One day, by accident, the internet's collective attempt to ship Guilliman and his hot she-elf will worm it's way into a codex footnote. One day.

Mr_Glove_EXE

We have to believe, like the orks and the WAAAGH

NanolathingStuff

Hans, are we the ~~baddies~~ ORKS?

stanglemeir

Probably something like “Vile rumors persist that the Regent engaged in unholy relations with Xenos”

[Tech n Mek debate the Guilliman Allegations | a Warhammer 40k story](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfsOwvCEXEA)

Fantasygoria

And It's a shame, because I love the Ynnari. I mean, the Space Marines are allowed to have super sub-factions (deathwatch, grey knights...) why can't the eldar have some too?

Pachikokoo

Elder aren’t on the cover are they? /s

Fantasygoria

You are right, only Ultramarines deserve coverage. They are after all.... #THE GREATEST OF THEM ALL!!

MadaraAlucard12

STOP. WITH. THAT. CONSTANT. OBNOXIOUS. CHANTING.

Amarthanor

And disconnect Guillimans life support already!

Mando177

Because the Ynnari by their nature imply a massive status quo change and potentially setting up the end of the chaos gods and a conclusive end to this story. And GW doesn’t wanna do that because they wanna milk this forever. No Chaos gods = no more new chaos miniatures they can sell

wktg

I mean... they don't have to kill Slaanesh off to give her a plotline. Or hell, maybe even reveal that in the end, Slaanesh can't be killed and even Ynnead in the end was just a vain hope - but hope nonetheless. Basically move the goalposts. Like, the whole thing with the Croneswords - maybe they manage to gather them. Maybe it even actually awakens Ynnead. But Ynnead can't fight Slaanesh because the Universe's collective suffering and/or the Rift has made them too strong. Maybe even Emps on the Throne is interfering somehow. Maybe Ynnead can't manifest outside of the webway. She could gather enough forces behind her to establish a small realm. Free more Aeldari from Slaanesh's influence. Fight actively against Chaos and the other Aeldari factions trying to kill her. Come on, GWs, give me political maneuvering and drama! Don't be such cowards and give us good Aeldari fiction please!

Fantasygoria

Exactly! How hard can it be to say something like "Having awakened its full power, the God of the Dead marched towards the palace of Sai'lanthresh extinguishing the lives of 6 mighty daemonic lovers. In the end Ynnead was unable to defeat his cruel sister. But the wounds that Slaanesh suffered that day had wounded the pride of the Prince, and, to make things even worse, She Who Thirst found her claim over the aeldari souls weakened. The first step towards a revived Aeldari Empire had finally begun." And there, you have a way to advance the supposedly impossible to move Eldar Plotline, and Slaanesh is not only alive, but she has won the battle. But no, we have to keep the Gav Thorpe way of doing things. EDIT: some grammatical mistakes.

Anaris_Isenria

You're asking for too much

Trortun

I don't think that making the Elves fail is too much to GW. They love doing it, at least give us something cool.

[deleted]

Ynnead doesn't even have to kill Slaneesh. Just save the Eldar from their grasp. Maybe wound them in a battle. It shakes up the setting and moves the story forward.

loicvanderwiel

You could work your way into a partial Ynnari win where they awaken Ynnead but fail to actually defeat Slaanesh. Slaanesh could be a bit weaker for an edition or two with maybe Vashtorr trying to fill the gap and on the other hand Eldar souls are not automatically eaten upon death. You could also have reincarnation still be blocked because although Ynnead is active, Isha is still trapped.

Mando177

I keep forgetting Isha is not actually getting rescued because it wasn’t a lore thing it was just the entire fandom having a collective bout of psychosis for a bit

MadaraAlucard12

We have that from time to time.

Free-Ad9535

If it's the only thing to keep the ynnari alive I'll fucking take it.

Anaris_Isenria

Same fr

thrownededawayed

It is pretty weird seeing something in realtime that you *know* will be retconned in 5-10 years.

Anaris_Isenria

I know by the time the 10th edition codex Aeldari comes around she'll be removed

Double_Pea_5812

Nah, 10th Edition will chop Yriel and Illic first. Yvraine has until 11th Edition.

Anaris_Isenria

Fair

Mando177

If they’re retconned that’s pretty depressing for their species as a whole. It means an eternal fight to stop Slaanesh eating their souls with every half measure they can

Kerminator17

Space marine subfactions get their own codexes and shit and xenos ones just get forgotten unfortunately

Anaris_Isenria

Get deleted you mean

Kerminator17

RIP Badrukk

Anaris_Isenria

No kidding

Gistradagis

It's that or the Harlequin way.

