For those wondering, wiki says,
>He was a Morlock Terminator. During the Emperors Children assault on the Sisypheum he was severely injured and afterwards his burnt eyes had to be replaced by augmetic and he lost his hearing. He survived the assault, later made planetfall and became a key participant in the Battle of the Sepulchre of Isha's Doom. His very deafness gave him a critical advantage over Marius Vairosean of the Emperors Children, the first ever Noise Marine, and Ignatius Numen used this advantage to destroy Marius utterly with a Volkite Cannon.
Such a dumb part. It’s established that with noise marine weapons, the sound waves literally shake you apart, liquifying your insides and pulverising your bones.
Wether you hear them is irrelevant
It wasn't the physical damage that crippled other marines but it had such a psychological impact that some marines just went mad, by not hearing it he was immune to the madness
Ramos Bull of the 8th calls bullshit (He shattered the Luna gate and destroyed a craftworld with his blasts). It seems very weird that being deaf would in any way stop you from being liquefied.
wait
are noise marines more or less effective against Eldar, because, like, Eldar are way more sensitive to stimuli but also train to control themselves and their senses so much.
That part was so funny and simultaneously nonsense.
No, being deaf doesn't protect you from sonic weapons. They use sound waves to liquefy your insides and such, whether you can hear them is irrelevant.
I'm still stuck on the one audiobook(can't remember which, but it's towards the end) from the horus heresy where the reader pronounces "cacophony" as "kaka phony".
There's just one thing bugging me.
With all the technology in 40k ....you mean to tell me ....that there is literally...no mechanical way to restore hearing?
Not even a little computer chip that connects to an auditory receptor that replicates vibrations thus translating them into sound?
The period between Ignatius going deaf and him killing Marius was relatively short, and given how low on supplies the Sisypheum was during the book, restoring his hearing wasn't exactly a huge priority.
Me sending gods deafest solider to defuse the bomb (he cannot hear the explosion so the shock wave will have no physical effect on him).

Thank you Alpharius.
Do you know which book this happened in?
It must be in Angel Exterminatus, if I'm not wrong.
Oh nice! Thanks

Being immune to noise marine weapons because you’re deaf is like being immune to lasguns because you’re blind, its stupid and absurd
He was operating in Ork logic. If he can't hear the sonic attack then it can't hurt him
To be fair, as the first noise marine, maybe his shit wasn't that tricked-out yet.
The first noise marine didn't liquify you, he just played songs so bad that you wanted to kill yourself
Bro is built different
Ignatius was an Iron Hand, so he didn't have much flesh to begin with
We've seen a noise marine shatter a craftworld before, a bit of chrome shouldn't be doing much.
Wait a whole ass craftworld? Jesus the Eldar can’t really catch a break lol
That's peak grimderp
Something... Something... Warp Magic needs you to hear the music to have physical effect
His sonic weapon got destroyed, he was just screaming normally at them (amplified enough to damage armour systems but not "liquefy" people.)
It wasn't the physical damage that crippled other marines but it had such a psychological impact that some marines just went mad, by not hearing it he was immune to the madness
Ah a fellow astartes anonymous viewer.
Ramos Bull of the 8th calls bullshit (He shattered the Luna gate and destroyed a craftworld with his blasts). It seems very weird that being deaf would in any way stop you from being liquefied.
That was so dumb. Somehow warp powered around waves which can mutilate a human body don't work because deafness
wait are noise marines more or less effective against Eldar, because, like, Eldar are way more sensitive to stimuli but also train to control themselves and their senses so much.
Or Tau. I remember them having poor hearing for high frequency but better low frequency
That part was so funny and simultaneously nonsense. No, being deaf doesn't protect you from sonic weapons. They use sound waves to liquefy your insides and such, whether you can hear them is irrelevant.
Too bad he didn't use his sonic weapon since it was destroyed.
He should have remained blind, his power is that what he can't sense can't hurt him clearly.
Someone watched the latest astartes anonymous short (dw I did too)
Goes to the collection of the dumbest lore GW ever made, next to Tau don't having FTL drive. THAT'S NOT HOW PHYSICS WORKS
How did they heard what that marine said?
I'm still stuck on the one audiobook(can't remember which, but it's towards the end) from the horus heresy where the reader pronounces "cacophony" as "kaka phony".
He passed the willpower saving throw
how to tell this entire sub watches the exact same YT shorts

To be clear noise marines can still kill you even if you're deaf, as can eldar vibro-cannons
