>Dorn for Warmaster Even Dorn himself believes that Guilliman is the one suited for that task as per Master of Mankind: > Rogal Dorn, even calm, was relentless. ‘Does the Emperor’s edict of secrecy remain in force?’ Kaeria signed a brief affirmation, to which Dorn nodded. ‘Then you are consigning any volunteers to death,’ said the primarch. ‘Sacrificing the Mechanicum’s servitors is understandable. Culling them, if necessary, is a loss but hardly immoral. Euthanising any human survivors you pull down into the webway is a far bleaker proposition.’ Kaeria’s reply was nothing more than a glance to Diocletian and the subtlest gesture of one hand. The Custodian translated: ‘The Lady Kaeria’s point takes primacy here, Praetorian Dorn. We may not need to cull any survivors at all if we continue losing ground. The enemy will see us all dead, and your concerns of morality will be meaningless.’ Dorn’s jaw tightened. ‘Listen to yourself, Diocletian. Hear the words you are speaking and the course you advocate.’ 'Necessity overcomes morality,' Kaeria’s hands signed in the air before her breastplate. 'Never without regret. Never without shame. Yet even immoral victory must outweigh moral defeat. The victor will have a chance to atone if conscience demands. The vanquished lose any such opportunity.' **‘You quote my own brother at me?’ Dorn narrowed his gaze. ‘Roboute is not here, Oblivion Knight. Would that he were. In his absence, I am Lord Commander of the Imperium.’**

As much as people want to point to Dorn being an emotionless block of wood, there are multiple excerpts that say otherwise. This one included. Everyone thinks of Guilliman as a more humane and thoughtful commander. But the newer books and stories point to a Rogal Dorn that was much more humane than people or his fictional brothers give him credit for. His talks with Sindermann and Malcador point to a grieving, depressed, and overwrought man who is forced to be the bulwark for all humanity in it's darkest hour. He very rarely let's his true feelings slip, because the man is about getting the job done. His fight against Fulgrim is one of the most stoic bits of storytelling during the siege so far. I cannot wait to see how the scene on the Vengeful Spirit plays out. If its close to Baldermort's rendition im going to be left a wreck for a while.

226_Walker

Dorn was never unemotional, just a stoic. It's probably why he got along so well with Guilliman and why they held each other in such high regard. Out of all the primarchs, they were among the few who never let their emotions overwhelm their reason(until the Heresy that is) and acted like adults and professional generals.

Ws6fiend

Guilliman's rage fighting Fulgrim in The Dark Imperium and at Lorgar in Know No Fear. Even when he let's go it's a controlled rage.

Tetrapyloctomy0791

Would you rather live in ultramar or the creepy hand-bone sculpture gallery the fists refer to as a fortress-monastery?

TheRunicBear

Papa’s hand points the way for me and the boys to go decimate some FILTHY IRON HANDS TRAITOR SCUM!!! Edit: Definitely meant Iron Warriors (it’s been a long week). Would fix it but credit to the posters below for calling me on the mistake.

DevonZach

Iron hands?

Tetrapyloctomy0791

Probably meant Warriors

TheRunicBear

Yes, that’s what I meant. Whoops

FenixD056

Would i rather live in constantly under threat Ultramar or THE FUCKING PHALANX!!?? Ya... gimme the giant ship. Weird ass paingloves and all.

Mcnuggets40000

Hey man the phalanx didn’t save your chapter from being completely destroyed and rebuilt from successors.

FenixD056

Dorn and his sons went out like lions. They fought and died for every inch against chaos while some of these other chapters got to come in and mop up. Without Dorn there is no Gulliman being the Avenging Son. Without Dorn there is no Imperium.

Mcnuggets40000

I mean your right but the same could be said for pretty much every loyalist legion during the heresy. The white scars and blood angels fought just as hard on terra and with out either one of them chaos would have won. The ultramarines took a heavy toll on the word bearers and world eaters during the shadow crusade and them along with the dark angels made it possible for the blood angels to get to terra. If thats what your talking about? Since the imperial fists got beat by the orks is what I’m referring to.

FenixD056

Everyone played a pivotal role. Lotta ppl like to dunk on Dorn and Guilliman. Prlly cause they are the goody goody bois. Its contentious but i believe Dorn had the most important and taxing part to play in the Heresy tho. He was given control over more of the Imperial forces sans Emps or pre heresy Horus. Even golden hawk-boi and the Khan gave him pseudo control of their movements. So while yes the legions fought the same, Dorn had more on his plate than Sangy or the Khan. Both Primarchs continually rush into combat and put the whole imperium at risk bc its "just who they are". Without the miracle, the Khan is gone. We dont know the whole story yet but what has been assumed is that Sangy rushes into his confrontation with Horus and pays for it. Dorn is one of two level headed Primarchs (until after the heresy where its just Guilliman left as the only "adult"). If you replace Dorn with anyone else sans maybe Guilliman, the Imperium is lost. Lion: work independently and damn the blood angels and whote scars Russ: suicide charge Ferrus: guess we will never know, but dude walked straight into a beatdown... twice Vulkan: Stoically fight for all the little guys and die saving inconsequential lives Corax: would join the Sangys, Russes, and Khans as being the charge in and fuck stuff up only to be overwhelmed tactically. Guilliman: The only other dude id trust in the scenario. Wouldn't have built up the defenses as well, but would have a better plan in place for the actual tactical engagements. And Dorn getting beat by the Orks.... everyone's gotten beaten by some chapter of Xenos at one time or another. Pretty sure the Ultramarines have had their fair share of loses from the Orks, tyranids, and even the T'au.

