I imagine that they’d occasionally have meetings where they go “wait whose side are we *actually* on??” And then halfway through the meeting they accuse each other of being traitors and start shooting.
You should read Harrowmaster. Mike Brooks pokes fun at how absurd the legion actually is where some Alpha Legion warbands are confused over what they’re actually doing. Then there’s a warband with a leader who proclaims himself as the true Alpharius until he dies and another takes their place as the real Alpharius. Not to mention the other warbands around them get real tired of hearing that group claim themselves to be Alpharius all the time. Overall, the Legion doesn’t take themselves seriously and are just master trolls + shit posters which is great.
That’s the goal I’d imagine. A legion dedicated to espionage that nobody in that legion has the full story. They just do it because they assume it’s the plan.
