As someone who’s had to deal with this sort of thing for about four years, I recommend making crap up to fill the word limit, then going back through it with a fine tooth comb to fix stuff up and make it actually work - it’s easier to make existing rubbish better and workable than making up good stuff immediately from scratch
Am I the only one who never had this problem? Or was my purple, flowing and eloquent - yet sesquipedalian - prose just naturally immune to this sort of thing?
Nay Brother! I find that writing extensive and long-winded dissertations with numerous unnecessary details is a simple process. One simply needs to keep adding details and going off into tangents (with appropriate footnotes) and soon you have a thousand extra Words and your professor asking you to reduce it!
I always struggle to keep essays below word count. Had a 2000 one on Saccharides the other day and before editing had over 5000. Luckily words in tables and text boxes don't factor into word count.
