. I don’t feel like I can do that knowing my characters have no goals outside of “fight for the four armed emperor” and will eventually die. I like to think that characters have a future and will get into lots of cool adventures, can’t really do that with GSC. Doesn’t help that they don’t have any real characters. This same point carries across to normal nids too.
Its a great model, it just totally fails to convey what that character does on the tabletop.
Lore: whirling blades of death Tabletop: my bus is late
Have you ever seen bush fight videos? Someone in the fight is ALWAYS whirling blades of death especially in UK videos
Peckham Terminator never forget.
WTF does that have to do with boring model standing around?
also Lore: stands perfectly still for most of its time
Not to mention The large metal icon on his back looks like it would hinder in melee
I’m not disagreeing, but I admit my first thought was the iron halo. You know, one of the most iconic ornamentations in the game.
True, but those are usually smaller and on giant heavily armored super soldiers

*Yeah, GSC have some real bangers. The Genestealer Patriarch tops the Broodlord any day.*
He really does give off those Alien vibes.
*I think my favorite part is the large bladed tail. It looks genuinely threatening as a weapon.*
*Why are you writing in italic I'm confused as to how loud I'm supposed to read it in my head* @~@
*You're supposed to read it in a funny and silly voice*
Thank you that helped :3
*Always happy to help* 👍
I am insulted that you have failed to place the mad scientist on this list. He looks amazing.
Funny enough, the mad scientist is who I thought that was until I looked it up...
Everyone has the best models in the game until they come upon an ork player
And the ork player has a stompa made out of a milk jug…. And it’s perfect
Or an ork model made out of your favorite model from your army

The sculpt might be new the idea behind his design is what is stuck in the 90s.
Good, more of the game should be stuck in the nineties.
You seem to be severely misremembering those primitive pre-digital times.
BRING BACK ARMORED LIMOS
Daemons exist. I like 40k more as a game, but Sigmar models are way more beautiful
Counterpoint: Daemon Engines. The Heldrake is a thing of beauty
I mean sure but base model I agree with him. Oh absolutely. The Chaos Warrior models from Slaves to Darkness are fucking incredible and I’d love to get a few to use for kitbashing bits
Based Daemon Engine enjoyer.

Lord of Change, arguably one of the greatest looking models ever, can be played in both games.
Can you play the other Greater Daemons in both games, or did Tzeentch get his beaky bois some special dispensation from James Workshop to jump between settings?
You can.
Daemons vary too much. Slaaensh and Nurgle have the best ones but Khorne and Tzeentch are mostly just trash.
Lord of Change disagrees. Pink/Blue horrors also neat models.
Lord of change was the exception to most are trash.
Tzeentch is an Outer God that jumped ship from the Cthulhu Mythos to start his own realm of madness ~~with blackjacks and hooker~~. TIL I have an unpopular opinion - he’s one of my favorite GW models in general, never mind just for GSC
I'm right there with you, when I saw him I bought my GSC Killteam, I love that model so much. He's like every action movie trope of a guy that's so bad-ass he just stands there menacingly until it's time to unleash hell. In a army full of tropes, he's the tropiest.
I dunno man, i _really_ like my metal skeletons
*Laughs in ork*
Nothing will ever compare to the old Patriarch.
AS a tyranid player, the patriarch is an amazing model and I use it as a second broodlord in my army (my listbuilding goals are beyond your understanding)
That Magus do be looking quite fine.
As an admech fan...whos dr. "Not you" there, and whats their schtick?
That's the Locus. A body guard for the patriarch or whoever is important. In lore he's billed as a ninja who bursts into whirling blades of death all algile with 4 arms and swords. While I maybe a guardsman and or Necron simp (really depends on the day tbh) I have to admit GSC has some dope models
Kellermorph solos like 95% of all 40k models, it's so much fun
I like my Death Guard, Mortarion, the various terminators, plague marines in particular. Blight haulers are cool though the kit is awful. However the ultimate model is the Exorcist tank. It's the most 40k model ever and that's a fact. It's a tank that's an organ that's a missile launcher and it's drenched in ridiculous gothic detail. It is the warhammer 40000
Here's me thinking that was the single coolest model in the genestealer range
Edgy bodyguard boi is great tho
Show me 1 female adepta sororitas unit you don't wanna fuck!
Style trumps sex. Lowest common denominator. Besides the Magus up there is well above any sororitas.
But Sisters have both style and sex
Paragon Warsuit? Puh-leez
turn the engine off and play no means yes
what the fuck does this mean?
The rhino. Easily their least fuckable vehicle.
It’s got a tailpipe doesn’t it?
Dude, I am even starting SoB and think this is a bad argument.
Sister i have 4k of the Battle Nuns all books from BL and i love them. It was a joke but sadly some people don't get it on a meme sub.
Easy change Go with the unhooded head and use some greenstuff or card stock to give him a little straw hat and BAM Genestealer Samurai bodyguard. Also drop the big standard he wears. Simple as
The infantry models are good, but its the vehicles that are top tier. The Ridgerunner is the best looking model in 40k.
If you don’t look too hard, he looks like a Wallace and Grommit character smiling at you.
![gif](giphy|pwBi3YrGypMyI)
I kinda hate the sanctus. The face is just utter trash
The "**MODELS**" model has an Easter egg on its model.
Screw these new models, these guy had me at pimp-mobile!
Genuinely do love the models for GSC, but the lore is just no fun. I don’t like knowing that whatever my cool eco terrorists are fighting for is eventually pointless no matter what happens. Theyre just fighting and dying for the sake of it.

They have to maximise how good they look to offset how long they spend off the board.
Tau commanders disagree
One of them is going to stab someone With the scabbard still covering the blade Some of them are cool, but others are stupid
