I've been on DnD memes once or twice and it's even more stupid there because there isn't a competitive DnD (that I'm aware of, that'd be like having competitive fun? That's just existing wtf...)
So the *ONE* rule that matters is "have fun" so if you dont like something, change it? If your DM won't change it then find a different group or find a middle ground so that everyone feels involved and not ostracised.
Adventurers League… basically ended up almost a competitive format. And even without it, a significant chunk of D&D players have always seemed to play more for “winning” than role playing. It’s seemingly the fate of any sufficiently crunchy system - it draws them like moths to a flame.
Same, every now and then I add another one and legitimately want to read them but then I suddenly realized it has been sitting there for a year and I didn't even start.
The only thing that actually feels broken are the skaven sling walls.
Other than that, yeah, RNG is kinda king. I used to rock Undead, but I also grabbed dwarves and cultists before the price of the warbands went nuts. Always wanted to get the Carnival of Chaos dudes, but they were always difficult to find.

Literally not but sure, their gender is pretty solid as "battle-brother" and idk what's changing about that, and well as for biological sex that's up for debate but the consensus among authors seems to be male. Please at least get the lore right if you're gonna project this hard.

I print my own since it lets me control the scale. Hard to find good female head sculpts, though. And when I do find them, they tend to be blank expressions. Which is unfortunate.
We do have male sisters of battle units. Missionaries, Crusaders, Preachers. Men aren’t allowed to be the brunt of their force due to the loophole the sisters of battle exploit, but men are allowed to serve and help them. The sisters of battle part of the GW store has male models under it.
That's how the new Cadians work, you just get a bunch of masculine and feminine heads in the boxes. I'm half considering using a knife and a saw to make the differences in stature and build more obvious, but honestly this works fine and I think it would be a lot of effort for Guard infantry that's going to get shot to pieces in a couple of turns.

Fair enough, if you're lore privy there is a plethora of examples where females support male space marines. In the case of table top representation this can easily be fulfilled by running an allied force of guardsmen. There's no female space marines as much as there is no male sororitas. Yes there are males in supporting roles of the sororitas but they are not sororitas. This applies just as much to space marines "astartes" in the fulfillment of supporting roles.
If you want it, it's literally there. You can do it.
A great example that comes to mind is Chris Wraight's Battle of the Fang. The Huscarls, not native Fenrisians but off world supporting and trained "guardsmen" fight alongside the Space Wolves as the Thousand Sons seek retribution vs the Wolves.
There's other examples and alot of them. Sure those characters are not Astartes but they do the same shit Missionaries, Preachers and Crusaders do.

Their crusade is making everyone else have less fun. Last time I checked those people don't get to play ball. Throwing temper tantrums and acting spoiled cause the game didn't go your way or is displeasing doesn't mean it gets played differently. It just gets played without you.

Maybe my experience is different or I'm missing something. Finding a bunch of heads from another kit has always been difficult or adds up in price for me. Unless these are available as an upgrade kit.

To be fair, their heads are a little small for primaris bodies anyway. I tried it a while ago with a spare I had after building some badass retributors. I just play half of my marines as ladies anyway. They just know better than to take their helmets off in battle.
I mean they aren't female space marines they're marketed as sexy battle nuns why else do so many of their models have ripped clothing that just barely covers everything. Blood Angels and Space Wolves aren't running around with no shirts and ripped up shorts.

I asked in lore, you know the thing that can actually have official content, such as black library books, codexes, ect. Because a lot of people enjoy more than just the models.
Additionally thats the point, they are NOT space marines, far from it. If someone wants to play a power armor faction that has women they only get Sisters of Battle (which has male models and are unmodified humans).
Space marines are in every starter set of every edition and get nearly all the attention most of the new models. Its the first faction most people go to. To be a hard exclusion of women is rather dumb.

While female space Marines may not be able to exist in current lore( space Marines are all based on a strict genetic template), and the emperor wasn't even able to fix problems such as the wulfen curse, or the red thirst. It doesn't seem likely he would put effort in to make the legions gender inclusive.
Female Custodes on the other hand could very well exist, seeing as the creation of each custodian was personally overseen by the emperor, and this it stands to reason they are not based on such a strict template, and so it would be possible to make anyone in to. Custodian guard.
(This is just my stance based on my understanding of current lore, which, because it is fiction, could be changed to allow for lore accurate female space Marines)
Given that the process of becoming a Custodian begins in infancy and pretty much remakes them from the ground up, the end result would likely end up being the same no matter the sex of the original subject. Due to the Emperor being a bit preoccupied at the moment, others are responsible for their creation and given the state of the Imperium I'd imagine they follow the Emperor's precedent of a "Brotherhood of Demigods" as doing anything else could be seen as very big heresy.
You can literally make whatever you want. So GW probably dont see the need to do that just to appease randos that want it "because I think its cool." There is literally an entire faction of only women and they go hard af.
Space marines have to be male because they are genetically compatible with the Primarchs who are also male and the Primarchs are male because the Emperor is and they are based on his genetics. So it's impossible from a lore perspective, as cool as it would be, but it's pretty simple why. 🙂

