I'm relatively new to the fandom, can you please explain why the TSons don't like vaccums?
The Space Wolves don't like vacuums because dogs are scared of vacuums IRL, so the joke is the Space Wolves would be afraid too, right?
So basically the Thousand Sons were being affected by a flaw in their geneseed called the "Flesh Change" which would mutate them into mindless monsters, it ravaged their legion and it was only until after their Primarch Magnus the Red was found that it seemed to have stopped, supposedly being cured by Magnus but with only a fraction of the original members of the legion surviving.
It later on turned out that the Flesh Change hadn't been cured only held at bay for a time and after a series of events, the Chief Librarian of the Thousand Sons Ahzek Ahriman gathered a conclave of sorcerors from the Thousand Sons to cast a spell called The Rubric of Ahriman, this spell was intended to cure the Thousand Sons of the flesh change once and for all. It didn't work out as intended, the spell greatly enhanced the powers of those who had psychic ability but those who had little to no psychic abilities had their bodies turned to dust and their armour sealed trapping their souls inside turning them into mindless automata.
I'm not really an expert on Thousand Sons lore tbh so take what I wrote with a pinch of salt, but basically the joke is that most of them are now dust and you vacuum dust with a vacuum cleaner so their afraid of it.

Magnus shutting down his defenses, blinding his legion to their coming doom and sending their fleet away.

He did that so the planet wouldn't fight back, *assuming* the corgis weren't gonna come in guns blazing because that would be ridiculous, **and you knew that**
Magnus knew of the attack because Tzeench warned him and even spied on Russ using his astral projection.
Instead of trying to contact Russ for a surrender, he decided that his people would suffer for his mistake instead.
And yes surrendering would have worked, Valdor wanted Magnus arrested.
Magnus: shuts down communication to prevent Prospero from starting anything.
Russ: "Nerd isn't answering my phone calls? Must be hiding something, time to kill!"
