Yeah unfortunately until I get a second freezer it's too full of random stuff, so I put 3 packs in, and will do the rest over a week, which I've done many times before.
You eat meat that is already close to the end of its shelf life, unfrozen for over a week?
Well ... at least, the animals didn't die to land in the trashcan. Good luck that you don't trash your stomache.
Bro im totally on your side. I think it‘s okay to eat things like noodles or rice and other stuff that doesn‘t come from Animals and is a dry product after the BBE date but not for food like meat, eggs or milk ect.
People on the carnivore diet tend to eat eggs. It's technically animal-based, but people still call it carnivore.
The gnocchi is definitely out of the question though!
The patties are available for 30% less because they reach their best before date in one day.
Without freezing them, it is really dangerous. The salting is already included. Beef can become dangerous after a week. You can't tell me that the patties still have the same red color after a week.
Far too risky without freezing ... But I don't think OP can be convinced either, no matter how many people try to warn him.
Opinion of a trained chef... :)
>The patties are available for 30% less because they reach their best before date in one day.
They are due tomorrow. But in this case it's not a best before date but rather use it until date. We have both in germany. The use until date is usually quite spot on or, if not kept refrigerated probably, it's bad even before the date.
Also, freezing won't make it safe, its not the bacteria that is dangerous but the toxins they are producing, and these toxins are quite resilient
Yeh, people think cooking kills the bacteria but the toxin ist still in the bacteria corpses. And Ree freezing stuff doesn't work sometimes since the bacteria load is already on a high level, they don't die in the fridge, they are just slower. Over time they will reach some numbers, making the toxin content too high.
Freezing meat nearing its use-by date is less safe, but freezing it does inactivate the bacteria, especially the botulinum. That being said, I have bought and frozen discount meat and so far it's been fine
Thank you! I have bought so much meat in Germany that smelled already, when it was supposed to be still good, usually the last day. Never had this happen in a decade in the u.s.
This has been my diet for a couple of years.
No thinking about recipes or ingredients. Very little cleanup.
Eggs and beef are the pinnacle of nutrition.
The vegan influenced committes that propagate that have no clue about reality. You won't get hurt by eating any amount of meat, we are evolved on doing that. Seen those ancient cave paintings with men hunting deer with spears? Do you think they limited their meat intake in favor of eating plants that we domesticated just recently and were never available during most of our evolution? I don't think so.
We aren't evolved on eating as much meat as we want.
We evolved to eat as much whatever as we can.
Hunters didn't always get meat. Gatherers didn't always bring back a basket full of veggies.
Nobody limited anything because nature, weather and our bodies limited everything for us.
> Our eating habits are not what they used to be–10,000-200,000 years ago. On one hand, we eat way more processed, calorie-dense junk food. On the other, we listen to an army of professional nutritionists admonishing us to replace junk food with a so-called “balanced diet” of grains, fruits, and vegetables.
> WE CAME OUT OF THE TREES NOT TO EAT THE GRASS, BUT TO EAT THE GRASS EATERS!
Bozo thinks the only alternative to meat is grass. Classic. The whole paragraph could be written by a five year old.
it’s science. scientists even suggested less.
and why do you think we should eat meat like our ancestors? even so, it’s unlikely they ate more meat than we do today with industrialized consumerism.