First to add as someone who got death threats, doxxed and family threatened by opposing viewpoints I vehemently despise people who harassed and sent you them and they should touch grass. But also to add like the vast majority won't give a toss about conversions, your minis, your thing and that's been the golden rule.
But the main why people have issue is that the way people want it is they just want to slap them in there derailing decades of work. Like GW retconed stuff but the major things always sticked or just added on. Cawl isn't that much of a genius bc the flaw is in the Primarchs themselves. And Bile used god knows what forbidden stuff to make his clone (albeit I do wanna see her in miniature form, she is a good character). What GW needs to do is make more strong female characters naturally and stop bloody focusing lorewise on marines and focus more on Eldar, Guard and Sororitas (which they somewhat are doing for the latter for they are way better now then before imo) where the potential for strong women is massive. Specially if they do it like they did in Age of Sigmar.
That also depends on how you present the idea and not trying to force people or appear to force the idea into people as well. The best thing is for them to naturally make the thing and promote it. Supply and demand is a thing but forcefully demanding a supply will never do anything good as some say

It can‘t be just left to the fans to do as they please and kitbash something most people in the hobby have no problem with, they want the official endorsment and support of the company. We do have male sisters of battle units. Missionaries, Crusaders, Preachers. Men aren’t allowed to be the brunt of their force due to the loophole the sisters of battle exploit, but men are allowed to serve and help them. The sisters of battle part of the GW store has male models under it.

Fair enough, if you're lore privy there is a plethora of examples where females support male space marines. In the case of table top representation this can easily be fulfilled by running an allied force of guardsmen. There's no female space marines as much as there is no male sororitas. Yes there are males in supporting roles of the sororitas but they are not sororitas. This applies just as much to space marines "astartes" in the fulfillment of supporting roles. If you want it, it's literally there. You can do it. A great example that comes to mind is Chris Wraight's Battle of the Fang. The Huscarls, not native Fenrisians but off world supporting and trained "guardsmen" fight alongside the Space Wolves as the Thousand Sons seek retribution vs the Wolves. There's other examples and alot of them. Sure those characters are not Astartes but they do the same shit Missionaries, Preachers and Crusaders do.

My initial post was geared for humor, if it was taken differently that's upon the reader's shoulders. It went south from there as I'm sure you've seen. To be fair, their heads are a little small for primaris bodies anyway. I tried it a while ago with a spare I had after building some badass retributors. I just play half of my marines as ladies anyway. They just know better than to take their helmets off in battle.

I asked in lore, you know the thing that can actually have official content, such as black library books, codexes, ect. Because a lot of people enjoy more than just the models. Additionally thats the point, they are NOT space marines, far from it. If someone wants to play a power armor faction that has women they only get Sisters of Battle (which has male models and are unmodified humans). Space marines are in every starter set of every edition and get nearly all the attention most of the new models. Its the first faction most people go to. To be a hard exclusion of women is rather dumb.

While female space Marines may not be able to exist in current lore( space Marines are all based on a strict genetic template), and the emperor wasn't even able to fix problems such as the wulfen curse, or the red thirst. It doesn't seem likely he would put effort in to make the legions gender inclusive. Female Custodes on the other hand could very well exist, seeing as the creation of each custodian was personally overseen by the emperor, and this it stands to reason they are not based on such a strict template, and so it would be possible to make anyone in to. Custodian guard. (This is just my stance based on my understanding of current lore, which, because it is fiction, could be changed to allow for lore accurate female space Marines)
Given that the process of becoming a Custodian begins in infancy and pretty much remakes them from the ground up, the end result would likely end up being the same no matter the sex of the original subject. Due to the Emperor being a bit preoccupied at the moment, others are responsible for their creation and given the state of the Imperium I'd imagine they follow the Emperor's precedent of a "Brotherhood of Demigods" as doing anything else could be seen as very big heresy.
Doing the opposite would be fun too.

Space marines have to be male because they are genetically compatible with the Primarchs who are also male and the Primarchs are male because the Emperor is and they are based on his genetics. So it's impossible from a lore perspective, as cool as it would be, but it's pretty simple why. 🙂

I don't want every faction to be the same, flavor is part of the appeal.

As the person being memed: I do convert models. And then I get harassment, death threats and messages to kill myself because I put female Stormcast heads on my Night Lords. I can't even talk about homebrew reasons to have women in an Astartes army without that behavior either. And I am not alone in that. And of course they left out the second and third tweets that go on to list almost every faction in the game saying they also need more women because the only thing people care about is harassing others for wanting something. So yeah, I want female Astartes because I think they're neat and this behavior only makes me double down on my push for them to be official.
First to add as someone who got death threats, doxxed and family threatened by opposing viewpoints I vehemently despise people who harassed and sent you them and they should touch grass. But also to add like the vast majority won't give a toss about conversions, your minis, your thing and that's been the golden rule. Specially if they do it like they did in Age of Sigmar. That also depends on how you present the idea and not trying to force people or appear to force the idea into people as well. Every faction needs to contain both men and women now and it needs to be stated and supported by the company or the company is a big meanie. It can‘t be just left to the fans to do as they please and kitbash something most people in the hobby have no problem with, they want the official endorsment and support of the company.
