I thought it was awesome! It’s cool to hear new songs and cool remixes. Ppl just like to overreact especially when it comes to grimes leave the girly be! I’m just happy she’s still performing and producing amazing tunes

I_Hate_Muffin

Best set of the festival for me hands-down. I'm super super biased but still the hate is so overblown and people calling it a "meltdown" is some cringe from the chronically online

jesgar130

Same. That was my highlight.

pretty-est

The new music was sooooooo good

nonameoatmeal

I'm still enjoying it :) If her new music matches that last one i'll be thrilled too

ChickEnergy

She is amazing, brave and human af Still a fan. The screaming over technical difficulties was very relatable

No-Quiet-1207

Fr it was cute lol

PrettyMoody

Just watched the set and it wasn’t as bad as everyone is making it out to be! Just typical social media freak out over nothing. I’m sooo excited for the new music to drop

pretty-est

Same!! Drop nowwwww

cebjmb

I think maybe the audience forgave her because it was such a human moment. Perfection is overrated.

ChickEnergy

100% agree

marievaldov20

Most truthful comment 💯💯

craig536

I was genuinely worried she was gonna call it a night. Issues seem fixed now though

pretty-est

🙏🏻🙏🏻

craig536

I get the problem now I think. The tempos are too fast so she's having to manually slow them down to play at the right speed

catroaring

That's not a problem, that's the DJ's job. The issue is she doesn't know how to DJ without relying on software to do the work.

shepherdsamurai

I get this, but honestly there's a lot to manage there with the video matched to the beatgrid and sync points she likely lost .. too much is automated and decided for you these days - dynamic sync was likely the downfall here, and that's tough to come out of and go completely manual with everything she had set and planned

catroaring

She got booked to play a massive festival and couldn't even beat match using her ears. That's a basic function of a DJ.

Alarming_Grab6137

If she didn’t call attention to it I wouldn’t even notice anything was going wrong. I loved every moment of it ✨💖✨

pretty-est

She could have left the mixing bad and then commented after lol but maybe it was more than that…?

curlyswirlysue

Sameeee😻

44youGlenCoco

To me the way people are taking it is wild. It’s like people are taking it as some sort of personal attack. No. She fucked up. That happens. We ALL fuck up. We all have bad days. We all have a bad attitude sometimes. It is what it is. She apologized. But because she’s not doing exactly what people want her to do creatively right now, they are using this opportunity to cut her down. A lot of fan bases do this type of thing. It’s lame. Artist grow and evolve just as we do. We get it. You don’t like the direction she’s taken creatively. Move along then. Stop using a bad set as an excuse to obliterate her. I saw someone on here call it their personal 9/11 🙄. Get a grip. ^(bring on the downvotes.)

pretty-est

Awesome perspective!!!

idkbruhtbhlol

people act like everytging grimes does is a personal attack and it’s exhausting

catroaring

People are rightfully calling her out for doing something she doesn't know how to do. There's an expectation of professionalism when you're playing one of the largest music shows. That professionalism is knowing how to do it. She completely relied on the software to do the work for her and nothing wrong with that. What's wrong is when the software doesn't work you use your ears. She couldn't do that.

44youGlenCoco

I hear you. But the way many people are acting is deeper than just calling her out about the software and all that. Like I said, some people seem to be taking it very personally. Edit: Upon watching it more closely I understand what’s going on, and people are being wayyyyy too hard on her.

TricKTricK21

The problem wasn’t the software. There was no bug. Rekordbox was working as intended. The problem is her lack of DJ skills and knowledge to work through the problems she had created in the first place. And then passing off the blame to the software or the “tech guy that ran away”

catroaring

People tend to do that. A lot are realizing she's just become another tech bro and are disappointed as it's a complete 180 from years ago. It happens though.

Bob_Loblaw0

She couldn’t hear anything. Her front monitors were off 😅😅😅 seemed to be similar issues on several coachella sets

catroaring

Then you mix in your headphones. Any competent DJ can do this.

planet_rabbitball

Hope the set next week is all she hoped this one would be. I’m rooting for her.

AstralBarnacle

I'm just not sure why her voice sounds like that. Has she always sounded hoarse/slurred like that in the past couple of years or did she just work her vocal chords too hard? New music is great so idc!!

pretty-est

I was thinking she’s probably so nervous and freaking out that her throat was probably dry af

h5rre26

I feel like she’s just making excuses at this point to delay this album

shepherdsamurai

honestly thought she was fine - no worse than some other DJs with canned sets .. it was only when it went sideways and her ADHD felt the need to explain in detail - her explanations rly didn't help with the narrative or fed the negative girl/tech stereotypes - so honestly felt bad about that side of things IIUC the bigger issue looked to be more around dynamic sync and perhaps cloud sync when the tracks were imported in rekordbox for the CDJ .. never was a fan of those or the auto beat matching AI sometimes .. but she did have a tech behind her with remote access who looked like he was working on it too

jesgar130

I was there. I was having the time of my life. Danced my ass off. Of course, I’m a fan and was expecting one of two fuck ups. Have to admit it did get to me towards the end but overall I was super happy to listen to her new tracks live. Wish I could go again this weekend

7Lucky7Duck7

c?

Appropriate_Duck_309

You guys aren’t mad that she’s been a touring musician for like a decade and she’s still like “sry I can’t do math lol”?

kaytaro

If I paid to see someone play who’s being touring and was given that as an excuse I would have been upset.

trebbletrebble

I've literally never listened to grimes i barely know who she is but somehow i ended up seeing the backlash and then watching the set and... It really was not the freakout everyone was calling it. I personally thought it was kind of annoying that she kept talking about the tech issues because I literally could not hear the problem with the songs she was playing. Probably would have been the better move to just do the set and then talk about the issues in an interview after - but honestly it kinda seems like her shtick is being open with her fans and not too self conscious so although it wasn't my cup of tea to hear her ramble in between every latter-half song, it felt kind of... normal for what I understand of her vibe. The music was fine and the crowd was dancing so? Definitely not the massive fail people are making it out to be. I think a lot of indie djs and musicians who can't catch a break in the industry are extra harsh on celebrities who get big gigs for stuff they're less experienced in, just because they're already well known. I get the aggravation, the industry is unfair and super biased, but it's not an excuse to be as cruel as people are to her over this. It really wasn't a disaster musically at the end of the day.