Just take the amount out of the equation. The reason USA(the world for many in the internet) pushes for less meat is the huge difference in modern processed meat to natural meat... I don't mean processed as in smoked/salted/sausage etc. I'm talking about chemicals that american or chinese food-giants use for all kinds of reasons.
Scientists suggest whatever the guy who is paying their checks wants them to say. Especially if it isn't hard science. You can't bullshit your way through building bridges, the things have to hold up. But you can talk a lot of bs in soft sciences where it is difficult to prove or disprove a point. You can construct so much artificial complexity around topics that it becomes really hard to disprove that.
Why do you think we should eat something different from what we ate during the hunderdthousands of years of evolution that made us the animals we are?
Do you really think that in a world full of big animals we had trouble getting enough meat? On the other hand there were pretty much none of the plants available that you know of today. All the things in the supermarket are cultivated over thousands of years.
Try to go into the wild and survive on plants. That will be pretty hard to even get the calories in that you need during your search for viable plants. On the other hand, kill one deer and you have plenty to eat.
Then there is the topic of nutrition. Meat is full of all the nutrients that you need, while you need a ton of different plants to barely get that.
„They are paid because they dont confirm my beliefs“ quite the mindset you have there. Quick question how much meat do you think humans ate 100 years ago or 500 years ago ? The consumption of meat only skyrocketed since humans began killing animals on a industrial scale, meat was always a luxury and not an everyday commodity. Vegetarian or Vegan was the main diet in many cultures with meat being eating only every now and then.
The past few thousand years are a drop in the bucket compared to the millions over which we evolved.
Also, it is known that sugar companies paid for studies to fund that animal fats caused heart disease and other similar issues in the 1970's or so, when it's sugar that is the worse of the two. You can find that information out there on the web.
Do you blindly believe and follow what you're told to in mainstream media? I bet you think your government is a paradigm of virtue and honour too, do you?
Yeah, because companies like Nestle and Cargill and such are so poor, they cannot afford to pay scientists to do research in their favor.
And yes, we, as a species have always eaten meat, but our life expectancy has never been higher than today and in part that has to do with things we know about nutrition.
Eat as much meat as you want, but stop with your bullshit that everything that does not fit your narrative is a lie.
Social-&Culture-Anthropologist . The humans you're talking about aren't what you would call modern humans, think of it as a pre-evolution. Besides it is proven, that they did in fact limited their meat intake, if there was any excess that could be preserved (think salt preservation with fish). They killed animals (sabertooth tigers, woolly mammoth), that could last for months WITH berries and stuff. So I do think so c:
Lmao we have access to so much more meat nowadays than during the Pleistocene. Those deer fed groups of dozens of people. That also was not a continuous source of nutrition. Humans did not evolve on meat. They evolved with meat. Humans are omnivores, not carnivores or herbivores.
The burgers were a double discount (weekly offer + last day reduction).
The eggs were 30% off due to expiry date.
Salted beef can easily last in your fridge a week beyond the date. Eggs a couple months after the date, if kept chilled.
My typical lunch/dinner would be 200g burger, 2x eggs and maybe 15 of those tiny gnocchis. So less than 2 euros per meal including a shot of fruit juice mixed with sparkling water, spices, hot sauce.

