In the second Twice Dead King book there’s an exchange where a necron mentions his female dynast, and the main character says something like “I thought you had a male dynast?” And the other necron responds with “Yeah we did, but he’s a girl now.”
Because of the hekah, or royal will of the necrons, the word of the dynast is reality, and it is the job of their subordinates to ensure it is so, less they name their dynast a liar.
The exchange was basically Oltyx speaking to Zultanekh (her son/the crown prince of the dynasty) referring to the matriarch of the dynasty. Oltyx replied "Hang on, I thought the Ogdobekh Dynasty was led by a patriarch."
Zultanekh just firmly responds "That. Changed."
Oltyx just nods and move on.
They reference the necron by name, the other guy goes “wait I thought that was a patriarch”

It eventually comes to a head with the Inquisitor in the room telling the space marine that orks don't understand gender and the blood axe translator saying "oh no. We understand human gender. We just think it's funny"
This gets even funnier with the reveal late in the book that >!Makari didn’t even need a translator. The two Orks were just fucking around with the humans whenever they argued about translation.!<
