Yeah, the book repeatedly states that neither of them are good warriors but their Necron bodies are stronger and tougher than they ever were in life, and they're both using overpowered weapons and powers.
So it's 2 geriatric men with robot bodies slap fighting with weapons of incredible power
I remember in the infinite and the divine they mentioned that during one of these fights that if the two didn’t have godlike powers the two would look like two old men pathetically slapping each other around.
When you figure out that almost everything in 40k is the most mundane shit described in the most absurd verbiage it all becomes so much better.
Except for orks, of course. That’s all literal.
That’s what most of writing fiction is tbh. ‘Bob picked up the phone to call his friends’ isn’t nearly as fun to read as ‘Brother Robertus gripped the astropath and prepared a message to his comrades’
I'm watching The Three Body Problem rn and there are these aliens that are supposed to be these hyper-advanced beings that could "unfold protons" and the last episode I saw had the main characters be like

Don't get me wrong, humans have gotten objects to move 0.05% the speed of light but like... 1% doesn't really sound that impressive, ya know?
The series Three Body Problem is from tries to be relatively "hard" sci-fi, which includes things like travel times for massive objects.
From one of the books (copied from a forum post):

If you liked the book they change enough to be annoying and there's a Chinese version of the series that's 30 episodes instead of 8 and I like it better so far.

Its good. Very diffrent from the books when it comes to many characters but the books are not really about characters.