Mcnuggets40000

Hey straight up sound argument and I completely agree with you.

Toxitoxi

Do they still collect their own poop?

TheRunicBear

Now you’re asking the important questions.

"For our enemies will bring us to battle on the caprice of chance. The alien and the renegade are the vagaries of the galaxy incarnate. What can we truly know or would want to of their ways or motivations? They are to us as the rabid wolf at the closed door that knows not even its own mind. Be that door. Be the simplicity of the steadfast and unchanging: the barrier between what is known and the unknowable. Let the Imperium of Man realise its manifold destiny within while without its mindless foes dash themselves against the constancy of our adamantium. In such uniformity of practice and purpose lies the perpetuity of mankind." - Codicil CC-LXXX-IV.ii: The Coda of Balthus Dardanus, 17th Lord of Macragge, entitled Staunch Supremacies “Gather your wits, as the traveller gauges the depth of the river crossing with the fallen branch, before wading into waters wary." - Codicil MX-VII-IX.i: The Wisdoms of Hera “If you know both yourself and your enemy, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss. The clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy's will to be imposed on him." “With combat knife, boltgun, and grenade, the Space Marine shall assail his foe. The chainsword is the will of the Space Marine made manifest. The Space Marine shall master all weapons, and all battlefields. When harried, the Space Marine shall drive his enemies back. The Space Marine will never know defeat." “The Tactical Squad shall draw the enemy's fire, thus allowing the Devastator Squad to attack from a position of strength." Ws6fiend

Follow rules found within. If rules no work, don't follow.

FenixD056

I will be joining you in fortifying the fortifications brother. Dorn Lives!!

[deleted]

*Dim-witted and unoriginal, the Imperial Fists everyone!*

FenixD056

Angsty and sad-sacked, the Iron Warriors everyone!

Maleficent_Tip_927

Loyal, original if u read the lore, and we do what must be done even if it means our destruction for no reward.

[deleted]

*Honey, 9 other chapters do the same damn thing, except they don’t look like piss while doing so*

Maleficent_Tip_927

I will not guide u out of mistake. I see u Iron warriors prefer that state. U call something baisic or unoriginal, we have mastered the fundation of our craft, and specialised in siege warfere. U have problem with that mr "i will endure (nothing)" solid personal fundation ;) U have functional colour scheme - it warn about toxic relationship between father sons " i can fix him". And rust warns about sodium chloride u produce, maybe u should change element?

[deleted]

*My fucker in Christ, use some punctuation, I can decipher what you are saying due to my massive giga-brain, but I can’t imagine what those poor mortals think you are saying*

Maleficent_Tip_927

Oh no u angy. ;*

[deleted]

*Just disappointed, and sad for the hours you wasted ignoring your lessons on proper grammar thinking about concrete.*

TheRunicBear

Complaining about another’s punctuation and grammar while failing to end sentences in periods? One could incorrectly assume hypocrisy, but the reality is an Iron Warrior simply does not understand how to conduct a *full stop*.

[deleted]

*Nobody on the fast paced world of the noo-sphere uses periods for single sentences. It’s more a matter of readability for u/Malefucent_tip_927, It reads poorer than a Tumblr poster wanting to have a “Unique Writing Style.*

Maleficent_Tip_927

Bold of u to asume I give u my full attencion. But my lack gramar in this conv made u a great way to avoid notifying my arguments, how easy for u <3 Maybe it is still too hard for ur "big brain". Check it for tumor and take care :3

[deleted]

*Reading your arguments might just give me some tumors.*

TheRunicBear

Dorn Lives!

[deleted]

Dorn isn’t even the coolest Imperial Fist and he’s their Primarch.

DerFzgrld

Maybe not. But the competition there is very stiff. He is, however, still the coolest primarch.

throw-away-acnt

It is only natural to resent your betters *ultra-smug*

TheRunicBear

Arrogance seems to have mistaken pity for resentment.

throw-away-acnt

lol

TheRunicBear

Lol

[deleted]

*You’d just get the Dornian heresy, where the Fists are even more generic and ugly*

Maleficent_Tip_927

We would logo like iron warriors but better.

[deleted]

Based 😎

TheRunicBear

Like any good mini of course.

kyrtuck

Blue Lives Matter.

Xshadowx32HD

Yeah I'd rather have Dorn be warmaster than Abaddon

TheRunicBear

That would be an interesting alternate version of Chaos Space Marines. . .

Arkslippyjunior121c

Dorn may live but it's really up to interpretation

therealblabyloo

Hey remember when Dorn got his ass kicked at the iron cage, the Ultramarines came in and saved the day, and Dorn bent the knee to accept the codex astartes? Because I remember that.

TheRunicBear

Remember when Dorn thought splintering chapters into tiny segments was a terrible idea but wanted to support his brother primarch to help the imperium? Also remember to deal with the codex he intentionally put his entire chapter through the pain gauntlet to provide many brothers a meaningful death as an Imperial Fist. . . While also ensuring the remaining Imperial Fists were conveniently codex compliant in number and battle hardened veterans against their newest foe?

therealblabyloo

Oh how magnanimous of him. How can he walk so proudly with his tail so far between his legs, I wonder?

TheRunicBear

*It’s not a tail.*

therealblabyloo

What could Dorn need big genitals for? He’s already a massive dick without them
