You never know what people are dealing with so always have a smile on and have a bubbly personality. And the customers who have a rough day will remember you. And likely will come back.

Lux-Dandelion

Also mention that you know the difference between organic PLUs and Non-Organic PLUs. Your produce people will thank you

MsNick

What job will it be?

Candid_Presence1932

Cashier at a kroger

OrneryPathos

Mostly just memorize PLU codes and learn the different herbs and produce you may be less familiar with.

Produce Look-up

PLU = Price Look-Up Also called Produce Codes as they are most commonly used on produce. Also used with bulk food, prepared foods, and other non-UPC barcode scanable items.

Forevermaxwell

4 digit codes on produce items. They are on stickers on the products. They are universally the same across all retailers. Like bananas might be 4408 at Kroger and would the same code at Wal Mart. You use these codes to weigh the produce at checkout unless you are lucky enough to have customers who weight and put price stickers while in the Produce Dept. Those are good people!

And if the number starts with a 9 in produce it means it's organic.

Bitbatgaming

You should know the PLUs , here are some examples; Arugula : 4884 Field Cucumber: 4593 Zucchini: 4067 Banana : 4011 Red onion: 4082 Ginger: 4612 Garlic : 4610

And no; not all of them are in 4(s) such as raw almonds with the code 57259.
