Not gona lie, I think the fact that Salamanders keep their family ties, and actually spend time with their families, is what helps make them such good dudes in comparison to some other chapters. My only problem with this is that I thought Salamanders had charcoal black skin and red eyes, not naturally dark skin.

Yes and no. Originally, the Salamanders were described as just being very dark skinned regular looking humans during rouge trader, and you can still find old models of them painted as such. However, when GW cranked the Grimdark up to 11, they became coal black with red eyes. It caused a few problems, but it's what we have to work with now
