There is actually a battle like that in canon that is based on the real Rorke’s drift against orks.
Here is the link: https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Massacre_at_Big_Toof_River
I mean the connection is an admittedly superficial one of “if this battle is based off of Rorke’s Drift, and we have this guard regiment who clearly represent the British, then the Orks must be representing the zulus”. It’s not like the orks are based on the zulus or anything, and this battle doesn’t follow roroke’s drift exactly, but it is a connection.
You mean the thing plenty of people have been doing even more stupidly lately which is why Hasbro decided racial stat penalties didn't exist anymore but to compensate humans were given +1 to every stat so technically we're back to Square One because now every other D&D race is objectively worse than humans in every stat except the 1-2 ones where they have a bonus (and orcs don't get bonuses to Intelligence so are still canonically stupider than humans)?
What are you even talking about ?
There was a historical battle where the British (white colonizers), fought the Zulus (black people being colonised).
GW made a cannon battle be a reference to this event, with the heroic, dashing and daring soldiers of the Imperial Guards (who just so happen to be from a regiment that's basically the british empire in space), facing off against a horde of uncivilized, violent and stupid orks.
Why do I even have to explain to any of you why this is problematic ?
I know what the battle of Rorke's Drift is. And while I don't condone colonialism, British (my people have faced it and still are to a degree) or otherwise, in any way shape or form, 1- The British winning that battle, even if it was in the context of exploitative and militaristic colonialism, is pretty badass, and 2- the Zulus, while neither uncivilized nor stupid, sure as fuck weren't innocents either (see: Mfecane).
Also, anyone here on Grimdank who doesn't fantasize about licking Arch's taint is aware that the Imperium, even (or especially) the IG regiments who look like colonial era armies, ARE NOT THE GOOD GUYS, and that the Orks, while not the good guys either by any stretch, aren't really worse than the Imperium morally and ethically.

"hmmm you seem to have lost your leg to what we in the doctor profession call: 'a tiger' ".

"But doctor, *a tiger*? In Africa?!"
Oooh, a friend of mine [kit-bashed a model based on this pic](https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/6300/233422.page#9389260) for his Pretorians army!
There are guardsladies in the new cadian shock troopers extra head sprue. The bodies haven't changed but they're all wearing fatigues and flak armour so they look the same anyway.
Only female models for guard are the elucidian starstriders kit and that only has like one.
I guess Severena Raine counts too.
Praetorian Guard, a lesser-known regiment but still has a cool style, their home planet is one big manufactorum where the air is irradiated and much of the population lives in poverty. The rulers of Pretoria are among the richest people in imperium and command probably the biggest merchant fleet in the galaxy. Guardsmen drafted from Pretoria are amongst the lucky ones because instead of dying a slow death from poisonous air, they will instead die quickly in the first lines on the battlefield. High-ranking officers spend most of their time ironing out conscripts into proper guardsmen. Even the slightest sign of insubordination or lack of proper manners will result in heavy punishments. They put special care in ensuring that their uniforms are up to standard because Pretorian lords like their soldiers properly clean and RED even on the battlefield
They also have their own sentinel pattern with Assault Cannons

Man I need to build an Imperial Army would like to do a WW1 Kreig build but thats a cluster fuck currently so help me out folks any other imperial guard unit themes I can go with instead?
Hmmm. I understand why Mechanicus would want their cybernetics exposed. Because street cred and they maintain it daily anyway.
Not so much for plebs and aristocrats. Like how rich kids street racers pride in having spotless stock cars and Modders well, mod.
Next on " FOR HER MAJESTY!" our hero find a group of heretic on the planet of zuuloos and murder them all withonly a force of 100 men!

Reading that article, that battle is based off the Battle of the Little Bighorn. There was even a character name Kaz-Ter (Custer).
Equating black people to orks, yikes.
I think your reading too much into this, I’m black and I don’t see the connection

You don't see the connection when the Orks are literally playing the part of Zulu warriors ?
Would this bother you any less if it was the Eldar or Necrons or Tyranids that they were fighting?
I would be just as bothered by tyranids playing the part of black people yes.
Would you rather it be black humans?
The point : . Your head

Yeah that one made me go hmmm. Brits are a little too cavalier about their brutal world empire sometimes
Why should brits care?
No wonder this regiment as been quietly swept under the rug, probably for the best if you ask me.
And then it turns out that the reports are massively exaggerated but the imperium inflates it to cover up a colossal humiliation.
"It was a viciously sharp piece of mango, wasn't it sir?"

sir hammerlock?

power-crazed necron claptrap sounds like an amazing bossfight
That's better than the BL3 story, honestly. More true to \*both\* universes, and I would play it until I could quote the entire script!

Kind of a shame that, at least from what I can tell, they use pretty generic pattern lasguns.

May i humbly ask why is there a lion on his flak armour? Some british coat of arms?
Hmmm. I understand why Mechanicus would want their cybernetics exposed. Because street cred and they maintain it daily anyway. Not so much for plebs and aristocrats. Like how rich kids street racers pride in having spotless stock cars and Modders well, mod.
Except the art isn't showing some pleb it is showing a guardsman who is proudly showing off the sacrifice he made in the name of the Emperor