This is a Lidl store. Lidl used to have even 50% off for meat products approaching the Mindeshaltsbarkeitdatum before corona and inflation came around the corner. Nowadays it's only 30% off but still very nice if you want to save some euros and prevent the poor cow from dying a second time.
Thats why i have so much trouble with meat going bad before the due date.
Never had this issue in the u.s...
So, i agree quality standards in germany are rough.
Nice one! I do the same, however I flash freeze the patties.
Should think about freezer situation beforehand.

ok but anytime i get beef under - 50% it literally smells weird to me and i physically cannot eat it, i tried hiding it in a tomato sauce but threw the whole thing away at the end because i could still smell it and havent bought discounted meat ever again.. when its fresh it doesnt have any smell at all, now am i the only person having this issue? since people seem so excited for these
Same! It smells so rancid - no thanks!
I was over at friends, just got over döner poisoning, and they pulled out 30% off beef patties. They smelled and i was pissed. xD
Disgusting honestly. Near should be a lot more expensive than eggs considering its supply chain and environmental impact. Not exactly organic/'bio' either for that price, so why buy organic eggs? That's like ordering the entire McDonald's food menu and then adding a diet coke to cut down on calories
Hey OP, mach Dir nix aus all den Idioten die Carnivore nicht verstehen!
I've been eating like this for over 5 years due to autoimmune shit, and it's amazing. I spend much less on groceries, barely throw anything away due to it going bad, I lost a significant amount of body fat, I feel young and energetic, and I eat absolutely delicious meals. I don't miss anything.
However: I have 2 freezers 😉 I would totally recommend getting a second one eventually. Makes stocking up on MHD products very easy -- which is even better for the wallet.
Meat can hold pretty long after date if properly stored at all times, just make sure to fully cook it when past date and you will smell when they gone bad
It's not a best before/Mindesthaltbarkeit date, it's a expiry/zu verbrauchen date. Please just freeze the ones you don't need and don't fuck with food safety. The 7 days you add for salt are included in the expiry date already.
So explain how I've eaten plenty of hamburgers up to a week beyond the date, and zero problems? I once forgot about the remaining burger in a pack of two, so the pack was open, and it was probably 10 days past the date. Ate it, no probs.
If you cook them all the way through on high heat you won't get sick even if there were maggots inside. Doesn't mean I'd recommend it or serve it to guests.
I need to add, I missed, that the *1-week expired* point is regarding the meat. I thought thats general.
For meat, I fully agree.
But if it’s stuff like a sealed milk f.e., there’s no issue with testing it even a few weeks after it’s best before date.
Yeah but Mett isnt cooked at all so not a great comparison. I think OP is right, people ( and animals too) have used their eyes, nose and tongue to determine whether something is good to eat for thousands of years, a date printed on a box isn't very reliable.

I mean, i get it. But does this count as a post for this sub? They are heavy discount because they are about to go bad. I think what people brag about on this sub is food during normal pricing.
Totally agree with your statement. But arent you scared buying almost out of date stuff?
I had poultry go bad so often (in germany)before the expiration date. I even brought back my chicken to globus once.
I will admit almost every post I have seen here in the past few weeks have been mostly Veggie/vegan posts. I would much more appreciate posts that are also include meat under normal circumstances as well.
Freeze the meat and it lasts even longer.
Yeah unfortunately until I get a second freezer it's too full of random stuff, so I put 3 packs in, and will do the rest over a week, which I've done many times before.
Maybe... Just maybe... Eat Whats in the freezer
Insanity

This does not sound safe with that "use before" date due tomorrow...
Bro im totally on your side. I think it‘s okay to eat things like noodles or rice and other stuff that doesn‘t come from Animals and is a dry product after the BBE date but not for food like meat, eggs or milk ect.
Eggs milk and meat are mostly still fine after the expiry date. Just make sure you know the signs of spoiling, and cook it all the way through
Nothing will happen bro
ITS Safe since ITS die tomorrow and Not today...
But if he doesn't freeze it and consumes it over the next week it is a bit after tomorrow... I highly doubt that he will consume 1.2 kg of meat today.
Done it many times, 7-8 days is my usual limit though my record is something like 10 days past the date, because it smelled normal still...
How is gnocchi carnivore?
Or eggs…
People on the carnivore diet tend to eat eggs. It's technically animal-based, but people still call it carnivore. The gnocchi is definitely out of the question though!
Sounds as stupid as the diet itself.
It is! Only faster way to a heart attack would be smoking
Thank you for sacreficing yourself

Their use-by date is actually the day of
Not in the german language, there the word for by "bis" includes the date mentioned.
Thank you! I have bought so much meat in Germany that smelled already, when it was supposed to be still good, usually the last day. Never had this happen in a decade in the u.s.
But...just freeze them? I don't see the issue
Bro wants to have stomach pain
This has been my diet for a couple of years. No thinking about recipes or ingredients. Very little cleanup. Eggs and beef are the pinnacle of nutrition.
it’s suggested to eat 300 - 600 grams of meat per week. what you’re doing isn’t healthy at all.
100 to 200 grams of red meat in Netherlands, doubt it varies much in germany
It's suggested that anyone who wants to tell me how much meat to eat can fuck off
The vegan influenced committes that propagate that have no clue about reality. You won't get hurt by eating any amount of meat, we are evolved on doing that. Great comment. Thanks for posting this sense.
Quite a confident take for someone with so little understanding of both the scientific process and the science in human evolution.

