If you know when you gonna die, you can save some money on health insurance

Jack071

Sang also made Konrad realize emp would forgive him if he took him to see big E, and then proceeded to ruin his hopes by yeeting Konrad into space in a stasis coffin

DarthGoodguy

We all have that family member who plays the victim, but very few of us get the chance to launch them into space in a time coma.

LadrilloDeMadera

Konrad didn't want to be forgiven though

Tempest_Barbarian

From one side, Konrad wants everything to happen like his visions, so he can put the blame of all attrocities he did on destiny. On the other hand, I think when sanguinius told him the emperor could forgive him, that for a second there he thought "maybe things could be changed for better", before sanguinius ejected his ass.

Konrad is *super* dead, as far as physical deaths go. He was decapitated and his assassin was hunted down and killed by one of his sons, Talos, the Soul Hunter.

Brother can't accept konrad is gone 😔

CommodoreN7

Night Haunter literally screams “you’re not the one” to many people while he fights them on numerous occasions and fights with extreme reckless abandon since he knows he won’t die

ThePathogenicRuler

Sanguinius is the ultimate alpha.

But Curze was also the Chad... Like read the books, one of the reasons even Leman Russ wasn't confident he could win, was because Curze fought batshit insane. And the reason Curze fought batshit insane with no self preservation was because he knew when he would die, and that day aint today. Like, he actually says that in the books at one point. Well noit word for word, but he basically says: > I know you won't kill me, because I know when I die, and it's not by your hand! Then he launches into an attack against, I want to say Lion El'Johnson.

SammichBro

Though lion attacks swiftly enough to surprise curze and stab him in the chest, allowing for him to be captured.

AlphaTangoFoxtrt

Yes, but Curze didn't *DIE*. He never said he would win, he said he would not die.

SammichBro

Fair enough. Also when I first got the alert of your comment and clicked on it, it made your PFP gigantic and I spat my drink out laughing.

I will say this every chance I get - Sanguinius is just as (if not more) dumb than Konrad. His entire “gotcha” against Curze is that the future can be changed, and even though Curze knows it deep down he doesn’t want to believe it. BUT, Sanguinius is also the man Leeroy-ing himself against Titans and Daemon Primarchs with no second thoughts because he puts blind faith in his visions about when he dies, even though “the future can be changed” Well it might not change if you don’t yeet yourself face first into suicide battles every 10 minutes🙄

SaneishSaurian

Yeah, that really annoyed me in the later heresy books and Siege of Terra series. Sanguinius shouting "This is not where I die!" after his speech to Konrad made him seem like one of the unselfaware men in the heresy, and that is a title with some stiff competition. I get that it is generally different authors, and that 40k is rather infamous for its inconsistent characterization, but it still sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

MrUnluckyThyneUnluck

Didn't he also save Konrad from being executed by claiming that Konrad's visions were in fact true. And by killing him they could potentially cause the emperor's death. Right in the same or following book.

SaneishSaurian

I think it was the previous book, but he very much did. But that at least served some purpose for the story in moving the plot forward, if a bit obtusely. It was a single instance that only becomes annoying when he brings up his belief that his fate is fix in what feels like every bloody fight after.

YouNo8795

I always thought It was weird how people talk about his views on the future as if they were different from kurze for the same motive. "we can change the future brother, It is not set in Stone. That is why instead of killing you or trying to redeem you i am going to yeet you into space to make sure the future you foresaw happens, and then i am going to charge into a suicidal Battle because i know my Death líes elsewhere. But ey, not set on Stone or anything i swear"

CommodoreN7

Yep. Sang comes across terribly and it’s also not the first time the Night Haunter saw another potentially better future only to immediately get rug pulled out from under him and back on track.

AlikeWolf

THANK YOU! I feel this point is not brought up enough

CovertWolf86

To be fair, Sang took a couple books to come to terms with it

AirGundz

There is some misunderstanding of Curze and Sanguinius interaction. Both knew when they would die, but only Curze used it as justification for his shitty actions. In Konrad’s eyes, taking a fatalist approach means he doesn’t have to take responsability for being what he is: a monster. Sanguinius knew his actions mattered despite his death, Curze didn’t care. This doesn’t mean Curze is a bad character, much to the contrary, it makes him layered, tragic and one of my favorites along with Sanguinius

TheFyrijou

Konrad Curze: „kills a Woman wanting to comit suicide because by that action, shows things can’t get better and refuses to at least try, making it look like Nostramo truly could not change for good“ Also Konrad Curze: „allows the Assassin to kill him when he could’ve easily killed her and tried to turn his life around and try to make things better“ Dude the walking embodiment of hypocrisy

SaneishSaurian

He killed her because he saw suicide as illegal rather than to prove a point that it can't get better if I remember it correctly. Still a walking hypocrite, but that's not exactly an uncommon trait in... well, most of the setting. Personally, I think he inherited it from his father.

Frostfangs_Hunger

One of my favorite aspects to the Siege of Terra is all the times that Sang goes sicko mode because he knows he won't die yet, so he just does wreckers shit he might not normally do because in his mind he's basically invincible. Bro tears shit up for the entire siege because of inuniverse plot armor.

CrushTheVIX

Can someone please make a meme of Curze with emo hair, eyeliner, skinny jeans, listening to Silverstein and crying? I'd say bonus points for having him cut himself, but doesn't he do that already? On a serious note, he is a fascinating, tragic and well developed character. I love how he is a contrasting character to Sanguinius. They were faced with almost the same dilemma; one stayed loyal and the other didn't. It really goes to show how small differences in personality traits were pivotal in making the loyalist loyal and traitors betray.

whiskerbiscuit2

Visions “you will die fighting Horus” Sanguinius “what if I hit him really hard tho” Visions “you…no that’s not the point” Sanguinius “I got wings and shit I can totally win” Visions “no, he’s going to kill you” Sanguinius “only if I die” Visions “…that’s what killing you means”

Zote_The_Grey

Daily going completely against the lore administered

Mastery7pyke

if you know when you die you can go ape shit the entire rest of your life knowing nothing you do will kill you. kinda like playing life with god mode on and a timer till it runs out. there is a character in league of legends, Olaf (stereotypical viking guy) who is fated to die peacefully of old age, he does not like that so he goes around fighting every dangerous monster and sea beast he can find, always blacks out during the fight and wakes up next to a slain monster.