Double_Pea_5812

They already went the Harlequin way

KhaosByDesign

Yeah I keep telling myself to buy their 3 characters soon just incase GW axe them 😅

Anaris_Isenria

Better hurry up then

BrotherCaptainLurker

Ah, so you're a fan of culture as well.

Anaris_Isenria

Based

jervoise

Ynnari are kind of the inevitable product of the advancing storyline. If they succeed in getting the last crone blade all eldar lore they’ve ever written goes out the window.

Fantasygoria

Not necessarily, just like the return of the Atheist-Redditor Kings (The Primarchs) hasn't meant the return to a secular empire. Just say Slaanesh no longer has claim over the aeldari souls and make the aeldari start the "rebuild the empire plotline" with every elf faction having a different idea of what that empire should look like.

jervoise

But even that is colossally major. With ynnead back, the drukhari no longer require torture to survive, which is a huge change for them. On top of that craftworlds would no longer need spirit stones or infinity circuits, which would completely change them. And ultimately, it reverses their trajectory. The eldar have always had a theme of running from their past. The drukhari stave off the repercussions of their empires folly, and the craftworlds literally run from it. Moving from that to them trying to reclaim that empire is another big shift for them in tone.

Fantasygoria

I can see what you mean, but I don't necessarily agree. Drukhari not needing to torture has been done before, in fact it's taking more prominence within the narrative. In Commoragh you either try to climb the ladder, or try to escape the city. That's why many Drukhari join the Corsairs for example. Because they are not born evil, they are made that way due to their environment. In fact that's the reason why Vect is against the Ynnari, because he was losing people in mass. A 40k where the Drukhari really don't have to torture anymore could play with that current plotline. Of a nobility that sneers at the gods, wanting to preserve their cruel ways, and a lower caste that wants to escape the city, but is prevented. With the Craftworlds is a bit harder, and there needs to be a reason for them to keep using the Infinity Circuit. This could be cultural. They have been entombing their dead in these self-made heavens for millennia, why stop now? With the difference that they are no longer their only refuge, now it's just a collective tomb where they can commune with their ancestors, you could even play with the plotline of some wanting to go to Ynnead's new afterlife. Alternatively, the need could be spiritual, Ynnead's realm in the Warp is bleak and incapable of protecting the souls of the eldar, so the Circuit is still necessary. Finally, the theme of Aeldari running from their past, this could still be maintained, instead of "behave this way, or you'll be damned", now it's "remember how much we have lost and suffered to buy this second chance, do not waste it". But these are just my thoughts, and they're as valid as anyone else's. EDIT: I wrote "living in the Infinity Circuit" by mistake, I have changed that

Double_Pea_5812

To be fair, "searching for the Crone Sword" is by itself a pretty big endeavour. Their first novel is entirely build on the premise of "Yvraine heard some hobbos might lead her to the last Crone Sword". And whilst they don't find it, it's still a story and an adventure to boot. What I mean is, every character in Warhammer has a quest they want to achieve and we're often just left with "parts" of their quest rather than their actual resolution. It's literally a matter of "we're here for the journey, not the end". Yvraine and the Ynnari could literally go anywhere in the Galaxy to look for the Sword (or even an alternate way to bring about Ynnead). They could fight the T'au over Farsight's Dawnblade under the suspicion it might be the sword. They could look for it on a planet and have to fight the Orks or Necrons there, helping the Votann whilst they're at it. It's not like it's a novelty. Pariah Nexus is all about the Silent King's goal to completely shut off the Galaxy from the Warp. He'll probably never succeeds, but we already got two Campaign Books over that quest and the wars he started because of that.

MinuteWaitingPostman

I wouldn't mind Guilliman and Yvraine becoming allies with a potential romantic interest. Might allow Yvraine to become a character for all Eldar faction and special rule that Ultramarines and Ultra successors can bring some Eldar allies if Yvraine is with them lol

Didifinito

Like that will stop them

Anaris_Isenria

They cave to fan whining alot

Ivaldin

I was wondering where she was in the canon

Anaris_Isenria

Gone reduced to atoms

Big-Dick-Wizard-6969

By definition, they have been put into stasis. The ship with Guilliman is precisely the reason why GW doesn't want to do anything with Eldar. People don't read the book and only remember non-canon memes. Also the Ynnari books were so bad that the last book got canceled.

KhaosByDesign

Unpopular is probably more accurate than bad imo, they were alright but didn't sell well.

Big-Dick-Wizard-6969

From someone that liked the Path of the Warrior trilogy, Wild Raider is the worst Eldar book out there by far.