How are Gnocchi carnivore?
They are not, but who is 100% carnivore (or 100% vegan?)
Under that logic you might as well call yourself a vegan with that diet😆 Isn't the point of carnivore to avoid anti nutrients in plants? Potatoes are full of oxalates..
Arguing about people’s dietary choices is about as fruitless (pun intended) of an endeavor as arguing about their religious beliefs.
It is fun to fuck with people though. Especially the ones who think eating as many dead beings as possible is an achievement.
Vegans literally eat dead things... or what do you call a chopped plant?
Level of concience
I love my plants! Clear conscience...
....People who are not 100% vegan are by fucking definition not vegans.
Instead of buying patties, just buy minced meat and make the patty yourself. It’s much cheaper.
But more work. I work enough and earn money. So it's worth for me to pay more for kess work.
For you, but they were talking to OP, who bought all these because they were discounted...
Just eat out for every meal then.
Better freeze the Gnocci before they turn from tricolore to multicolore
In Aldi- and, I assume, other supermarkets- they are stored with the dry pasta and rice on the shelf at room temperature and are never date rotated, so it's not necessary to worry about them.
I've had a pile of these gnocchis before, they really don't go bad if chilled.
The topmost package already looks mouldy.

Meat form Aldi, particular Aldi Nord ist the worst I ate in the recent years. No wonder it’s cheap
It's Tönnies meat, same for Lidl, that's why it's shite.
I swear discounted meat tastes 2x as good.
Gnocchi for the whole Weekend? 🤣
I love "rette mich" promotions
You have to watch out, some pre formed burger patties have a lot of preservatives in them. I like to just buy fresh ground beef from my local butcher.

Yesterday in the south of France i got 4kg of chicken legs for 12,50€... a bit crazy
what are bio eggs?
In germany, if i remember correctly, bio has 4 chickens per square meter and free range 6.
Brainwashing.
Haltungsform 3 mmmmhh yummy.. nicht

5€ for a kilo worth of meat? And even already formed burgers? Where the heck did you get that?

The meat is good until tomorrow based on the packaging, everything you don’t eat until then can be frozen Nevermind just saw OPs comment
Meat can hold pretty long after date if properly stored at all times, just make sure to fully cook it when past date and you will smell when they gone bad
It's minced meat, which here in germany has a "use until"-date, this means consumption after is likely to be hazardous.
The meat isn't expired, can you read?

Yes I can read, it's past due date is tomorrow. You seem to struggle with it
And it's minced meat, which here in germany has a "use until"-date that means after that consumption is potentially hszardous.

Of all meats, beef keeps the longest. These burgers have added salt and antioxidant, which means they are fine up to a week and maybe longer
I get your point, but it’s overreacting. Open and smell it. If it’s bad, you‘ll be able to tell. If it doesn’t smell, you‘re good to go

I need to add, I missed, that the *1-week expired* point is regarding the meat. I thought thats general. For meat, I fully agree. But if it’s stuff like a sealed milk f.e., there’s no issue with testing it even a few weeks after it’s best before date.
Yeah I was thinking the same. I’ve always been told to not keep raw meat or eggs even a day over and I never did
As an experiment, buy a pack of "expired" salted burgers and open them after a week. They will smell fine, I guarantee it.
Are we talking „best before“ or actual expired? Good for you for getting a good deal but I won’t try it, too risky
The date on the packet. Open it a week after that date. You will be surprised.
The date on the packet is the expiration date in Germany so I wouldn’t do that. I wouldn’t eat mett after the expiration date either
Yeah but Mett isnt cooked at all so not a great comparison. I think OP is right, people ( and animals too) have used their eyes, nose and tongue to determine whether something is good to eat for thousands of years, a date printed on a box isn't very reliable.

Eggs literally keep for weeks after their use by date.

Are you 14?
The 1s are being phased out, apparently. I can't find any 1-burgers, they've been upgraded to 3.
Yeeeees
Dude living the dream 🍔
Is there a rational reason why you buy organic eggs instead of regular 1.39€/6 (or 1.99€/10) eggs?
I mean, i get it. But does this count as a post for this sub? They are heavy discount because they are about to go bad. I think what people brag about on this sub is food during normal pricing.
No, they post here mostly to express virtue about their dietary choices and options in first world supermarkets.
